    It's rare that a shuttered studio gets to dictate the final grace notes of their body of work, but that's the opportunity Telltale had with these final episodes, and it's one that was not wasted in any way. The Walking Dead ends not with a bang, but an accomplished sigh.

    Take Us Back is a well-constructed but ineffective conclusion to Telltale’s The Walking Dead series. While the gameplay and presentation remain well-suited for the final hours of this journey, the waffling narrative holds back some of the episode’s final decisions from being truly meaningful. Although Take Us Back is not the lowest point in the series by any means, having the series finale falter in these crucial concluding moments makes each misstep seem that much larger as both Clementine and Telltale’s lengthy adventures reach their end.

    After a turbulent production, Clementine and The Walking Dead series have both been given the ending they deserve. Not all of Take Us Back lands smoothly, but the finale remains true to the tone of this season and delivers a satisfying conclusion that fans will be talking about for years to come.

    This season created problems and solved them, but the overarching themes of the series as a whole weren’t sufficiently addressed, and I feel as if the ending leaves too much unanswered. However, putting my feelings aside, it’s nearly impossible to hate on the final episode of The Walking Dead. It wouldn’t even exist if not for the outstanding effort from the developers and publisher, and for the sake of the fans like me, it was appreciated.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a solid 8, a great ending to the serious and I am happy to say the team did an amazing job with the final episode. But damn the starting point where you just die because you missed a button and it kills the immersion right at the boat. Also, really telling AJ that he needs to listen to Clem, killed Violet. I get it, but that just seemed weird. On top of that, why go to the flashback when you could of just shown AJ getting her out of there. The game did make me cry though, when it cut after the Ax was held up by AJ to Clem, it felt like season 1 all over again. Glad she is alive though and glad the team finished the game! Best of all, a choice actually made a difference in the game!… Expand
