  1. This time around there are more units to build as well as new traps and siege equipment to help out on the battlefield.

Sadly, regular combat again proves Stronghold's downfall. Units require extreme babysitting. [Dec 2006, p.100]
  3. A thoroughly enjoyable game with a deliciously retro feel, despite the somewhat improved (but still lack lustre) graphics and the adorably camp accents.
  4. The fantasy armies really do provide a fun twist, and the castles that are rapidly erected in Stronghold's clever building system are stunning. Ultimately though I wish this game had been Sandcastle: Legends, but it completely wasn't.
  5. 57
It's perhaps a little unfair to criticize a game for not being what it never intended to be but we're still confused that Firefly decided to take a step away from the series' castle simulation roots and opt for this rather generic and bland RTS experience.
  6. Say good-bye to the historical authenticity of Strongholds past and hello to one generic, seriously flawed fantasy RTS.
  7. There's really no reason to buy this game, especially if you're expecting anything resembling a return to Stronghold's roots of castle-building sim.

Best Stronghold out of the series. This is the closest game i could find to BFME2 so its the Best RTS on the market right now. The otherBest Stronghold out of the series. This is the closest game i could find to BFME2 so its the Best RTS on the market right now. The other stronghold games were too much Sim and not enough focused on the combat. This is the one that focus's on the Combat and it does it well. You can still find matches online although its better to just play with your friends anyway. There is a ton of player created maps as usual for stronghold. Expand

First off its super buggy - I have yet to have a game last longer then 30 minutes without a crash, had to reinstall it like 5 times and best of all it doesnt have LAN multiplayer (in this day and age which is a crime). Second, it adds new units but takes old ones away, they havent improved the graphics at all - so the one that looked bad in Stronghold 2 now look really bad, the economic side of its been killed off, its all about combat now but they havent fixed the combat system up so its like a bland generic RTS with bad graphic rather then a quicky, fun, differnt castle sim with bad graphic like number 2.
