CD-ActionSep 1, 2021Unto the End is a minimalistic, very intense and ultimately exhausting adventure that requires patience. Enemies are always faster than our sluggish hero and almost always unpredictable, so even a lone foe can pose a challenge, while a stronger one will kill you with one strike. Not all encounters seemed fair, by the way. [03/2021, p.45]

Dec 8, 2020While the sound design is gripping, the platforming is solid, and the puzzle solving is unique, Unto The End unfortunately suffers from a bloated combat system and harsh checkpoints.
-
Dec 14, 2020Unto the End just wants to punish the player. It feels like it went too far off the deep end of “purposefully difficult game” and ended up in kaizo territory. The challenge here isn’t fun, it’s just annoying.

Dec 8, 2020I’d say “I’m sorry, Unto”, but I’m really not sorry because I hate this sluggish, clumsy little arsehole and I wish he’d stayed dead the first time. Some of you will like him (and it’s worth giving it a go via Game Pass to see if you do). But that’s your problem now.

Dec 11, 2020While there are probably worse games out there, I haven't played any of them. Unto The End feels like that failed 10 years ago on Newgrounds.
