    This is not my Warcraft III. No way. Never. The announcement mentioned many really good features that would have rounded off the memory of this title. But none of that has remained. Simply disappointing!

    Amid the slew of broken promises, missing features, and cash grab antics - the biggest offender, in my opinion, is what they did to custom games. To squeeze some lemon juice on the cut they just poured salt on, is that they took down the original servers people have been playing on for 17 years. The Blizzard of my youth is dead and that breaks my heart.

    This game is a prime example of blizzards fall from grace. It’s so buggy, no one likes it, and no one will like you if you buy it and give blizzard money.

    I waited until December 2019 to prepurchase, I knew it would've been better to wait and actually see what they were going to do. They delayed, and I told myself that it was fine, they were just working hard on it, so on January the 3rd I prepurchased it, I couldn't skip the game that started everything for me, but boy oh boy was I disappointed in the product... Missions wouldn't start,I waited until December 2019 to prepurchase, I knew it would've been better to wait and actually see what they were going to do. They delayed, and I told myself that it was fine, they were just working hard on it, so on January the 3rd I prepurchased it, I couldn't skip the game that started everything for me, but boy oh boy was I disappointed in the product... Missions wouldn't start, prompting me instant defeat; I had fps drops only in certain zones of the map, making the gameplay really not enjoyable; once the game completely bugged out and I couldn't even alt+tab out of it, I had to manually restart my computer in order to use it. I issued a refund after not even 6 hours of "gameplay", because I only tried to actually play the game in those hours, rather than playing it.

    Blizzard, I really hope you manage to fix this game, or at least don't drag Classic Warcraft 3 in hell, along with this Abomination that you call "videogame". Such a shame.    … Expand

    This game is horrible! Can’t access the old version, this version has so many glitches! I can barely login and when I’m able to connect nothing happens. Stalls and you can’t play single player. This game is beyond disappointing! Whatever you do.... don’t buy it! If you’re a fan of the old version, this doesn’t even compare.

    Ignoring the numerous bugs and crashes, everything else is the same as in the original game, except the textures - they're total downgrade, and this is from a game more than 17 years old.

    Total waste of money, do not buy - if you want to experience the true game, buy Wc3 Roc+TFT.

    on the official website there is still signed of false advertising showing things that aren't in the game trying to entice you to buy this garbage product.
    I however was able to get a refund.
    do not buy this game or support blizzard.

    This game is utter and absolute garbage. It tramples on every single part of what made the PvP and custom games fun.     On top of that it's build on a throne of lies even the great deceiver wouldn't utter. Nothing works as intended. Most if not all the "cool" features presented at 2018's Blizzcon are missing but stuff that was working just fine before is now broken. You no longer have profiles for example. No clans, chat feels constricted and won't even scroll itself properly. I mean what? Event old games made in early 90's had auto scrolling. Are you telling me this game was built by actual juniors with no prior knowledge? Because I have to tell that if I were in charge of doing this project alone from 2018's Blizzcon to now it would suck but I'm 100% certain I wouldn't have broken as much as they did.
    The state this beloved game is in is an outrage and the fact it's charged like a normal game is even more so.
    I don't even want a refund. I want my game as it was presented to us. I think as a Blizzard customer that has been faithful to their brand for the last 23 years and sank unfathomably long hours into their games, I deserve at least to know that the game that I love isn't being desecrated.
    I'm sorry to hear that Blizzard is now a greedy cashgrabing company. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice and I'll never buy their games ever again.
    I hope the score reaches even lowest than the 0.5 it's at right now. Just to make a point. We, the community won't be delivered **** and then be silenced.     No vale la pena, hicieron lo mismo que con StarCraft Remastered, dejaron todo igual pero hicieron un skin del juego, si le sumamos el costo tan elevado por solo estos cambios diminutos y que la versión clásica no se pueda comprar a menos costo, la verdad es mejor pedir reembolso.

    Awful. By all means create a new version for those that want it but don't, and I mean, don't remove the original client as well. For those of us who aren't interested in reforged and would rather play the original, well tough. Unbelievable. So a game I purchased a licence key for, many years ago is now defunct and I've been left with 0 choice. Thanks Blizzard.

    When I heard this was announced, I thought this was going to be an update like how starcraft 2 was to original starcraft. Lo and behold, this remake was nothing more than a skin pack. This is the first and last time i pre-order anything from Blizzard.

    This remaster is as disappointing as finding your mother passed out drunk on the living room floor... for the 3rd time this week...

    This is raw game. Disconnects, bugs. They removed custom campaign menu, there is no clan system, custom campaign maps are broken now, desyncs when playing custom games, insane lags, autoloss when game starts and over and over. Do not buy this game until Blizzard fix it.

    - Куцые настройки (нельзя в ui настроить действия или скилы на какие либо клавиши, игра скажет полезайте сами в uni файл и пишите строчки команд)
    - Ноль нового контента (тут даже писать нечего потому что ничего нет по сравнению с версией от 2003г);
    - Если у Вас был куплен старый Варрик, то теперь Вы не сможете в него поиграть (иконка просто пропала из лаунчера, теперь покупайте рефордж).    … Expand

    Tried to play a custom game and it kept booting out to the to the find a custom game screen. It frustrated me to the point I ended up play AoE 2 with friends and had great time that instead.

    Loved every game from Blizz since I was a child. I would have bought every Blizz game blind even if the price would have been double or tripple. Spend thousands of hours playing D1, D2, D3, SC1, SC2, WC2,WC3, WOW...
    The story with Diablo mobile, poor performance of WoW. Clearly unfinished WCR. I will stopp beibg a Blizzard fan. No more buying until the games are tested and rated. RIP old Blizzard.

    I tried to play this because I loved the original. I assumed I could simply rebind the keys to be able to play the game well, and I was wrong. This is a really awful reforge - stay away.

Certain units that have been recolors were given distinct models, but others were clearly cut from development due to time constraints. For example, generic DK hero uses Arthas' model unlike in the original.

    - Terrain and effects look terrible. Blurry textures, spell effects either completely unchanged or barely noticeable. Chain lightning is just a dinky zap. Building art style does not resemble the unit one.

    - 3d menu replaced with 2d dioramas and has terrible performance not unlike a browser game... because it is exactly that. A web movie played in a Chromium extension.

    - Crucial features for competitive play either don't work properly (matchmaking) or are removed outright (ladder). Player statistics were supposed to be migrated from old Warcraft III but are not.

    - The promised "reforged" engine cutscenes are nowhere to be seen. Instead of cinematic camera and models acting with extra animation and expression as shown in the trailer, you have the same thing as original: units standing there while talking portraits recite a voiceover.

    - Terrible performance and optimization all around. Only the strongest machines can run this without major framerate dips, despite the graphics barely warranting the minimum system requirements.

    - Copious bugs in campaign, such as possibility of instant defeat upon mission starting, and hard crashes to desktop.

    - EULA changes which dictate what you can and can't do with the editor, effectively prohibiting many custom games because they use custom models, and including Blizzard claiming ownership (up to and including "moral rights", even if those can't be waived by definitiion) of any and all maps and game mods made in the editor.

    - Perhaps worst of all, this thing goes back in time and retroactively ruins the classic Warcraft III by replacing it entirely without warning. Players who do not have Reforged have 30 gigabytes of new assets downloaded anyway and have to play the new release with all its bugs, just without the option to enable what is effectively a 30$ HD model pack. Even the classic presentation is effected by altered environment and spell effects, not looking true to the original. In short, what would've otherwise be a mediocre cash grab that barely improves anything about the original turned out to murder it and desecrate its grave.

    Zero out of ten. Barely any effort except on the (outsourced) modellers' part, no quality assurance whatsoever, terrible technical frankensteinery, numerous broken promises, and a whole load of spite for both the original game and its community. Never again.    … Expand

    Thank God I got my refund.

    Blizzard has been going downhill for a while, the only thing they had going for them, to begin with, was the polish they put into their games' graphics and art style (gameplay not so much). This, I think marks the end of even that little pro, amid a sea of loot boxes and dodgey gameplay patches.

    Now comparing the three* editions, the classic WC3, and reforged in SD and HD modes we come to see vast differences in feature sets, stability, design cohesion and performance.

    Firstly, the performance is as expected, lower in reforged than the classic, but the problem is that very little fps is gained by switching between SD and HD modes. Visual style of the SD reforged looks visibly worse than the classic due to the under the hood changes and it produces significantly more graphical errors and glitches in SD mode. Custom models rarely function without issues.

    Second, feature sets. at the moment, classic edition is the most feature rich one due to having ladders, access to custom campaigns (yes you cant run custom campaigns in reforged), LAN support (which was removed for whatever vague reason they have) and most importantly, the bloat of 25gb+ of unused assets isnt there. This is a problem because the users that didnt want to buy reforged are now forced to download a 25gb+ game to play the same 1.5gb game from 15+ years ago.

    Thirdly, bugs and general instability. This product simply isn't launch ready, in its current state it functions worse than beta and it seems like it was rushed out the gate due to all the delays.

    Fourth, the reskin. Honestly this is one of the most disappointing parts as the visual work was outsourced to an inexperienced studio and it really shows. inconsistent texture resolutions, janky animations, inconsistent visual style. It's all over the place. Reworked cutscenes are nowhere to be seen (though this is no surprise because the trailer and the 2018 demo were done in much more modern starcraft 2).

    The only couple of positive things I have to say about it is the remastered (16bit 44khz flac, from the original 128kbps mp3) soundtrack and the prerecorded cutscenes have been rendered again in higher resolution.
    TL:DR
    So to summarize, only a handful of campaign levels were redesigned, ingame cutscenes were largely untouched, visuals are mediocre at best, performance and stability are unacceptable, features are missing as if it is still in beta and to top it all off, they have the audacity of demanding their users to pay 30$ again for a remaster that is far less polished or finished in general.

    On its own, if classic was untouched I would have given it a 4~5/10 for a really mediocre job, but because they are forcing us into using that bloated mess as a suitable substitute to classic wc3, it's a 0/10. The two versions simply cannot be compared.

    Note:
    This should not come as a surprise because blizzard is an empty husk of a company after activision finished its hostile takeover in 2018.

    In the end, they might have been better off making reforged separate from the classic and just used the SC2 engine which is a technical masterpiece done in a time Blizzard had competent staff in its ranks.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In 2018 Blizzard announced WC3 Reforged and proceed to hype the fact this was not a remaster it was going to go well beyond that. It effectively became the premier announcement at Blizzcon and the developers showed off early game-play footage and cinematic/cut scenes that looked impressive. In fact, there was a huge amount promised including backwards comparability, new cinematic style cut-scenes, upgraded graphics and story-lines to bring the game into WoW lore.

    What conspired has been nothing short of disingenuous and down right discussing. Reforged could best be described as 'Remastered Lite' and effectively released in what could be considered an Alpha like state.

    Not only have the majority of the key advertised features been cut from the final product that game is extremely unstable and void of features that existed in the original game that is now 17 years old!

    What makes it worse is that the community had been telling Blizzard all of this during the Beta and before and yet the Developers remained virtually silent and still remain silent days after the launch.

    Blizzard then has the nerve try and deny some people a refund for a game they are still advertising with missing features. On top of that they sneakily update the user agreement claiming intellectual property rights for any ideas and concepts developed by the community.

    This is not the Blizzard we grew up with. WC3 Reforged is a disgrace to Warcraft and should never have been allowed to launch in its existing state. Its only redeeming quality is that most of the updated unit models look decent but when put side by side with the current terrain the game does not look that much better.

    I had never played warcraft 3 before until I decided to buy it before the release of Classic WoW (I wanted to experience the original story before the mmo). So, when I heard the news that they were remastering it, I felt that gave me another good reason to effectively pre-order a game. After playing the original Warcraft 3 and jumping into Reforged, i was beyond disappointed. It wasI had never played warcraft 3 before until I decided to buy it before the release of Classic WoW (I wanted to experience the original story before the mmo). After playing the original Warcraft 3 and jumping into Reforged, i was beyond disappointed. It was another Blizzard launch with connectivity issue, I couldn't get into versus games with my friends. The "remastered" graphics of the environments seemed radioactive compared to the new player models. The UI was effectively the same, good for its time but too clunky for 2020 and a slap in the face from what they promised. The intro cinematic was incredible seeing the remastered version of the old cinematic was amazing. The fact that the remaining cinematics were not remastered was jarring but forgivable because they were not necessarily promised. I tried to get a refund but customer support has effectively ignored my request. Knowing the history of this game and how custom games make you lose your "moral right" to custom games this game is a garbage re-do with less features than it's non-"reforged" version. I cant support what activision has done to blizzard. I havent pre-ordered shadowlands and now I certainly will not buy it.… Expand

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
