This game ticks all the boxes with balanced challenging fun combat, good graphics and an amazing story. This game stays true to Star Wars and is 100% worth it.

Pretty descent game with good graphics and an above average game-play. Story isn`t all that original or engaging tho and game-play elements would be better if they were a bit more diversified.

The beginning of the game is pretty epic but it falls short after that - a lot of repetitive elements. I like the characters but everything feels hushed and stretched at the same time. Hushed because of the progression of the relationship between the characters and their growth during the story. Stretched because of a lot of backtracking.

Hushed because of the progression of the relationship between the characters and their growth during the story. Stretched because of a lot of backtracking.

Traveling to different planets feels like it is only in the game to give some change of scenery. And the galaxy doesn't feel big but rather small because of the amount of backtracking. Everything you find in boxes is only cosmetical and doesn't make any sense.

The thing that annoyed me the most are the sluggish controls. At the end of the game, you have several force or saber powers. But even after trying very hard I failed to trigger them reliably. Like throwing the lightsaber half of the time triggers the other attack that brings you close to the enemy. So instead of fighting from afar, I am now doing the exact opposite.
I died so many frustrating deaths because of the controls or while I (a Jedi) am being staggered to death by some enemy. Oh and by the way you cannot stagger them back.
In most harder fights your powers are getting blocked or don't work at all. Which reduces the fight to evade evade evade attack evade evade evade attack ... for minutes.

I was happy when the game was finally over so that I could get away from it. I cannot leave a game unfinished but I was tempted several times to destroy something out of pure frustration.

it is not a bad game but just has some very annoying issues.

Jedi Fallen Order is another game that proves single player titles can be successful in this day and age, especially coming from a publisher like EA, which seems to be so obfuscated on making games as a service lately and failing at it, at the expense of us, the players.

The premise of this game seems simple enough a priori, but once we start scratching the surface we can discover a lot more to it that we might have originally thought possible. This game was advertised to us quite vaguely, only referring to it as a game with “Sekiro-like combat” and stuff like that, until close to release we learn a bit more, like the game has slight “souls-like” elements, but not to the “hardcore” level the main games in that genre are known for, or that it also takes gameplay elements from games like Metroid, when it comes to exploration and all that.

Well personally, to me, the game also takes some notes from modern titles like the new Tomb Raider games, we even have sort of tombs here to explore, with their corresponding puzzles, backtracking, secret paths and a decent dose of jumping around and climbing. I think this part of the game, the exploration and navigation of the levels is really, really well done in Fallen Order, and the levels look nice, varied, with good environmental cues to tell the player where a new path might be hidden, but in a subtle way usually.

The overall level design is quite decent, and it’s enhanced by a very intelligent use of lighting, the game can look really pretty at times, when it matters, for sure.

When it comes to combat, I felt the game reminded me a lot of latest entry in the Darksiders franchise, Darksiders 3, and I believe it’s a decent comparison because just like SW:JFO, Darksiders 3 also added some slight “souls-like” elements to their gameplay, and I think it worked out well there; for Fallen Order though, I don’t think I felt these elements to be that compelling, I’m pretty sure the gameplay could’ve been executed in other different ways, keeping how it works, with all its moves, but I kind of understand the appeal, especially when playing on more challenging difficulties (I played the whole game on Jedi Master, which is the third of four difficulties) and in general the combat felt satisfying enough but also punishing against important bosses or dangerous foes, which tend to be plenty enough in the game.

In general, even if I’m not a huge fan of souls-like elements in my action games, I’m not going to say it ruined the experience, it was enjoyable, but it left me thinking if it could’ve been done with a bit more depth, or finesse, but it’s alright, although really hardcore fans of these difficult souls-like games might find Fallen Order way easier in general.

The PC version of the game is alright, it’s not free of small issues though: there’re some stutters when loading certain parts of the levels, or when exiting the ship, quite easy to reproduce, and as of today, Nov 28th, they haven’t patched them completely, but in general the game runs quite fine on my old i5 4690K paired with a GTX 1070 on Epic settings, getting stable 60 FPS minus the odd stutters, and even more if uncapping the frame-rate or setting an higher cap.

I would say though that Respawn could’ve put a bit more thought and effort into the PC settings, the graphic presets are quite basic, there are some settings that control several other parameters, like the Ambient Occlusion amount it seems to be controlled by the Post Process quality, and such…seems odd coming from Respawn because they did a better job on the PC settings on games like Titanfall 2.

Furthermore, the keyboard and mouse controls are a bit subpar, clearly Respawn didn’t put much effort into playing the game thoroughly with them, they’re serviceable, but the character moves in a very weird way when quickly strafing, and we even lack a walk key, so we can traverse delicate zones slowly…a shame, because I’ve finished Darksiders 3 or The Witcher 3 with keyboard and mouse on their hardest difficulties, with no issues, so I know keyboard and mouse can work in action games like these, it’s just a matter of making a decent implementation.
As expected, gamepads work fine, although another mistake is making the dodge/evade key “B/circle”, which is terrible, luckily for us the gamepad can also be fully remapped in the settings. The game’s not all about dodging, parrying is also very, very important, but please if you play this game, remap some of your buttons to something that doesn’t hinder your ability to move and attack at the same time at least.

After some good 27 hours, the story was quite decent, and it left me wanting more, in a good way, and I hope there’s more in the future and to EA I say… get this into your thick heads: single player will never die, as long as decent developers like Respawn keep making them and keep having creative minds and passion.

On easy it's not a problem but on other levels it's too punishing. Some of the platforming elements are a mix bag of good and bad, but at least you aren't penalized for cheap deaths. Performance wise, I have a mid system, and I had to tweak a lot of the Nvidia panel settings. Sadly the game lack many options in the graphic area. The music is fun and sound are superb. The levels are pretty intricate, maybe too much at times, but they are beautifully designed. I think the map is maybe more confusing then helping at times. I give it 85%. I don't understand the mediocre and low reviews, the backtracking is working really well imho. I got a real darksiders meets uncharted meets dark souls dressed in star wars lore. Combat was good, force powers were balanced throughout the game.
Storywise, truly great adaptation within the universe. It manages to get the star wars good/evil balance.

Maybe I was misled by video ads and other reviews, or by peers that were also purchasing the game. I am mostly into RPG, or even light RPG such as AC Odyssey, etc. I was led to thinking that, yes, it is an adventure game, yet had skill trees, and yet also was led to believe that exploration was a huge part of it. This got me thinking that it was a bit heavier in RPG and customization than it was. The skill trees are pretty light, though what got me was that it isn't so much as an exploration game, as it an obstacle-based game. There's lots of jumps, climbs, perfectly-timed wall runs, etc., that require a lot of controller acrobatics. Otherwise you fall down the cliff.

Falling down the cliffs bugged me a bit. The character won't even stop, he'll just run right off a cliff to his doom. This reminded me a bit of the old Sierra games, coining the term "Sierra death", which seems outmoded. I realized the game would be a constant frustration of trying to navigate obstacles acrobatically, or watch Cal continuously fall to his doom.

For what the game actually is, its really good. But it isn't an exploration game, its an obstacle-based game that places obstacles and very guided paths to discover the maps.

Good game, and the combat was fun, though I felt it wasn't advertised for what it is. I'm not much into obstacle games, since I find them frustrating, but if you are into navigating labyrinths and deadly passages, then it's for you. I was looking for a bit more RPG elements, more open-world exploration vs. obstacle/closed-based exploration. There is also no real gear customization that has an impact on the game.

If it was presented to me in a better way, or if it fit my genre better, i.e. RPG or action-RPG/shooter-looter, it'd get a green. Instead, a high yellow.

While it is understandable that a single player game without microtransactions is an achievment in itself for EA Games, overall the game is terribly overrated. It is obvious that EA doesn't understand that graphics and motion capture with actors don't make a good game.
Graphics: While as i said, the game has some beautiful graphics, the world feels empty and boring. The impression i got while exploring the world was very similar to that from ME: Andromeda and DA: Inquisition. Not to mention, the game has some terrible optimization, which makes it run terribly on pc (admittedly, mine is not a high end one anymore, but has no problems running games like Witcher 3 or Sekiro on max), and that leads to my next point:
Gameplay: As it has been pointed out seemingly everywhere, the game borrows heavily from Sekiro in terms of combat mechanics. However it is obvious, that either devs don't understand what makes it great, or don't care. Where Sekiro combat is fast-paced, aggresive and always highly entertaining experience, with longer battles turning into a breathtaking dance of deflects, dodges, jumps and cinematic deathblows, Fallen Order is slow and clunky mess. Enemies are mostly passive, all of them having a couple of simplistic moves. On harder difficulties they tried to counter it with **** parry timings and the classic "more damage = difficulty", with enemies dealing some ridiculous damage. "But wait", you say, "Dark Souls series and Sekiro also had enemies with lots of damage, who are hard to parry." True, but they slso had dharp and responsive controls allowing you, no matter the situation, to feel in control over your character. In Fallen Order, I feel like i am driving on ice with bald tires. Dodge has a very short distance, and all action besides classic R1 spam seem to have a cooldown after that. You just did a double-tap dodge roll to avoid a big attack? Now you have to wait, can't do the same for a second attack in a row. You just parried a first strike in combo? Sorry, can't parry the others like in Sekiro, you have to keep holding block for all the combo, allowing enemy to regain their posture and almost nullify the effect of parry. Sometimes, if you stagger the enemy, they will hit you right after stagger timer, skipping animation. If you die to an enemy, he will star glowing yellow showing he got your xp, kinda like Bloodborne did with eyes. The problem? Unblockable attacks are shown by enemy glowing red. Does red glow show over yellow? Nope. Get screwed if you try to block/parry that. If you managed to hit your enemy and get your xp back, game enters slow-mo for a few secs, disrupting flow of combat and often costing you a successful dodge/parry. Platforming parts often become annoying aswell, with controls often making it hard to hit that rope/hole you are jumping at and making you start the section over. Oh, and why did I say optimization leads to all these? It makes the already bad even worse.
Story: So far, I haven't yet completed the game, as I am struggling to find desire to do so somewhere in the middle of a story. What I did see thus far seems to be a regular basic hero story. Characters are boring cliche with no attempt to bring them to life whatsoever. Same with dialogues, which appear to have been written by AI copying some of the most basic lines ever. Some story parts make no sense at all (small spoiler here: you get a second blade for your lightsaber by finding a randon table in a cave, pulling a welder from your pocket and just fixing it. No story behind it whatsoever). Lazy and unimaginative writing. A special place in my heart is reserved for regular enemies' lines which are downright cringy at times.
Final thoughts: After playing this game seeing so much praise for it is surprising as nd revolting to me. While its true that its a singleplayer story star wars game finally, the words I find for it are: boring, messy, unfinished. I find it quite likely that publishers choice of engine, graphics focus and development time are what stopped it from being a good game, but as it stands, thats how it is. Is it a good game? No. Is it a bad game? Somewhat. Is it worth its price? HELL NO. Should I try it out? Sure. But make sure that you can refund it, or play at friend's copy. This game could be good, great even, but it is not. Slapping Star Wars textures over Sekiro would yield better results. EA doesn't understand that videogame should first of all be fun and enjoyable to play. My recommendation? Go play a better game, KOTOR for Star Wars, Sekiro for combat. Don't waste money on Fallen Order, and don't believe all the praise it gets.
P.S. Almost forgot: there is no way to instantly travel between safe points or to your ship. Have fun backtracking half the game and remembering which path leads to this door you can now open.

I played it about 3 hours before I realized Im just wasting my time.

    - Its all about combat and its a lot of trial and error, like a Dark Souls or Sekiro with Star Wars paint job.
    - The previous point wouldnt be such a problem, if the saving mechanic wasnt just as frustrating as in those games. When you die, you even lose all your accumulated experience that is not a full level and all enemies respawn. You often die on trash mobs, because the controls are so unresponsive and stupid. As if they just want to troll people or only aim for masochistic people.
The saving/meditation points dont feel like Star Wars Jedi at all. Superimposed BS.
Oh yeah, reloading from a save point takes ages, even on my very fast SSD. I guess backtracking over half the map wasnt enough wasted time already...
    - Again, the previous point wouldnt be such a big deal if the controls were good on PC. But they arent. They are a horrible mess and the devs obviously knew that, because when you start the game for the first time they implore you to use a controller instead of mouse/keyboard. WTF?
The tutorial for the controls is also only half-assed. In the beginning I didnt even know what to do, because the game didnt really tell me what I was supposed to do. Later it wont even tell you anymore at all what to do when there is a new ability you learn.
    - The maps seem very un-Star Wars like, the enemies, too.
    - The maps also are very lazily designed. I read there are only 4 and you have to unlock all the regions in them over time and go back and forth between them while you do that. So after a few hours you actually feel like you have seen the whole game already, and of course they get boring very quickly. On the first map, for example, I knew that there was still a lot to explore (I had 62% explored), but I was already tired of it and so went on to the next planet.
    - The graphics arent very optimized and look very cartooney at times. There are huge amounts of animation and clipping errors. And even the lip sync often is way off. Come on... this is an EA game... Or is this normal now since the Andromeda fiasco?
    - The story doesnt seem very appealing, the dialogues are only basic, there are a lot of illogical and not SW-canon things happening and when I saw that little alien that is your friend, I was instantly reminded of Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. Not only how he looks, but also how he talks, and his personality. Even his voice sounds very similar to Rockets. A cheap and very blatant rip-off.

Honestly, when I played this game, I really felt like playing a cheap or very old console game. Even the graphics arent that great, and as I said, the map design seems very limited, coupled with very low view distance/very poor detail in the distance, this probably made me feel like that about it.
And of course the controls, which really feel like one of the first console ports ever made.

A completely overrated game in pretty much every aspect.
I guess Dark Souls speedrunners and other masochists will will love it.

Simply this game is God of War (2018) + Uncharted Series + Sekiro mixed together It has some iconic points from these games but this is not a bad thing in my opinion cause those games proven theri succes very well so generally this game does not have so much unique points but it's narrative and challenging gameplay makes it so fun.

Played for 30 minutes. It's an ugly port from consoles with unskippable cut-scenes and clunky controls. There seems to be a big amount of bugs I encountered within my 30 minutes, like couldn't escape the inventory menu because my Esc key stopped responding. Had to alt+f4 and then after watching few minutes of start up scenes closed the game and uninstalled it. Game seems really boring tho.

The game is an excellent blend for what is needed for a star wars game. It combines amazing combat with good uncharted feeling exploring and parkouring. The story gets you involved and by the end, I really felt for the characters and it surprised how attached I was to them. Respawn has done an excellent job and if you are thinking of buying this game I would recommend it.

The game is fun from start to end.
In the beginning I thought the game would be all about jumping from place to place and holding to ropes, but it is not. The combat is quite challenging and I like it, but once you get the hand of it is quite easy. I played on Master Jedi difficulty in my first play-through and was not frustrated.

The combat is quite challenging and I like it, but once you get the hand of it is quite easy. I played on Master Jedi difficulty in my first play-through and was not frustrated.
The combat design is awesome. I liked the mix of reality and fantasy. For example, Cal doesn't roll indefinitely without having to compose himself. Or parry someone with no impact to it, and if the player swing the saber, the animation must to complete so you can jump and do whatever. Quite realistic. But the combat pace is not slow due to that, is very fast. Amazing!
The history is very good and the characters are very polished with good developments.
The graphic effects and animations are stunning and the game is very well optimized. And the cut-scenes, such masterpieces.
The concept of art from the main characters, to the Mantis, to the planets and all its environment, to each enemy and creature, was very well made. The production team has my congratulations.

That being said I have one downside and one mixed feeling.
The downside was that our character didn't get to choose its second combat style. The one handed saber is standard for everyone, but in my opinion we should had been given the option about the second style. If it would be two handed (as it is) or dual wield (such as Malicos), since our Padawan is learning his own way.

The mixed feeling is killing humans with a lightsaber. Well, it doesn't matter the armor the person is using, light sabers should cut people in half unless there is an energy shield. But I can understand the developer worries about it becoming too easy, or too hard, cause since the NPC would die with one hit or shot, the player too. It could become quite frustrating. People doesn't think about that often.

This is not a game for everyone, for some people it might be boring because of backtracking.
But I like it a lot. I think it is rewarding becoming strong and getting new abilities so I can loot new stuff in areas where I couldn't before.

I hope there is a continuation to it.

    - Souls-like - I know that Souls games have a following, and the combat in this game seems OK...ish? But I, for one, hate games with respawning enemies - it feels like a chore, rather than fun, once you're dealing with the same group of enemies for the n-th time (especially since the game has all this backtracking)
    - minibosses are just regular mobs with damage output x10, and possibly a minor change to the attack pattern - not really inspiring
    - unrewarding exploration, with most of it giving really disappointing colour swaps; there are a few exceptions (bonus HP, bonus healing, bonus force), but these are few compared... on top of that, the ponchos look AWFUL (ALL OF THEM)
    - no fast travel - this probably ties in with the second point but this really feels like a time waster - go to planet, do your thing, then you need to trek all the way back to the ship... then you go to another planet (you've already been on) and need to trek to the one place you can now unlock... and so on; way WAY too much time is wasted on backtracking
    - performance is mediocre: 1070 with an i7 7700 and plenty of RAM to spare, and the game will often dip below 60 on a 1080p...
That said, there are some good elements - the combat feels OKish (as mentioned), the visuals, while nothing mind-blowing are solid enough (really like the way planet-to-planet travel was done), sound and music are spot on, some pretty good voice work and facial animations as well. Still, with the above - I just can't see the justification for the price. :/

Anything beside that this game reminds me of Force Unleashed 1 in a good and bad way. The good is that the game is just that there is no gimmicky stuff that publisher/developer add into the game. The bad however is the game feel like it's last gen game, every collectible excluding HP/Force/Stim increase in the game doesn't give you anything beside purely cosmetic . And acquiring that sometimes required massive back tracking and the cosmetic is just skin, different texture with the same model and it's really ashamed because TFU they have a unique costumes and they have story purpose as well on how you wear on a different planets.

    - Unnecessary long animations. Those who have played the game will understand when e.g. opening crates, flying to a new planet or customizing your lightsaber. The game forces you to watch the long animation play off every time.
    - Big areas, no fast travel. As you progress, you get deeper into the map. You will also need to get back. In this game, you have to WALK all the way back to your ship. Granted, there are shortcuts but it is still tedious to find your way back since some areas are designed like mazes. Lack of fast travel also means that when you need to backtrack to a map because there is an area you havent explored, you need to walk all the way there.
    - Enemy spam at times. This usually wouldnt be a problem if the game was more responsive, but it isnt. Each enemy will make you stagger and the game loves to throw a bunch of close range enemies as well as long range enemies at you.
    - Camera. At times, it is not showing what you want to see, making the game even more difficult and obnoxious.

There is no desire to continue playing this game. If you remove the name of Star Wars, then 75% of the audience will simply pass by and give this game a low rating. And thanks for 13+ where with a lightsaber you can’t chop off people’s body parts.

The real score is more close to 8.5/10, so that "10" is more for mitigation those idiotic (sorry, no other word for that) "0-s" out there for "not representing particular group among main characters" (seriously?!).

The game is good, very solid. Good emotional story, beautiful graphics and sound, perfect VA. Protagonist is truly well made and the acting is great. Gameplay... not so

Gameplay... not so perfect. And PC controls are questionable, but (!) 1. this is PC, adjust it to your liking, 2. you are warned from the start - the game is meant to be played with a controller.

If you are not so keen about gameplay - story alone is worth to get the game still. Christmas is coming - give yourself a gift of a (finally!) good game in Star Wars Universe.

I love the direction that Respawn took with this particular game - huge breath of fresh air for the Jedi-themed games. Even suitable for those who enjoy Action-Adventure titles with large areas to explore through multiple approaches.

If you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan, an average, or even new to Star Wars - get this game. Or even if you’re not a Star Wars fan - it’s a great adventure with challenging combat scenarios and puzzles. The game is a little buggy which is expected, as it is running on a high-end graphics engine and is extremely detailed. The only main thing that I don’t partially like is that there isn’t fast travel points, but at the same time, not having fast travel points makes the overall feel of the game more immersive.

One aspect worth mentioning is that Dathomir is not how we saw it in the clone wars and that’s what I was expecting (fairly expected as The Clone Wars is Cannon to the series). Although the design is off, it is still fun to play through, it just would had been nicer to explore around authentic ruins; explore the night sister massacre and witness force visions and echoes of the massacre to expand what we didn’t see in the Television series.

The storyline is fantastic as it is cinematic and will leave so much to be done outside of the game (paralleling the same feeling I have about the Mandalorian and it's impact upon the future of Star Wars films). It really does show you the path of the Jedi and helps you understand and feel more deeply connected to these characters that we love - such as Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s just a great game it’s put my faith back in Star Wars games from EA if they can continue down this track.

It offers great combat and gameplay systems, spanning multiple open worlds to explore, gameplay mechanics crossing between the likes of Zelda, Tomb Raider, Ico, challenging combat scenarios similar to Dark Souls and Bloodborne, as well as lightsaber fights similar to the beloved Jedi Knight series. BD-1 Is a very cute droid companion and is a highlight of the story; I wish we had them in real life [it’s like having a cat in the game]. This game is a must buy for any Star Wars fan. I have not yet completed the story as I keep getting sidetracked with exploration, but it’s very fun.

While I do not like the idea of DLCs for most EA Games because they seem to be original content cut in order to make extra money, but this game feels complete so I would very much like to see them release more planets and stories as DLC.

Overall this game is brilliant. A Solid 8/10,

if you can ignore some of the bugs (they're not major at all), you’ll really enjoy this fantastic Action-RPG. Good luck fellow Jedi, May the Force Be with You as We are One with the Force.

Never been a big fan of 'metroidvania' style games, but it didn't feel unwlecome here at all. It always felt like a pleasure getting into new combat situation with new abilities, and i felt 'stronger' as the game progressed, much like you did in dark souls too. Returnign to areas later in the game was also rewarding when new unlocks became available.
Overall, a fantastic star wars offering.
The only downside, its seems there is a lack of a NG+ option. All i wanted was to replay the game on a new difficulty setting whilst keepign my unlocks - will just have to start a new game. no biggy.

PROS: Good music (typical good and grand SW music, no notable themes for the characters, though); Decent graphics; Very good art style and set designs (many places look great and it's nice to just look around); Decent acting (they do the best with the script they are given - more on the script later); Decent platforming; Decent combat (decent variety of moves to tinker with...but more on combat later); Your crew is mostly endearing

CONS: SEVERE IDENTITY CRISIS (the game draws from so many popular games that it doesn't know where to go and what to do - it tries to do so many things simultaneously that it fails to be remarkable in any way); Terrible script (typical no-nuance and brainless jedi vs empire hogwash; the story is very clearly just an excuse to have our characters jump from planet to planet so that the visuals differ; at important story junctions, Cal will say a very "jedi" thing to say as if we're supposed to care or relate, but he just comes off as out-of-touch and preachy as hell); SEVERE COMBAT MECHANICS ISSUES (more on this in a bit).

Below is a a little bit more explanation on the above points.

Script first with very vague references only, so no spoilers. You'll get it if you've finished the game. In general the script for the story really likes to create artificial tension. Examples follow: Cal gets mad at someone for not saying something, but his anger doesn't make sense at all. There literally was no reason for him to get mad. Then later he apologizes, as if it's supposed to be character growth; but again, there was no reason for him to get mad in the first place so the whole mini-arc of him getting mad is stupid and pointless. Next. Cal needs something important that breaks. It breaks for absolutely, literally no reason. No foreshadowing, no warning it could happen...it just...breaks. Why? For tension, of course! After a moment of despair over the nonsensical breakage, Cal has a generic, uninspired, absolutely predictable lightbulb moment that...fixes the seemingly un-fixable? Huh? Another. Cal and crew finally have the objective they fought so hard for...then Cal says "no" to it? Huh? After all that? Just like that? Cal gives the reason, "leave it to the Force"...but...huh??? Nani????? The change of heart makes absolutely no sense and is severely un-earned, plus it absolutely undermines the trajectory of the story in an un-earned way. I'm getting The Last Jedi flashbacks. If this was a movie, it would have been panned just as severely as The Last Jedi. Speaking of The Last Jedi, Cal is very much a Mary Sue (hello Rey). By the end of the game his Jedi Resume and body count is...insane. His successes and feats are things you would expect from a Jedi Grandmaster focused on combat or something, someone who has devoted his or her entire life to combat...not some young punk who hasn't practiced his Jedi training for more than a decade. Good thing the gameplay is decent...kinda.

COMBAT. My goodness, the combat. On the surface-level, it's fine. Looked great in the trailers. But in practice? The combat is a mess. Firstly, the arbitrary and asinine rules on Staggering. This is one of JFO's greatest sins. It's extremely amateur game developing. Cal Staggers when hit by any attack. Sounds fine on paper. But in practice? This results in many cheap deaths. A bunch of tiny critters can stunlock you to death, giving you no window to use an ability to reset your position. A enemy boss can absolutely combo you to death, 100-0. You'll just watch it happen. No room to dodge, force push, or block. Nothing. Just staggered to death. You will watch this happen to you again and again and again. Not even Sekiro, one of the hardest games of all time, did this to such an egregious degree. And then, Stagger seems to have different rules for the enemies. Cal can be staggered at any time. But enemies? Sometimes they will arbitrarily ignore Stagger from your attack. This makes NO sense. They can do it to Cal but he can't do it to them? Ridiculous. Dark Souls did it better - large enemies are resistant to Stagger. Strong, special enemies are resistant to Stagger. Damage them enough, they'll Stagger a bit so you can deal extra damage. That system is far more intuitive. No such clear and consistent rules in Fallen Order.

Running out of characters. Gonna wrap up. Fallen Order should have focused on one to two things. Jedi Outcast? Extreme focus on force powers, lightsabers, and dueling sith. Amazing combat, amazing game. KOTOR? Extreme focus on storytelling and character development. Amazing role-playing, amazing game. Jedi Fallen Order? Not amazing at anything. The platforming feels like a waste of time. Backtracking feels like a waste of time. Combat is fun but lacks focus and polish. Could've been so great...

I didn't pre-order, telling myself that something had to go wrong with it, it's published by EA afterall! I picked it up shortly after release however, having read some very positive praise from industry outlets and reviewers on YouTube.

Boy, was I not disappointed, I'll be doing my best to avoid spoilers in this review, but apologies if I miss anything.

You play as Cal, a former Jedi Padawan who survived the Jedi Purge following Order 66. You've spent your youth hiding on the planet of Bracca, scrapping the former Republic ships marking the end of an era. You've spent these countless years hiding from the Empire, blending in with the masses until one unfortunate event reveals your precense, forcing you to flee for your life. It's from here you meet your would-be motly crew of adventurers, looking to unlock the mysteries of a structure discovered by an old Jedi Master in an effort to hold the line and restore the Jedi Order.

It's a linier story, although you have the ability to travel between different planets at will. Faithful to the metroidvania style, you backtrack through areas you've previously cleared, able to unlock new shortcuts and new areas of the map with new powers that you've accumulated throughout your travels. This may not be to everyones taste, however I've always enjoyed this style of game, having played the recent Bloodstaind: Ritual of The Night to death. It's satisfying noting something and coming back to it later to access hidden areas and offer a degree of replayability to a single map, while frequently rewarding you for your efforts by providing new customisation options such as skins for Cal, your droid compansion BD-1, your ship and even lightsaber parts. I should note that there's no fast travel in the game either, you'll have to work for your progress making the shortcuts you unlock as you explore a godsend and really rewarding you for going off the beaten path and exploring the wider map.

I really enjoyed the story, travelling between some iconic locations and exploring lost tombs. It in some ways reminded me of the episodes in Star Wars: Rebels when Ezra explores the Jedi Temple to gain new understanding of the Force and the wider universe. It's refreshing with some decent puzzles and amazing areas to explore, instead of pure combat like in the Force Unleashed. The ending in particular was incredible, with some excellent cinematic moments which left me speachless after watching it.

Combat is excellent, being one of the most enjoyable renditions of lightsaber combat I've ever seen in a Star Wars game. It is however not without its issues. Against a couple targets you can parry and dodge relatively well. In some parts of the game however, you'll be swarmed by several enemies and it's here that things don't do so well. You'll attempt to roll out the way or use an ability only to get staggered by repeated attacks, which can really ruin the flow of combat. Thankfully, as you learn the various enemy types you can anticipate these swarm attacks and take action early to prevent being overwhelmed. On the highest difficulty the game rewards patience and calculated approaches to each situation, prioritising specific enemies first as you attempt to control the battle. The comparisson to Dark Souls is somewhat valid, although many would consider it a 'Souls Lite' experience.

Progression is tied to Cals perk tree allowing you to increase your base HP or Force metre levels, healing charges as well as new abilities buffing your force powers or lightsaber techniques. If you die, you lose your current progress to the next perk point, spawning at the last 'meditation' point you saved at. You can however go back to where you died, and simply by hitting the enemy that killed you once regain that lost progress. This way death has a very real impact on progression, but likewise rewarding those who persevere and press on. By the end of the story, you'll feel much more powerful and make the transition from lost Padawan to a fully fledged Jedi Knight.

I'm actually coming towards the end of my second playthrough, this time on Jedi Grand Master difficuty which is very challenging, but not unfair. Jedi: Fallen Order personally sets a new standard of what we should expect from a Star Wars game, following years of disappointment it's incredibly refreshing to play a Star Wars game that does what it says on the tin, a complete story, no DLC, no microtransactions anywhere to be seen.

If you're a fan of the metroidvania games, or just a Star Wars fan I HIGHLY encourage you to pick this one up. A really excellent game that will hopefully show EA that this is the way forward for future titles

This game would be a lot better with the ability to fast travel, at least back the your ship.
My biggest issue with the game is FORCED DEATH/FAILURE. NO ONE likes a forced fail, it is annoying and incredibly overdone and lazy 'writing'. Multiple times in the game you are forced to fail, regardless of how well you played a fight, the game will force you to lose, it's honestly pathetic. The writing in general is rather weak and also seems like it was written before it was decided what the gameplay would be like. There are many time where Cal is like "we gotta get back quick!" which doesn't make sense given the gameplay which involves lots of dying and lots of backtracking.

BUT overall the game is good, if you have ever wanted to play a souls-like game and want something easier to get into the genre with, then this is fantastic.

There's probably around 6 hours of gameplay and 12 hours of backtracking. Combat is boring on lower difficulty levels but the game breaks on higher.

There are five different attacks enemies can use against you: a shot, short-narrow attack, wide attack, long attack and an area of effect. All of those can be dodged by staying close and dodging to the side which means all ten or so enemies get old real fast. All enemies have some of the mentioned attacks. For example alien goat has long and wide attack but alien goat slug has wide and puke attack. Tiny crawly insect has the short-narrow attack and aoe but tiny flying insect has the short-narrow and aoe attack.
Fights near the ledges like to end with falling down, respawning near enemies and falling down again.
Every slap you receive interrupts your action, but plenty enemies have "armor" mechanic which makes them invulnerable to stun delay. Attack hit detection works in enemy favor so you will find yourself missing hits that you thought will connect, yet enemies will damage you even when they are not touching your character model. By the end of the game there's a sequence where you can die, but are unable to attack which makes xp loss permanent. I played on Grandmaster and combat system relies basically on dodging behind the enemy and slap his back. Dodge, slap, dodge, slap. Combos are pointless. All of this makes difficulty level feel as cheap as the forced backtracking.
    What the f*ck Stig?

When you are defeated you respawn along with the entire map and you need to backtrack to the NPC that killed you to reclaim your exp. It sometimes glitches or you die because of wonky camera or controls and you lose exp either way. Going to main menu to reload the game is quite often a valid option. It's a pointless system some poor people had to work on.

Gameplay has been already done in Jedi Academy and Force Unleashed. There are literally the same moves and upgrades you've seen before.

You can change your droid and space ship shader color and customize your lightsaber appearance which you don't really notice much during gameplay. There are seven laser colors which is nice I guess but five of them available only by the end of the game. I keep wondering why they didn't give an option to do a limited RGB saber color selection.

    Everything glitches occasionally:
    - shadows and lighting can load late
    - physics can throw enemies up in the air
    - fall through models, kill through doors
    - healing sometimes does not work despite Cal speaking his line
    - dodging and blocking sometimes does not work
    - camera likes to point down forcing you to micromanage it, often in bad moments
    - targeting likes to break forcing you to micromanage it, often in bad moments
    - button responsible for camera is the same as switching targets which does not work well when you need it most
    - enemy collision detection is different than for a player. If you jump into empty elevator shaft enemies behave like elevator is present
    - cutscene scripting might not kick in properly or completely
    - enemy ai might not load properly leaving brain dead npcs
    - AI is basic, enemies kill themselves with their own explosives
    - if you slow down hazards those can still kill you, which looks silly
    - can crash and with the checkpoint system it means even more backtracking. The closer to the end the more often crashes happen.

Game clearly breaks with increasing frequency the further you go but that's something reviewers did not experience because all reviews are based on first two planets. Zombies on Dathomir are perfect example how terrible this game can look in motion and the bat thingy boss there is a pure clusterf*ck. It seems like they didn't even bother animate some of the late, unskippable cutscenes properly.

Planet complexity decreases with game progress. Game lures you and scams reviewers with plenty exploration in first two stages, only to cut the third and fourth in half, making last two essentially long corridors with very little to literally no branching paths. Last planet is just a corridor.

Iconic character makes an appearance by the very end but in a boring QTE sequence making it not menacing or dramatic but pointless. The ending is absolutely terrible. It's stated multiple times that you are lead by the force through entire game only to drop the macguffin "leaving the fate to the force". WHATS THE F*CKING POINT!
Also the story could end in a single hyperjump if they decrypted droid's memory banks instead of backtracking through four different worlds.

Nothing can be really said about Empire characters except that they are stupid and evil.

There's essentially no ending and there are more words in ending credits than screenplay.

Decent Uncharted 2 clone. Could've rip off Revengeance combat system though. Despite all of that it's still the best game EA produced in a decade.

    Edit: Plenty of edits.

Took me around 17,5 hours to play through and i truly enjoyed those hours as well! Can't wait for a sequel to this one, all in all i'd give it a solid 8.9/10. One of the better games iv'e played in recent years and the best of 2019 for me personally. Expand

In details, the story builds from a well built introduction to what generates the game plot - escaping the Empire's Inquisitors. It lacked of pace during the first third of the game, but got much more interesting as soon as we uncover plot twists during our tomb raiding on Zeffo. At this point, the game got much faster, enemy packs got harder to take down, and uncanny/unexpected events happened which took us away from our main path. The game's ending was quite predictable, if you follow Cal's conversations with the other members of his crew (notably the last one to join the gang), but the tension reaches its highest point ! And although people might think Cal is not as complex of a character as other members of his team, I thought quite the opposite !
On the gameplay perspective, as I have never played a Dark Souls game in my life, I did not have a base to compare it with, so I lived it as a brand new game experience ! The enemy respawn annoyed me at first, but I got over it really quickly. The progression tree was well balanced and I could update it on a regular basis throughout the game. The saber combat felt immersive and much more complex once you've met up with Purge troopers and mini bosses (#OggdoBoggdo). The exploration is always interesting, as you're always hinted at using specific Force powers to access specific zones - all of it complemented by back stories from Force echos, which I thought was a neat touch !
In conclusion, if you are fans of single player experiences, this game is a must play. It is not the best entry point, if you are new to Star Wars (the best would be the movies of course), but it's a nice entry point to the canon extended universe ! Besides the few game freezes I had (3 in total, including one where I had to restart the game), the story is compelling and strong, and the gameplay is a brand new experience for Star Wars gamers !
    A must-have !

I think this game must play for kids. For me, its boring, illogical, but interesting. On Epic, game is beautiful.

The pace in which you develop upgrades and feel them veeery much was the key part for me. Specially the game being 'metroid prime' based.

Seems like EA hit the spot this time. This is a great game and combat feels really good.
One thing that I would change is the lack of side quests and explorabe places in the game.

EA and Respawn have proven they have the talent. While the game isn't particularly extraordinary in regards to mechanics, I've got to say it's incredibly fun and immersive. There's also a lack of any roleplay mechanics, but I guess it's because this is not OUR story, but Cal's. I hope EA regains the fame by focusing on producing, publishing and funding good games like this one, and an outstanding job by Respawn, that's 2 in a row, let's hope you keep on this track. Expand

The Force powers at first seem pretty simple but as you play the game you find all sorts of creative ways to use your powers. There is also some uncharted style platforming here as well which didn't really impress me too much but it does fit the star wars theme, especially some of the cooler action sequences. I played through the game on the second hardest difficulty which gave a decent challenge at the start and by the end i really felt like i had earned that Jedi master title. The level design could use some work, however the levels still fold in on themselves with cool shortcuts and secrets to find. The graphics where quite good , the soundtrack and sound effects where all very star wars , but i did get some frame rate drops during some more demanding moments. The story here i would say got the job done , I found myself pushing forward at points just to find out what happens next but in the end i was left with a feeling of wanting more.

All in all i think its safe to say we have been given a solid star wars game with weighty combat, that ideal star wars aesthetic, and a fairly decent story even though i would have liked a little longer of a game for full price. I give it a solid 8/10.

One of the best single player games in a log time. Respawn did a great job. Great story that is in line with the SW movies and tv shows. A lot of problem solving and running around. Wish there was more fighting but even with that. I enjoyed it so much.

I have waited such a game for years, and I'm glad to see that such a company like Electronic Arts did a good game. Not the ideal one, but I have not seen any Star Wars-like game for a few years. Hope they plan to release a new one someday. And it was a big surprise for me to see a black Jedi. You serious ?
And more one things - combat system. Many movements there are useless or require u a ton of luck if u plan not to take hit first. It makes my SP investments really disappointing matter.

And in the end, I would like to express my gratitude for the russian localization. That's great!
