Feb 28, 2024Ufouria: The Saga 2 brings back a hidden gem from the past with cutesy platforming, loads of upgrades and seriously gorgeous visuals.

Feb 28, 2024Regardless of how you feel about the lack of challenge and the simplicity of the design, there aren’t really any noticeable cut corners. It seems to know exactly what it is. It’s a short (3-5 hours) jaunt through a lovingly created resurrection of an old franchise with a lot of untapped potential. It’s maybe not going to set your world on fire, but if you have any affection for Hebereke, then it’s a worthwhile tribute. Even if you don’t have the prior familiarity, its ease, pace, and quirks mean that it will be, at the very least, a comfortable experience...To put it more poetically, Ufouria: The Saga 2 might not be a game for your brain, but it’s one for your heart.

Mar 11, 2024Look past the game’s beguiling ‘arts and crafts’-inspired visuals and Ufouria: The Saga 2 is woefully unmarkable. Exploration, combat, and the game’s dialog are all just adequate, rarely producing the kind of enjoyment delivered by Ufouria 2’s peers. 33 years in the making, Sunsoft’s follow-up is tragically unessential.

Mar 11, 2024Frankly I can't recommend this new version of the classic, as it has nothing new to add to the previous one, apart from the odd villain. Moreover, it doesn't add anything to the genre compared to other existing Metroidvania games. It also spoils the good taste that Ufouria: The Saga left in the past, leaving a stain on its track record. Perhaps it is only suitable for curious collectors of the originals, for the little ones in the house who are not easily frustrated, or for those who are attracted by its visual finish and do not expect anything, in plot or mechanics, that is not too simplistic.
