One of the best games I've played. The artistic story line and amazing characters created created a masterpiece of a game. Knowing that others will eventually play this game and enjoy it FILLS ME WITH DETERMINATION.

the game is unabashedly, unapologeticly Harsh to both the player, the character, The RPG industry as a whole and even the bad guy... it EARNS it's place as the Best game of 2015... and maybe the decade. If you play Pacifist Rout... YOU WILL BLEED for the ending.

Bad graphics, annoying characters, bad humor and horrible story, puzzles pissed me off, bad animations. The game tries to be something emotional and different but it fails miserably.

I simply don't understand why people can be so negative towards this game. I mean, the graphics aren't the best, not by a long shot, but they don't need to be to convey what the game is trying to convey. I had no issues understanding what was what, and I found the simplistic art made it easy to continue forwards without being distracted.

The soundtrack is good. Damn good. Like, "I'd stick this OST on an iPod and listen to it everyday" good.

The gameplay is fun enough. The difference between this game and standard RPGs is that, to avoid attacks, you must endure a small bullet-hell sequence rather than simply having high stats and praying to RNGsus. I like this difference as it means you have to actually get good at the game rather than simply grinding for better stats.

The story is enjoyable, without giving too much away. It also somehow manages to really shift one's view of the game at points if played blindly, and oftentimes makes players wonder "what if I did things differently?". The developer had a lot of foresight and seemed to know how players would think and work in certain scenarios, so props to him for that.

Overall, it's a good experience, easily one of the best games of 2015, and a game that I can wholeheartedly recommend to basically anyone.

    Undertale.
    What is it?
That is a good question. Arguably one of the best games in existence. If you are thinking about getting this game, it is absolutely worth the 10 dollars. From the vast range of in depth characters, to a completely unique fighting style, from the intriguing back story, to music that will provoke hundreds of emotions, this game is certainly amazing for 2016.

This is probably the best game ever.

I came into this game thinking that this was a normal RPG, unaware of the idea that you can talk your way out of every fight, believing that in the world of RPGs, its KILL OR BE KILLED. At the end of the game, I showed a flower that my previous view on the world or RPGs was wrong. This game is, without a doubt, the best game I have ever played.

Not only does Undertale convince the player that the world is NOT kill or be killed, but, if you do end up killing a lot of monsters, it punishes you, even to the extent of making you fight the most overpowered boss fight that at least I've ever seen, Sans (The game says, if you check him, that he is the easiest enemy, with 1 attack, 1 defense, and 1 hp).

However, if you complete a run without killing anyone and befriending everyone you fight, it rewards you with what I believe to be the most satisfying ending in any video game ever.

Lastly, Photoshop Flowey (Omega Flowey) is the most insane boss fight to get a perfect run on. I've been trying for at least a week to get a damages victory on Omega Flowey, and I haven't even gotten past his first phase. (Either that or I'm just horrible at Undertale.)

Whenever I hear of a quirky role-playing game, I immediately think of one of my favorite game series of all time: Earthbound (a.k.a. Mother). What sets this particular title apart, however, is that it has loads of original ideas thrown in the mix, providing an experienceWhenever I hear of a quirky role-playing game, I immediately think of one of my favorite game series of all time: Earthbound (a.k.a. Mother). That series's cult following has spawned quite a few projects inspired by it, and Undertale is the latest in that club. What sets this particular title apart, however, is that it has loads of original ideas thrown in the mix, providing an experience that is honestly unlike anything I've ever played. A mere clone this is not.

The world of Undertale is characterized by a struggle between humans and monsters. Humans, possessing stronger souls, won the war and confined the monsters to the underground. You play as a human child who inadvertently fell through a hole, finding himself stranded on monster land. From there you'll encounter a host of quirky characters in your quest to get back to the surface, experiencing some pretty great writing along the way. The musical score is also worth mentioning, as it's a superb collection of intensely hummable chiptunes.

What makes Undertale truly unique is how it allows you leeway on how you want to go about the adventure. Every single battle you enter, from random encounters to boss fights, can be solved through non-violent means (some of which further showcase the funny writing). Deciding whether to engage in combat with any given foe can have big consequences on the storyline, too, including future interactions with new characters. If you do choose to battle, though, you'll be treated to several different real-time, minigame-like sequences that make the whole process an absolute blast.

At around five hours from beginning to end, Undertale is short as far as RPGs go. This means, however, that the prospect of doing additional playthroughs, making different decisions along the way, becomes a lot more palatable. Right after I was done with the completely mind-blowing final boss fight, I immediately rebooted the game to start over, which really is a testament to how interesting the world and lore in the game are.

Undertale's main flaw, in my eyes, is how sometimes the storytelling takes away from the challenge. Often you'll be faced with a seemingly awesome puzzle, only to soon realize you'll never even get to solve it, all for the sake of a punchline. Other sections are so heavy in storytelling that gameplay end up all but absent, save from button presses to switch from a block of text to the next. It helps that, like in Earthbound titles, the writing has a pretty great mixture of comedy and poignancy, with doses of plain weirdness thrown in, which in turn makes you care enough about the characters that the extended dialogue sections aren't a chore to go through.

My main impression after finishing the game twice over is that the hype is certainly justified, as Undertale is a game that won't be easily forgotten by those who play it. Even if you're not that big on RPGs, there are enough quirks and new genuinely good ideas on display that just maybe you'll find yourself as enthralled by this curious little title as most people seem to have gotten.

Graphics is what makes a game good. So that should not be judged upon. Undertale has the best writing I've seen in a game. Unlike other games It keeps itself balanced. It stays humorous and funny, but staying serious when in it needs to be all while making you feel either disturbed or heart felt. But my reason for detracting a few points is mainly the game play. Now please don' for this hate on me, but I found the game play very lacking in Undertale. The puzzles were just filler for the most part. The only thing that made them enjoyable was the dialogue and writing Included in them. There were only a handful of good puzzles in the game, and they were short lived. The battle system isn't great either. Don't get me wrong I love fighting the enemies especially on a pacifist run, but the only reason for that is the writing. Other than that all the enemies are mostly just pushovers with uninspired attacks. The only good enemies were at endgame, they were a real challenge. In end I think Undertale is a wonderful game with amazing characters, a great soundrack, and the best writing ive ever seen, but it doesn't live without its flaws. Even if it is my favorite game of all time I do penalize it for some lacking game play. If they had done more with the enemies similar to what they had done with bosses then I would rate this game for more than what it is currently worth. Expand

It has a lighthearted feel, while at the same time having parts that feel dark. Not only Undertale has amazing writing and music but also unique gameplay - a RPG which you can beat by not killing anything. Even the game encourages you to use non lethal ways to progress. It never get's boring and is actually quite challenging in few boss fights. But of course you have the freedom to kill everything in your path. I don't recommend to do it as the first play-through, because you will not understand the plot.

The story is something that I will not spoil, the short summary of Undertale on this page says all you need to know. Try to play as "blind" as possible. I can say from my experience that there were parts when I genuinely laughed, when I shed a tear, when I felt sad/happy/surprised and even a little horrified due to some horror themes.

The game is made on GameMaker so the graphics are similar to something from a SNES game. Nothing special but is fitting for the experience.

This reminded me kind of a game called "To the moon" from the structure. That the story and soundtrack is the meat of the game. I believe if you like that type of game you will absolutely love Undertale.

I can't think of any objective criticism for the game. It's a very simple but sweet game. So that's why I give it a 10/10.

Through a combination of often relaxed but sometimes tense gameplay, a dreamy atmosphere, and genuine characters that feel like they’re actually alive and all living together in this isolated society of longing, Undertale transcends its medium and becomes a genuinely moving experience I would recommend to anyone who is open to a sometimes sorrowful, sometimes hilarious, always bizarre and engaging emotional journey.
