    As an original 80s gamer, Rad Rodgers hits all the happy places. It has elements of the perfect classic platformer, sidelong references to my favorite old games, but still has the advantages of a modern, original game. Rad Rodgers is fantastically fun, and I’m looking forward to adding the next episode to my collection.

    New mechanics, some tweaks to the level design, and more unique enemy AI would go a long way to making this one of those games you absolutely need to check out.

    Rad Rodgers is a tautly constructed, well-paced game that doesn't outstay its welcome. Although I grew tired of the Pixelverse gimmick and wasn't always on board with the game's humor, I enjoyed its vibrant art, action and level design. Whether you're a platforming wizard or just a casual fan on the genre, Rad Rodgers will keep you entertained.

    If games were rated strictly on audio and visuals, then Rad Rodgers would be a ten out of ten. Unfortunately, the gameplay itself doesn’t do quite enough to live up to the same standards.

    Rad Rodgers is a familiar yet satisfying platformer that doesn't always hit all the high notes, but it does so often enough to feel like a hit for anyone looking for a reminder of the way things were when it comes to these kinds of games.

    At the end of the day, Rad Rodgers: World One is a cute first taste of a throwback platformer. The game is not particularly long or deep, but it's an enjoyable romp. It's fun to play and has solid level design and enjoyable mechanics, but the nostalgic throwback theme is wasted on generic foes and settings. Fans of old-school platformers will find a lot to like here, including a number of jokes clearly designed for them, but newcomers might find it too generic.

    It may not be the second coming of retro gaming or an outright classic, but it does still have the potential. If Interceptor Entertainment can make this a success, I have a feeling that the eventual World Two and beyond will iron out all of the bugs and turn this adventure into a must play for old-school fans.

    Rad es un niño amante de los juegos de video, tiene una vida normal, va a la escuela, tiene una madre que le regaña por jugar mucho, y seRad es un niño amante de los juegos de video, tiene una vida normal, va a la escuela, tiene una madre que le regaña por jugar mucho, y se acuesta tarde disfrutando de las experiencias que afronta en su consola favorita. Con lo que Rad no contaba era que por una situación del destino, el mismo entraría al mundo virtual, y seria parte de un videojuego el mismo.

    Rad Rodgers es un juego de plataformas, que rinde tributo a juegos de hace tiempo, en los mismos que se inspira para traernos esta experiencia de disparos y saltos. Títulos como Commander Keen y Conker son referencia de partida para Slipgate Studios, mientras que nosotros también notamos una remembranza palpable a Metal Slug con el pasar de los minutos; encontrando coleccionables, cambiando de armas cuando encontramos algunas diferentes en cada nivel, hablando con personajes que nos otorgan mejoras o ventajas y tratando de encontrar la manera de llegar a estancias de apariencia secreta.

    La aventura de Rad comienza cuando su consola cobra vida, y un vórtice lo transporta a su televisor donde nuestro pequeño protagonista se vuelve la estrella de su propia aventura. El y Dusty (la consola) se verán ante desafíos llenos de acción, con muchos enemigos que enfrentar y niveles por descubrir, con diálogos muy divertidos - y un toque vulgares, cinemáticas cargadas de humor, y un acabado estético muy bueno.

    Cada pantalla se siente un mundo distinto, todas muestran un elaborado nivel de detalle, con colores vibrantes, y no se nota algún patrón repetitivo en cada uno de los ambientes que se han intentado recrear. La flora se mueve con el viento, el fuego tiene un acabado muy bueno, los saltos van desde simples brinquitos para niños hasta algunas plataformas inclinadas-resbaladizas super complicadas donde el timing y la reacción van a ponernos a prueba.

    Controlando a Rad, iremos haciendo saltos para avanzar o llegar a las distintas zonas, con la jugabilidad de siempre en cada titulo plataformero, saltando, disparando y/o utilizando a Dusty para un ataque de melee (parecido al manotazo al suelo de Donkey Kong). Las mecánicas se sienten bien, con algunos problemas a la hora de bajar de las plataformas; siempre que saltamos y Rad se ve en la imposibilidad de completar el salto, Dusty intentara aferrarse (por defecto) a la saliente para asi completar la maniobra, esto juega una mala pasada cuando queremos avanzar hacia abajo, pues cuando intentamos bajar (saltando y mirando hacia abajo) Dusty se intentara aferrar a la plataforma de la cual queremos bajar, subiéndonos de nuevo a dicha plataforma.

    La acción en cada pantalla no se limita al uso de de Rad, en algunas partes de cada nivel hará falta alguna plataforma o parte del suelo, la cual nos engancha a un mini-juego donde controlamos a Dusty; aquí, tenemos que maniobrar con Dusty por angostos laberintos llenos de enemigos o elementos que pueden dañar a nuestra alocada consola viviente. Cuando llegamos al final del minijuego, y le completamos con éxito, la parte del nivel que faltaba aparecerá y podremos seguir adelante.

    Siempre vamos a topar con armas distintas, lo cual le da un poco de variedad al juego, muchos de los personajes con los que topamos en cada partida, nos darán rifles lasers, ametralladoras, bombas, y hasta una minigun por comentar algunas. Estos NPCs también pueden darnos gemas (parte de los coleccionables de cada nivel), y corazones para la vitalidad entre otros. Casi siempre estos singulares NPCs tienen algo que contar, comentarios con humor sobre su irrisoria vida personal o algún consejo de vida.

    Rad Rodgers nos propone tres distintas dificultades: Fácil, Normal y Difícil, la diferencia entre el nivel más sencillo y el complicado es muy grande, si decidimos jugarle al vergas en la forma complicada, podemos recibir un daño 150% más fuerte, y se mueven con un 125% mas veloces. También fue bueno toparnos con una versión para niños en las opciones (que oculta la sangre y quita el lenguaje para adultos), pues muchos de los diálogos tienen alguna mala palabra o comentarios que son meramente para un público mayor de edad, asi que esta opcion para los pequeños fuer agradable, y más, que el juego tiene un appeal muy llamativo para los pequeñines al ser un niño el protagonista.

    Rad Rodgers es un título recomendado, quienes crecieron entre plataformas, saltos y disparos, la van a pasar muy bien entre uno que otro guiño al pasado recorriendo los diferentes niveles en busca de los super-escondidos collecionables. Con una historia original, protagonistas divertidos, jugabilidad amigable para chicos y desafiante para grandes, Rad Rodgers hará nos dará sus buenas horas de diversión.

    You have a gun for shooting things, and dusties smarth mouth to keep oyu laughing…
    This game is full of crude humor, though there are parental controls to take care of this…
    But the humor of this game is probably the best part..
    The rest of this game just feels like one giant chore
    This game features 8 main levels, 3 optional pogo chasing levels, and a boss battle…
    And all 8 of these levels for the most part look and feel identical…
    there is no variety here which ultimately makes this game feel like the longest 4 hours of your life
    The goal of each level is to collect 4 shards to unlock a gate and move on..
    This game is at its best when it sticks to straight forward platforming…
    These moments of optional exploration with different guns and hidden homes fileld of smart talking creatures are the best..
    The platforming and shooting can feel satisfying..
    But when this game is bad its bad.. and its bad when it has you playing as dusty in hhis mini game of avoiding lasers and enemies to collect items to put a platform into the world or unlock and new path and the game is bad when wants to feel like more of a Metroidvania sending you in dozens of different directions trying to find these pieces…
    I wouldn’t have minded these moments as much though if levels actually felt or looked different from one another…
    They all feel and play the same….
    So these less than linear moments feel like an axiety filled drag rather than a new form of level to overcome…
    The level design here is just mediocre…
    Rad Rodgers: World One doesn’t have me excited for World Two and is probably a series Ill skip in the future

The sad thing is that Slipgate studios (interceptor entertainment) failed on what’s supposed to be esencial in a platformer ,and that is the jumping, aiming and shooting mechanics. And for a game released on the 2010’s that is unforgivable.This game is poorly executed . Instead of the foul language, schoolyard jokes and bunch of useless characters they should have concentrated on what matters more. The last levels are endless and absurdly difficult.They just threw a bunch of mechanisms (laser totems and sawblades) for you to rage. It’s a rageathon.It’s not that you would not be able to finish it ,but you’ll have to be extremely patient to get to the end, and probably you’ll quit even before that.… Expand
