so what i can say about this game - let me think - i definitely like it =D. as i saw a many people write something like 'meeeh its ok not great' or "rpg game must be better". maybe it because i not played for a long time rpg type game, with all this variations of dialog answer when u can beat the mission without killing anyone or get compromise between two aggressive fractions. yeah theso what i can say about this game - let me think - i definitely like it =D. as i saw a many people write something like 'meeeh its ok not great' or "rpg game must be better". maybe it because i not played for a long time rpg type game, with all this variations of dialog answer when u can beat the mission without killing anyone or get compromise between two aggressive fractions. yeah the biggest fun of this game i got by dialogs cuz it powerful "weapon" if u lvl up it more than 90 =D (yeah at the end i got something like 120 points in all language skills XD). but not only dialogue is pros of this game. leveling system, upgrading your weapons and armor (yeah is rpg what you expecting for?=D). partner system is important part of game too. maybe it because i never played fallout series but i think guys from obsidian done great game that can bring you a lot of fun =3 Expand

The FPS game mechanics are terrible. Bullet sponge enemies, poor animation, enemies deaf to gunshots happening within earshot, creatures that give up an attack if you step outside their zone. Resources (even on hard setting) are so abundant as to make collection devoid of challenge. Poor explosion and gun effects, illogical NPC behaviour. Fallout clone done by marketing commitee.

Well this game sucks... The story is uninteresting, the combat is bad and boring. the companions are not interesting except Parvati. Theres a lot of dialogue but is not good i ended up skipping it all the time and the performance on pc is horrible. i guess that the people who liked this game and overlooked the million of flaws it has are die hard fallout fans.

For an RPG the dialog and choices are just blend, it lacks meaning and dept. For a shooter the graphics are bad, and the gameplay is clunky.

Plot good, nice companions at least for me, Parvati is one of the first voices in games i heard that doesn't sound artificially. The time slowing V.A.T.S. is better than the one made in Bethesda games.
    Just make a sequel.

This is a truly extraordinary game. While it's true that it's smaller than comparable Bethesda games (Fallout NV, or Skyrim, for example), every aspect of this game is, in my opinion, done better. While it's true that it's smaller than comparable Bethesda games (Fallout NV, or Skyrim, for example), every aspect of this game is, in my opinion, done better. Companion interactions, while smaller, are deeper and more meaningful. The story, while shorter, is more emotive. Every single thing you do has consequences, and those consequences don't feel like they're at the mercy of an unrealistic numerical system, like in many comparable games. The ending (no spoilers) reflects many, MANY choices you made during the game, and every single consequence makes sense. The advancement system is more pleasant to work with, while still being exciting. The gunplay is more fun. The weapon mods, while less extensive (remember: smaller game), are easier to understand, require no grinding/scavenging, and make the weapons not just more effective, but more fun to use. The NPCs are deep. Character customization is a lot of fun. The characters in the game don't all look like they have disfiguring birth defects (looking at you, Elder Scrolls). The dialogue is realistic. The graphics are astounding. (I repeatedly found myself just staring at stuff.) There are numerous hilarious "Easter eggs" that are fun when you find them, but are not required to enjoy the game. (Examples: there is one document where they mention "turoencabulator"--look that up on YouTube; there is another place where you can discuss the merits of a "suggestion box" with a quest giver, to hilarious effect.) The flaws system is fun, if somewhat hazardous.

You really should buy this game or play it as part of a subscription service. Currently, XBox Game Pass (beta) lets you get this game and a gaggle of others for 3 months, for just $1...

Of course, like any game, it isn't 100% perfect (just mostly so). You can seriously mess up your character if you take the wrong flaws. Don't take flaws that reduce your temperament, or you'll no longer be able to regenerate health without using items. Still, unlike with many comparable games, I didn't run into anything where I said to myself, "This is broken". I don't doubt that someone will be able to come up with things they don't like about this game, and that's OK; but I honestly can't find any noteworthy flaws with it.

This game is a masterpiece. If you like the FPSRPG genre, you owe it to yourself to play it.

The game doesn't allow you to create a normal-looking female character, they all look like men, and I cannot play the story on console because the game is very poorly optimized for consoles and doesn't include a 60fps mode giving me headaches, for a game with 2010 graphic fidelity.

There are no mods to center the crosshair. There has not been a peep from the devs about patching the crosshair. It is simply off-center and if you play a lot of FPS games, it's *never* going to feel right. It felt like I was fighting my own hand and brain performing simple actions. I have never before in my life felt nauseous playing a video game; The Outer Worlds really accomplished the impossible by shooting itself in the foot with some hardcoded nonsense that nobody asked for.

Its a really good call back to the good old days of Fallout. Even though this is an entirely new IP, it will remind you of the Masterpiece New Vegas. Plot, Characters and Story are done well, so is the gameplay, There is nothing quite exceptional or massive about it, but the game sure brings a smile to your face whenever you boot it up, give it a try :)

Outer World is like fun mix betwen Mass effect done good and fallout done good
-combat is rl simple and melee attacks are hard to connect

-female characters looks like trash all of them are so weird and just strange
-every character have like 1 body model with same height and build its just off
-character creator is OKEY if you blink a little and ignore the fact that this is FPP game and you cant even seee your own face in dialogs with npcs :D
-NPCes barely move, some of them are patroling few of them might even visit hause and sleep for a while or just stand there and wait
-Dialogs are good, my character can alvays find fitting response for himself
-Choices in quests are real, 1st map dont give you mush sense of complexity in player choices, but they gets better later and can completly change your experience
    -finaly NPCes are mortal
-Defficulty is a joke, 1st 3 affect only how mush you wanna limit combat to use only most effective tactics/weapons (2x stunning companions and long range rifle)
Supernova offer this hardcore mode features from new vegas, but its all in, you cant just select Enemy dmg/enemy HP/survival elements/mortal companions, take it or swallow "normal" where fun builds are useable
-Grafix are outstanding, besides character models thats looks like sh*t, game areas are great
they looks absolutly stunning, every planet looks diferently and have own theme
-game is utilizing same enemies many times, i know we have it everywhere else, but fuk it i ll point that out everytime its happening as my sign of the protest
-Combat is avoidable/optional you can avoid many conflicts with dialogs or just being sneaky
it will cost you fair dose of experience, but PACIFISM is reward by itself
-You can respec your character quite easily in case if you are struggling to find fitting build to your playstyle - thats ok
-Flaws system is fine, during your adventures your character can gain negative traits that will create some sort of weakness in exchange for perk point, this is not fair deal for the most times, but it is a another choice to build unique character
-Game lack some sort of crafting system or something to utilize most of the loot, items just jump into your inventory and i bet you dont even need to pick up anything just rush thru the game
-Economy is quite solid in The Outer Worlds, selling your junk dosnt get you to the fortune like in most RPGes, but it can help to effort basic needs ammo/healing/drugs
-Dead characters stays dead and every character you meet can be killed
-Your companions and npces have few dialog options to dont say same things over and over
-Character build affect dialogs a lot, sadly for the quests not rl, maybe to unlock most hidden options during specific story path
-Character progression is good, you can feel like every level matters and push your limits, game encourage you to invest points mostly in out of combat skills if you wanna interact with the world, but aiming for combat skills is rewarding
-Perk system for main character and companions sux, some perks looks mandatory for any run, but the rest are like whatever, for companions its kind of worse they gain too few perk points to specialize them in anything fun and never gets 2nd ability which makes them repeat same move to the rest of your adventures
-solo play as lone wolf have pretty mush only downsides, game clearly says "strength in numbers"
companions works in the dialogs, have interactions with random npces, works in combat and are invisible to enemies if they cant see you lone wolf perk cant overcome all perks and sh*ts companions adds to the table
-Armor design is bad, all armours looks weird or okey for best and you cant change colors or customize them anyway, just throw bonus upgrades to weapons and armour and play
    >Unreal engine 4:
--game is optimized rl well wasnt like that for launch exacly, but current state of the game is amazing and enjoyable, game works smothly and have a lot of charm, its easy to alt+tab or get screenshots/quicksaves/stream/anything
-Being UE4 game made The Outer Worlds unmodable - no fun allowed
you wanna have all characters remodeled? NOPE, no fanmade models, no fanmade DLCes
    >Being EGS exclusive
-i cant blame Obsidian for taking this deal, taking off 20% of the costs and getting extra founds alvays helps, just 60$ for Epic game is not something for my stomach and i would strongly advise to think about buying it on epic twice
I played it with Microsoft gamepass, for 1$ and as mush as i dont like such gamepass model, for pearls like Outer Worlds it was worth it, i ll totaly hunt in on Steam or GOG if it will be possible, preferably cheaper than EGS price

Game deserve all the praises and most of the critics pointing out cons and pros are right
my review is subjective, but to justify all my playtime 9/10.

A space RPG, without the elements which don't contribute to the story directly, like unnecessarily detailed crafting, homebuilding, excessively branched skill trees etc. I don't like to struggle with these stuff, so The Outer Worlds has been a purely story ridden adventure for me.

Graphics, UI, level design, combat etc. all satisfied me well. Especially liked the art style of the game.

The only not positive comment I can leave is the palpable weirdness in nearly every dialogue and personalities of characters. Whole character of Parvati, the somewhat-cringy allegedly-cool dialogues of Nyoka, the idea behind creating the personality of Vicar Max, the far from being original crazy professor Phineas, important faces of ALL factions, the cuteness in cute characters, the edginess in edgy characters. After seeing all these I feel like I kinda know what kind of people the developers behind these parts are. Feels like all the conversations in this game are written by a guy who learned the world and social interaction through movies, games and TV, internalized tolerance not by genuinly believing, but because it is the norm in this circle now. This feeling hit me nearly in every conversation in the game, and near the end, this started to bother me very much.

Even though I found the dialogues kinda cringy, and the story not genuine and not original, I liked them too.

It's VERY demanding on your video card; my Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 seemed stressed for the first few seconds of each new vista, and the fans ran a lot. The story was reasonably interesting with a nice variety of NPCs to interact with. Voice-acting and art were of good quality.

Occasionally the keyboard controls were non-obvious, so I had to get a cheat sheet from the web. The retro-themed furnishings and tech seemed out of place, given FTL drives. The launcher is not ready for prime time: on my WinX system with reasonably capable hardware, the launcher was unable to reliably update the cloud saves it insisted on. I wound up with some annoying delays while it tried and tried, and some very kludgy starts near the end. Playtime was relatively short for the price, though it depends on how thoroughly you explore and work the side-quests. Getting into my library at Epic was often impossible due to problems on the website.

Most of this game's problems may be fixed as 2020 ripens, though it surprised me that they weren't already. It's entertaining but not best-in-show.

The problem with this isn't that it is a bad game (far from it), but the fact that it failed to reach its true potential… or maybe the expectations were simply too high, because there's nothing here that anyone can point to and say that it is terrible. Sadly, there's almost nothing that's great either, apart from the role-playing element and the quality of writing. The gunplay? Ok. The exploration? Decent. The plot? Fine. The dominant feeling here is of a game that is good enough so that you won't hate it, but also not as good for it to be the flawless classic that it could definitely be - but again, that's probably those darn high expectations speaking, because flaws or no flaws, The Outer Worlds shouldn't be missing from any RPG collection.

Usually, a planet has just one or two settlements and a bit of wildlands to explore. But that’s for the best – instead of exploring miles of filler content, Outer Worlds keeps you moving from planet to planet, from one tense situation to another. [Issue#241, p.34]
