Tokyo Ghoul:re [Call To Exist] is the rare anime cash-in that is both ambitious and chocked full of content, and one that franchise diehards can eagerly sink their teeth into and be able to take a deep, stiff drink from.

The controls seem pretty stiff and gameplay gets repetitive fast. It has everything a brawler normally has but doesn’t bring anything unique to set itself apart.

Tokyo Ghoul: re [Call to Exist] has some good stuff going for it: popular source material, well-designed (if uninspired) combat. But after a couple hours in, the shine of the game disappears and gives way to a repetitive and thin experience. With its steep price tag, it’s only a game for fans, and even the most hardcore might find that Ghoul simply lacks the spirit.

To say that Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist is a letdown is an understatement. This is a title poised to irritate fans, befuddle neophytes and generally just waste the time for everyone involved. This is a true throwback to ye olde days of bad cash ins. As one ages, nostalgia becomes a comfortable past time. Not in this case, though. Not in this case.

    - Jogabilidade

Again, Bandai are not caring what they produce anymore, there's absolutely no quality control/assurance with any of their games any longer.Again, Bandai are not caring what they produce anymore, there's absolutely no quality control/assurance with any of their games any longer.
The fact that anyone can justify its $60 and have Bandai deliver this piss poor quality of a game is ridiculous.
The animation are clunky, the fighting is lazily programmed as most of the time you're facing the direct opposite direction from your enemies and the hit detection is very inconsistent, the cutscenes are ridiculous as there's no voice acting and also have I mentioned that the animation look like crap??

This game is an insult to the manga/anime.

Refund it and stay away from this game.

    I’d recommend avoiding this game.

I’m a fan of Tokyo Ghoul and was craving actually playing a game based in this world. However it’s not worth it at all. Very poor level design and unimpressive environments. The AI is somewhat disastrous with NPC’s unable to navigate simple surroundings, running into walls, standing in fire, running backwards and forwards before finally deciding on a direction to run. Character models are decent enough for the most part with some nice physics simulations on certain characters hair and Kagune. I will say the actual use of the Kagune is disappointing, Kaneki only has about a 3-4 hit rinse and repeat combo, there are no combos at all in this game, you mash square and that’s all you get for a chained attack, triangle and circle function as special attacks that do a single repeated move, also a ranged attack that again is just the same animation each time. I have played other characters (including Quinx and Investigators) and they all revolve around this same attack set up. This leaves the combat incredibly bare bones so there’s little enjoyment to be had with the actual combat itself, hit boxes are incredibly inconsistent and the thrill of actually getting to use the weapons of this universe is lost within half an hour once I realised the lack of depth. I’d mention the co-op/survival modes where you can create your own character but the character creator is even more shallow than the combat and it just copies all the Story Levels with (as far as I’m aware) no unique content.

There is a story mode on offer here as well, following Kaneki’s journey, they use story boards to relay the majority of the story with some minimal effort cutscenes thrown in, I would elaborate but it’s a waste of mine and your time if you’re reading this. If you love Tokyo ghoul, resist the purchase, I made an impulse buy after disregarding all the reviews I read and I deeply regret the money I spent. Play the free mobile games or attempt to borrow this for free if you really want to see what the game is like for yourself, but as a fan of the series, I’d recommend you stay far away and just indulge in another fandom or Japanese game that’s actually worth your time and money.
