    A job well done, even if it’s not particularly creative and original. This journey onto planet Earth destroyed by an apocalypse in which you’re trying to build a thriving colony can become gripping and addictive easily enough.

    Surviving the Aftermath offers sound building sim gameplay, but it loses a lot of potential due to grind and missing content.

    What you’re left with is a decent game, and that’s disappointing because it could have been more. For some reason, Paradox played it safe and didn’t build on its own and the game’s strengths. If you want a different take on the genre, it’s worth picking up on sale, but there are better and more interesting examples to spend your time and money on.

    Surviving The Aftermath is a competent enough entry in the “keep your tiny people alive by making sure they’re collecting enough resources and researching the right things to spend them on” genre, But a quantity over quality approach to systems and an uninspiring setting mean that the lingering echoes of better games make me wish I just was playing those instead.

    Whilst there's lots here to keep fans of management and colony building games entertained, there's still a lot that needs to be worked on. The use of 'specialists' who explore the world map, feel like they need an overhaul so that this part of the game is more engaging, and the point of having them feels more important to the overall wellbeing of your colony.The fact it's in early management still is good, as hopefully these issues will be addressed, and the actual colony building side of the game provides a lot of fun. [Early Access Provisional Score = 60]

    Very enjoyable - spent 40hrs to complete main quest line. A survival builder based in the post apocalyptic world.
