I couldn't finish Witcher 1, I didn't play Witcher 2, and I feel in love with Witcher 3. It could be the best RPG I've ever plained. It's definitely up there with Mass Effect series, DA: origins (Hated the Inquisition), KOTOR.

Gwent is amazing, the loot is fantastic, and the side quests and characters are very well done. I really, really wish all future RPGs are made this well.

Even though I'm from Poland, I was always approaching The Witcher series with a distance - I considered the gameplay of the first one lacking, and the second one was a little too limited and short for my taste, but I very much liked it anyway, but not as much as Skyrim for instance.

And then this one comes, right after I finally got my copy of GTA V, for which I waited a lot. I installed Wild Hunt just to check it out, with intention for it to wait until I'm done with completing at least the plot in Rockstar's newest masterpiece. Yeah, right.

Witcher 3 is THE most immersive game I've ever played. You can find stuff to annoy you within this game, like a lot of people are trying to, but don't do that to yourself. Just sink in.

Every second spent in the world, whether it's just sightseeing, exploring question marks, completing wide range of quests or even playing Gwent is filled with extreme joy. World is beautiful (it has its charm even on low/medium settings), plot is interesting, music is incredible.

But the best thing about this game is that it makes you feel responsible for your actions and decisions. Whatever you do, it has meaning. This is extremely rare in video games sadly, and here it's really, REALLY well executed. I'm amazed.

Witcher 3 might have its flaws, but at the end of the day, all of those barely matter. We just got epic game, that all future RPG games will be evaluated by. Hats down to CDP Red!

Every side mission felt so good and like they had so much thought put into them. The combat felt fluent and fun especially on the hardest difficulty, you had to actually prepare for each fight (with potions and oils). The story is where this game shines, it made me cry and laugh with some of my favorite characters dying and witty emotionless jokes from Geralt that were surprisingly funny. This game did have some flaws with bugs which weren't game breaking for me just funny like Roach flying and Triss's breasts bouncing with every change of camera angles but that is the only flaw I can think of. Questing/contracts have different conclusions depending on your decisions, and the amount of quests are basically endless. Combat mechanics are nice when you get used to them, and character build can vary greatly -- all of these things leads to amazing replay-ability (not to mention all of the different endings). Dumped about 80-90 hours in to the game, and I've probably explored 10% of the game in terms of total content.

Both DLC's are amazing, and distinctly unique from one another.

The story is top notch, the voice acting fantastic, and the world absolutely stunning and incredible. It is HUGE. I am 30 hours into the game and have barely even scratched the surface of the Velen the area after the tutorial area. This wolrd is absolutely massive. The quests are amazing as well. They are engrossing and many times rather emotionally moving. The Bloody Baron's "Family Matters" and the witch's "Mice in the Tower" quests come to mind immediately. I was torn as to what to do, and the results of my own choices clearly had an effect on the NPCs with whom I interacted.

It also runs well (using the lowest settings) on sub-minimum spec laptop. Even on the lowest possible settings it is visually gorgeous and vibrant. The world is alive.

I cannot say enough about this game. It is the best of the best and the new benchmark by which all future games will be evaluated. If you have not done so, treat yourself to this game. Get it. Play it. Enjoy it.

Worst things about this game are a weird gameplay, not real exploration (Bethesda does it much better) and a kind of boring main story. But all in all I didn't get bored at all and left me wanting more, this game deserves the 10 in my opinion.

There are so many things to say about Witcher 3. How fantastic story it has, how brilantly it addresses mature themes and topics, how deep and complex it is and how masterfully it simulates life in a medieval setting but there is only one way to truly experience this jewel and that is to play it. Do that and take a week or more off from whatever you are doing for this is going to be one hell of a vacation! You ll never forget this ride! The only shortcoming is that its already over for me.. how do I envy those who are still about to expecience it!

+ Gwent is actually enjoyable, to my eternal surprise
+ fantastic in-game bestiary that's worth reading just to enjoy it
+ tracking down schematics, hunting materials and upgrading your specialised gear is very satisfying
~ ...but the convoluted crafting UI will trick you into thinking it's more complicated than it actually is
~ disparity in levelling time between main quests where you'll gain 3 or 4 levels in an hour and side content that has you desperately scraping together that last 50 EXP points
~ combat quickly becomes dull on lower difficulty settings
~ some levelling skills are very obviously better than others
    - some users are reporting major bugs (however after 60 hours of gameplay I've yet to encounter any)
    - main storyline is a tired rendition of good versus evil and lacks the subtlety and intrigue of its predecessor (though it's undeniably more welcoming to newcomers)

    I don't normally give 10s for anything but I can't give a 9.5 and it's worth so much more than a 9.

A few tips: turn off hair effects, you'll notice a framerate improvement of 10-15FPS immediately. Play on one of the higher two difficulties; it's intimidating at first but you'll find it much more satisfying. Pick up every quest you can; even if you're 20 levels too low you can always come back later. Don't feel pressured to go everywhere and do everything right away; every village you come across will have enough content to keep you going for at least an hour or two. Invest your first few skill points into Axii: Delusion, it's helpful in dialogues.

And finally, if in doubt: spam Igni.

For those of you who haven't spent more than 15 minutes in a game from "The Witcher" franchise, this review is for you. I was just like you, until now.

The first question I want to ask is: Have you ever played a game that gave you such a unique feeling – no, such a wonderful feeling – the first time you played it, that you will never, EVER forget that feeling. And have you searched for that feeling ever since?

That is the exact feeling you get the first time you play The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Within the first few minutes of the game, you know you're in for something great. I can honestly say that I had no idea who I was, or what was going on in the beginning, but you don't really need to. Gameplay mechanics and beauty are all you need in those first few minutes.

Which brings me to my first real topic: Graphics.
The graphics are astounding. When you hear people talk about, "defining next-gen," this is what they're saying. The first time I played the game, I said, "Yeah, the graphics are pretty good." I can say this: The longer the play, the more you start to appreciate the sheer beauty and detail of everything around you. You can literally feel the hours of work put into each and every detail on the screen.

    My next point is gameplay.
So you know when you play a game, and you come across a really cool mechanic, move, etc.., that you absolutely adore, but it's overpowered – so using it for long periods of time is almost always just too good to be true? Like, "Wow, this is really awesome, but I can only use it once every 10 minutes!" I know we've all had that experience. Well, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt presents you with AWESOME elements of gameplay that just never disappear. Specifically? The Witcher senses to identify things in the world. Something so simple and wonderful, that in most games the developers would punish you for using it too often. But in The Witcher? Nah, dude. You can use that **** as often and for as long as you like, and it's GREAT.

My next point is the music.
Are you a fan of good music in a game? I know I definitely am. It means so much to me that it can, honestly, make or break a game for me. The music draws you in, gives you a sense of depth, or can you a literal part of the realm. Music that is just... off (for a lack of a better term), can straight up just drive your mood away. Nobody likes to play Skyrim with the Teletubbies theme song going on in the background. Nobody. The Witcher 3's music is beautiful composed and gives you the right sense for what's going in the story. It even helps me follow Geralt's personality, of which, I love.

My next point is story and "open-worldness."
Since 2011, when I talked about RPGs and open-world/sandboxy-type games, I spoke on Skyrim and pretty much Skyrim alone. The game was wonderful, can't argue that. But it did have some serious downfalls. Now, if you want to feel as amazing as you did in Skyrim, while fixing all the downfalls (most specifically, the stale-as-**** combat), buy The Witcher 3. The story is 100x deeper, to include the side quests (they definitely did not skimp out on these – they're wonderful), and the combat is intuitive, fast-paced and fun. Need I say more?

The last thing I'm going to touch on here are a little negative.
I originally bought the game for PS4. I got about 4 hours in, and couldn't shake the natural feeling of, "This should be played on PC." I've read the reviews for PS4/XBone, and yeah, the game is wonderful there as well. But I couldn't help to feel that they were just clunky. I had a difficult time navigating my character as fluidly as I liked, and some actions, such as getting on the horse, weren't as painless as I expected them to be. If you want to get the full effect of this game – gameplay, graphics, and all – buy it for PC. You will absolutely not be disappointed.

Lastly, this game was so good that it is literally the only game I have ever, or probably will ever, review.

Its story writing is top notch (novel like; which is obviously one of the most important aspects about a long haul RPG) with a very engaging main plot with masterfully interwoven subplots that influence one another and respond to your choices and then affect the world around you. . The characters are excellently portrayed and voice acted and really feel alive which endears you to them ( first time since mass effect series that I cared about the characters fate). Without mentioning any spoilers there are many truly memorable bittersweet emotional moments in this game which play on your heart strings. Just like previous Witcher games there is a grey morality action and consequence system with later unexpected repercussions depending on your choices; this truly is an RPG that responds to your choices with 3 different playable epilogues with hundreds of sub variations for the ending meaning the replay ability value is vast.

The only story improvements I would have liked would have been the ability to meet in game characters at the end of the game (when is still open world and reverts back to a state prior to the final endgame finale) otherwise it feels emotionally empty. Also (if like me you enjoy emotional involvement in deep RPGs/movies) and depending on who you romance during the main plot, it would have been nice to have had a bit more closure at the end (a cut scene or two) otherwise it can feel a bit abrupt (just suggestions). Furthermore and I think this is a common complaint it would have been nice to have a bit more Triss in the game or at least felt like who romanced mattered more than it actually does from narrative point of view

The gameplay is fresh and engaging without being repetitive, the world is a truly MASSIVE open world (and not just large but bustling with detail and charm) that rewards exploration and questing (no repetitive fetch quests here), and the graphically options on the PC mend bendingly comprehensive and rewarding. Ultimately a masterpiece.

Lastly I continue to be impressed by the genuine conscientious approach to game development that a small company like CDPR has pioneered, towards fairness and quality in the industry. No money grabbing poor quality half finished product producing by massive corporations here but a really commendable attempt and developing at supplying a top notch product. THANKS CDPR!

As I said, world is beautiful and convincing, even after 200 hours in game, I'm stopping from time to time to listen what people are talking about, to look how little girl plays with a stick like a sword or to admire the scenery. Game pays great attention to details. There is story behind even very small quests. You can read letter or dairy which helps you to know what happen to people. Game also gives you choices and allows you to play with different playstyles.

To make it short, i thought Skyrim was an excellent RPG, then i played The Witcher III...
This game is just incredible, i have only played it for 45H but i can already tell how awesome it is. The sightliest side quest looks like a real main quest. The map is freaking huge, it's beautiful, the gameplay is great, there is so much things to do... Thanks CD Projekt Red, thanks Bandaï Namco.

But what really makes this game brilliant is the character interaction and development, creating characters you truly care about - or truly hate. It's Story, characters, dialogue, quest/world/creature design are second to none of this genre. The world design can only be described as the most immersive, belieavable ecosystem ever crafted in any video game with an art style and atmosphere that perfectly captures architecture of mid european cities/village communities of it's historical time. Graphics, voice acting and music are of the highest quality. Gameplay is vastly improved from previous title...it is still not as responsive as Bloodborne or has the same quality of animations such Arkham series, however it more than makes up for it with an amazing variety of creatures and different types of AI, preparation through alchemy, learning your foes' weaknesses through extensive bestiary, use of magic signs that you can also use on your environment to give you advantage, as well as other tools at your disposal such as bombs, crossbow etc.
It is not without rough spots though...such as UI( Inventory system), AI ( horse riding), controls and camera as well as suffering from no small number of bugs/glitches. Honestly, until CDPR takes care of these things, I would give it a 9...however I'm rating it a bit higher to negate childish stupidity of those who downvote this game because they feel threatened by any game that surpasses their favorite title.
This is not merely another great game...it's place lies next to titles such as Chronotrigger, Half Life, Morrowind and others...games that mark a generation and leave higher standards for others to follow.

The main story at the very end becomes a tad tedious as just when you think its over you have to go and do something else.. but it was rewarding to see all of my choices throughout the game come out at the very end - and some of them I regretted.

Graphically it is a shadow of it's former self from what we first saw at its reveal, but I can forgive it for that simply because it is such an epic game.

The combat, crafting, loot and other intertwined systems all work exceptionally well - though I do wish that geraldt could carry more items as I often would loot too much... but perhaps thats more of a reflection on me than the game =).

One little gripe I did have was that character models were used and re-used quite often... but in the scheme of things it was minor.

It runs at a silky smooth almost always locked 60fps at FHD and I was able to easily maintain 50fps at 2k if I chose to.

This is a remakable game I could not recommend more. Any fan of the series should check it out.

Even when I went on a three hour epic quest after rope that I needed to make an armor set (seriously, rope is rarer than diamonds in this game!), I enjoyed the search and stumbled upon a lot of fun and interesting details and encounters in the world I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. The world CDProjekt Red has created is one that I cannot but praise. I find most open worlds to be uninteresting after a few hours, and oftentimes the story in such games isn't interesting enough for me to continue it, so I end up wandering aimlessly around the world until I quit and never play again. Fortunately both the world, story, quests and its inhabitants were more than enough to keep me playing for hours on end.

If you're a fan of the previous Witcher games, I see no reason for you not to enjoy this one immensely. If you're coming in looking for another Skyrim or a fantasy GTA, you're probably going to be disappointed. The Witcher 3 is first and foremost a story-driven RPG, not a sandbox. When I looked back at the story and characters in The Witcher 2 (a game I love greatly, despite its flaws), I realised how much better TW3 did these things. I have yet to encounter a semi-important character that isn't interesting in some way or a quest outside of monster and treasure hunts that doesn't have an interesting story to tell or a twist that turns everything on its head.

But do note that this is the opinion of someone who loves the previous games and mature, dark fantasy in the same vein as Game of Thrones. It's important to note that the PC performance is somewhat iffy, the graphics have been "downgraded" from the first trailers, the options for PC are underwhelming and when you reach the edges of the world, you are turned around (sometimes the edges are at very odd places, like the middle of a small island).. These things don't bother me enough to give it a lesser score, but could be enough to greatly annoy other people. So, as always, do take a score with a grain of salt, especially on Metacritic where people speak with 10s and 0s, and everything in between are as rare as golden dragons.

Oh, and Gwent, Gwent is addictive and could have been a small release on its own. Too few people mention Gwent, because to me that little card game is a huge plus.

As a story-driven, open world RPG with more than serviceable combat, and as a Witcher game, it is to me a 10/10, and probably one of my all time favorite games.

The feeling I got when standing for the first time in the middle of a forest with a howling wind and raining falling sideways while all the leaves and the trees where moving in unison left me in awe... just stood there for several minutes contemplating the madness of it all.

Combat: Fantastic, it growths more and more complex and rewarding as you advance in the game and you assing skill points and alternative modes for your signs. Dodging, rolling, parring and riposte is everything I wanted for for Geralt and feels spot on everytime.

Music and sound FX: Probably the weakest point. If you linger in one area for an extended period of time music can turn repetetive. It has some great tunes but I wish it appeared more sparingly and not every 30 seconds. Voice dubs are excellent on the other hand and every main character feels super distinctive and with a defined personality, hell, even the common folk you encounter in a lost village have something to say for themselves.

General Aspects: I would like to highlight the general feel of the game. The world feels alive like in no other game before. I once stepped into a village where the chief needed help with a monster that was murdering people in the outskirts. When proceeding to kills such monster I was given the option to spare its life because it was sentient and claimed the killings were accidents that it could not control. I chose to believe it and set the monster free from its prison. I informed the chief the problem was dealt with and everything is OK right? Nope, some time later a step in the same village again only to find out the monster I had set free had killed every person and I found the mutilated bodies all over the village. Blood everywhere and no signs of a fair fight. I come back once again to the same village in the middle of nowhere only to find that it is now a festering ground full of ghouls and other necrophages... I could go on but this example is enough to point out the absurd amount of work and love that was put into this game. So much care for details, so much work in the quests you can opt to take. etc. Amazing.

Conclusion: A game for the ages. If you are still not convinced maybe Gwent will hehe (google it!).

With countless side quests, which include "secondary quests". "Witcher Contracts" and "Treasure Hunting," the Witcher 3 is bountiful in activities. Of important note is that these side quests are given just as much attention as main quests, which means full cinematic dialogue and cut-scenes and many of them are just as enjoyable - if not more so - than the main quests. The world is gorgeous. If you want to experience its beauty to the fullest, I recommend getting either a gtx 980 ti or a Titan X graphics card. I have a Titan X myself, and I use ultra settings and maintain a FPS that ranges between 45 and 60 (I play at 2500 x 1400 resolution). I recommend that you also disable "Hair Works" as it's an unimportant graphical feature that can drop the frame rate by about 12 FPS.

The story, characters, and voice acting are all excellent. The combat is improved from the Witcher 2 and rewards the player who skillfully combines dodging, rolling, parrying, swordplay, and the use of signs and bombs.

Unlike most games that make the claim your choices shall bear consequences and turn out to fail in this regard, the Witcher 3 can honestly make this claim. Your choices DO matter as there are consequences that change the outcomes of various parts of the story.

This is the best RPG to come out in years and is essential for all RPG enthusiasts.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros:

    * Graphics are top shelf - love the wind effects on the trees. Attention to detail for the overall world is exceptional.
    * Just like Witcher 2 I welcome the adult-theme to so much of the story. Sex, adult situations, violence, romance, betrayal, etc. it's all fitting for a real-world experience if this were indeed a real-life experience in another world with the magic, other races, etc.
    * The Priscilla "Wolven Storm" song scene in the Inn - wow. It was like watching a movie. Fantastic job by the developers building a scene that tugs on your emotions, and forces you to feel empathy for this character you are playing as and the tough decisions and events that he's dealt with in his life, as well as the choices hestill has to make moving forward....
    * The relationship stuff between Yen & Triss...elaborate...truly an adult experience...
    * The immense detail to all the choices you can make that curb the story many different ways, affecting choices down the road a ways. This was very impressive by the developer.
    * Easily one of the best games I've ever played in 30+ years of gaming. Highly recommended.

    Cons:

    * Triss / Geralt breakup between Witcher 2 / 3 not explained before the game starts - missed opportunity by the developer from a storytelling angle, here. Could've done this with just a simple cinematic at the beginning of the game to summarize the "in between" details.
    * The endings (spoilers) - Developer did kind of a poor job setting up the way the ending is decided as the game can end several different ways depending on your decisions. Some of the decisions it hinges on just don't make any sense at all. My first playthrough I got the "Bad" ending for basically being protective of one of the main characters in certain situations which led to a truly dreadful ending that by the time it happens, you can't go back to your old save games as they are too far back and aren't saved any longer. So after 133 hours, if I want a different ending I have to replay the game from the beginning. I spent about 12-24 hours in depression after that situation. :) Now I am replaying the game.... so my advice to new players is you may need to spoil the ending for yourself a bit by researching what choices to make to get which ending as the "Bad" ending is truly dreadful and will really sour your outlook on the game after you invest the kind of time it takes to go through the entire thing only to get an ending like that. Food for thought...

    Other:

Fantastic Performance - game is absolutely beautiful in 4k resolution. 60fps butter smooth, so very pleased with the optimization of the game. This series (and this game) are both respectively the best I've ever played.

    + huge interesting world
+ no dumb quests (DA inquisition treats you like a retard in that aspect even though you are allegedly superhero, in Witcher you are one of many cogs in the geopolitical and supernatural conflict and the quests are just interesting)
+ graphics, downgrade? just check the uber settings on PC.
+ combat, was skeptical at first cuz of witcher 2 combat but WWH encapsulates how Geralt fought in the books, dodges, reading opponents, parades, quick jabs, rhythm and pace. Beauty!
+ number of references to books and Slavic culture + other Polish writers. It's a pity that western players will miss some of those but there are so many other that I'm sure they will catch and thoroughly enjoy.

    - i will let you know when (if) I find anything.

Masterpiece, Skyrim's enjoyment of exploration, Red Dead Redemption lone badass feel, Mass Effect 2 quality of story and characters, countless little eastereggs and flavours and most importantly - climate and atmosphere of the books.

After the gigantic letdown of dragon age inquisition I kept my expectations low for Witcher 3. So it was somewhat of a great relief to find Withcer 3 one of the most fantastic and absorbing games that I have ever played of it's type. Every aspect of the game rolls of the tongue as a solid 10.

Thanks, CDProjekt. This game is the best RPG to date. In the process, you have also effectively showed companies like EA and Ubisoft how to properly release a game and treat your customers. You are one of the few good guys left in this industry.

    Thank you :)

You know a game is good when it has you hooked after only 30 minutes of game-time. This game did that to me. Yes, it really is as good as everyone claims. It's one of those games you simply cannot put down. I found myself thinking about it way too much and itch to get back to playing it. Not many games do that these days, but this is definitely one of them.

Graphically, it looks absolutely astonishing. The environment, characters, textures, attention to detail, god, even the hair looks amazing. The weather and day/night effects are also top notch. You can truly get "lost" in a game world as lovingly crafted as this one.

The music is also very well done, it fits perfectly with the game and really helps to set the tone and emotional impact of certain events and areas. Truly, not enough praise is given to it, but trust me, it's really well done. Voice-overs are also a strong-point here. The characters (especially the "main" ones) are done extremely well and really help to immerse you in the world and form attachments with the characters.

The story and quests are also very well put together. Much less of the "go here, fetch this" crap that most RPG's use to pad out a game with content and much more involved and intriguing stories that mean just as much as the main quests in some cases. The addition of specific Witcher contracts, which allow you to go full on detective are also great fun. Some of these require a little research and preparation, rather than just running to a point on the map and button-mashing, giving them a surprisingly deep and complex vibe. There is also lots of content to keep you entertained - and as stated above, it's not just rubbish padding (I am looking at you, DAI).

At this point I am really struggling to find much wrong with the game. I suppose the only thing that is a little lacklustre is the combat - which can be great sometimes, or very frustrating at others. It could do with a little polishing given the amount of it in the game, but it is by no means a deal-breaker - and certainly an improvement over Witcher 2's. To be honest, it grows on you as well - being quite different to most RPG's I have played, but once you get used to it, suddenly it all seems to come together and work. So really, this is nitpicking. I found the keyboard and mouse controls difficult to get to grips with, but a few rebinds later and all was well (dodge key being bound to Alt by default was a personal bugbear). Also be sure to turn on "Hardware Mouse", or else the mouse never feels "right". Quite why it is defaulted to "off" to begin with, I don't understand.

The "Gwent" mini-game also never captured me (I just avoid it wherever possible). This is personal taste however, and a lot of people seem to really enjoy it. Never quite clicked with me though. Each to their own. Thankfully you can just skip these - including the "find them all" quest related to collecting every card in the game. So what we have here is an optional feature that some will love and play (no con to the game) and others will not like and skip (no con again), making this whole "issue" a non-issue.

Yep, that's it. I honestly cannot name anymore cons. Absolutely everything else about this game is good - better than good. So, all in-all, this could well be one of the best RPG's I have played in a long time. It is nothing short of a masterpiece. I don't give away 10/10 ratings often, but this game deserves it.

P.S. Team Yen, all the way.

I wish I could offer a more substantial review to potential buyers, but there's so much to do and see, so much variety, quests, interactions, even very small things and side-quests have consequences and interactivity later on in the game. Graphics are incredible and optimized. The narrative is the best you can hope for. OST is gorgeous. There's no way to really fit everything in this review so I won't even try - it's a unique game.
What I can say for sure is this: if you can invest any emotion in the main characters, any at all, this game will have blown you away when the credits start rolling. At its core the game is about its characters. If you don't like them, you probably won't like the rest. If you do - you'll love it. CD Projekt has stated this will be Geralt's last voyage. The developers will most likely never see what I wrote, but I want to give them a message anyway:
Thank you for letting this world go in the most satisfying way there can ever be. Thank you. It's probably the best game I've ever played.

And I have to say that I hate myself for it; and by "it" I mean that I ever doubted.

With 10h into the game, I merely broached its immense world and story. But I believe it's safe to say that the game is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I feel like a fanboy now, I really do. But the game deserves the highest scores, despite its few flaws. I'll break down my initial feelings in points, listing the pros and cons.

    Pros:
+ graphics, world design, character design
+ atmosphere, created by graphics, musis and design - the locations are stunning, gorgeous and immersive
+ dynamic day cycle and weather
+ characters: scriptwriting and voice acting (Polish version)
    + world-creation (a very gritty, realistic, so to speak, war-torn medieval-fantasy universe)
+ plot! (and side quests, where even "go and fetch X" sort of quests are well interwoven with the game)
+ the fact that you actually feel that your decisions matter
+ the depth of the world, story (and the multitude of journal entries)
+ doesn't require extensive knowledge of the Witcher universe
    + optimisation
    + etc.

    Cons:
    - the game could've run smoother ;-)
    - exploration and picking ups objects (especially indoors) can be tedious
    - combat isn't particularly interesting (though, it's spectacular)
    - apparently some minor bugs (thankfully, I haven't encountered any)
    - gwent (although the game is interesting, I feel that it doesn't fit into the general feel of the game; and it's time-consuming, damn, Ciri can wait!)

But to be honest, this is just nitpicking. The game is stunning, and in my opinion is the best RPG ever. However, take my opinion with a grain of salt: my first RPG was Gothic 1 and ever since I feel that a TPP action RPG is the superior to the Baldur's Gate, party-based sort of RPG.

And please, stop reading this. Just grab the game and enjoy it!

PS: Don't care to read any reviews or opinions which give the game less than 7-8/10. They're written by haters and aren't time-worthy.

    Cheers!

I have been PC gamer for over 25years, and I would say this is one of the best game execution that I have had privilege to play. There are few items which tarnish the perfect score, but even those are very settle. I will mention them here: constrained movement control can be very annoying, especially while in combat, Skellige map and quests being somewhat bland, lack of actual night and low visibility, lack of FOV adjustment, and few quests being glitched. Otherwise, this game has really pushed the bar in terms of visuals, story, and immersion. Sadly, it still dominates even 2 years after it release. it is important as gamers and customers, that we award games like Witcher III as exceptional, in order to promote this expectation for the future games. Giving the game low score, just because the genre is incompatible with ones expectation, does not help. Witcher III is a complete execution of state of the art graphics, animation, sound and story. Something that cannot be said for even some of the newest titles, like MA: Andromeda.
Kudos to CD Projekt, and I hope they continue this level of commitment and determination toward its customers.
P.S. to rate this game as "without story behind" is like saying Lord of The Rings is story about killing monsters and throwing a ring into the volcano. Which in both case would be Correct but very Flawed observation. Not all "?" should have the meaningful story, and player should certainly not pursue each one of them if they dont want to. It picks up nicely on the events of the previous two games which gives a feel of consistancy and immersion into the universe. I noticed that CDProjectRed even paid a lot of attetion to detail in 'recontruction' locations which was featured in previous installments of the series. Just one of the many little things that makes the game great.

Secondary quests are really fun, which is also quite unique. They are not simply all 'go fecth/ go kill" but are driven by interesting stories in their own right and even appears to weave into the main story and other secondary quests. Finally, the use of voice acting and cinematic/cut scenes is superb. You never feel like the developers got lazy and just texted it or made a half finished quest. Everything is kept at the highest quality.

CD Projekt Red have crafted a rich world full of fantasy, ambiguity and political intrigue. Even the seemingly smallest of tasks can become elaborate quests. The Bloody Baron quest line in particular is unforgettable. The storytelling, voice acting and relationships Geralt has make the world feel tangible and believable. The change to open world meant a means of fast travel was needed. Of course you can travel via signposts or you can get where you need to go on your trusty steed Roach.

The game can be quite serious but also knows when to have a bit of fun and humor as well. You can participate in fist fights and horse races. You can also play a round of Gwent. I liked the in game card game so much I even ordered the PS4 version of the Witcher 3 just for the Gwent cards.

There is so much quality fresh content to be had that never feels like its unnecessary padding. It has been a while since I last played a game of this intricacy. From the story to the gameplay, to the lore. Everything is nuanced in such a way that you simply can't help but be enticed. It works off of the lore set by Andrzej Sapkowski, from whose work the trilogy was based on, although non-canon, the game compliments the book series perfectly.

This is certainly one for the books. A game that will assuredly be looked back as 'genre defining', and its developers cannot be praised enough for the phenomenal work they have done here. It's simply one of the best games ever made.

You won't find any forced lecture on transgenderism in Witcher 3 which is refreshing after playing the Inquisition debacle.

    Let's compare:

Triss looks like a woman, Cassandra Pentaghast looks like a man.
Ciri is simply gorgeous, Sera looks like gollum.
Yennefer's beauty captures the imagination, Josephine's face is terrifying.

Witcher 3 introduces thought provoking and intellectually stimulating content. Quests don't feel like simple fetch & kill quests. It feels like an old Bioware game.

This game is absolutely gorgeous and runs at steady 60fps on my GTX 780/i5 2400 with only Hairworks disabled and 2 options being on High, with everything else on Ultra. The release was really smooth, I did not experience any issues within the first 12h of play. As for the game itself, the combat is even better than in the second game and the open world is definitely a nice addition. I'm just glad the the amount of mouthbreathers is very low on the review of the best game 2015 :) The Witcher has only been improved from 1 to 3, including tons of free content (DLCs) and only minor payable DLC at all.
If those brainwashed zombies want to **** and rant, please go back to EAs "Battlefront" and pay for your game in DLCs, thank you :)
To all others: pick this game up and

The first time I feel the next generation of gaming actually has arrived. It makes Dragon Age Inquisition feel like it's done by and for 14 year olds. Take notice Bioware + EA. This is the result of very talented people making a game THEY want to make instead of spreadsheets ticking one box after another trying to sort of appeal to as many people as possible while being politically correct. Excellent production value and post release support. Incredibly fascinating world that can be the whole range from gritty to delightful. A game for grown ups that deals with social issues that are as old as humanity itself. Very fun and challenging combat system that rewards skill and tactics rather then relying on talent trees and ability-spamming. The quest design is incredible for a game of this size. Every quest uses a plethora of mechanics to enrich the gameplay. Qustioning witnesses and examing places of beast attacks to pick up its scent and preparing for the battle does not get old. Investigating detective first, then monster slayer!
But the best thing about the game is the game takes it's time to tell every single little episode of main and side story in beautiful detail.

118 hours to reach level 35 (level cap?), did not achieve 100% of the side quests though.
Warning: that game is REALLY not suitable for kids !

Pre-ordered 5.11.2014 totally worth. I'm not genius at writing so let me tell you this.
This game has THE best side quests ever, yes, ever. I even lost track which is side quest and which is main campaign, and i love that you can do different main quests before others.
Love the leveling, exploring is very rewarding, very rich landscapes, just overall the developers hit the sweet spot

I had one con with this game which is the soundtrack. It just got repetitive after 30+ hours.

Btw: warning contains very long dialogues (but you can skip them)

The best game of current decade. You can play it wherever PC or consoles, it doesn't really matter, this game will hook you up and never let you drop it till the end. Masterpiece.

The Witcher 3 says no to all of this - it's a great game with a fully realized setting, it's a joy to play, the business model behind it treats its customers like human beings, and it delivers a story that finally hits the tone of the books.

Probably the best open-world RPG ever made, but it still falls prey to some of the genre's worst traps.

I've made it pretty clear that it's hardly a flawless game, but that doesn't change the fact that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is something pretty bloody special and you should absolutely play it.
