While it may be missing the visual improvements that came with the RTX version of the game, the quality of life additions, amount of content, and jaw-dropping new campaign make this remaster a must-play for fans new and old.

Quake II Enhanced is the definitive, improved and updated version of the second iteration of idSoftware, one of its most important historical IPs belonging to another generation. An accessible, unique price that could be useful for anyone, especially newbies, above all ever-enthusiasts and those looking for a unique experience. To have everywhere, even on a toaster.
  4. Presenting the unforgettable game of my childhood as a complete experience, Quake II Remaster is a near-perfect package. With a price tag of 10 dollars, it is a game that anyone interested in the FPS genre should try.

Quake 2 Enhanced Edition is an exceptional remaster, turning a beloved classic into one of the better old-school shooters available for what's essentially a steal.

For me, it was a great introduction to Quake II. The PC version, I mean. It’s an oppressively brown shooter, but it still carries the speedy, lightweight combat that makes older FPS games still pop today. The changes that Nightdive brought in for the remaster make it even more enjoyable and accessible. It may not have the same experimental charm as Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, but it more than makes up for it with its tight and gory gunfights.

Quake 2 was amazing 26 years ago, and it is still a lot of fun - even if its age shows quite a bit. The remaster is superb, with new content, crossplay, tons of options and meaningful upgrades under the hood. So if you want to experience a true classic in id Software's history or simply have a taste for kick-ass retro action, this is the version to get.

I read its a free upgrade if you own the original, well at least I have to give them that. You can tickle your nostalgia with it in 120 FPS sure, but actually seriously playing it.

The games size is not even 5 gigs. With all the campaigns the stuffed into it! That tells you it s **** lazy eye cancer game without even good res textures. And this gets praised as a "the definition of a good remaster" by Ron in the reviews? Seriously they do not even call it a remaster themselves because its NOT it. It looks better but it still looks incredibly bad and not in any way comparable to any decent looking game, it does not have to be "modern" looking but this is just painful to look at. They did the minimum amount of work and just stuffed everything that was already made with one new campaign into the game.

This is not a nice looking remake/remaster with DOOM Eternal style graphics and modern gameplay. Its a nostalgia eye cancer game with outdated everything. Outdated graphics, outdated boring gameplay. I can not imagine anyone having actually fun playing though all the campains it offers, as its the same boring AF gameplay from AGES ago. Maybe in coop 1 point for that.

I am also pretty sure there are open source versions of various quakes out there that feature better graphics, raytracing and stuff out there.
