As the great dwarven army musters, tensions remain high between the Longbeards, Stout-axes, and Zhélruka, threatening to break the already fragile alliance before they can recover and restore their birthright. Meanwhile, thought to be fractured and pushed back by the dwarven victories, the host of Orc-Chieftain Gorgar the Ruthless now unites under the true Lord of Gundabad - the fearsome, great dragon Hrímil Frost-heart - who will stop at nothing to bring an end to Prince Durin and his followers.

Battle as the new Brawler class, take on new foes, forge new Legendary Weapons, and stand at last against Gorgar the Ruthless and Hrímil Frost-heart in a final, decisive battle. Achieve victory and Gundabad will belong to the dwarves once again, and forever!

Overall, The Fate of Gundabad expansion is a huge addition to the LOTRO world, even without some of the key pieces missing from this patch. I didn’t want to give away any of the stories but be assured you will be doing a lot of running around helping the dwarves so get your best horse ready.

I’ve really enjoyed my time in Fate of Gundabad, and while it’ll be interesting to see how the story of the Dwarves progresses from here, the journey has been worth it overall. The Dwarves are an interesting race in Middle-earth, often overlooked in favor for Men or Elves, so seeing them get their due after years of fast tracking the War of the Ring story has been a nice change of pace. The Lord of the Rings Online: Fate of Gundabad reminds me of LotRO of old, and that’s a good thing. I can’t wait to see where they take us next.

The region itself lacks a lot of the grandeur we had in previous regions, with Moria (released in 2008) being the easiest to compare to. The instanced group content is lacking as well, with only about a third of the content released even compared against the last expansion from 2019. Gear and itemization looks like an after thought, making player progression a slog. Crafting is stale and pretty much unnecessary, and endgame is basically non-existent. The devs have shifted more towards RNG based loot drops for upgrades as well, in what looks like a transparent attempt to force players into continued interaction with events long past their flavor going sour. This years Christmas/Yule event being a notable example. I can't in good conscious recommend this to anyone now. It honestly feels like the game's developers hate you. Expand

It's unbelievable how broken, buggy, and clanky every aspect of this game is. There is literally nothing it does right.

From the beginning you're hit with their overly complicated systems and windows and minutia. Instead of waiting like real MMO's do to slowly teach you all the various components of the game, so much of it is thrown at you all at once.

The combat is janky and odd; classes don't move like real people, but like robots (many melee attacks are wooden); other classes might move more realistically, but are slow or clumsy (Lore Master incessant inductions, for example).

The quests are the worst kind of busy-work minutia fetch quests. Literally half of the content in this game is just running back and forth.

You'll have to Alt-Tab out at least once an hour to research how to solve some stupid intuitive quest; it's like they didn't make this game for everyone; if you're neurotypical, good luck trying to grasp what you're supposed to do half the time. You'll also probably have to drop at least one quest an hour because it'll be glitched (but you'll only find this out after wasting an hour or two on the lead up quests).

There are so many systems that they introduce, that they then apparently gave up on, never updated, but just left in the game. Crafting, various dailies at big cities with armor that you'll outlevel before you can get them, Rohan mount combat, the allegiance system, on and on and on. Crap garbage they throw out there, then forget about and move onto something else.

They have these 'epic battles' that are just total garbage; google it, you'll see all honest people hate them.

Unnecessarily complicated systems, currencies, requirements to get various gear, etc etc. Who the hell thinks in such a way to make a game like this?

Even their stupid cash shop is unnecessarily complicated.

If any other business besides video games behaved in this manner they'd get nailed for committing fraud.
