   2 new episodes, loads of new weapons and ammo types (plus all the weapons and powerups from the previous expansion), better & brighter map2 new episodes, loads of new weapons and ammo types (plus all the weapons and powerups from the previous expansion), better & brighter map design, and loads more music with almost every level having it's own track. Armagon was excellent for all the new stuff it added and this one continues to build on it. If these two missions packs were released today they'd be $30 DLC (or a brand-new game considering how CoD is). Considering how bad the last episode of the original Quake was I'd consider either of these mission packs better than the original for their outstanding map design and gameplay improvements.… Expand

   I have to say I did like this one juuust a little more than Quake and Mission Pack 1.

   With only two new realms this time (but of course, no halt on the action) you're given new weapons and enmies, again, including LAVA nail ammo. MULTI Rocket and grenade launcher, and a powerful blast of lighting from the Thunder Gun. And of course, a show down with a mighty mythological creature of legend.… Expand

My enjoyment of this expansion was diminished by a few infuriating traps which killed me practically instantly, which essentially made memorizing these spots critical... which wasn't fun. Nevertheless, it was still a decent expansion with a few memorable levels and a brutal final boss. IMPORTANT: This mission pack is now included for free with Quake!… Expand

   I've bought this every time it was released but I only got around to replaying it recently, and I have to say... this is poopoo. There are a few interesting architectural features here or there but the majority of both episodes is just one-textured "Pitfall" hallways with one trap to jump through after another. When it comes to the fights, you either get locked in "elevator sections" or an egregious misunderstanding of the mechanics of the game, beginning with the second level where you fight a shambler that's perfectly locked in a cage so as to not hit you, and then minutes later fight a shambler in a totally bare cubic (one-texture, of course) room before even getting the SNG or thunderbolt. The expansion gets considerably weirder from there, with various enemies that generously could be called "super" versions of a handful of the existing enemies and various guns that could similarly generously be called super versions of the original weapons. The two new single player powerups are a belt that makes you jump higher and what is essentially a "partial" pentagram of protection. There are few standouts, including the hell spawn (a spawn that can clone itself, annoying but at least somewhat original).
   
   Frankly, while some valiant attempts were made here or there (shout out to the composer), this is overall a worse expansion compared to the first one in every way and hardly compares to the more popular (and free) Quake total conversion mods. I don't even like the Machinegames episodes but I think I'd still rather play them than this.… Expand

   Con esto queda demostrado que ID Software no supo nunca hacer buenas expansiones. Ni con Wolfenstein 3d, y ni con Doom, por lo que misCon esto queda demostrado que ID Software no supo nunca hacer buenas expansiones. Ni con Wolfenstein 3d, y ni con Doom, por lo que mis expectativas estuvieron bajas con esta expansion de Quake... y acerté. Al igual que la anterior, no hay una mejora real en la formula, y ademas las nuevas municiones para las armas rompen por completo el juego, en especial la municion alterna para el lanzacohetes. Casi siempre tendras la municion llena y dispara constantemente 4 o 5 misiles que revientan a casi cualquier enemigo. Incluso el jefe final. Ademas no entiendo porque no incluyeron el contenido de la expansion anterior para aprovecharse en el diseño de niveles de esta segunda parte...
   Al menos es mejor que las expansiones del Wolfenstein 3d....… Expand
