If you’re a fan of the Tokyo Ghoul series, you’re probably going to enjoy this title, and if you’re unfamiliar with the series but enjoy combat-focused games, you might get a kick out of it as well. In either case, wait for a sale.

With how much of the game is centered around combat, I expected it to have more impact but found a lot of my hits not registering and when the hits do land, it doesn’t feel as fluid as it should. It plays more like a PS2 title than a current-gen experience. Much of the game takes place in hollow arenas or narrow corridors and running through the empty rooms gets repetitive. As a fan of anime, I can appreciate the storyline and the art panels that fall page by page during certain segments but as a gamer, I see a lot of flaws in the overall experience.

    Bad roster

It's not a bad game. But while it has minor and boring characters like Akira, it doesn't have kakuja users. Think about it: How cool it would be if you could play as Yoshimura or Tatara? You have Black Reaper Kaneki in this game as a playable character, but not his kakuja form. Even when you awaken, he does not use his kakuja. You have the same moveset when you awaken as him, but I guess you gain slightly enhanced speed. Lol. You can play as Post-Dragon Kaneki, but it uses the same moveset and kagune as Black Reaper Kaneki, unless you awaken. I wish we had that awakened state of Post-Dragon Kaneki as a seperate character that we could play as anytime, but nope. I have to put minutes of effort to max out my awakening bar, only to use awakening of Post-Dragon Kaneki for mere seconds. That is unbelieveably dissapointing.

    Progression system

You can get a skill for your quinque (mine was Owl) that increases your attack by 100%, but reduces your defense by 50%. That is bad because I also noticed that best defense skill I can equip for another of my quinque (IXA) without getting another massive penalty gives only 15% boost to defense. At least you could make it 50%, or let us unlock more slots for other skills, I would be fine with it.

    Controls

I am not sure if it's same for everyone, but I often had a trouble hitting multiple enemies that surround me.

    Graphics

As for them, I am totally fine with them.
