Its ok, the system isnt to refined than sekiro but works. Gives yu a little bit more of the star wars essence with the battles with other users of lightsaber.

Divine beginning of the game, like a Hollywood movie. The first thirty minutes are HOLLYWOOD. Next is a quality game and one of the best games in the Star Wars universe.
A fascinating story, cool combat mechanics. a game in which you feel like a Jedi. 9/10

Great game, feels like a mix between Dark souls, Uncharted/Tomb raider and a Metroidvania in a star wars setting. The game does nothing new but takes strong points of other games and does it well.
The combat is like Dark souls but with difficulty options so its easier to pick up.

I keep getting a message that says "your trial is over, the game will close now". That is not fair. There should not be any "trial" when I bought the full game. Either let me play the game that I actually paid for, or give me my money back. This is a scam, and I'm pretty sure this is illegal.

Undoubtedly the best Star Wars game I've played in decades. Awesome locations, better art style than all the new movies and challenging "Souls lite!! gameplay with metroidvania influences in terms of the level structures. Good graphics and incredible sound. Really makes you feel like a Jedi.

Negatives: The map is really confusing at first but one gets used to it.

The story was solid. It had solid pacing, kept me interested and came to a satisfying conclusion. Cal may not be the best protagonist but Cere, Greez and the Second Sister more than make up for Cal's shortcomings. I enjoyed my experience and HOPE EA let's more studio make games like this. i heard alot about this game and seen a lot of this game but it wasn't until recently when i bought it on steam for 50% off still around 40 bucks , but i'm glad i did because this game was a treat . has its faults sure and at times derivative but it is a worthwhile game and a welcome addition to the star wars canon.

Story: Cal Kestus is a former jedi padawan living as a scrapper hiding from the empire 5 years after the fall of the republic and execution of order 66. cal is a good character and is a small part of the starwars universe. going to planets seen in the starwars the clone wars series. the games journey starts when cal is detected by the inquisitors where he makes his escape with a former jedi master.
From there you take the fight to the empire and attempt to restore the jedi order. cameron monaghan is killing it in his career , playing a young joker , and now a jedi and cal kestis is a better character for his involvement , he did a lot of the mocap for not just the story bits but the actually in game animations , making cal have a very distinct lightsaber style of more of a survivalist being a mix of geralt of rivia's ( the witcher 3) and darth maul's style, witch makes him feel unique even amongst the jedi , but is cal a jedi ? i think that is a question for the sequel to answer the story just kinda sucks though and feels out of place in the universe
    Story:6/10

Worldbuilding: this is the first story told around this time period 5 years after the fall of the republic , and before the start of the rebel alliance the only other star wars story i can think of around this time is the force unleashed but that takes place roughly 20 years after the fall of the republic at the start of the rebellion , some characters show up from across the universe , darth vader as powerful as ever , saw gerrera still fighting the empire. but id like to have seen more characters from the universe show up , maybe a cameo from rebels characters would have been nice but i digress , with the inevitable sequel to this game there is still room for world building maybe even bringing starkiller into cannon ? ( i can dream) over all i think that what this game dose bring to the universe is minimal and somewhat dumb , the zeffo is a half assed name to a n ancient civilization of force users and you can really tell that the actors really dont give a **** about some of this stuff they named poorly
    World building 7/10

Graphics, EA , star wars , and respawn are all names you would associate with a big budget and id say that respawn did well with it , the game looks stunning especially to when the camera pulls your attention to a big set piece is at its best , iv had minimal crashes and little frame drop if any , textures are well done and environments pop , locations feel a little video game but being in a video game that's not a huge deal ,
    Graphics: 9.5/10

Gameplay: now the game play is great , it works , its fluent , it's challenging but most importantly it is fair, every mechanic is polished to a T and i appreciate that alot . MY problem with this game is it is all stuff iv seen before , the combat is witcher 3 with lighsabers , the platforming feels like ratchet and clank , climbing is watered down uncharted. although its mechanics are polished to a T there isnt really anything pushing the industry forward , innovation is what can turn an 8/10 game into a 10/10 game it barely pushes the starwars universe forward not enough risks were taken
    Gameplay: 8/10

Sound design: its starwars , sound effects , music and acting is all to industry standard and then some its hard to say anything about this game is bad , because none of it , its just that its alot of recycling , star wars assets and video game mechanics not to say there was no creativity , i think the storm troopers were done really well their callouts are amazing and im glad they made the stormtroopers feel more like people people that just happen to be on the other side of a war.
    Sound design: 8/10

    6+7+9+8+8=38
    385= 7.6/10

i love starwars , i think this game is the best star wars game EA has put out but i think the point was missed , star wars has revolutionized filmmaking and as did battlefront for video games ( the pandemic made ones) this games shows that the starwars IP is behind the curve.

Expand

This game is definitely more than the sum of its parts and a great experience to be had for all audiences. The harsh reviews rating it 5 ot 6 (anything lower than that are essentially trolls) definitely seem to miss the fantastic aspects of this title, making it the best Star Wars single player experience to date.

At a fundamental level, its core mechanics aren't the best of the best.

The harsh reviews rating it 5 ot 6 (anything lower than that are essentially trolls) definitely seem to miss the fantastic aspects of this title, making it the best Star Wars single player experience to date.

At a fundamental level, its core mechanics aren't the best of the best. The combat isn't as fluid and precise as Devil May Cry 5 or the Souls genre which it takes some inspiration from.
The world and its set pieces aren't as bombastic and jaw dropping as the new Tomb Raider trilogy.
The customisation and skill tree isn't that as in-depth as Dragon Age and its puzzle sections aren't as interesting or mind boggling as The Talos Principle.

If I made the game sound bad then that is exactly what other reviews have probably pointed out, but the game is more than that. It really puts you into the fictional world of Star Wars. Whether you are a casual viewer or a die hard fan. The setting and locals are great, the characters are likeable and have good moments. The story is quite personal and tells a smaller, more grounded tale that fits into the giant world which is the Star Wars franchise, much like say, Rouge 1 did. The animations and impact of lightsaber swings and force powers empower you to feel like a Jedi and all the moves and abilities you come to expect are there as you progress on a realistic journey as one of the last of the order and theres a ton of small details like every lightsaber gem having its own sound effect, enemies reaction to their situations, random occurrences on planets upon subsequent visits, plenty of secrets and more.

Honestly it feels a bit like NieR:Automata for me, which is a game I adore. It doesn't do anything to outclass other games in most areas, but it does do them well enough overall to immerse you in the environment and stories its telling. There are things to explore, easter eggs to hunt and cinematic moments you won't find anywhere else. Its iconic, the sounds and music enriches the whole experiences and you'll recognize moments and motifs from the movies even if you aren't an avid fan. Graphics are top notch despite not being groundbreaking and the game was bug-free at least for my playthrough. It's accessible and maybe a bit safe, some might say thats a bad thing but in this case I really don't think so. There shouldn't be a need to gatekeep a good single player Star Wars story by turning the Dark Souls inspired combat to 11 (although you absolutely can in the newly added meditation trials and battle grid).

The game is worth full price I think, especially to support the devs over at Respawn which have been releasing hit after hit and showing EA that a polished, hearty single player game with free cosmetic updates to boot and post-launch support that addresses community feedback are still make plenty of sales in 2020. Though, if you can't or don't want to pay full price there have been some sales relatively early on in the games lifespan (I picked mine up from steam at a 35% discount I think?) so im sure everyone will get a chance to play it at some point.

My friends played this game and loved it, and once the price dipped below $30, I bit. So far I've played about 5 hours, and for now at least, I'm done. No more, and good riddance. Why so? Is the game not satisfying?

In many ways, it is! The graphics are good (not amazing, but not worse than say, the Witcher w/o mods or patches). The story is, from what I've got so far, pretty fun and solid. The characters are interesting both visually and as people. But the gameplay... oh, the gameplay!

For me, the combat is essentially fine, even on Jedi Master. It's hard, but that's OK. What's not OK? I've hit the block button and had nothing happen repeatedly, leading to a one-shot kill. I've walked up to a pipe to traverse a gorge and had Cal walk off the edge of the cliff, sometimes catching the pipe, sometimes plunging helplessly to my doom. And I've dodged attacks only to be hit by them. In general, the combat system feels clunky and imprecise to me. I've used special attacks only to whiff because I wasn't locked on to a target, etc. That's on me, but in general, it feels unresponsive and like I'm walking with my boots stuck in the mud.

And nevertheless, in general I enjoy the combat alright - leaving aside the non-registered button-presses and the like, it's do-able. Worse than some, better than others. But the first thing that really steamed me was the hard reset to the last save point on death. Sometimes, this point would be mere seconds away from where I died, so no problem. But often, it would be several areas away. On death, this would not only necessitate a tedious slog across ground I've already covered, but up to 30 seconds or more of loading. Usually around 20 seconds, and this from an m.2 SSD. Death, wait. Death, wait. Death, wait. This was less pleasant. A game can be difficult, but preferably not tedious, and for me, this was very tedious indeed. Now that I advanced a bit and gained some new abilities and more health, I'm doing much better, but I'm finding the most effective strategies are some combination of dash in and slash, block the almost universal immediate counterattack, then roll and kick/stun to attack until dead. Not much thinking, but it's working for me. I was hoping for a little more strategic depth and thought.

The next annoyance is the platforming, including in particular the hill-sliding sections. For starters, sprinting doesn't seem to add much distance to your jump, which is strange. Second, which involves the level design component of platforming, it's hard to tell which things can be interacted with and which not. The wall-running is well-marked, but many boxes and ledges that should be climbable or Cal should be able to grasp he simply can't because he's not supposed to. Trust me, after playing a game like Middle Earth: Shadow of War or Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, I think you'd agree the traversal mechanics, and even the feel of them is more pleasant and positive. I had more trouble judging distance of jumps and direction, and I've had more missed jumps in this game than any other game in memory, including some of the more challenging ones like the original Mario Bros. Rarely in Assassin's Creed have I just missed a ledge on a side-jump, but here it's happened more than I'd like to admit. It's VERY sensitive to your position and jump range.

All of this is unpleasant, but then I entered sliding hell. One portion of a planet forces you on a long, twisting slide coupled with jumps to ropes between sections of slide. Simple? It should be - left joy con and jump is all you can do, you can't even slow yourself or speed up as far as I can tell. Sometimes the first turn would simply throw me off. Other times, I'd jump to catch a rope, but miss it by anywhere from 90 to 10 degrees. Sometimes I missed the rope, but my character caught it, surprising me. After about 20 runs, I somehow made it, and the main problem is this: I don't feel like I learned anything, or got better. It might take me another 20 runs until I accidentally succeed. Mercifully, when falling, they plunk you down near the start of the slide with an HP penalty until you die after many falls. I can play racing games and IMPROVE. But I have no Earthly idea what mechanic is governing the sliding portion, and I was just glad to pass it.

After gritting my teeth and getting through that, I came upon a puzzle. I wasn't in the mood for deep thought (or any thought) at 1 am, so anything requiring both thinking and timing just isn't in the cards right now. Maybe later, but like I said, I'm done with this game for a long time, I'd say. I'm not interested in tedious puzzles, i wanted challenging combat.

Then there are the bugs. 6+ months after release, I've walked onto a pipe and started quivering for 30 seconds, then it stops. Weird.

Would I buy the game again? Naw, I'd just watch the cutscenes for story on **** or YouTube.

Definitely worth a play, but not by paying the AUD~100ish its selling for. Better off signing up for EA premier subscription for 20 bucks and playing it within the month - its not a very long campaign.

This game borrows from the template set by Tomb Raider, Batman, Mad Max and other explore/puzzle/fight formula games that I have loved in the past. By rights I should also love Jedi: FO, and believe me I tried. Far longer than was healthy, I tried. With all of the Star Wars lore and copyright assets to draw from, and such a well-worn gaming template that this game should be a knockout. Instead, it is an incredibly frustrating experience full of level design that can only be described as spiteful and vindictive. Everything appears designed to impede your progress, maximise frustration and destroy any possibility of enjoyment.

Whereas the combat in games like Batman and Shadows or Mordor are intensely satisfying, Jedi gives us near-impossible boss battles within minutes of starting the game that require you to be far beyond your current level to stand any chance of winning. Die (and you will, padawan, you will!) and you are teleported back to the last autosave location so you can re-live that horrendous section of jumps, climbs, battles and fails all over again, before you get another crack at the thing that killed you. Rinse, wash, swear, repeat.

Yes – checkpoints are a thing here. Ugh. It’s 2020 and we haven’t learned anything. That, and after finally completing a level, the devs succumbed to the laziest method of trying to lengthen this game by making us find our way back through the sci-fi assault course back to our ship. I am not a violent person, but…… please! You are preventing me from even seeing the game that I paid for. Life is too short for this BS. Uninstalling it after 10 hours or so of torturing myself was cathartic.

I remember PC Zone magazine running an article around 2004 with a list of game design choices that devs should avoid under any circumstances. With Jedi: FO, EA managed to tick every box of what not to do. After destroying Battlefield and now Star Wars, I am out!

In the graphics department, almost everything seems to be pretty ironed out. The music is a mix of Star Wars classic, and some new music that meet the exact location you are, this actually improves quite a bit the immersion, the sound of blasters, lightsabers, force powers is what has already been established in millions of other games, so fine.
The game is a lot of fun, the combat is really good, the variety of enemies keeps you making different decisions, trying to remember old ones, and the game never stops being challenging, some bosses can be not so hard as others will take several attempts, this is not a super punishing game, but it resembles one.
The really bad part in all of this is the story, what should drive you forward. Filled with clichés, right from the start and a lot of relationships feel incredibly rushed, some character reveals are mind boggling as a twist with even a slight pause to a name we never heard before, making it seems that some part of the story was cut for time, you get to backtrack some planets but it is felt that there should have been more planets and backtracking would be reserved for completionist, but again cut for time.
The game is not bad, but it feels that EA needed to save face quick, IMO they started a path towards that.

It could have been amazing but a lot of poor creative choices (most likely to reach a wider audience) were made so it is just slightly better than mediocre. Had this not been a star wars game and had I need grown up steeped in the original trilogy, I would have stopped playing it about 10 hours in. It's a crappy imitation of metroidvanias, soulsborne games, and, weirdly, the uncharted/tomb raider series.

It started out great. The 1 on 1 combat works well and some of the platforming sequences are breathtaking. But, after a while the fact that one still has to put effort into killing all but the lowest enemies becomes immersion-breaking. I mean I have a laser sword that can cut through anything and melee units can block my attacks with stun batons? Also, dismembering humans would have made the combat more satisfying but I get why they would leave that out, ratings and all. But, how does it fare in its aspirational categories?

Metroidvania: definitely lacking. They clearly want you to revisit areas but most of the stuff you find is cosmetic upgrades that are underwhelming. Who cares how my saber hilt is arranged? I can't see it during game play and there is gameplay benefit. Furthermore, some sections become locked forever after platforming or quick-time events, therefore, keeping one from collecting anything. And, the gating is artificial. It's obvious that areas cannot be reached without the double jump, which you do not get until quite far into the game. And what's behind this invisible wall? Probably some boring lore thing or cosmetic nonsense. It seems they want you to revisit areas and explore but they also punish you for doing it.

Soulsborne: very poor imitation. it is clear that this game takes a huge amount of inspiration from from software games, sekiro in particular. But, there is no stealth. There are also no I-frames, meaning that you can be damaged by a trash mob while trying to execute another trash mob. Further, rather than introducing interesting enemies with different combat mechanics, they just make them sabersponges and put dozens of them in a room. After a certain point in the game, it turns into a series of arenas, which seems against the spirit of a soulsborne game and is just busy work. Finally, it seems they decided to give a difficultly slider to make the game more accessible but then also did not polish the combat, because, hey, you can just turn the difficulty down.

The combat gets CLUNKY and CHEAP a few hours in. I turned the difficulty down it all the way down to get past a couple of particularly cheap bosses and I just did not feel invested enough at that point to learn their dance. And, as the protagonist grows in power it almost makes more sense to turn the difficulty down. Can a jedi knigh seriously find himself in a bind against two or three melee troopers? How the hell are they resisting my force powers?

Fights with other saber wielders are really rare and are all boss fights. There could be some rank and file sith to chop into bits but I guess that goes against the whole theme of redemption. That actually poses another ethical point: what are storm troopers but just soldiers that signed on to fight in the army? Why is it cool to turn them into chopped liver when force users deserve redemption? It's a difficult line to straddle, maybe there is no solution.

Uncharted/tombraider: here the game is pretty strong. There is lots of stuff to discover and the levels can have a lot of verticality. But the worlds are rather lifeless. There is only so much learning about a poorly fleshed out minor culture in the star wars universe I can take before getting bored.

Ultimately, I wound up forcing myself to finish the game and then deleting it. I hope to forget it soon.

There's a passion in this game from the developers that oozes out of every pore.

I'll come back to this to review in full detail, but it gives one hell of a first impression.

EDIT: After beating the game, I've had to drop the score down a few pegs. Sadly, the first impression doesn't hold up, because it never changes its' pace or tone. You do roughly the same thing over and over again until it comes to a fairly abrupt conclusion.

The gameplay loop isn't bad; it just becomes monotonous and there's a lack of adventure the further you go that I honestly didn't expect from the first few hours. A shame - a good game, but a shame because it could have been tremendous.

So a 9 for the first few hours drops to a 7 overall. Lesson learned - don't just a book by its' cover, or even its' first few pages!

The good, this is a Metroidvania style game and for those that like the genre its great to see a Star Wars entry into the genre. Of course it also has some Dark Souls elements and increased difficulty compared to most in the genre, but, it is much more forgiving than Dark Souls games. The force abilities are where the Metroidvania style come into play, while there is a skill tree, there are certain force abilities that are unlocked only by playing through the story. They open up new areas each time you get one which of course means that you will need to go back and explore. A nice feature is that the map is very good and it shows locations that are now accessible that were not before, so while there is back tracking, there is not the problem of trying to remember every place to use your new skill. For the most part the platforming is pretty fun and sometimes challenging, but you feel like you have pretty good control over the character.

Overall, its a great entry into the Metroidvania genre and a great Star Wars game.

KOTOR / KOTOR 2 brought much needed depth and a unique RPG experience (graphics and combat were terrible, though)
The Force Unleashed 2 pleased my reptilian brain will gratuitous action and wicked destruction

As much as I loved these games, none of them checked all the boxes.
I'd love to see a Witcher 3 + Skyrim + Sekiro mix... but set in the SW universe, with Jedi, Mandalorians, bounty hunters, crime lords, imperials, rebels, etc.

In other words, I want an open world SW game with beautiful graphics, solid combat mechanics, gore, challenging bosses, solid and mature story, tons of customization options, side quests, ridiculous levels of crafting, lots of worlds to explore, etc.

Even though Fallen Order isn't such a game, I like to consider it a potential baby step towards that direction.

Well, here are the pros and cons I found.

    Pros:
    - High quality 3d modelling, effects, etc.
    - Quality scenario design
    - Sekiro style combat and progression (although Sekiro is still way better)
    - Combat is quite satisfying (although the game does suffer from combo scarcity)
    - Story is decent and (unexpectedly) engaging
    - The game offers some truly epic scenes and is fun to play, overall (with ups and downs, ofc)
    - High difficulty levels are actually challenging
    - BD1 is actually useful and kind of fun
    - They put together a talented developing team and it shows.

    Cons:
    - The main character (Cal Kestis) is a ginger boy with a very punchable face
    - Enemy lock mechanic is kind of a nightmare most of the time
    - Parrying and blocking mechanics are unreliable
    - BD1 often fails to deliver stims in crucial moments, leading to death
    - Character smalltalk is scarce and pretty repetitive (same structures, same ideas... it gets old)
    - Too few mini bosses (perhaps it's just me being used to Sekiro's mini boss bonanza)
    - Not open world
    - Too few worlds to explore
    - Scenarios are too linear and small, despite being well designed and detailed
    - No side quests/activities available, just the main story and container/memory hunting
    - No fast travel (not necessarily bad, but I miss having the option, at least)
    - No dismemberment for humans and humanoids (we want cauterized gore!)
    - Too many ponchos and ugly outfits
    - All characters mispronounce "Cordova", including Cordova himself

So... as for me, Fallen Order is yet another **** cinematics emulator. This definitely should not been released for PC. Doesnt worth its price, definitely.

In my opinion this is peak Star Wars in terms of story. The gameplay and exploration is also very fun.

And while I understand why this is happening, I can't help but feel like some of the overwhelmingly negative reviews were written by people who wouldn't have been satisfied no matter what the game was.
Anyways, getting on with the review. I do realize this game is not an "objective" 9/10 (As much as objectivity in a game review is an oxymoron) and that had I experienced more and better iterations of this souls-like parry based gameplay loop my opinion might have turned out differently. Nevertheless, I confess, the game struggled to captivate me in the beginning. Characters didn't seem fleshed out and well-realized and I was conflicted on whether that was because I was fairly early in the game or because the writers were failing. Turns out that around the 5-6 hour mark everything started clicking into place, all the parts of the story I was supposed to see were connected and I was fully immersed. This honestly ended up being one of my favourite iterations of a Star Wars story, with great characters, a strong storyline, impressive locales and a great game on top of that. I really love the "game" part of this game. As much it was a mish-mash of mechanics from different games I found it really fun and inoffensive all-around. The combat was satisfying and seemingly crafted with great care. Smooth animations, great sound design, and all-right controls all lent themselves beautifully into this game's loop with only minor hiccups in my experience. Generally, the game did feel polished despite what I read about the subject. Finally, the music in this game plays a massive part in selling the setting, sounding like it was crafted by John Williams himself, intensifying all the story moments, and calming you after tense encounters (especially late-game good god). Overall, the game left me greatly satisfied, asking (and hoping) for more and I can only hope it did for you what it did for me. I am excited not only for what is next for Star Wars games but also what is next for Respawn, a studio that has shown time and time again their ability to deliver a great, almost nostalgic, gameplay experience with an equally great narrative. Won't forget this one anytime soon.

    Fallen Order is a fantastic game with a true Star Wars story, that said however there are some nagging smaller things which prevent it from reaching greatness. Much of these things are small but all combined have an impact that is noticeable and detracts from the experience, my experience is based on playing the game on Jedi Master difficulty. Negatives first;

    - Lightsaber combat is all but broken, the Lightsaber itself feels like it could do with a +10% reach, the kicks you can do felt like they had more range.

    - Basic combat is slashes and a kick at your disposal however relying on these alone will see fights becoming very long and drawn out, the problem comes when utilising heavy Lightsaber attacks, they drain the "Force" meter just as though you were using a Force move such as push or pull. I understand Respawn wanted to make the combat more challenging as you do need to take a Souls-like approach to it however having two completely different things rely on the same meter is just completely arse backwards what Respawn should have done (and MUST do in future FO games) is have heavy Lightsaber attacks use a stamina meter.

    - The game tries to encourage you to mix up your moves but again with two completely different things relying on the same meter this is not a practical way to play, at least on the harder difficulties.

    - There is no New Game+ for you to enjoy the game with all of your abilities unlocked to get better at using them nor is there a training arena for you to practice moves despite there literally being a training arena you have to fight through toward the end of the game. Surely Respawn could have easily taken that section and turned it in to an isolated training arena outside of the main game.

    - Boss battles feel very bad often I would have to cheese a combination of moves rather than use everything at my disposal because your character has such a long wind up period for better moves which the bosses handily exploit.

    - Bugs. I'd find myself falling through parts of a level inexplicably which ended up being the result of something ridiculous like double jumping when you can make the jump with a single jump and enemy attacks that are meant to be blockable just clean going through my block (yes I had plenty in my block meter) on harder difficulties the latter of those issues is particularly aggrivating.

    - BD-1s upgrades. Seldom will you find BD-1 upgrades organically through the game most of them are obscurely hidden. This is just another reason why a New Game+ is needed in FO your game design has failed if you can miss 70-80% of a characters upgrades through your playthrough on a game with no New Game+

    - My last criticism would be with the levels, they are all pretty much constant mazes with heavy platforming elements there are no cities/hub locations you can visit to help immerse you in the universe or story nor are there many different alien species to encounter.

    - You can't rebind keyboard and mouse controls on PC, what the hell Respawn?!

More positively however all of the characters in the game are superbly developed, the story is very Star Wars, gameplay is fun even though the planets you visit feel somewhat empty with nothing to flesh them out beyond "the mission" and BD-1 is both awesome and cute, he kicks arse. As a single player game FO is great, but replayability is zero with some unbalanced nagging issues. If Respawn can sort these things out in a sequel then it will be a game of the decade contender, at the very least game of the year contender. Thoroughly enjoyable despite some shortcomings.

This game is nothing, but a remapped, retextured, remodelled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and I mean it literally. You have a guy and a lightsaber, instead of a girl and a bow. Otherwise everything is the same.

Dark souls meets jedi meets brick.
The combat feels wonky, i seriously didn't feel as if i am a jedi rather a heavy brick.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is... okay. A really high quality game with immediately forgettable characters you can’t sympathize and a mundane story. I enjoyed some of the mechanics and certain planets/levels, but overall this was quite a disappointment considering the initial hype. Many say that you need to love the Star Wars universe in order to fully enjoy the game, but I believe that a good story is a good story regardless of how familiar you are with the franchise. Fallen Order just doesn’t have it.

    - Level design is great up until you get to the monkey planet the second time, where it becomes slightly ridiculous.
    - You can’t upgrade your sword, and there are no ranged weapons (you can throw a sword late in the game, but it’s quite useless), meaning that you have only one way to play. There are only a few useful skills since at the end of the day it’s about parrying and dodging.
    - You would expect a jedi to be a little bit more powerful - basically, you can only perform a few special attacks at the beginning of the game. - All enemies are pretty much the same, and, as you probably know, you can’t slide’n’dice human enemies. Seriously?!
    - The lore... Well, it’s really shallow. You find some short notes and clues, but they all feel AI-generated, something along the lines of “there was a lot of suffering here”. It doesn’t enrich the story or provide any further explanation to your pointless quest.
    - Bosses are neither interesting or hard. That guy on the red planet? He doesn’t even play any significant part in the story, they could easily replace him with a giant spider (for example).
    - Finally, the ending... Seriously?!

- some of the combat controls were a little clunky at times. Making my first point even more frustrating when Cal doesn't do the thing you tell him to do.
    - the jumping and sliding mechanics were a total pain. I lost count the amount of times I jumped to grab something and he wouldn't grab onto it, or when I was sliding down a hill and he starts sliding in a direction that's completely unpredictable
    - it's not very well optimised visually. Running on a 2070S and a 9700k, I saw frame drops as low as 25fps in some areas with not much graphical options to tweak.

    I loved:

+ the level design was incredible. The level of detail is simply stunning.
+ the voice acting was top notch! Not sure how they did it so well, but the facial expressions and the way they convey what they're saying is very believable, and you can't help but get sucked into the conversations during cut scenes.
+ the graphics are really nice.
+ I liked to combat and I liked learning the bosses. They were a little tough, but manageable. I just didn't like how the game punished you if you died. The re-spawn points were a bit of a let-down

Its a great game to explore the SW world, have a good exploration and combat, but only three bosses fight were memorable so was the landscape - only two planets I visited were very memorable. I still think that this franchise in Respawn's hands will have multiple games and I believe they'll be even better, since the game invested too many chapters will simple combat, and in the end when you really feel like a Jedi the game is about to end. I want a second game where we begin with a more intense history and combat such as the end of this game. Expand

My immediate impression when starting this game was how similar it was to the new Tomb Raider series. Many of the gameplay mechanics are copied, whether it’s climbing on rocks (it seems like > 10 percent of the game is spent doing this), squeezing through tight gaps, solving puzzles in ancient sites, conveniently sliding down some kind of nature ramp, swinging on ropes, and platforming across the landscape. This kind of gameplay is kind of fun at first, but gets boring quickly and kills the immersion. For example, why the **** do all these planets have nature slides? Oh, here comes another rock-climbing part. Great. **** this! I want to do Jedi stuff.

The lightsaber combat is satisfying and challenging. You get to one-hit generic stormtroopers as well as duel advanced STs who wield a variety of electric batons. Also, slicing through an imperial R2 unit and seeing the still-glowing shear of its dome fall to the ground really hits the spot. The boss fights are OK, but nothing special. However, the final boss fight is one of the greatest parts in the game, so if you’re struggling to finish due to boredom, keep on it.

I have no complaints about the story. It’s not KOTOR quality, but it will satisfy Star Wars fans. The adventures are meaningful and make sense. The voice acting was good, and the actor’s likenesses were used when possible, which was interesting, but also broke the immersion a bit. Overall I give this game a B.

I like Star Wars and Star Wars games too. As for me this is a very cool game because i like Dark Souls or Sekiro fights. Also in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order very good graphics and level design.

This game is a total garbage and waste of time. Poor plot, poor characters, poor graphics that ten to change quality from time to time. Also PC optimization is crap. Fights are irritating. There are so many bugs and lazy programming that it feels like some B rate production from 2005.
I registered just to write how bad this game was. How can they charge so much for such a bad game is

I registered just to write how bad this game was. How can they charge so much for such a bad game is almost as mind blowing as the fact that so many people seems to like it anyway.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It must be me putting the game on jedi master, but it takes me a couple days to get through a mission if im not on all day, the second sister boss fight on zeffo was so hard i had to turn down the difficulty just to get through it. Theres ALOT of backtracking in this game so if you dont like games like that dont play. Enemies are really annoying especially ones with big health bars and alot of damage. Overall i reccomend it but only to a specific audience. If you like games like dark souls go buy it, if your not good at dark souls dont bother Expand

One of the best PC Single Player games I've played. Combat style like Dark Souls, Metroidvania style of exploring, seamless transitions between zones, rewarding explporation... The levels so far seem consistent and the leveling up is a process that slightly empowers you while granting you new skills and abilities which enrich the gameplay experience.

Sincerely, I did not have doubts

Sincerely, I did not have doubts before. And I was right: this is one of the games of this year, and one of the best Star Wars games ever made. Thanks to Respawn and EA for making it possible!

Fallen Order is a must have for Star Wars fans and the best Star Wars game in years. Both literally and figuratively: the Force is strong with this one. [01/2020, p.42]

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gives its best on PC, delivering an awesome experience in 4K and 60 frames per second with advanced visual effects.
