Nothing I can really say that hasn't been echoed by so many others here. You know why it's getting trashed, it deserves every bit of the 0 scores. The gaming community has had enough of being shat upon by Evil Arts.

Battlefront II is a money-spending sim by notorious brand rapist Electronic Arts. When they're not sinking brands, they're sinking stock value and setting new lows for the gaming industry. Here, you'll find nothing more, nothing less - a stunning monolith of mediocrity and cynicism and greed.

That is capitalism at its best. But instead of competing for being the better game they compete for milking the maximum out of gamers. Its like a chef who charges you extra for for freshly ground pepper. But who is to blame?

Please don´t buy this game. EA views you as cattle and their threatment of this game proves it. Lootboxes and Pay to Win practices are damaging the Gaming Industry. The Gambling that is unavoidable with the lootbox system is dangerous to ex gambling addicts and children alike.

No normal story of the company! And in multiplayer, the system works P2V system. Pay 60$, which would then have to pay 120.
Moreover, EA said that only temporarily disables lootbox, and after the adjustments will turn it back on. Do not buy Battelfront 2! If we lose now in the near future the game will be overrun lootbox!

But it's important to understand just how terribly unbalanced that progression system makes game-play. Virtually every single match comes down to who paid for more loot crates. Every match just leaves you feeling bad. If you lose, you realize there was virtually nothing you could have done to help prevent it. And if you win, you're not sure if it's because of your own ability or if your team just had more bonuses.

The entire game feels like it was built around the progression system. Games have just enough players to feel immersive, but few enough that you encounter the same people again and again and getting familiar with their power ups, which the game kindly shows you upon your death.

Communication is literally non-existent. There is no chat or command function. You have absolutely zero way of coordinating an attack or defense.

There are a lot of bugs. I've had sound drop out, run into invisible objects, gadgets not work properly, and occasionally get stuck in the environment.

Sad truth is, even if EA and DICE decide to remove loot crates altogether, the game is fundamentally broken. It lacks the depth that even the most basic FPS has. The game was designed around a monetization scheme, and it shows.

With MTX disabled, as logical damage control, you realize how much you actually have to grind in this game to get somewhere. It's a treadmill and you have to keep playing, since the progression is tied to upgrades, unlike Overwatch, where you get everything gameplay right from the start. So they create a powercreep and Veterans/players who simply spend more time, will be stronger by default and not by trheir skill alone.

Also very important, the lootboxes are currently disabled, since they don't wanna be the guys who offer gambling for kids on releaseday and save their precious sales. But P2W is still very present. You can still buy the Deluxe Edition, which gives you epic Star Card upgrades for $20 more and the P2W system was active the whole beta, they just turned it off before release. So all the whales could buy all the lootcrates they want and have a huge advantage now, while all the underequipped lowbies become cannonfodder to these people. There is no reset, people keep their progression and bought stuff.

This game is a disgrace and EA is a morally bankrupt company, preying on their gullible targetaudience who can be treated like dogs.

Firstly loot boxes take forever to get at around 2 hours per loot box. But they also give **** random loot, at which I keep on getting Starfighter and officer cards when all I play in my casual gameplay is assault.

Thus the extremely slow and uneven progression + the fact that BF2 do not have any Asian servers (so my lag will always be high) and combined twitch players with lower ping makes this a game of constant frustration.

This level of polish is very disappointing for a game which was touted as having amazing environments. It's a lot like Mass Effect Andromeda in this regard. It looks great in screenshots and scripted trailers that hide it's faults but is unplayable as a game.

The balance gives you no sense of accomplishment whatsoever because you cannot get good at this game. You can only just play it and leave the outcome up to RNG.

Despite the micro transaction system, I don't like Battlefront II because of these:
    1. Same skeleton animation system for all characters, and even for human-like characters it sucks so bad. Character movement is terrible and floating.

    2. Downgraded particle and flame effects comparing to Battlefront 2015.
    3. Anti-humanity flight control system from DICE since Battlefield 1942, and they never improve it. DICE should learn how to make a semi-flight-sim from Warthunder. Infinite Warfare did a much better job last year than DICE and I don't know why people gave them so much negative reviews just because it happened in space? I bet those Star Wars themed space flight simulators made in the 1990s are much better than DICE's games.
    4. Toy-like spaceship models. It seems like EA makes DICE to look after those stupid low performance Xbox scopion and Playstation consoles and "why not make those spacecrafts low-poly so the consoles can run at 4k 60fps".
    5. First-person and third-person switching is so badly made, DICE should learn how to make a first person kong-fu-martial game from Shadow Warrior 2.

That's all I hate about Battlefront 2. And I indeed think Battlefront 2015 is a much better game except it has less characters in game.

In all seriousness, its sad that a lot of people will buy this sham of a game regardless of the disgusting micro-transactions EA has decided to cram into it. The same people are also the reason why we now have all sorts of micro-transactions in $60 games in the first place. They are also responsible for encouraging the publishers to push for day one DLCs, content cut from the game to be released as DLCs, and other such disgusting practices in the past that others like us have to suffer for.

These practices need to stop now before they really go out of hand and destroy the gaming community. And what better way than to make a stand than with a Star Wars game?

The game's progression system is heavily influenced by chance and manipulates and encourages players to spend real life money for in-game advantages is:

    1) Not fun
    2) Not fair
    3) Disrespectful, and
    4) Clearly telling me that the creators/publisher prioritises money over integrity.

This feels like a free-to-play experience; when I pay a premium price for a game, I expect a premium experience.

I have to admit, while trying to progress, the system does feel like a prettier version of a slot machine. As progression is tied to randomised loot boxes, essentially micro-gambling, it feels cheap. And to have this variation of gambling in a Disney game is just simply not cool to put it lightly.

The game-play is fun when it isn't influenced by additional real life money.
To support the game in it's current state would degrade the gaming industry.
    Overall, a massive disappointment.

1- Microtransacciones...

The loot boxes give random stuff, so you arn't going to necessarily get the up grades that your character needs, or if you do get what your character needs, it may not be the powerful version as there are different rarities to items, which means you gotta keep grinding or buying more loot boxes. P2W aspects might still fully be in the game after they re-enable "the ability to purchase crystals in-game at a later date". People should NOT go out and buy the game just because of this statement by EA. A wait and see approach to the statement made is the best course of action at this time.

This game is fun, don't get me wrong but the inclusion of micro transactions and loot boxes just kills it. What was EA thinking on putting in pay to win aspects into this game. Horrible

No game should treat its consumer base like atm's, designing entire systems meant to exploit the psychology of players into being pressured to pay to get ahead. Shame on EA for ruining the Star Wars Brand name with this shameless cashgrab

Apart from the great Starfighter Assault mode Battlefront II is a mess of conflicting ideas, uneven mechanics and of course questionable monetization practices. DICE is facing long months of salvaging the game and the studio’s good name. [01/2018, p.32]

Even the tinsel of the Star Wars world cannot hide the silly story and the boring singleplayer gameplay, or the necessity to accumulate the credits in the crate hunting in multiplayer. Battlefront II pleases as a genuine shooter in the beautiful scenery, but EA should deserve a slap into the face for their mad progression system.

There's fun to be had, but for every step towards the Light Side, there's a foot stuck firmly in the Dark Side of bad design decisions. [Issue#269, p.52]
