You cannot clear one Location until you have Ability X to unlock certain Areas/Crates. Always hated these things in Tomb Raider. Less exploring and more fighting would be way better. You have to backtrack alot and unlock shortcuts in order to complete one area. All collectibles are just cosmetic and you can't even have more than 2 lightsaber colors until you have progress very far into the game. Kind of a bummer to be honest. Glad i didn't pay a single cent for this Game - i'd hella regret that.

Not sure if i continue the Game or just uninstall and forget about it.

good skill system. good fighting system.

I can't help but compare this game to Sekiro. It surprisingly similar (which I totally didn't expected from Star Wars game), but not as good. But it's close! And for me Sekiro - is one of the best games of all time.

If that doesn't sound fun to you I don't know what would. It also stays true to the core Star Wars universe timeline in which it takes place. Don't expect to be an all powerful force user god. Patience, parrying, and force usage has to be used strategically or else you'll be killed by even the most basic mobs which is a fun and interesting take when foiled to Force Unleashed.

Though this is an EA game there are 0 microtransactions. Let me repeat, 0 microtransactions. Additionally it's amazing that it's developer Respawn, a studio recently purchased by EA, managed to avoid using the horrid Frostbite engine as well as managed to avoid becoming a victim of EA's desire to make every game a MVP loot-box-a-thon. How refreshing, bravo Respawn keep it up!

You should know that the PC version has Denuvo DRM it's a resource hog for the PC systam and makes the game stutter sometimes and causing issues in some systems. Another problem is there is way too much backtracking you just visit the same locations again and again and this gets boring fast as you have to play the same areas and the same enemies that you have killed are always respawn in the same area. ! The.camera system of this game is annoying especialy when there are multiple enemies that you have to face it's really problematic during battles and the keyboard controls are really BAD (A gamepad is surely recommended) as for the story too many plot holes feels like a childish Disney show.. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is merely OK. While it is by far the best StarWars game in many years, that in itself doesn't make this game an instant 9/10, it only highlights how terrible those games are.
The combat is good but nothing new, the progression systems are passable but quite limited and the story is OK.
What is unacceptable are the collectibles/cosmetics which are boring and have no incentive to actually get them, and the number of boss fights which is utterly, disappointingly low. For a game centered around lightsaber combat and hopefully lightsaber duels, we got next to none.

Enormous potential but dashed in an attempt to follow trends and perhaps rush the release in time for the Mandalorian. You can't rate a game on what it could be, only what you have in front of you. Unresponsive combat, a lack of polish on certain environments, poor level design, and a boring protagonist only add to its irks. Positives are the poncho collection, light-saber and storm-troopers. The cut scenes are mildly entertaining with good framing/angles normally reserved for the theatre and some of the set-pieces make for a good view. The orchestral music occasionally reminds you that this is indeed a Star Wars game. Expand

I've only played this game for roughly 5 hours so I can't say anything about the storyline. However, the combat is basically identical to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In these 5 hours, there was only a single boss and on top of that there is no fast-travel, so after you finish your mission objective you have to go back all the way back on foot... Fantastic

    Cons:
-Runs like absolute crap no matter settings or hardware
-Feels awful to control due to awkward combat animations, terrible hit detection & unclear i-frames
-Moving around feels clunky and slow because of silly decisions like cancelling sprint on jump
-Most environments look like generic, first-timer environments from the early 2010s with little artistic license
-Climbing is terrible and an absolute waste of time, even the animations are appalling
-Sliding sections are FREQUENT and BORING not to mention unimmersive
-Combat itself is overly simplified and boring especially near the start of the game; finisher moves are recycled A LOT
    -EXPENSIVE
-Mandatory anti-aliasing so useless for 4k+ setups without ini tweaks
-Teeny tiny sickness inducing FoV that can't be changed without a .DLL injector (seriously? in 2019?). Breaks cutscenes if you fix
-Humanoid characters cannot be dismembered/cut by LIGHTSABERS(!!!)
-Ship sections are a massive waste of time and could have been cutscenes
-Devs thought putting massively over-leveled, bulls**t enemies in starting areas was cool because Dark Souls did it, but the combat is so clunky and stiff that there's no satisfaction in it so this is just bad level design AND combat design compounding each other
-Extremely linear but expects you to look at the map for long periods of time. There is no exploration, this is a linear action game that pretends to be open-world

Honestly I'd pay maybe $5 for this - if it ran well, which it doesn't. Extremely disappointed, and amazed at all the people who were bought off to shill for this game.

Ye that's not the case here. Do yourself a favor and treat it as a story first, gameplay second kind of deal. Had it on highest difficulty and lowered it and hour in. The game mechanics and enemies are just not well enough designed to make it fun like that.

While some characters seem a tad more Disney than Star Wars, the plot itself is engaging from start to finish. It fits in so perfectly on the time period it presents, and gives an interesting point of view on the Jedi Purge. The combat is satisfying to master, and you feel Cal grow exponentially, as you become better as a player. I played on the second highest difficulty, and only had a handful of fights that I found myself repeating more than 3 or 4 times. The customization options are plentiful, and found throughout the world. There are two main things that are keeping me from giving this game a 10:
    - Performance issues on PC. I have a decent PC, and get similar FPS on the highest setting, as I do on medium. There are some lag spikes and popping. It never got to a ridiculous point, but it was frustrating.
    - Customization is something that I love about this game, but I wish there were more unique player customization options. You have different poncho colors, but I was really hoping to unlock a few more over the top outfits, like the Force Unleashed, or disguises, since they're so common in Star Wars. I was a little disappointed not to find anything like that.
    - No New Game+ or Extra Planets/Hidden Bosses. Kind of a nitpick. I want to 100% all of the planets, but apart from that, I don't have any other challenging boss fights. Some DLC stories would make me a happy camper, especially if by some miracle we can play as another character using this engine.

    Play this game!

The game is made to be a little bit difficult but because the combat is so basic, you never feel like you are in a epic light sabre battle and just a block, roll and counter simulator.

I don't understand how, out of a universe of massive possibilities, Respawn managed to generate this generic trash.

If only Disney would allow CD Project Red a crack at an open world Star Wars, then we may see something worthy of the name.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I just do not like this game. I'm about 12 hours in, so perhaps the final stretch is where everything suddenly comes together, but the bright spots are few and far between. I think the controls feel really sloppy, Cal can't be trusted around ledges, and loves to fall off them during some attack animations. Wall running does not feel nearly as solid as it does in similar games. Combat is more irritating than fun; locking onto enemies is key, however it's easy to accidentally press R3 and toggle the lock, creating chaos in the middle of a fight. Special attack animations feel overused so they quickly lose their ooh! factor. The load times for respawns are abysmal by modern standards, and you'll sit staring at the little load icon, daring yourself to quit playing.
Another minor gripe is that while BD-1 can scan defeated enemies for more info on them, this window of opportunity to get the prompt is preciously short, and simply running a few steps away can end it. Also, some enemies have area-of-effect damage upon death so getting a scan means taking damage. I'd rather BD-1 just autoscanned defeated enemies instead of adding this odd chore.
While exploring is fun, especially finding secret bosses, the chests lose their luster once you realize there's only a cosmetic upgrade in there. I've found myself not bothering with chests I can see if it looks like it will take more than a minute to get there. Similarly, the bits of lore you find (Force echoes) feel skimpy and there isn't even art to accompany them. If I'm going to go through the work of finding them, it would be cool to get meatier lore.
Also, the fact you have to backtrack to your ship to leave hampers exploration; often when I find a new area I'm reluctant to explore just due to the slog of getting back to my ship when it's time to leave. I'd rather there were certain call points you could reach and the ship would come pick you up. With that same system you could choose where to be dropped off when backtracking to previously explored planets (which you will do often).
As for the story, it's fine, nothing amazing. We know about Order 66, and we know what happens after this story. The only bit I was interested to see was the stuff about the Nightsisters on Dothomir.
Cal is a pretty dull hero, genuinely the most interesting thing about him is that he has red hair. To me the best character is BD-1, your little droid. The ship's captain, an alien (forgive me I don't know what species) makes the same mistake the prequels did by making him *too* human, he seems like a little New York guy, not a member of an alien race who lived a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Overall I can't recommend much about this game from either the Star Wars angle or just as an adventure game. I actually don't know if I'll bother to finish it, which is why I wrote this review now.

You literally got just different colors of the same thing which is also awful. It takes away all the exciting of discovering all the loot boxes, because its just the same thing but different color. You can really tell that the many artists, developers and writers put their heart and soul into making this game. These people actually understand what was so special about the original movies and in general, about Star Wars. This game is a work of passion.

The atmosphere is strong, the soundtrack is mesmerizing and evokes the same feelings as those old movies did with their own music. The characters are well written and likeable, the world is rich and full of mysteries and interesting places waiting to be explored.

In terms of gameplay, the best way to describe Fallen Order would be that it's a lovechild between Uncharted and Sekiro, coupled with a Metroidvania-style level-design and progression. The exploration is rewarding, the combat is tactical, deep, fast-paced, and satisfying, and there's always a strong sense of progression.

Buy this game, or rent it using Origin Access Premiere (like I did). It deserves it, we should support great games like this.

It's still the best single-player Star Wars game we've seen since KOTOR II (if you think Force Unleashed is better than this you're insane).

If I had one minor nitpick its the lack of quick transport, which makes backtracking arduous considering its mandatory if you want to 100% the game. I understand not having "mysterious teleportation" fast travel like we've seen in most recent adventure games and RPGs but there are all sorts of vehicles in the Star Wars universe that could have been used for this purpose.

There are aspects to the game such as customizing your lightsaber. Doing so changes nothing but the look and oddly enough I was constantly looking at the various components I've collected though I always ended up sticking to basically the same style. But that's what made it mine, my lightsaber felt like it was actually mine.

This game has charm, it has exploration, it has story and the combat is pretty well done.
The only reason I'd give the game a 9 instead of a 10 is I personally have encountered several graphical bugs a few odd but funny bugs and one game crash in about 19 hrs of game play.

If you love star wars but hate what Disney has done or even if you like what they've done you'll love this game. This is my star wars.

Absolute Masterpiece of a game, haven't seen such a good game in years. The story is well written, characters have depth, gameplay is very good and graphics are amazing. I even called in sick from work to play the game.

If you have a brain, this game is ridiculously boring, even on the hardest, which is completely buggy and meaningless. You pass the lightsaber all over the enemy's body and he keeps acting like it's no big deal.

You should probably read this before you buy. First thing I need to say is this game is full of bugs and basic mechanics are broken. I gritted my teeth and played through this entire game for the story and sadly, that wasn't even worth my time. People rating this well are fanboying it up.

Let me start of with some positives. The story is good-ish but in the end I felt like the story

Let me start of with some positives.

The story is good-ish but in the end I felt like the story was inconsequential. I can't say anything more without it being a spoiler. The story was just not that good. It seems good until you finish it, then you're like... oh. Well. Why did I play this then? I could sum the entire story into one paragraph and it would make you sad.

The graphics for scenery are amazing. Characters and objects look like a 360 game though. The concept is good but fails to deliver on everything. Too many ideas, none of them landed. Customizing your lightsaber is neat but too limited. Customizing your character was a lack of trying.

    Negatives

This game is 90% silence. Music rarely cuts in and you just feel bored.

There are huge performance issues on every console. PC, regardless of your rig, has stuttering, lag, and frame drop issues. It's actually the most prominent topic of complaint. No matter what your settings, you'll have these issues.

The bugs... oh the bugs. There are so many and they are so bad I started making a list. I count 36 major bugs so far. Some actually break the game so you can never progress. You have to start the game over from scratch. Some stop progression until you reset the game. There are physics problems, clipping, ragdoll, teleporting, and oh wow is combat busted. Things don't spawn when they should, enemies randomly spawn right on top of you, some enemies spawn or get knocked back into the sky and stay there shooting at you, I mean I can go on for a while. I hope you get the point.

You can't flow between moves like attack, force, and block or dodge. You can't dodge or block while being attacked. Blocking doesn't actually work a lot of the time, you still take full damage on basic attacks. You can't chain moves. You can't attack or block an attack and use a force power. You can't dodge or block once you've been hit. Animations must fully complete before another action can start meaning you are constantly vulnerable in combat unless you're blocking, which I already said doesn't work a whole lot.

Oh and the worst thing is when force powers just don't work. Like, they just don't work. It depletes your force, you do an animation, but nothing happens. Enemies can cancel your force moves too, all they have to do is hit you with some attack before you complete the animation and boom canceled. This goes for healing too. Having your heal canceled also consumes your healing packs but you don't heal. Fun huh?

This game is almost unplayable. It's taken me hours just to make minor progress because all of the mechanics of the game are broken. I discovered half of the bugs I've reported in the first 3 hours of playing this game. I've played 16 hours and it feels like I've made no progress. Even on the easiest level you die over and over. It's a constant drain. You can get piled on by enemies and they can chain attacks so you can die before you even have a chance to react. It's worse than quick-time events, but those exist too and they're done terribly. They never work.

I mentioned customization before. It's a neat idea but it's very limited in what parts you can get, what colors you can make your saber glow, and the costumes are terrible. You have a poncho. You can pick colors for that poncho. Have fun customizing your poncho! How about ship colors? You see the ship maybe 1% of the game but hey you can customize it. Think maybe BD-1 colors are great because there are so many? Well no, many of them overlap or just don't look good. Customization was a big fail here.

Look, if the game launched working I'd give it an 8. It's very broken and possibly one of the most broken games EA has put out in a while and that's unacceptable. The story is the only thing that saves this from a 1. Seriously, it's that broken. I have no idea what people rating this a 10 are doing because they are definitely lying if they say the combat isn't garbage at the least.

Now I know you want to be that pissy troll on the webs saying "git gud" but there is no "gud" when the game gives you instructions for how things work and they just don't work. When I'm targeting and facing an enemy but my force moves happen somewhere completely random. When enemies auto-target instantly without animation and melee you no matter where you are what's the point of dodging? Even that is broken. I honestly feel like I'm playing a low budget PS1 game with the quality and bug list here. I've nearly completed the game and the more I play the more bugs I find. Even basic animations don't load in some areas.

I had more fun playing Jedi Academy. At least that one had more than basic force moves.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this game was. Fallen Order provides a solid challenge, high quality environments, and a great main storyline arc (mostly conventional, but with a few nice twists and flavors) that has an authentic Star Wars feel to it all.

The biggest strength of the game for me was the creative use of the metroidvania type design throughout. This is definitely novel for a Star Wars title and really breathes life into the intriguing lore building that this game accomplishes (which unlike the main story arc is totally NOT conventional and opens up interesting potential regarding the history of the Force, how other civilizations have used it and tie-ins to the movies/TV series). The exploration elements, along with inventive puzzles and ability-gated (often well-hidden) areas also make the mysteries that unfold as you progress more engaging and add many more hours to the game if you choose to spend the substantial time to seek out the secrets.

As far as gameplay specifics: if you're looking for The Force Unleashed levels of destructive, raw power or to steamroll through armadas of enemies like in Battlefront II, this game won't give it to you. It's more finessed and far more difficult, and the lightsaber feels like more of a butter knife than a plasma chainsaw of doom. Force powers on the other hand DO get pretty strong and are super gratifying, but you have to manage their limited use (not a bad thing at all, as it makes you have to plan out attacks before rushing into a larger group of enemies). There's a great mix of enemy types and tells to learn for each, along with sheer number and enemy sizes making a big difference in how each fight unfolds. There are a good number of times when enemies are also fighting amongst themselves when you enter an area, making restraint on jumping into the fray a viable strategy (at the cost of some xp). Overall, I enjoyed the mix of generally tough battles and even the frustrating ones; it made the victories mean more.

Though not perfect, this game represents the main things I've been hoping for in a Star Wars game for the last decade: a complete, fun, solid Star Wars story with universe building elements and a real challenge that I paid one price for, earning everything available by working for it in game rather than opening a plethora of loot crates with my fingers crossed every time.

Meaning building a combat system that is designed around timed parries and 1v1 combat, and ruin it utterly by having a very narrow FOV and placing tons of enemies in cramped spaces. But without the invisframes, so if you succesfully enter a parry, some other enemy can just knock you out of it. Meaning there is no flow to combat. It's an extremely cheap way to increase the difficulty, because the combat system is working against you, and this also means that there is no graceful way to beat it. You just have to cheaply run around and cheapshot enemies.

That arena fight.. what where they thinking? There is literally no opening. Even Ornstein and Smough, or Throne Defender & Throne Watcher weren't this cheap.

Very bad game design, because what kept you playing in Dark Souls is gradual progression against a difficult moveset. However when two large enemies curbstomp you with no real pattern, that incentive is lost. And noone can tell me they felt a sense of satisfaction when they eventually beat it. Rather a distasteful "meh".

The game has very - VERY - interesting characters. Sadly, the plot is simple, so I can't much compare it to KOTOR story-wise. I wish they expanded the game more, I feel like there's so much more to be told. Imagine a Cantina scene, a Tatooine-like planet or Tatooine itself. Imagine tempting Cal to the dark side. There's so much grounds to cover with this great cast. It's a shame that this game and it's sequels (if ever) will never be able to tell as wide a variety of stories as KOTOR due to the emphasis on high-quality cinematic action.

But Jedi Fallen Order ticks all the right boxes to satisfy a fan of KOTOR, Jedi Outcast/Academy, The Prequels and the Originals. Awesome characters like KOTOR. Awesome combat like Jedi Outcast. Awesome Star Wars soundtrack and feel like the movies.

Customizing my lightsaber is fun, and I've done the Savi's Workshop in Anaheim's Disneyland Galaxy's Edge, so it's feels like a continuation for me.

When I thought the game was done introducing game changing mechanics, it threw more at me. I tried to keep myself as spoiler free as possible, but there are way too many spoilers on Youtube thumbnails at the moment. That being said, the game still surprised me with new force powers, new bosses and cinematics that weren't in any promotional material.

My game of the year for 2019 hands down.

24 Hours in, finished the story, completion around 95%. Incredible, the ending was satisfying and not predictable for me. I was expecting to be slightly disappointed, but it ended a blast! Kudos to Respawn Entertainment. Probably the best 24 hours game I've ever played. Definitely the most cinematic and action packed 24 hours.

A good story in which you feel invested, a challenging gameplay, and strong influences here and there while keeping the "star wars feel" intact. However it's not perfect, it has a lot of backtracking making platforming a bit boring over the long run, but it's only a problem if you wish to 100% the game.

While it does nothing that other less Star Warsy games haven’t done already, & done better, it packages enough competent pieces together to make for an all-around decent Star Wars game. It certainly has its issues, but those didn’t diminish the quality of the overall experience in my 30 hours played.

There’ve been comparisons to Souls games, and it’s no wonder why with the use of what are essentially bonfires and Estus, and losing progression when you die. That said, even these systems have been made more player-friendly – you regain XP by damaging the enemy that killed you, and on death you only lose the XP progress towards your next skill point, but you keep skill points you’ve already earned.

The game’s 4 difficulty modes are welcome, especially since they don’t inflate enemies' health bars. Padawan difficulty might allow you to stand still for 30 seconds getting smacked and not die, while at the opposite end of the spectrum there are a handful of things that will one shot you if you haven’t collected most, or all, of the health upgrades in the game. In 30 hours playing on Grand Master difficulty, I died at least a hundred times. Most of these deaths are reasonable, though they occasionally feel like the game being cheap.

The combat emphasizes well timed counters and evades, and perfectly timed parries often throw you into an execute animation. While these are fun, and the sound effects that accompany them go a long way towards selling the lightsaber combat, on occasion they can make you vulnerable when you’d rather not be.

Movement and control is acceptable, with the main exception being anytime Cal is on a sliding slope. This was shown in demos for the game and looked like a lot of fun, but it’s nearly impossible to control the player character while he’s sliding and kills the enjoyment of what could have been pretty fun, albeit short, gameplay sequences.

Enemy variety is good – I counted 31 distinct non-boss enemy types scattered across the game’s four main planets, split around in half between wildlife and Imperial troops or droids. In addition I counted 11 distinct bosses, four of which are optional elite versions of a planet’s local megafauna and are tied to an achievement. Three more distinct bosses are bounty hunters, reused many times starting about halfway through the game. These bounty hunters are placed seemingly randomly to surprise you during your backtracking across all four main planets. The other four bosses, those that are truly unique, are where the majority of my deaths occurred and grinding these encounters out to learn them was my favorite part of the entire gameplay experience. The only negative here is that I don’t think there are enough of these unique and interesting boss encounters.

While enemy variety is good, enemy AI is a major weak point. On Grand Master the enemies are plenty aggressive, but most of them are also on a leash. It takes very little effort to find their maximum leash distance, past which they won’t pursue or attack you – enemies literally go from running after you with weapons ready to turning around and walking away. This allows you to, if you want, leash certain enemies with a lot of HP, including certain bosses (the bounty hunters, specifically) then jump in, do a small amount of damage, then jump out and whittle them down this way. These enemies, like most others, are also very bad at navigating stairs and elevation changes, and even the least clever players can easily exploit this. I also witnessed several enemies get hung up on walls or other items, or sometimes be unable to find and attack me despite me standing directly in their line of sight.

Sound, graphics, and world design are all good and all feel authentically Star Wars. Certain details make the devs love for the source material and games that have come before quite obvious.

Exploration is enjoyable, with the primary reward for finding secrets being optional progression, health, and Force upgrades. There are also many chests in the game that contain cosmetic appearances for the player character, his droid, or his ship. Since the chests contain only cosmetic items and no progression aids, it’s hard to justify going to find all of them unless you want to 100% the game anyways.

Puzzle platforming is solid, with the several tombs in game feeling quite Zelda inspired and a fair chunk of the platforming having nonlinear distractions to mix things up, especially if you’re looking hard enough.

Despite any gripes, I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing and did wind up 100% completing on Grand Master. All in all, this is a game that does few things incredibly but almost everything acceptably. If you’ve got an itch for a Star Wars video game that doesn’t plunder your wallet, look no further.

I play on pc with an xbone controller. I would suggest changing dodge/drop down to LB, and block to LT or vice versa. Pull and climb to RB, freeze to B. This frees up your hands and allows for better combat imo.

Next order of business is the performance. I have played the entirety of the game twice through. Once on Master, then on Grandmaster. I have experience no problems whatsoever with all my settings set to epic. If you are on console, apparently its bad, I dunno. But PC this is a great game.

When a game is compared to many great titles such as Tomb Raider, God of War, Uncharted, and Zelda the bar for one's expectation is set high. While its true Respawn incorporated many elements from these games into their version of star wars, none of it felt really out of place.

I truly despise the decisions of those at the top of EA. Respawn however, has never really been a let down. Judging the game (art) as separate from the publisher or even the developer (artist) is becoming increasingly important in today's media journalism which favors subversive, angry and nihilistic bias. The game itself is great and fun and I cannot see any minor setbacks in terms of quality due to some hiccups in performance. If that's a deal-breaker for you, maybe wait awhile for patches to fix these things and smooth them out.

The story is great, albeit star wars predictable, but the stakes feel legitimate. A padawan and crew all learning how to heal and grow while facing down the threat of an empire is compelling. Visiting old and new locations through a different perspective was always fresh and exciting.

If you're ever on the fence and can't decide whether or not the game is worth owning, and reviews feel biased (mine included) you can always try the game yourself, for a full month, for about 15$ through origin premier. That's basically a matinee and combo popcorn/drink.

In conclusion, this is a star wars game in the end. If you like the franchise, this is a good product for you that's entertaining and isn't sullied by monetization. You get what you pay for. If you a using this game as a way to get into the franchise, well, where have you been? And, this is not a good launching point. The game will challenge you if you let it. If you are experiencing performance issues, maybe try lowering the settings.

I love this game so its a 10, but its a product of man, there's always room to improve, which it will over time. That's what is so great about having the internet, games come out sooner but not as polished and more people give feedback to improve the game with the general public in mind. Anyways, if you've read this far, you must not be a millennial, either that or you have a questionable obsession with reading!

This game is absolutely flawless! Everything from the fighting, the leveling system, the puzzle solving, and the story telling is exceptional. I have been having so much fun for the first time with a Star Wars game and I'm so happy I gave Respawn and EA the benefit of the doubt and supported this game. Hopefully they see the response they receive from users who support no In-game purchases,DLC, or season passes. Games like this should be given higher reviews solely because of this fact!

If you're on the edge and questioning whether or not you should get it this might help. It's a single player game focused heavily on story telling, the fighting style is not stamina based, but deflecting blasts/attacks drains stamina. The game in a way is souls like in the sense that you get to Meditate (bonfire) and when you rest all enemies respawn while you get your health and stim packs (estus flasks) back. Aside from that watching game-play videos will help you decide whether or not this game is for you. As for me I'm 100% pleased with this purchase and wish to support the narrative of no in game purchases or season passes!

A significant early portion will be spent solving puzzles in tombs, exploring, and looking for secrets and chests in complex mapping systems that can be difficult to navigate, While the later game is much more linear, with smaller maps and a much more more story driven experience. The combat starts with an ideological perry/dodge system, which while some may call challenging and unforgiving, I sway more towards sloppy and poorly designed, Which makes little difference anyways because it can be slowly forgotten about as you gain abilities to throw entire waves of enemies off cliffs. If you are a Star Wars fan, you will be more then pleased with the inclusion of references and memories to popular events and characters, as well as fantastic original characters whom are very welcome into the SW universe with top notch acting and fleshed out stories.

Overall a very solid effort, and while the combat system and early map progression can leave a lot to be desired, I think the redeeming factors are enough to keep this game very enjoyable.

I JUST FINISHED THE STORY, HERE'S A HONEST REVIEW.
First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to the developers to release a game singleplayer without microtransactions and other kinds of **** That is extremely rare these days and much appreciated.
Well, let's talk about the game. It's been almost 10 years since the last good 3rd person single-player Star Wars game (Force Unleashed 2).
We felt left behind since EA got Star Wars game rights, and since they never invested in a good single-player game so far.

GRAPHICS: Graphics are great, you believe in that universe when you're playing, even it's not an open world, it's noticeable that it was made with care. SCORE 9

PERFORMANCE: The performance for PC is not great, a LOT of framerate drops ( I have a 2080TI), the game goes from 120fps to 30fps without any reason. I believe it needs work. I updated my graphics card driver and problems persisted. Sound is glitchy and buggy sometimes, I had to restart the game several tomes: SCORE 5

PLOT/STORY/DIALOGUES: Even though I loved the characters, the plot isn't that great, I understand it's a filler between movies, but I would expect something more epical like The Force Unleashed was. the plot is very cliche, and predictable and obvious. SCORE: 7

CHARACTERS AND DESIGN: I really loved the characters of this game, especially BD. I just didn't like the 9th sister design. it's meh. The spaceship is awesome. The art team did a good job. I would expect to know more about these characters, but everything is so superficial. SCORE: 9

COMBAT: Cleary inspired on GoW and Dark Souls the combat is great and require you to think, and train to develop a strategy, it's not just advance and press X. You need need to know what you're doing. I think the skill tree is too small, and the character targeting system sometimes feels broken, I also feel the character slower, the jumps are clumsy, and you constantly miss the wall jumps because your character just jumps to the wrong side, and in the end, the WORST thing, THERES NO BLASTERS, at some in the game you lost your lightsaber and everything you can do is run like an idiot: SCORE 7

LEVEL-DESIGN: That's somehow bittersweet. I loved how they look b, but some levels are too repetitive. The planet Zeffos is very boring, too much repetition. The map is very confusing and hard to follow sometimes. In the end, you will have fun but it's far to be the best Star Wars level Design of all time: SCORE 7

CUSTOMIZATION: Well it's not an open-world game but I would expect more customizations. I would expect more RPG elements, like an upgrade lightsaber in a way that influences your battle style, or a Jedi robe or vest that can increase the force, or resistance, etc. All Customizations are ONLY visual, and worse, it only changes the colors, the Pilot Outfit is exactly the same as the Scavenger one with just different colors, that's DISAPPOINTING. Even though the Lightsaber customization is cool, it's just skins. I belie the team left to pass a huge opportunity to do like God of War did with the Gear. Gear in this game is worthless. SCORE 6

GAMEPLAY: That's my biggest complaint, the Gameplay IS TOO SHORT. I have finished the game in probably 15 hours. After beating the story there's nothing else fun to do. I don't feel that this short campaign worth 60 dollars, honestly. SCORE 5

Well, Overall it's a Good game, but that's it, just good, not great, actually far from Great. I would like to congratulate the devs to not put microtransactions and paid content, I really would like to love this game, I swear I wish but I didn't love it. I believe they miss an opportunity to do an awesome game and make it more complex and fun like GoW, the game is too short, and the story is too linear. In the next one, I would expect more RPG elements and at least 40-60 hours of gameplay ( I believe that's due to the lack of experience with RPG-like games. Respawn only make shooter games)
This game is not good as The Force Unleashed is, even though the combat system is better. Respawn developers, if you're reading this, please, try to make something inspired in KOTOR, next time. That's what we would love to see.
OVERALL SCORE: 7 ( truly it would be a 6 or even 5, but the lack of microtransactions make me like this game a little bit more).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. OK, just wanted to wrap up my time with this game with a review to share what I think, and possibly warn someone who might feel just like I do. I just quit the game and I think I am about 60% through, but I feel NO interest at all in playing it anymore. I am bored of it, and I am disappointed, as this could have been SO much better.

Lets start with the positive stuff:

+ Looks great, it really does.
Tons of SW-vibe. This really looks like the universe we like and love, they nailed that.
Combat is fun, no matter whether you want a DS/Sekiro-type difficulty or want it easier to just enjoy the story with not too much difficulty with the fights. It can be challenging, it rewards tactic and reacting right while punishing button mashing.
    Some impressive vistas and locations.
Some scenes are SO cool, like when you capture and use that AT-AT, but other than that...meh

    Now, to the bad stuff:

Too much backtracking. This is LAZY. You first move to one planet. Some combat, then some long-winded riddles. If you dislike riddles and wish they were optional – too bad. You do them. You notice some doors/walls you cant open/break, and you know what it will be like. „Oh great, I cant go there. I will later aquire a new ability to open these. So I will come here again just to unlock more stuff“.
Instead of giving us more variety in planets, they give us the cliche „Half of the map locked till later“.
Too many riddles. If you dont like them, too bad. Theyre not optional. If you dont play Tomb Raider-games for that reason, you might wanna skip this. Wish these were optional, like to unlock some collectables like in the old AC-games.
„Yay, a secret“... oh a tiny bit of side story that isnt very interesting. Yawn. „OH A CHEST“. Wow, cool... another cosmetic switch for my lightsaber. Yawn. It feels like you get a new cosmetic detail around every corner, and I stopped caring. You hardly even see those details on your saber anyway.
Uninspiring skill tree. I stopped distributing my points. „More HP“... „Better heals“...“More force power“. Wow, how... nice. There are some new strikes/attacks, but you know what? I never felt that „OMG, this will be so cool, I cant WAIT to unlock this!“ feeling I had with other games.
Story is cliché, and even though I LOVE lore and good stories, I actually stopped caring about it half way through.
On rails/walking sim. Its ok for the intro/tutorial to be that way. But this is like the total opposite of any idea of „open world“. They didnt promise that, but it would be SO much fun if this was an open world game with those graphics and that combat. Give me something like Witcher 3 or the more recent AC-games with this „skin“.
The only choice you get? „Do I go for this side-track to open another chest with yet another little cosmetic detail for my saber, or not?“
Your „mentor“/companion is VERY „uncanny valley“. What's with those EYES?
I have NO desire to continue playing. I was in the middle of yet another one of those long riddles, and I was like „You know what? This isnt FUN at all!“. I have been about 60% through based on a summary I checked when I stopped... and I hear people finish this after about TWENTY HOURS OF GAMEPLAY? At this prize? With that much backtracking, that much „Go back to planet 2 to unlock the other half now“? Sorry, not enough effort.

    TLDR/Verdict:
It pains me to say this, but this is a disappointment to me. The game LOOKS great, they really NAILED that SW-vibe/atmosphere, and the combat is great. But the lack of new locations, the backtracking, the amount of parcour/mechanism-riddles, the „on rails“ feeling you get just made me stop and deinstall it as I simply was NOT having fun anymore.
And its sad as there is a lot of good stuff about this, and the atmosphere is great, but everything else is just... too restricted, too repetitive and too small. Sorry.

Note: This $60 title does not have any Steam achievements. But you do earn achievements through the 'Origin' client which is... Odd. Somehow they couldn't do both?

If you ever wondered, what if STAR WARS could take the mechanics of Dark Souls and turn it into a game, Jedi: Fallen Order is that game. I have a love/hate relationship with this game.

Tip: Keyboard and mouse players? You should really use a controller, this game caters to that more.

I personally don't mind the somewhat open worldness to this game, it reminds me a lot of Dark Souls and Tomb Raider. Just like Dark Souls in this game you have "meditation circles" which work exactly like "bon-fires." They reset enemies and your health pods (Stims). The character mechanics isn't Assassin's Creed like you always have to be pressing 'E' in order to grab onto ledges or else he'll lose grip, also the character can't jump for nothing. What a lackluster and disgrace Jedi.

The XP lost is where I hate this game. There are times where I lose all my XP due to a very powerful mini-boss, I try to get it back, I get it back, then die again and along the way and lose all my XP. I wish there was a way to turn this mechanic "off?" If you do lose all your XP and can't somehow get it back, you can't level up which means you can't get more skill points (you get these by leveling up) and this all comes down to being underpowered later on which you don't have set skills (which you could have had if you didn't lose all your XP). I personally think this XP lost ruins the game, I would rather take a Tomb Raider like experience where if you die you don't lose all your XP or have it where you tie the XP lost mechanic to harder difficulties.

I first started playing this game on the second hardest difficulty, 'Jedi Master.' I later on dropped it down to 'Story Mode' difficulty (the you're trash at the game difficulty) because I was getting my butt handed to me on KB&M later on in the game when I found mini-bosses. Even though I'm trying to complete this game with a KB&M, when I'm trying to fight mini-bosses, I will mostly lose so I have to repeat these battles multiple times in order to win. Even then there is bug where it resets your difficulty if you did by chance change difficulties during the game (so keep can eye on that if you keep losing battles). I feel like difficulties don't even lower the mob animations, no matter what they just hit harder and harder without missing, it's pretty annoying. Another annoying thing is randomly out of nowhere where animals aren't supposed to be, Tomb Guardians, Jotaz‎ and another creatures appear. It seems like Respawn ran out of enemies or content to give you in specific areas, so they're like "oh, here's things to fight."

Performance wise, I haven't had any crashes yet, but FPS does dip to low 51 with a 3900X and a 1070 FTW.

In short, Fallen Order is horribly imbalanced, every word that describes unbalanced this is the game. It's a lot of dodging and parrying, backtracking and repetitiveness. If you like that type of thing, get it. If not, good luck playing it.

"The goats (Phillaks) are the real threat of the galaxy." - Summit1G

Personally I only recommend this game due to the fact that the graphics, lore, the campaign and gameplay are pretty amazing, something that you can't get out of the Battlefront series. For an single-player only game though with no online at all, it's a tough sale. Is it worth $60? No, but I do think if the game was priced at $30 that would seem more reasonable and worth a buy at $30.

No Bugs just some Visual Problems in 2 or 3 Scenes where i pick something up and while i pick it up im half in the ground with my lower Buddy.
Otherwise PERFECT GAME!!!!!! I already played my 23 Hours trough it from the begining on only made breaks for sleep. This Game is amazing. No Lootbox **** no Paytowin and all the nice designs for your Lightsaber also free. Gameplay just flashes me

Gameplay just flashes me the whole game long and when you think ok this is it... now wait there is more boy oh there is more. Even in the End you do not expect whats gonna happen. Everybody that rates down this game idk must be some kinda retard... And im by far no EA Fan Boy or Star Wars Fan Boy.. Last Star Wars Game i played was Force unleashed and this is alos great. But do not try to compare these Games as Jedi Fallen Order is way better and more Challenging in a good way.

Boring game. Game mechanics are taken from other games-nothing new its game developers have not done. The plot, History-all of this already was in movies, other games on universe Star Wars. Facial animation as always curve. I do not recommend this plagiarism, created on the basis of other famous games like Sekiro, Tomb Raider, Dark Souls and others.

Fallen Order is a must have for Star Wars fans and the best Star Wars game in years. Both literally and figuratively: the Force is strong with this one. [01/2020, p.42]

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gives its best on PC, delivering an awesome experience in 4K and 60 frames per second with advanced visual effects.
