Having already put about 700 hours into Stellaris so far, the new anomalies, event chains and various storylines added by the Distant Stars story pack managed to fill me with a sense of wonder that I hadn’t really felt again since first playing the game back in May 2016.

The addition of new anomalies, leviathans, and gates to new systems Distant Stars does a great job of continuing the ongoing expansion of Stellaris. The game is an immensely enjoyable experience and the new features serve to give even more variety in each match.

In the end, Distant Stars is worthy it for the extra anomalies and the novelty of the L-Clusters alone, though it’s hardly a must have. Paradox’s ongoing support is commendable, but the studio has consistently failed to fix issues that have plagued the game for nearly three years now.

Stellaris: Distant Stars is an example of DLC done right. Some of the DLC in the past has not fared well, but this is a clear exception. New content, new balance changes, and a new experience, breathe life into what is definitely a game that is really starting to come into its own light. Fans will want to pick it up for sure, and those who have not touched the game in a while will certainly find a new reason to load it back up.

Ultimately, Distant Stars is an interesting expansion that expands the game’s content without pushing any boundaries. It doesn’t increase the game’s scope but given how bare the current mid-game is and the sheer number of new anomalies added in the DLC, it is hard to pass this up.

The patch broke the game for now. A lot of mods need to change syntax, planet spawn is bugged, AI is dumb like never. Game has slowed a lot.The patch broke the game for now. Dammit guys, why did you decide that playing along star lanes will be fun!? It's so booooooring, and slow, and boring again. You are notDammit guys, why did you decide that playing along star lanes will be fun!? It's so booooooring, and slow, and boring again. You are not master of orion, your star map is way more dense. Please, return a normal Stellaris travels, not this lane-lame only thing. Also, bugs. I got gray nanites invasion, but i wasn't able to stop it, though i conquered all their stars. I tried to play 2 times, and uninstall it twice angrily - you just spoiled your perfect game.
    The verdict - non-playable
