Don’t pay attention to the user scores, the game is being review bombed! It is on Game Pass so you can try it. People will be playing this game FOR YEARS and Bethesda will continue to support the game with patches and expansions (One already announced) Bethesda created an incredible achievement and I am happy for Xbox to have a true generational game. Hopefully this is the beginning of a great Bethesda + Xbox relationship with new and innovative IPs such as Starfield and HiFi Rush. Everybody at Bethesda should be proud of the masterpiece they created!

Would you like to play a dumb down version of No Mans Sky? How about we trow in a clunky old fallout mod? It might not be fun, but the graphics are really nice if you stand completely still. We even have heavy motion blur on by default!

Seriously though, the ads are dope, the game is not. Buy Baldors gate 3 instead, thats the real deal.

Completely horrible on the PC, I'm stuck in the mission for two days talk to Vladimir the ship doesn't dock on the PC, another main mission here is gone, besides the horrible performance on the pc and graphically it's not all that. What a pity I liked the game and I just can't play the ship doesn't dock in the missions, before that I don't know how to get through the horrible experience on the pc!

Starfield, a vast galaxy of boring nothingness and lost potential. . What a shame! I'm a Bethesda fan, but I need to stay objective here. Want exciting combat and/or real exploration? Then sorry, this is not your game. The critics who gave this game a 9 or a 10 are not objective in my opinion or got payed for it.

For me this is a game like Mass Effect, but without the great story, storytelling, cities, good combat and the amazing characters. I just expected much more from a project of this size and scope. It's been in development for 7 years by a developer that has all the budget, tools and manpower they need... . It's like they know that the modding community will add all the extra's and fix their game.

    My feedback:
*Very good and sharp visuals for the most part, but some stuff just looks weird.

    * You get thrown into this game with little to no explanation. Good luck figuring it all out!

    * Building your own ship is really cool, but you don't use it for what it's intended to be. So it's a cool and fun gimmick.

    * Better get used to the bugs and glitches, it will happen often.

    * The weapons etc are nice, but the combat is dull and boring.

    * The enemy and team NPC AI are really bad. They are just plain stupid.

    * Plenty of NPC dialogue, but the characters look at you like a plastic zombie with little to no expression. The dialogue is not really engaging too.

    * Inventory space and management is just a joke. Do the devs actually play their game? How many huge money making RPG's does Bethesda have to make to get this right?

    * Looting 1001 carrots, apples, phials, ducktape, screwdrivers etc to sell at an NPC for credits is really not oké anymore. It just sucks. It's like Bethesda is stuck in the past. Same note: do they actually play the game and go "wow this is fantastic, we should keep this?"

    * NPC vendors don't have enough credits for all the crap that you want to sell.

    * No mini map! It can take you a looooong time to figure out where the vendors are.

    * Space combat is not really exciting. The same for the exploring.

    * Wanna explore the universe or planets with your ship? Nope! It's just press a button and teleport! 1000 'planets' of pretty much nothing.

    * Most of the main NPC characters are just dull. If feel no connection with them what so ever. The only one I kinda like is Sam Coe. he NPC characters are a bit too chatty. For some reason, they all what too talk to you for some reason... . Endlessly talking about their private life, loved ones, lost husband, daugther... . It's a nice attempt for creating a bond with the characters, but does anyone really care about conversations like that?

    * Do I regret my 100$ purchase? I should've probably just bought the standard version. Or try it out first on xbox game pass. It's a oke fill the gap game. But it's really not what I thought it would or could be.

Let's just hope that the Elders scrolls 6 will be much better. Just plzzzzz stop doing the same stuff over and over again!!!

Bad performance no matter what HW you have, Bethesda doesn't fix this POS, it just says you have to update, cynics. It lacks HDR, raytracing and DLSS support, but these Bethesda mofos believe Starfield is "next generation.". Nice story bros, your ancient engine don't have to do with anything. This needs heavy patching/modding as always with Bethesda.

Starfield is the embodiment of 'tried to do too much and ended up doing nothing right.'

It's like they handed Skyrim space gear and said, 'Fly, my Dragonborn!' but forgot to give it wings or a functional jetpack.

    Open World:
Starfield is a stale, soulless “world,” that feels disconnected.

Everything is locked behind a loading screen and the game doesn't have an "open world" to navigate and experience. You jump from objective to objective via the UI like some sort of CoD Campaign. You are not in control of flying your ship between systems, landing your ship, departing from settlements, attempting risky docking to board other ships. Everything is a fast travel cut-scene initiated via a key-bind or through the confusing UI.

You read that right. There is no traveling, landing, or exploring to do on your own. When you are “in orbit” around a “planet” you can’t go anywhere; no matter how long you fly for you are no closer to the planet you see ahead of you than before. That’s because being “in orbit” around a “planet” only serves as a “placeholder;” an enclosed waiting zone to open the UI and choose where to fast travel next. There is no open space to navigate. Everything is done via cutscenes which only make you hungry for more. Why can’t I fly my ship wherever I want to in a System? Why can’t I manually find a spot on a planet and land there myself? One click on the map and you suddenly teleport to Neon city. Where is the awe of discovering it by yourself through exploration?

This makes Starfield feel more like a collection of maps/dungeons with no clear link between each other, rather than a connected and breathing world. It's like playing Skyrim, but you are only allowed to teleport between dungeons through the map interface - without the open world in-between.

    Cities:
Like space, cities feel disconnected and non-immersive. New Atlantis, for instance, is not even a unified city. Instead, cities are split into various parts requiring you to fast travel between each district. Other than soulless “citizen” NPCs walking aimlessly around with no schedule, nothing of interest is going on to justify having so many loading screens.

In addition, almost every single building or shop has a loading screen to access, which is very weird since 90% of buildings with interiors are basically just an empty lobby with one shopkeeper. This makes simple fetching quests a nightmare. You have to go through 5 different loading screens just to deliver a package from one part of the city to another.

    Spaceship:
It feels like they wasted all these resources for the Spaceship builder, yet neglected adding gameplay that will make your spaceship meaningful. Space traveling, planet exploration, landing/docking mechanics, and fuel planning - just to name a few. As it stands right now, your spaceship is just a storage locker between your UI fast travels. It is so tedious to fast travel that you may end up not seeing your spaceship for hours during a playthrough, since you instantly teleport to the selected locations and spawn outside your ship. To see your ship and add “immersion,” you would need to add 3 more loading screens to your fast travels. Pointless, since you have no control over anything. You only get to watch the game do everything for you via cutscenes.

    Combat:
It’s… working. Like in any basic first-person shooter game. There are no “classes” or anything else that will make you think “Damn, on my next playthrough I am gonna play as X and Y.” You can tell by the Skill Points you get to allocate that all Traits offer small bonuses to combat (e.g., deal 10% more damage with Pistols) that add no distinctive gameplay or new combat mechanics. They are just… flat bonuses to damage, health, persuasion, ship damage. Class-wise, the only option you have would be to either play a ranged build or a (hardly viable) melee build. That’s it.

    Outpost Building:
Barebones and clunky. We will most probably see paid DLCs adding props and things to expand building, like they did with Fallout 4 (they released 3 paid workshop DLCs).

    Land Vehicles:
Yep, they did it too. The only way of traversing is by foot – no land vehicles/rovers exist in the future. Fast Traveled to a planet in a super-ship? Now you need to jog like clown for 1200m in a barren and empty wasteland just to reach an enemy encampment. Be careful not to go too far or you’ll hit an invisible wall.

    Story:
As soon as you launch the game, you are given a ship, a place to stay, and suddenly a full organization blindly trusts you – which is very off-putting. This feels like a big “roleplaying” part of the game is cutout.

    Graphics:
Starfield feels like a texture-enhancement Fallout 4 mod. There is little improvement between Starfield and Fallout 4.

Bethesda has taken everything they have learned from their previous RPG's and refined it in Starfield. The level of Role-Play available is great. The sheer amount of quests and things to find is great. Planet exploration could have been handled better. Maybe cut the number of planets to add more unique things to those remaining planets? I know they are going for a more "realistic" depiction of space. Which in fact has mostly barren rock/ice planets. But I recognize it can be tedious. Starfield has the best gunplay of any Bethesda game. All these assumptions that some people had the game would be. Has no one learned from Cyberpunk? Excepting too much from a game will always end in disappointment. Can we pull back, take a breath, and be fair to the game? Expand

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
