    It took an hour to simply start the game. Disable antivirus (?), disable HDR in TV settings, start game in safe mode..
    DX12 does not work. Game closes without any error. Have to delete game settings files and start game in safe mode after changing mode to DX12.

    Poor, very poor console port. Not playable for almost 2 weeks since the premiere (very poor performance even on still quite powerfull rig - i7 9700K and GTX 1080 with 16GB 3200 GHz). Simply a bad joke from Rockstar.

The single-player game seems to work OK, but I only played it for a few minutes. I bought this for the co-op multiplayer, which is a steaming pile of garbage.     Where to begin    I'm not even sure where to begin. There are just so many things wrong with this game. I guess I will start with the positive. The graphics are gorgeous. The single-player game seems to work OK, but I only played it for a few minutes. I bought this for the co-op multiplayer, which is a steaming pile of garbage. It is too bad too because this game has so much potential.

    Where to begin with the negatives. I'm only going to go into the top few. There are just too many to count. First, the interface is horrible. One of the poorest designs I have seen in my life and I've been playing PC games since the mid-1980s. It is just a confusing mess that makes no sense. And there is no guide to help you learn things. Worse still is the networking code. It is some of the buggiest pre-alpha code I have ever come across. Good luck getting it to work. My three friends and I all have problems constantly. About to finish a mission and reap rewards? Not any longer! You'll get dropped at the last second and get nothing for all your effort. Sometimes, you won't even get dropped, you'll just not get any rewards with no explanation. Lastly, there is no system built into the game to stop hackers. It is a cheaters paradise. Jerks constantly do stupid things that mess up your game (when the buggy networking code isn't, which is rare).

    I was so excited to see this game when it came out and so disappointed when it arrived. It has been out now for several months and there have been several patches, but it really hasn't improved. It is still a buggy mess that is plagued by constant cheating.    … Expand

    Sorry runs like a dogs dinner have spent hours trying to get it to work properly...its exhausting stuff.
    To add insult to injury my steam copy of gta5 is also broken since the rockstar launcher started hijacking it (15fps). Feel robbed but will change my score if they can fix it :(

    I beat the game on my PS4 PRO and was excited for the PC version. I was very disappointed, I couldn't play the game since it isn't optimized yet. I have no sound when playing single player and the game constantly crashes. Wait until 2020 to buy the game. I have requested a refund already.

    Day 1: Errors prevented the launcher from even getting the game started.
    Day 2: A new launcher and game update and still the game won't start. Day 3: Again a new launcher and game update, this time the rockstar services are reported as offline. Still can't play.    Buggiest piece of sh|t I've ever tried to play. Here we are on the 6th day after release and I still can't play it properly.

    Day 3: Again a new launcher and game update, this time the rockstar services are reported as offline. Still can't play.
    Day 4: Yet another launcher update, this time the game goes in. I get a few minutes in here and there before it freezes (hard lock?) on me and I have to restart the process.
    Day 5...still can't get more than a few minutes in
    Day 6...let's see how it goes but I'm not holding my breath, cockstar are obviously not seeing this as too important since we have to wait a fair amount of time for updates and communication from them is at ZERO!

    I'll change my score when I can actually play but right now I'd get more fun watching paint dry and without all of the pain of having to struggle with it to try and get it running.    … Expand

    Ridículo a quantidade de bugs. Meu jogo rodava dando um monte de freezadas mas agora nem abrir quer mais. O launcher da Rockstar é horrível, tive que pedir reembolso....devia ter continuado a jogar no ps4 mesmo, triste isso.

    I never played a shooter game with mouse cursor hanging around untill now. I was going to return the game just realized I spent 2 hours trying to fix the mouse cursor. For 2 hours its just 1min of actually playing the game

    It's a shame, I can't open the game, the launcher closes more than 24 hours and Rockstar doesn't even give a satisfaction to its customers.
    The game is amazing, but ROCKSTAR is a SHAME.

    A game that waited more than a year to get a pc port is full of bugs and after the newest patch won't even run,can't start over the desktop icon. Game as a game is great tho.

    Неиграбельно. Первые 3 дня я просто не мог её запустить. Помогло лишь обновление БИОСа, вышедшего 7 (SIC!) ноября. Сейчас же постоянные вылеты. Рефанд.

Но, видимо, Rockstar слишком бедная студия, чтобы иметь в своем штате (или на аутсорсе) людей, занимающихся проверкой работоспособности игры, которую на ПК ждут сотни тысяч (если не миллионы) людей.Неплохо бы нанять хотя бы одного (!) тестера, перед тем, как запускать игру на ПК.     The game is poorly optimized and has a handful of bugs unfortunately, it's a shame that Rockstar Games released the so awaited PC version in its current state, i had to update my motherboard BIOS to be able to run the game and even so it runs like **** and have a lot of bugs. Not worth it right now IMO, wait for a few months so Rockstar releases patches fixing the game, Right now is unplayable

    RDR 2 is possibly one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen.

    An Xbox One X has a GPU that is roughly on par with an overclocked AMD RX580 and it can run the game at native 4K (3840x2160) at an almost rocks solid 30FPS. An Nvidia RTX 2080Ti is is generally 144-173% faster than an AMD RX580 in open world games with high simulation complexity (such as GTA V and The Witcher III),    RDR 2 is possibly one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen.

    An Xbox One X has a GPU that is roughly on par with an overclocked AMD RX580 and it can run the game at native 4K (3840x2160) at an almost rocks solid 30FPS.

    An Nvidia RTX 2080Ti is is generally 144-173% faster than an AMD RX580 in open world games with high simulation complexity (such as GTA V and The Witcher III), according to UserBenchark.

    Of course, consoles are closed systems that are specifically designed for gaming so developers can use the available resources there more effectively, but Red Dead Redemption 2 also has low level API on PC (Vulkan), so the game should scale relatively similarly to the example above.

    Which means that even if we are just counting with 100% faster performance instead of 144-173% (so we are very conservative), the game should run at a locked 60 FPS on equivalent to console settings (with maybe some slight dips to 58-59).

    If we are not that conservative though and if were are counting with 144-173% performance scaling, the game should run between 73 and 81 FPS, with maybe slight dips to 69-70 FPS.

    But instead, it runs roughly at 40-45 FPS and can dip even down to 28 FPS.

    Easily the most boring game I've ever played. I love third person action RPG's and though it would be similar to Witcher 3. It's so incredible slow at the beginning. Two shooting action scenes after about two hours of game play. And the shooting game play is boring as heck also. Controls are so clunky. Characters are also boring and annoying. Everybody praises this game and i don't know why...

Attention to details and realism is good when it's provided not in exchange of fun. This game is mediocre at best. Think twice about a puchase, it seems very, very overrated.     While the game is beautiful at times with amazing detail and plenty of things to do, its just unfortunate the technical team over at rockstar isn't as skilled as their art team. Its a console port that forces you to get a new cpu because optimization wasn't as important as making sure the minigame of poker was intentionally coded to make you lose. UI wasn't even looked at, there isn't aWhile the game is beautiful at times with amazing detail and plenty of things to do, its just unfortunate the technical team over at rockstar isn't as skilled as their art team. Its a console port that forces you to get a new cpu because optimization wasn't as important as making sure the minigame of poker was intentionally coded to make you lose. UI wasn't even looked at, there isn't a single menu that houses the rest of the menus so each menu has its own individual hot key. The UI is massive and totally counter intuitive to keyboard and mouse users. If you want to change a hot key you need to scroll through pages and pages of other keys. The mouse UI sometimes completely breaks and the only way to use the menus again is to use the keyboard. but at least your horse poops every time you dismount. such detail, much game design. What would be amazing is if a studio made a game this detailed and beautiful but actually cared about the consumer more than just seeing them as potential micro-transactions. That way we would get a masterpiece not ruined by bugs, crashes and bad optimization just because fixing bugs and poor optimization cost more to fix than they bring in money.

    Also the trigger hoops the game forces you to jump through are so ridiculous, they are evident at every corner and it culminates in me being unable to even finish the epilogue, I just stand there in place glitched out. If they wanted to make a game on rails they should skip the trying to make an open world.

    I really wish the rockstar that made san andreas still existed, so that we would get a worth wile satirization of the piss poor state that current rockstar devolved into

    final note, as someone who lives in a desert other than the mojave or sonora it is annoying how over represented the saguaro cactus is. The cactus is found in one desert in arizona and that is it, but in this game it's in every desert except the one based on the mojave. It's also annoying there is a massive section of the map covered in saguaro cactus that isn't even used in the storyline, when the game cannot push a stable 60fps on a 3440x1440 monitor in the parts of the map you do use.    … Expand

    Get told by EPIC that no refund because in game time is longer than 2 hours (because I literally spent that time trying to set the game up)
    Write a rage email to EPIC telling them to use the 59EUR on a long piece of rope... for one-time use by all EPIC staff

    As always, PC version of a game is made just to earn extra money. Even though it released 1 year after the console version, the game is poorly optimized, full of bugs and so on. Clearly Rockstar don't care about PC versions of their games.

    I5 6500 has 100% overload. In cutscenes. As result with 1080ti on medium quality: min fps 0.1, medium 64 fps, max 118. And it's unplayable.

    There are so many issues with this game. First of all, like many other's I had launch issues. That was already annoying enough. After 30 minutes of fixing the crash issue, I opened the game and the resolution was in 1920 by 1080 and I have a 3840 by 2160. So all I have to do is simply change it in the settings, right? After clicking no the menu would appear. This took another 15 minutes since it was so buggy. Finally I got the resolution right. Now I have finally launched the game and began playing. Oh wait lets make the mouse cursor move around the screen at all times with no way of removing it. Another fun issue is the settings menu itself. It is extremely temperamental and navigating it with a mouse and keyboard is a nightmare. This whole process would be so much better if it was simply on steam and I didn't need epic games and the rockstar launcher. I paid a good 80 dollars for the special edition and I can't even enjoy the game. Rockstar please fix this buggy garbage.… Expand

    Would love to give feedback on this game, but I can't even finish a single mission without it crashing. Happily going to pirate games from Rockstar in the future, because they're obviously happy to take my money and produce and abortion like this.

    Well i startet the Singleplayer then, it was playable, but with so many freezes and **** Ruined the atmosphere.     The ooooold error. I get disconnected randomly, either directly when joining, on the way to a mission, moments before finishing the mission, while hunting. It's just a pain and you have to start over again & again.

    Opening ports did not helped, open NAT-Type with DMZ-Host also changed nothing. We even tried different Routers (7 different ones in price span of 150-350€) - no changes. Even though the support tries to tell me the problem is on my side.

    I had this in GTA5 already and still have it, now in RDR aswell, so i think it's more a R* thing :)

    Charging people the full price for a 1 year old game just ported to pc is disappointing enough already. All the errors i had/have made me refund this piece of "Greed Money making machine"    … Expand

    Yes, for this I collected a computer and honestly bought the game in the official launcher, so that it does not run. Bravo Rockstar, the worst launcher in history, like the failed launch on PC!

    Сраный, лагающий и постоянно вылетающий кал! Я сотню раз за 4 часа игры пожалел, что качал это дерьмо 6 часов. Не задумываясь бы вернул свои деньги. Графика нулевая, интерактивность нулевая, управление кривое.

    Well, the game is : Not optimised. I can't play with a GeForce GTX 950M and an i5 Core.

    There is crash every time on the online (every 30 seconds) so wi can't play. It's "rockstar server" so, Rockstar, buy your servers !! You are the best but RDR2 Pc is litteraly a **** !

    History is very very very very… cool. But, it's so laggy so it's not immersive.

    Rockstar Launcher keeps crashing, game is very badly optimized, the Denuvo DRM is probably causing a lot of problems like it did in other games. Honestly this is just pathetic and sad, why screw over your paying customers??? This should have released on Steam for a stable launch, without your garbage Rockstar Launcher and without intrusive DRM Denuvo causing problems.

Wait until it comes out on steam so you don't have to buy it on Rockstar's **** and ugly launcher and maybe by then they will sell a finished product, not some triple-A, EA, Activision, scum-lord garbage game. TLDR: Yet another AAA title rushed for an Easy payday, do not buy until it comes out on steam so you don't have to deal with game-breaking immersion-breaking lag spikes.… Expand

    The acting is incredible. The views are stunning. You really get a feel you are in the right kind of cowboy fantasy. They ruin it by trying to micromanage every aspect.     Its just a hassle to play that breaks the immersion evey time it gets going cos it has to tell you what button to press to interact in its one of many 100s of action scenes; because its absoutley clear the guys making the different senarios had no fecking idea either. And those action scenese arent like the witcher; thought out and planned.

    Nope. A few hours into your realistic western gameplay you will have depopulated half of america. but if you smack a guys teeth out in abar you are gonna get railed on.

    And the saves dont work properly.

And I know it's not the developer's fault, it's the publisher's and shareholders fault for forcing them to release an unpolished, broken game that coulve needed a couple more months in developement. What even is the point in preordering games anymore, if the games are gonna be unplayable at launch anyways?

Looks like there was a conscious decision to release the game in such raw state to meet the release date.     After starting a new campaign, the game would periodically freeze for several seconds which completely ruined the gameplay experience.

    Game literally won't even launch and is literally unplayable. I've tried everything in their support page and more, my drivers are up to date, I disabled my antivirus, I updated Windows, etc, nothing works. Rockstar had plenty of time to release this game, it was bad enough they waited this long for the PC release, but to release it this broken this much later is no excuse.

    this game is broken as hell. RDR Online disconnect every 2 min and this mouse cursor is always shown in game, no fix is working for me.

    Sorry but i cant play the game anymore.

    Not sure what the Critics were drinking. They gave a 94 while us Users averaged about ZERO. The game in its present state is pretty well unplayable.

    An absorbing tale that will test your machine and tear ducts. A game that did not suffer from being brought to PC. RDR2 is worth overcoming all the shortcomings, since it is one of the best games of the decade. [Issue#300]

    My biggest warning to anyone considering purchasing RDR2 on PC is that you need to have patience when you set it up. Take the time to go through each graphics option, compare your performance on Vulkan vs. DirectX 12, and tailor the game to your specs. Once you have the game tuned, there’s no better way to experience it than on PC.
