My only complaint would be the choice to make your character mute, I hate this so much, watching myself nod along without ever saying a word makes me less interested in the story.

The division 2 is a sequel done right. It's fixed alot of the missed potential in the first game. Loot is everywhere and you feel rewarded by every mission. Alot of time is just spent by changing different loadouts and equipment due to the high amounts of loot, which is good.

The AI can be a bit weird sometimes but they try to flank you and most of the time it works really well.

The endgame has really been revamped and looked up upon. Once you hit lvl 30 and begin the endgame alot of the game opens up and you progress through World Tiers by doing strongholds.

The game isn't perfect though, it has its flaws. The PVP for me is just a mess right now especially in the occupied dark zones where the stats are basically the same as in PVE which means that all the damage that you do in PVE you do in the DZ. This enables people to make insane builds and just shred everybody in seconds. If you liked the darkzone experience i would highly recommend you to not enter the occupied darkzones and instead go and play in the normal darkzones due to the the normalisation in stats.

The story was bland and boring. The characters were forgettable due to the lack of personality. Missions were pretty repetitive, but the locations made it interesting. In conclusion the campaign just felt very lackluster and boring all the way through the only thing that made it a little bit interesting was the change in enviroments between missions.

Played the game a decent amount and as the trailers preach "it shines in CO-OP" I would agree it is quite a fun game co-op. negative is after reaching end game to really do any of the grind for blueprints or other things on harder difficulty you often have to play co-op. if you have enough people you can always be in a group with others it can be fun if you enjoy the game.Played the game a decent amount and as the trailers preach "it shines in CO-OP" I would agree it is quite a fun game co-op. negative is after reaching end game to really do any of the grind for blueprints or other things on harder difficulty you often have to play co-op. if you have enough people you can always be in a group with others it can be fun if you enjoy the game.

    negatives
-Glitchy rooms that will not load.
-random spawning/roaming enemies that can quite often cheat you out of completing a world event, this is worst when you spend 20-30 minutes leveling a control point for blueprint reward when you take it. then it forces you to chase an enemy down that wont go where it is supposed to due to a random roaming patrol ending with the event complete but no reward for you due to being out of the event border.
-lacking any sort of real change to enemy AI rushing or giving AI allies you can play with for those who may wish to play solo.
-having to specifically set up gear for skill powers if you want to put ANY mod on a gadget unless you got lucky and found then saved a low level one to equip late when max lvl.

Boring story. I won't give any spoilers but even people that like the gameplay thinks the story is boring. Gameplay is repetitive and requires almost no thinking. Find cover and shoot the bullet sponge npc's and watch your flanks. That's it.

Advertised as solo friendly - it isn't. Devs said the AI would be scaled for solo players but that isn't true. You will die and respawn so much

Interesting gameplay can make up for a boring story. And a good story can make up for the mediocre gameplay. But Division 2 is sucks on both fronts. After only 4 hours I'm so bored I never want to play this game again. Visually the game looks amazing and I'll rate it 2 just for that.

Played the beta heavily, and I've heard it has only improved after release.

The game is a mellow 3rd-person shooter with a hint of the apocalypse and a taste of open world freedom. That sounds awful, honestly, but it's a subtle stew that I enjoy a lot. You won't max out in the first week of play. You won't be able to be the best and have the best and slay the best after a Dew-fueled, 72-hour grind-a-thon. You will have to commit to this game, learn its mechanics, and slowly edge your skills, equipment, and perks along that pathway to greatness. Take this as a true apocalypse simulator, if you must. It's not always exciting, but it certainly can be, and those moments feel all the more powerful because of it. Those same moments aren't rare, either. If you want to press through the story, or non-stop plow through enemies, go for it. I took things slow, however, and meticulously felt out each opponent before attempting each surgical assault. It's got the makin's of greatness.

The Game is awesome. The Shooting feels right and the overall gameplay is tactical and with deep thoughts. Great amount of Content for single- and coop-players.
    The HUGE downside:
This Awesome Game gets beaten down by the lack of performance. Even PUBG runs better. The Game crashes 8 Times in just 3 hours and you have to open the Game in Window-mode or you have a blackscreen.

Great Fundament but bad developers in the technical area of this game.

As someone that's played over 700 hours (according to steam) I had a love hate relationship with the first one.

Leveling was great experience but only so-so for a solo player sometimes. RNG was a **** and meta's were the norm. There was pretty much only one best in class weapon, and most end game gear sets were nothing to write home about. NPCs were bullet sponges most of the time and would use horde tactics to overwhelm players.
And the bugs? Well those were the stuff of legends and exploits. Lastly and my biggest complaint the NPC spawning system was really punishing, especially at end game if you played solo. Well they did try to address much of the problems in the first game some still persist even today.

The second game is a vast improvement on the first in many ways. I've been able to solo up to level 20 so far without any problems. NPCs are less bullet spongy and tactics over just bouncing around has become a viable game mechanic. Bad RNG well still a problem seems better. But the crafting and modding system so far seems whittled down to a point where we really don't need it TBH. The missions are reasonably different, but not as varied as the first IMHO. The environment seems both more and less alive. There are no random people just walking around and everyone is in a militia type group. Also the litter is a bit overdone IMHO.
The developers have added a few new interesting gameplay elements and have brought over many that they introduced later in the first game. Lastly the bugs. It's pretty much the same story there. Way too many have slipped through Q&A. Even game breaking bugs that just shouldn't be in the game still. There are a couple of "projects" I can't complete due to the bugs. Like I said game stopping. I would of scored it a point or two higher based on the gameplay, my enjoyment, and all the improvements over the first one. But with the amount of bugs there are I just can't in all good conscious.

But overall the game is a worthy successor to the first and if you liked it I'm fairly confident you'll like the second too. Just don't expect a perfect game. It has just as many warts as the first one did at launch. Let's hope this time the developers fix most of the problems before everyone deserts the game like they did the first one.

Of special note is the strategy. You must use cover - there's no tanking here. You need to play smart. You need to be constantly aware of your enemy's positions, enemy strengths & weakness, when to advance and when to retreat, and your own health and armor. As you face higher level enemies, they have better and better AI. Expect to die a lot in the first 8 to 10 hours of game play as you learn the cover system, how to move from cover to cover, and how to deal with the enemy strategies.

    Highly recommended!

A big improvement over the original, with a more vibrant world that feels more organic and alive than NY (not sure why people are hating on this game being more colorful, go figure).

The story is crap but honestly who plays a looter shooter (or any dungeon crawler) for the story? The gameplay is intense and challenging enough to stay fresh even when the missions all follow a fairly generic "Go to X and kill Y" formula. The enemies are much less spongey than in the D1, and the beefy boys all have weak spots or strategies that you can use to take them down without having to unload several hundred rounds into them. The AI has definitely upped their game, and if you don't pay attention to baddies trying to flank you will die every time. Gun play is hugely improved and it actually feels like there is a variety of weapons instead of just the same gun with a bunch of different skins.

Lots of progression, great multiplayer in the dark zone, and the matchmaking system adds a smooth and convenient way to find people to play with if you are a big loser with no friends. On that note, I think solo is honestly easier than with friends unless you all are the same level, because the scaling system does not compensate as much as the increase in enemies when you are in a group. Missions are memorable and with cool set pieces instead of just the same series of corridors and open spaces to fight in. Just feels like there is a lot going on. I got tired of the first game fairly quickly but after reaching 30 last night in D2 I can't wait to keep going.

My only real complaint is the UI, which is admittedly terrible. So much crap on the screen at once, tough to navigate, and a lot of rewards and progression screens are buried behind this clunky and cluttered system, etc. Hopefully they can work on improving it because it really is a mess. But beyond that the Division 2 is a winner IMO, and better than the other offerings (destiny, anthem, borderlands) in the genre.

There is an extraordinarily large amount things do you, stronghold, missions, pvp, dark zone, bounties, capture points, and other smaller world map tasks such as supply drop captures, broadcast captures, hostage rescue etc. And those actually get improved later on in end game when you reach world tier 4 where those individually have different difficulty rating that climb the more they're completed, offering better and better rewards.
The gun play is just as fun as the original, the loot system certainly feels satisfying and for an online game I've not had a single connection issue so far with the game. I also really enjoy the new specialisations where you can choose between survivor, marksman and demolition. Each one gives you a set of individual talents for that specialisation and you get a signature weapon. Demolition gets a grenade launcher. Survivor gets a crossbow with explosive bolts. Marksman gets a high powered sniper rifle. And you can swap between them by visiting the base of operations whenever you want.

Some of my minor complaints are probably down to smaller things, for example I don't like loot boxes (That's just a personal opinion and it can be a controversial topic).
The UI can be a little confusing when you first game into the game but you get used to it fairly quickly, but it still has a few minor annoyances, like I wish I had the option to make selectable areas on the map have their large icons at all times so it was easier to find specific locations I want to set a waypoint on.
I've had a few bugs for example there was a gun where several skills would just disappear instantly and you would get a cooldown timer on the ability (However this has now been fixed). But I also noticed other bugs such as sometimes when I try and swap to my signature weapon it simply instantly switches back to the weapon I had equipped already. And by far the most annoying bug seems to be specifically centered around the District Union Arena stronghold as I haven't spotted it anywhere else but twice in this exact place. Sometimes one of the enemies seems to not leave a spawn room and then the door closes with them inside making it annoying to kill them and maybe impossible on some occasions as you can't reopen the door but you can't progress through the stronghold until you kill all enemies in the area. I've been lucky and been able to glitch fire through the wall several times to kill them but I imagine it's going to be impossible in some situations, and it means you have to restart the entire stronghold if you can't kill that one enemy.

Overall however, I've been having an absolute blast with this game, enjoying it far more than I did the previous game, and right out of the box as well without having to wait for content updates.

A great game that is as big and complex as you want to make it! Do the campaign only if you want, do the end game if you want, do pvp if you want, but even for the campaign it's worth the $60. Would be 10/10 had it not been for the randomizied cosmetic loot boxes and the small weird bugs like enemies teleporting.

It's smoother to play, consistently loads, doesn't over-buff enemies making them bullet sponges, and simplifies the complicated stats system that required a couple high-level statistics and probability classes to understand fully. It's basically what the first Division game should have been from the start and it was extremely imperative that Ubisoft didn't repeat history or the IP would have been lost for good. But what it doesn't do is refresh the gameplay to the point where this feels like a new and improved Division experience. Nothing feels radically better and I'm kind of bugged by that. It would have been nice for the developers to consider what steps could be taken to tighten up the gameplay a bit more and whether some new creative license could be used to make the skills system more impacting and varied. There's also the issue that i have in that the stats system seems to almost get oversimplified to the point where it's basically Division stats for dummies, vol. 1 and I don't really like that. I prefer the simpler version to the super complicated one but having the ability to deeply craft your agent's abilities and effectiveness in different ways is a big part of what makes any RPG game highly replayable and unique. Despite some of my wishes for changes or different paths for design in this game, it's largely a good game and while I don't feel excited to jump in to it like I did the first game I largely enjoy it. The biggest reason to buy this game is the lengthy campaign and deep, varied endgame content which transforms your general playable world and introduces you to tougher enemies and new specialization skills and weapons that at least offers some differences in gameplay but not in ways that radically change how you play - they're mild changes but they do have appeal and that's at least a good start. Then there's the guarantee that year 1 DLC is all free and Ubisoft has suggested that there will be 3 nice-sized expansions to Division 2 post-launch before it offers what is probably going to be a big expansion pack a-la Destiny's Forsaken, but what's nice to know is that these smaller DLC packs that are free will advance the storyline of the base game as well as introduce new missions and endgame content.

If you loved The Division's 1.8 patch then you'll love Division 2 which essentially takes everything that Ubisoft learned from the first game and applies that knowledge to the second game. If Ubisoft plays their cards right then Division 2 should have a longer shelf life, giving players 2-3 years of meaningful content to play post-launch and that would be a huge win in an era where nothing is truly free and DLCs are more of an afterthought or gimmick than an essential extension of good core games.

Whether you're playing solo or with friends there's something here for everybody. Even if you don't touch all the high tier endgame content there's still an enjoyable campaign to get through and a rewarding loot-progression system to accompany it. None of the time you spend playing this game feels wasted because you're constantly earning new items and loot. (unlike Destiny 2).

I have however, very few quarrels with this looter-shooter. The loot from bags and suitcases seems a bit silly (a crayon, a pencil etc.). I mean...a suitcase would normally contain more clothes and a bag would perhaps contain a bit more than a single crayon. This however is not enough to drag down the score. But the fact that enemies are still quite bullet-spongy is reason enough for me not to give it a max score. Overall an excellent looter-shooter with tons of interesting content. Well played Ubisoft. Also Optimization sucks, especially for such visual quality, on PC it looks worse than ARK:SE on Consoles, but requires more resources to run properly than ARK:SE on Highest settings...
Shadow and Light work is very bad for 2019 game, even BDO from 2014 looks better in graphics and especially in Shadow-works.
    Reflections also suck.
particles are annoying and some battles are very eye-heavy and annoying (yes, I understand that it's subjective, and that there are people who like it, but for me it's a huge -).
Also sound is quite bleh, some weapon sound like a nailgun, but not like a weapon, also they feel like that too.
Gameplay is also bleh, not fun for me, not bad, not good, very common for modern games.
And Macrotransactions make it one more Fee to Play game, even F2P games do not do such things anymore...
It's just a very common game. 5/10 -1 for bad optimization and uninspired graphics.

But i'm happy to say that aside from a few bugs, Division 2 comes out of the gate with an interesting location, somewhat interesting characters and plot, with improved shooting mechanics, AI, and more common sense things like spongy enemies being covered in destructible armor pieces. As opposed to the spongy enemies with no visible added protection in the original game.

There is plenty to do, something the original also lacked out of the gate. Tons of side objectives, loads of loot! So much loot! Loot everywhere! It feels like the Pier update in Division 1. Or... you know, Diablo lol. The loot drops are THAT plentiful yes. It's great! Once again, a stark contrast to the original upon launch in that regard.

Graphically it's just as impressive as the original game. I always loved the lighting in Division, and i always personally felt like Massive got the atmosphere 100% perfect. In this game, i feel it suffers slightly by not having snow, simply because the snow looked so, sooooooo very good. Especially in Survival mode. Nothing like it in any game to date. I'm a softy for snow, and when you can see the wind carrying it in different directions, brushing over the tops of cars, mailboxes and buildings... it's just something an original Division fan is going to miss probably.

That having been said, this is a nice change of pace, and the weather effects in this game are nice. Just not as impressive as a blizzard in the middle of NYC as you're dying of syphilis, trying desperately to escape the cold. There was something special about that formula... i miss it. But it by no means makes Division 2 an inferior game. Everything else is enhanced 3 fold!

It's just like Division 1 with a couple of patches and upgrades.

This game is also rather challenging, the right kind of challenging. You get punished if you make mistakes. I've haven't had any technical issue so far, so that's a good thing.

Most compete upon release that I have seen in a very long time. Used to seeing incomplete games these days upon release. This game is very welcome exception to that rule. Excellent work, Massive and AMD. If you like shooters with thinking and action you should give this one a try. Expand

There is a whiff of SWJ bulls*it with all the strong female leaders and audio clips with "male toxicity" and so forth. Story is really bad and cringy.
They didn't reinvent the wheel. This is The Division 2.0.
Gameplay is solid, though. It's a good loot shooter.

    Pros
    - decent combat
    - good graphics
    - decent end game

    Cons
    - too repetitive
    - not much different from first game
    - bugs

Wait until it's $10.00. It's not selling well, so they should drop the price soon.

Game is great. Really shows Anthem what a looter shooter is. Great level design, great content, hours and hours of playtime. Excellent job listening to feedback Massive, i hope they dont listen to content creators on youtube and ruin the game. They know nothing and are the biggest cancers in the industry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game industry today is so bad we have come to expect products to release half broken, in fact, a half broken product is within the margin of error from most consumers point of view. I strongly believe this now especially after I've seen enough of what The Division 2 has to offer.

It is highly praised for its endgame content, which starts after you hit level 30, which is in fact, just a replay for some of the main missions you have already completed but now with the added twist, gear restrictions and reskinned enemies that you have to progress through to be able to obtain items with higher "gear score" and increase your chances of survival in PVP. I know PVP is not for everybody but Ubisoft uses Dark Zone as a selling point yet it is severely unbalanced and unfair in normal AND normalized modes.

The main story lacks substance and is easily forgettable, the levels are well designed and vary from one another but the enemy mechanics are all the same. Stay in cover or flank the player. The AI is constantly aware and tries to counter react against the player. The instant the player presses the button to equip the grenade, several enemies will get out of cover ready to shoot, the same happens when player leaves the cover, if the player is not moving for long enough, enemies will use grenades or attempt to flank to lure the player out. This is about as we get out of AI and that is okay. However in the open world, capturing control points or doing random activities will soon become a chore. You will find yourself completely vulnerable in the face of an ambush from a random enemy "patrol" while you're attempting to complete any of those. You are very squishy, the game encourages you to think your actions but quite often, around 2/4 times in my experience you will find out enemies can spawn right behind you and instantly killing you. This aspect of the game is not challenging nor fun, it's just a fake added difficulty that does more bad than good.

The game fakes projectiles, it plays an effect of a projectile but the actual bullets are hitscan, I found myself trying to aim ahead of running enemies without any success of landing any shots, the only way to actually hit an enemy whether it is a player or an npc is to make sure you actually shot only after the crosshair has turned red, which usually happens only if you're aiming straight at the body, regardless of distance.

DX12 performance is better than DX11, too bad it crashes the game every hour or so. It is however on DX11 by default so most players probably wouldn't notice.

It is somewhat reminiscent of Defiance, it does many things right, but for every good aspect of the game there is also a bad one. It may get polished out in time but right now there are too many things that put me off. I've sinked 50 hours into the game and I'll stop here for now.

First off, let me just assert that from reading the negative reviews, at least half of those people either: never played the game, only played a beta version, or are complete dullards. I especially love the guy that rated it down because he doesn't play quests. Wrong game, son. Wrong game.

Now, some actual review comments. Yes, it seems a bit like Division 1.5, but that isn't a bad

Now, some actual review comments. Yes, it seems a bit like Division 1.5, but that isn't a bad thing. While it took a while, Division 1 made itself into a very solid game with a large amount of content. Division 2 has taken that progress and leaped a bit further ahead. The mechanics are more refined, time to kill is improved, and the murder for loot dynamic is completely intact. The DC recreation is superb, just as New York was in the first game.

Are there are few misses? Sure. The weapon mod screen sucks. Don't know how they screwed that one up, since Div 1's was fine. The menus are chunky, at best, and need to be improved. But they do work. Overall, the game is very playable and requires more tactical consideration than the first game. If you want to run around like Rambo and shoot everything in the face, this isn't the game for you. If you want to be required to think through a fight, watch your flanks, displace to avoid grenade spam, establish crossfire positions and utilize group dynamics and teamwork, then you need look no further.

Currently, the game seems a little more challenging. The AI is definitely improved, and actively attempts to flank more frequently than DIvision 1's AI.

Inventory management is improved, though attachments are potentially one of the only side-grades from Division 1 - each attachment has a positive AND negative effect (almost in equal measure, sometimes). Early on, I've found this sometimes negates bonus to little overall gain.

When playing with my friend during early access, he made the comment, "This is sort of like the games we used to be excited for." I can't agree more. There's content here. It feels like it's a worthwhile product, right out of the "box."

If you didn't like Division 1, you won't like Division 2. But it does sound like Massive really listened to the fanbase and made meaningful improvements on their already-existing system. Because the project is attached to Ubisoft, however, expect plenty of illegitimate/fake bomb reviews.

I definitely recommend this game for people who either liked the later iterations of Division 1 patches, or for those who are looking for a fleshed-out looter shooter!

With the experience accumulated on The Division 1, Massive manages with TD2 to excite our curiosity. Stronger, more generous, better built, the title succeeds where other games as service before it has struggled to. Thanks to its end-game, which renew the experience by adding content and skillfully recycles the existing one, but also thanks to this map of Washington, absolutely fantastic, which allows more than ever to immerse yourself in the universe of the agents of the Division.
