Undisputed brings boxing back to videogames with a passion that’s evident in every detail. Created by true fans of the sport, the game features a large roster of fighters and a refined combat system. Visually and technically it’s solid. However, some technical glitches and balance issues hold it back slightly. Still, it remains a highly recommended title for boxing enthusiasts.

Undisputed is exactly the boxing game I've been waiting for, for over 13 years. It looks fantastic with realistic damage and plays well thanks to the excellent and complex controls. Unfortunately there are some minor issues with repetition in animations and commentary, but if you can look past this, I see no reason not to dust off your boxing gloves and punch someone in the face.

For boxing fans, Undisputed is a promising franchise, but it still has a long way to go. Although the game impresses with its visual realism and the presence of sports stars, the gameplay is a direct hit to the chin, proving to be somewhat poor and full of flaws.

Pound for pound, Undisputed doesn’t yet have the chops to compete against the likes of Fight Night Round 3, but it’s pretty much the only game in town. This effort is far above other attempts at a realistic boxing game, and it mostly delivers on intense combat and solid animations. As it was with the game’s roadmap in Steam Early Access, Steel City Interactive is well-prepared and already committed to provide continual updates and improvements moving forward. Despite several weaknesses, Undisputed has a solid foundation for the developer to build upon. While it’s not a champion now, it is a contender worth watching out for.

Overall, Undisputed is a worthy product, which manages to bring “great boxing” back to the market in video games, a good fifteen years after the release of the last Fight Night. The core of the proposal is represented by an excellent assortment of mechanics, which grants ample room for maneuver both to those looking for a more technical experience, and to novices in the art of digital boxing. The balance between these two aspects of the offer, however, is not yet calibrated to perfection, and it is easy to notice a group of rough edges that, put together, hold the game back from expressing its full potential.

I came away from Undisputed frustrated. In here is an incredible boxing game buried under entirely too many bugs, balance issues, and incomplete features for launch. Maybe round 2?
  7. There’s a saying in the sport: you don’t play boxing. It’s a serious sport with dire consequences. Undisputed treats it the same way - it forgets it’s a video game.
