  • Summary: Quest of Dungeons is a turn based dungeon crawler game, a roguelike featuring a good old 16-bit retro artistic look. An evil Dark Lord has stolen all the light, so your mission is to enter his lair and defeat him.     While I may not suggest buying this title in comparison to others, if you've already played all that you feel like playing, but are looking for a decent time killer with an RPG flavor, Quest of Dungeons may be worth checking out.

    Between the permadeath aspect, the random floor layouts of the dungeon and the smooth gameplay with retro style graphics, Quest of Dungeons is a blast to repeatedly play through.

    Just another faceless, generic roguelike that feels as if its creator was going through a checklist. Time rounds – check. Randomized dungeons and weapons – check. Permanent death – check.

    If you're lazy like me, and you want to eat food AND play a turn based RPG at the same time, Quest of dungeons is perfect! I can munch on myIf you're lazy like me, and you want to eat food AND play a turn based RPG at the same time, Quest of dungeons is perfect! I can munch on my beefy-5-layer burrito while simultaneously pointing and clicking on bad guys and collecting loot! Imagine the most generic dungeon crawler possible, and you've probably imagined something similar to Quest of Dungeons. A loot-hunt, a maze of randomly spawned rooms, baddies that drop gold, hooded merchants who will buy everything you have without question ... Quest of Dungeons just might be a dungeon crawler in it's purest form. This game accomplishes it's intent save for a few exceptions:
    1- The bosses are slightly imbalanced throughout the game. On the first level, they will one-hit kill you, on the seventh, you will one-shot them from across the room. Somewhere in the middle you will encounter bosses at about the right level.
    2- The randomized levels have a chance of ruining your game. I finally made it to the last level on my third play-through, and what was immediately behind door #1? THE FINAL BOSS! I discovered later that the final floor has it's own unique bad guys and rooms to explore. So beware, lest the final boss is at the foot of the stairs.    … Expand

    probably the best game to play while waiting on queue for another game, the controls can be a bit confusing at the beginning, not because itsprobably the best game to play while waiting on queue for another game, the controls can be a bit confusing at the beginning, not because its confusing its more because its kinda new... i guess. moving to another subject, the game is easy until you find a god damn boss fight its almost impossible to win them if you don't use all your regen suplies, and even like that you are probably gonna die, so i think it will be nice that the boss's could have a damage level by the floor(stage) the player is(i know the boss's ar a bit random but please David Amador (developer of the game) if your reading this please try work a bit on them (i could just tell him this on steam since we are "friends" but like this is way more cool)).
    To end the review just a warning to those who are gonna buy and play the game, you will fail... A LOT so be prepare for that, the moments you are super op but you don't have healt regen.... well you sir are gonna get f*cked... so where another thing to Ask the developer do an checkpoint option or a "would you like to save the game where option" because it get really frustrating!!!!!

    +Gameplay: Turn based dungeon crawler - The world is randomly generated - You have to kill monsters and Bosses while progressing from chamber to chamber , leveling up , acquiring new armor+shields+weapons(No visual change, only makes you more powerful) and skills like an attack that make the monsters paralysed or an earth quake. 4 Different characters that change the gameplay. Oh and Permadeath Suckers! The bad side of the gameplay can be seen in easy and normal difficulty where you can abuse the turn based system by waiting or turning around in circles like a jackass in order to gain your health back and also the spells cooldown. You can actually still do the spells cooldown in even in hard and hell difficulties.
    Storyline: "An unspecific evil Dark Lord has stolen all the light, so your mission is to enter his lair and defeat him. That's it, now go get him."
    +Soundtrack: Nice descent soundtrack that can get a bit repetetive.
    -customization: Non Visual, all the different weapons and armors just makes you more powerful.
    +Enemies: Different enemies and bosses . most of them attack with melee while some others attack from distance.
    +Steam Achievements: Most of them are achievable
    Difficulty 4 : Easy (finished the game in it) Normal (Same) , Hard and hell .
    Levels(Floors): 7 levels.
    +Characters: 4 : 1/Warrior : The melee based class. 2/Wizard : Mage ranged based class. 3/Assassin(Most powerful class) : Archer ranged based class. 4/Shaman : a mixture of ranged and melee class. Apperently he can learn to use swords like the warrior wich will probably make him more powerfull in melee attack, i actually never found the spell to learn to do that so untill then he is the weakest character.
