    Warcraft III: Reforged is an 2020 attempt at remaking the classic legendary RTS Warcraft III. Before saying anything about the game itself, please allow me to clarify how I see and review remakes. I cannot possibly give a remake credit for any aspects of the game that remains completely unchanged from the original. Those aspects were already reviewed and praised (or hated) in the originalWarcraft III: Reforged is an 2020 attempt at remaking the classic legendary RTS Warcraft III. Before saying anything about the game itself, please allow me to clarify how I see and review remakes. I cannot possibly give a remake credit for any aspects of the game that remains completely unchanged from the original. Those aspects were already reviewed and praised (or hated) in the original game. So I only take into consideration aspects of the game that are new or actually were remade. Now about this disastrous game. Everyone remembers the horrible release and rightfully angry fans. Back then I wanted to retain my sanity and I decided to wait with playing this game. But now, almost three years later, I wanted to see how bad or good the game actually is. I really did not want to pay for this game, but luckily it has gotten cracked this summer. Now, first disappointment came right after I started the game. The menu is different and it just is not nearly as cool as the original menu, including the campaign menu little animated scenes. Remember the Reign of Chaos chilling menu music? That is gone for some reason. Then I started the campaign to see the graphics, that was, after all, the whole point of the remake. At first sight, It seemed ok, they got the colors and the textures mostly right. What I did not like were the units and especially the heroes. In my opinion their textures have too excessive details that you cannot appreciate from the RTS view and on the contrary, a lot of units seem pretty similar to each other and sometimes it might be difficult to tell one unit from the other. The heroes have new armor and clothes from the WoW and it mostly just does not look good at all. If I think about the graphics in general, it looks to me more like a 2010 remake then a 2020 one. One more thing about the graphics, all the icons are new, which seems redundant and confusing. New autosave system is also pretty useless. Also the developers wanted to distinguish the dreadlords among themselves, and it did not went great. Poor Anatheron and Detheroc, more like breadlords. No wait, I can do better. Also the developers wanted the game to sell in China and plus sexism is bad, mkay, so not even a hint of nudity or anything suggestive, the harpies animated icons got zoomed in on their heads. But those are all graphical aspects and sadly the developers decided to fick with the gameplay also. In short, everything they touched is more or like destroyed. The game is filled with bugs even now, three years after release. Not game breaking, but certainly noticeable and immersion breaking. Compare that to the bug-less original. Now a little thing about the difficulty. I consider myself a Warcraft III veteran and I have played hundreds of competition games back in the day, so I was truly surprised that some missions really took me by surprise and made me reload and rethink my strategy (I was playing on Hard difficulty). Now that would be fine, I would even welcome it, but the game does it in such a random and idiotic way that I cannot find any joy in it. Plus there is no balancing, some missions are really easy, some are really hard. What an excrementshow. One minor plus is that they resisted and did not included any SJW elements, like, you know, female orcs/taurens or footwomen. Thank god for that at least. No microtransactions, but the whole game should have been free as an homage to the great fans. Instead they charged 30 bucks for it.

    All these bugs would not in fact make a terrible game, more like a mediocre one. But what is the most horrible and disgusting thing is the Activision Blizzard's greed, immorality and depravity. The have no shame and it looks like the long fall from grace is not over yet for this once beloved company. I wish they would just stop taking these legendary great games and ruining them, but I know that is not going to happen. Final Verdict: 1 %    … Expand

    Warcraft 3 Brings back a lot of memories, the campaign is awesome and I got exactly what I expected from the game as far as the bugs I believe they will be fixed.

    I guess Blizzard doesn’t care anymore (2023)

    Now, with 27, I saw the Reforged announcement, the promises of UI redesigned, campaign redesigned; I was ecstatic, and decided to pre-purchase it. OH BOY, to say I am disappointed is an understatement... Not only they didn't deliver all the good things they promised, but    I have been a Warcraft 3 player since I was 12, and to this day I have loved it, old graphics didn't matter.

    Now, with 27, I saw the Reforged announcement, the promises of UI redesigned, campaign redesigned; I was ecstatic, and decided to pre-purchase it.

    OH BOY, to say I am disappointed is an understatement...

    Not only they didn't deliver all the good things they promised, but they even took good things this game had.

    The new EULA is just the last nail in the coffin of a game that shouldn't have never been released as it currently is.

    When every aspect of your game except the graphics is inferior to a version almost 20 years older, to say it's "extremely disappointing" is an understatement.

    And I can't even go back and play the original. As they broke that also.

    I am a very long Warcraft 3 veteran and played this game since its original release back then, I've grown up with it and I feel like its part of me as I surely played this game the most in my life and had amazing memories and made friends that I even visited in real life. I played amazing vanilla games, superb custom games and just absolutely stunning custom campaigns where I replayed the Sunwell Plateu raid or ICC with all the iconic voice lines and everything. Mods kept this game alive for such a long time.

    However, its all gone now. To be honest I absolutely dont even know where to start this, a year ago they updated the classic game and its battle.net/multiplayer nicely only to remove it now and force everyone into their new battle.net that DOESN'T has the features anymore they officially ADDED a year ago in a REMASTER like cross region play which is very important and this type of behavior essentially happend with the entire game as many parts are gone and not working - they simply released an absolutely unfinished product and DOWNGRADED everyone. There are big lists of whats missing but for example not even leaderboards or anything as simple as that is working while custom maps mostly gets deleted now and custom campaigns aren't even there anymore which was this games soul and beauty on top of an massively awesome foundation. Sad.

    Even the Reforged graphics are worse because they are not finished - the animations are sometimes copy-pasted and not as diverse as in classic. Classic Warcraft 3 had shadows, to enable those now you have to buy Reforged which makes no sense, they are even using scam practices now to force you into it.

    As a long long fan this is tearing me apart and im very sad about all of this, I never gave up on the game and I always had fun and joyful moments for such a long long time. Farewell, Warcraft 3 and **** you Blizzard for even DOWNGRADING MY GAME OVER 10 YEARS LATER AFTER MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE. Oh, and thanks for baiting me to spend 30€ on a downgrade cause the updates you did to prepare Classic to Reforge got rolled back for no reason whatsoever.

    This was a complete and utter scam in the worst way possible up to date in gaming history, we had false promising and marketing before but never again has your game that you already owned even got massively DOWNGRADED in the process.    … Expand

But I spent money for something that I thought it would be very different, and Blizzard showed up something very different at Blizzcon. The game is pretty the same, with minor changes. Blizzard just became the kind of companyI've played WC3 in the past, a bunch of nostalgia when I bought it again 1 week ago.     I wouldn’t have minded waiting a year or two just as long as the thing worked!

    tbh I'm mostly giving this a 0 because I want to see how low it can go. I do think what Blizzard did was unethical but also everyone who complains about a refund should look in the mirror and ask why they couldn't wait like 5 f-ing hours before buying it. People like you make things like this possible.

    They promised us a true remake of the game, all big lies. Only the characters are a bit polished.. the game is also laggy is hell, almost not playable. Only playable at low settings.. wc3 is better.. This is pure garbage. What is wrong with blizzard these days.. they ruined Warcraft for me

    i usually love the warcraft franchise i played all rts games and world of warcraft, i was exited how the promisses looked. the story changes and stuff to the actual content in wow.

    Больше всего убила оптимизация, я ждал игру ради кастома, но они умудрились сделать его неиграбельным. Даже не в деньгах дело, а в завышенном ожидании. Это очень серьёзный промах с их стороны.

    My evaluation is 0, even if this game went for free.
    I never thought I could give to Blizzard a rating lesser than 10/10.

    Eventually it was the same Blizzard that killed Warcraft. And killed part of my imagination. How did we come so far??? How???

    Please recover. We are getting mad, really mad, but we will forgive you for sure if you return the old great company you were with your majestic perfection and superb games. It's never too late. But. Please. Do. It. Now.

    Not what was to be expected. The original game is more stable than this new POS. And they haven't even made 1 update since release to fix anything. GG wont be falling for another preorder from blizzard ever again. I woulda rather wished they left bnet the way it was, cause at this time it's pure garbage.

This game is horrible in every sense of the word, it looks better but only acceptable for a game that was released 3 years after the original, nothing is what I expected it to be, everything is much much worse what I expected for the worst-case scenario, graphics, sound, mechanics, everything. They even removed features. I understand the excuse of not working on mechanics because of nostalgia but that excuse is unforgivable. The mechanics were horrible because it was a game from 18years ago and back then the game was awesome for its time but not for the current time. with this game Blizzard has basically announced that they don’t care even for their most hardcore fans anymore. This company fired people who were passionate about the games and what they did and now rules over the developers like they are slaves asking them unbelievable expectations and at the same time providing nothing to fans. all they care about is money, there is no redemption for them, even if they work on the game and make it better. They a large number of experienced developers to work on this game enough time and a huge budge as a lot of people bought the game when it was announced including myself. First they ruined WoW multiple times, then Overwatch died rather quickly, then they basically sided with a communist country by baning a person for asking for liberation, then this....… Expand

    Sucks to suck... I have honestly no interest in Blizzard games anymore. From someone who nearly flunked out of high school for SC:BW and Diablo 2, to someone who has uninstalled the blizzard launcher because the only game you have in your library that is any good hit it's prime in 2008. Kill your company faster plz.

    wc3 tft was one of the best games ever. A timeless classic. a gem. then what does activision blizzard do? they destroy the original game and feed us with this uncomplete pre-alpha at best work. if they'd left the original game untouched, I would be fine with that. but no, they make the old game dissapear. I rate it 0 and it is well deserved. Believe it.

    I really enjoyed the custom map scene. It makes a game live longer, and keeps things entertaining. Blizzard removed this important aspect, from Warcraft 3, in an attempt to force the new EULA which will destroy the existing community.

    By refunding the delux edition, i lost the meatwagon mount, which is fine, i'm not expecting anything for free. But Blizzard, you lost more than that. You lost our respect. You can't buy that back for 40€.

    They delivered a terrible product. I preordered this game and what they showed on their reveal in 2018. is a completely different game than the one we got in 2020. The cutscenes look way worse, the FPS is terrible and many other features were cut.

    If you want to play Warcraft 3, then go and install the original game, update to latest patch and    This game is a complete disgrace.

    What really hurts is the latest requirement to give Activision-Blizzard complete copyright control of your own map designs. Kids break their teeth learning how to make games via map making, and they will like to add their map designs to their portfolio to show they designed it; or collaborated on the design. Blizzard knows this, but for about 10 years this is Blizzard's M.O. (since 2010 Blizzard wanted to copyright even player names -- yes, even Totalbiscuit's name, if he named a WoW character as such, would be a name Blizzard owns by just agreeing to play. It's in the EULA since Legion).

    If you complain -- on merit -- on these matters they'll ban you from all their forums, too. I can't post there after my disgust of Ritalin abuse in eSports back in 2012, but can at least up vote on what I agree with.

    More actual gamers -- not the "official" critics who make a living from reporting to increase the hype (notice how they're totally off what players believe?) -- hopefully these "too big to fail" AAA studios understand to deliver what you advertise, not more scams. The history of video gaming is littered with scams and half baked games being pushed out to make money. Warcraft III: Reforged (or now better known as Refunded) is an example of money is more important than hyping games to sell; abusing the pre-order players; and being totally ungrateful to the countless modders who give life to otherwise stale video games.

    Stop abusing your players Blizzard and clean up your act. You lost over 5,000,000 players after WotLK for horrid decisions afterwards. Lost even more trying to break into the Chinese gaming marketplace with Mists of Pandera. Now a double whammy of Battle of Azeroth AND Warcraft III: Reforged (Refunded).

    The blue badges need to start being fired (Blizzard doesn't fire them, and they stay too long to create negativity and that toxic culture among players).

    Warcraft III: Reforged (Refunded) deserves the current 0.5 rating, because players got a bad deal and terrible treatment by a game company that used to team with very brand loyal gamers. That was lost almost a decade ago, so until Activision-Blizzard changes top/down, expect this to continue. Avoid their games until then.    … Expand

    I remember the good old day of my youth fondly playing Wc3. .... Pre ordered this game and realised what a mistake I made. It is essentially a DLC graphics/texture pack.
    It is not all about the bucks.

    The campaign seems to play just fine. I haven't tried the multiplayer or custom maps, and I'm not likely to. The graphics got a slight upgrade. They did not deliver on the cut scenes they promised. Over all I'm not overly impressed. It feels like a mediocre effort, not worth the cost.

    Blizzard should be ashamed of themselves.
    - The game doesn't work. (if you get in it barely runs)
    - They lied about new UI (Not there)
    - They lied about new cutscenes (Not there)
    - They took out old features.
    - Now if you come up with a creative idea for a new gamemode and you make it, they now own it.
    - They ruined the old game by making the old game share client with the new "Refunded" version.
    I could make the list longer but I'm not gonna bore you anymore.

    Don't buy this game, don't pre-order, don't support this behavior from AAA Studios.    … Expand

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
