This game used to be good, overkill ruined the game with the most recent update adding microtransactions. Shame on you overkill. I regret paying as much as I have for the DLC in this game.

Developers are just pure greed at this point, i personally would recommend avoiding anything they make or are associated with.

they turned a fun game on its head and just made a paid game pay2win, a game that already has tons of dlc

A once great game absolutely ruined by micro-transactions. Developers have just decided to milk what is left of the community (the people who make this game great) and everyone has had enough. Buy this game if you fancy having Overkill make a complete mug of you...such a shame, I loved this game once.

I have 500+ hours in this game. I used to love it. But with the most recent update all the guns have been nerfed to **** or buffed to the point of insanity. Not to mention the micro-transactions, which the devs PROMISED wouldn't be in the game in the first place! And since these micro transactions involve stat boosts the game is now P2W. **** you Overkill.

It started out with the praise of fans and reviewers alike as one of the most innovative multiplayer games in recent years. This was proof that a small studio could create something that could change the gaming landscape. So many games have tried to recreate the same magic and have failed to do so.

However, all good things must come to an end. Starbreeze Studios AB has proven it is entirely possible to take a game that is a huge monetary success and absolutely drive it into the ground. With the introduction of micro-transactions as a "thank you" for all of the success, the community as a whole is understandably upset and appalled. That is probably the nicest way one could put it.

I've seen a lot of outrage over shortsighted decisions in the gaming community just within the last ten years alone and quite frankly this is one of the most unanimous attempts at communicating with a developer I have seen in quite some time. It is clear: The community is not OK with the direction that the franchise is taking and they are seeing that Starbreeze quite literally sees them as money farms rather than as their long-term fans.

The micro-transactions which were implemented allow for players willing to spend money to get skins for their guns which would give them a competitive advantage over players that had already spent over $200 on the game and were not wanting to spend more on micro-transactions which do not even add any additional gameplay or depth element to the game. To put things bluntly: The micro-transactions didn't improve the game in any way, shape, or form. Instead, they took away from some of the difficulty of the game which admittingly was rather shallow to begin with.

There has been absolutely zero communication from Starbreeze Studios AB or by Overkill in regards to these decisions and actually taking the input provided by the community. The fact that in 48 hours there was no official statement on it is quite disgusting. We are nearly a week separated from the start of the introduction of the micro-transactional elements and neither the developers nor Starbreeze has taken even a single step towards reconciliation with their fans.

It has become rather obvious that the issue is greed. There are a large number of fans which speculate that Starbreeze is merely trying to extract as much money off of the franchise so they can fuel a huge shift towards a mobile market where there is less of a need to offer a solid gaming experience and more weight is placed on making a large number of smaller transactions to get those playing the games to invest money before they can even tell whether they are going to like the game.

Payday 2 has been harmed during this whole process. At this point enough players have paid for the micro-transactions to make undoing the damage impossible; they are already implemented and players already have them. Taking them away could open up legal complications from those which have spent money regardless of whether it was to see just how broken the micro-transactions are or to actually get ahead in the game. It has become clear that neither Starbreeze Studios AB or Overkill have any interest in fixing the issue or reconciling with their fans. The game is going to dwindle in the number of players actively playing it and the gameplay is already stale at this point since missions will become painfully simple with higher enough (or in some cases low enough) stats.

Probably the worst game I ever played. I really cannot recommend this game any less. We have put up with a lot of bull crap over the years. Broken and delayed promises. Shovelware dlc. And a whole host of other things. But this really takes the cake. Uninstalling and never playing again. Hope overkill either changes or dies.

And now OVERKILL despite saying they would not add micro-transactions they went back on their word and added steam market micro-transactions for in-game weapon skins, with similar model to TF2 and CS:GO keys and crates, but the skins actually give stats bonuses. The items are not necessary, but this change opens a whole new avenue for them to gain more profit with bad quality content and milk the players even more, and has many flaws like getting a random skin for a weapon that a DLC is necessary. It's made to profit, nothing more than that, no compromise with quality whatsoever. They essentially lied to all their faithful customers who supported them for so long. Expand

While this used to be a new and innovative game when it was released. I cannot say the same for it now and its current design and reward choices. Ideally the development and publishing teams will listen to player feedback and curb some of the customer exploitative parts of this game. However until that happens I can only say to stay away from this product.

A microtransaction system that thoughtfully adds that my weapons can once again be made useful again if I pay Overkill more money for separate skins on separate guns to regain the same prior usefulness which has been recently removed.

Buy skins to return the gun back to a semi-functional state. Use vanilla guns and good luck hitting the ground. Thanks Overkill. Because 28+ DLC packs at 6 Euros a pop wasn't enough for you.
The final nail in this mouldering coffin is that the core developers promised us a few years ago that microtransactions would never be added.
It's even more funny now because Overkill has started retroactively deleting any record of those statements they can get their hands on. Unfortunately for them, Reddit has backups of EVERYTHING.

This backlash is an incredibly good thing. I'm pleasantly surprised how vigilant this community is - and as far as I'm concerned, this is the correct way to respond against any other developer and publisher that wants to take advantage of their community.

The game is not bad and can actually be a lot of fun, but the devs sure did pull an "F you" to the community which they seemed to "cherish and take care of".

They provided free heists and also did some paid DLC to keep the money flowing, this was ok for a time. THEN... the latest updates just broke the game, and they added microtransactions (which they said would never do). Now

The developer for this game broke promises they made early on regarding their business model, specifically that microtransactions within the game (for items, weapons, unlockers, et cetera) would never be a part of the game. The Crimefest update goes against the original promise and what the community values and appreciates the game to be.

Never lie to your customers, hopefully it never pays off. But just in case you get away with it here is my 2 cents, This game is half finished on basically all platforms its been released on with a clear focus on rather making DLC than fixing it, and finally going back on their word. You're welcome Overkill, enjoy my meta vote.

Don't give those greedy f**ckers any more money. They're milking everything they can out of this game before the player base leaves due to them treating us horribly. "There will be no micro-transactions in PAYDAY 2." Right. So i guess this game should now be called Pay2Day. Since all you do in this game is pay.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
