To OVK, you may benefit alot in the short-term from microtransaction but I am absolutely certain that in the long run, this greedy move of yours will definitely hurt you in the long term. One day when it starts becoming obvious that it was a short-sighted move for quick profit and you decide to remove it, we will all be gone and it will be too late.

Game was, and still is amazing at its core. But overkill went greedy and screwed the community.
Now all i can say is pay2win, microtransaction and fee2pay.

We are a voice for the crews of Payday 2, the developers of Payday 2, Overkill have destroyed a game loved by many, and I am unfortunately forced by my morals to leave a negative review. I love the game, but hate what it has become.

To be blunt, they added microstransactions after years of promising not to.

A game that I once adored, and bought with the promise that microtransactions would not be added. That promise was broken. Stay away from this game.

I went as far as to permanently delete it. Let this game die, and let its death stand as a warning to all those publishers and developers who wish to abuse their customers.

Overkill, we'll see you burn for this.

Unfortunately connection drops too often, a problem for many players. We'd play offline, but the AI doesn't even carry the bags so you get shot down in mere seconds. The connectivity issue is a similar one to Payday 1.

Great game too bad its unplayable to its early release, cant join friends, cards lost after payday what a joke I have 8 guys on my teamspeak of which only 2 can play the game, everyone else is plagued by error after error. The release was pushed FORWARD 2 WEEKS and this is what happened, i would rather be in the beta still. wait until the cops come through the walls

The amount of content is EMBARRASSING and significantly less than what was advertised for the launch version, instead opting to hold back high tier and endgame missions for upcoming DLC considering the game had already began turning a profit before it even released. False advertising is the name of the game with Payday 2 as the advertised number of missions likes to count the same mission up to 5 or 6 times because of extremely minimal variations. The amount of content is pitiful and is held up by the crutch that is the game's RNG loot system which encourages farming and excessive play on the the tedious and short missions. to ensure maximum playtime. It's a Frankenstein of a game comprised of flatout broken mechanics and skills, unfulfilled promises, significantly sub-par missions (both quality and quantity wise) and I extremely regret paying 30$ for it. Overkill won't be getting another dime from me, and if you're smart you won't give them anything, either. Expand

The loot drop system is terrible if you want mods you have to grind to get any.
The character progression practically stops dead at level 39 since you have unlocked everything in the game but the level cap is 100.
In short just don't buy it.
I know I wont be spending money on the 'dlc' yet another game company that likes to milk us gamers for every last penny.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is complete bloody If you played the beta you have no reason to buy this game you have played the complete game basically minus 10 player experience levels and in whichever class you choose and 3 or 4 guns pretty much (that are honestly lacking and where is the lmg's?). 17 Heists/Jobs (30 Stages/Missions) 6 (random) Escape Heists is what they promised, what was actually given was like 10 or 12 tops. Worthless considering every heist is about 1/3 in size or complexity in comparison to any heist on PD1 not to mention the copy/paste effort that each heist is. When i say there is 10 to 12 heists half of those are also the EXACT SAME. Bank cash, deposit and gold are 3 different heists regardless of them being literally the exact same missions with a different bag item and jewellery store and the Ukrainian job are also basically the same. Oh and they also count a difficulty as a whole new set of heists to bump up their abysmally small list. Also the dynamic environment is pretty much the same every time you play minus one less or more guard/security camera in a slightly different spot. Expand

I have played over 1000 hours since its release in 2013. Payday used to be a great game, but it has rapidly devolved into a system designed to milk as much money possible from its once great community. If you are interested in buying this game, I urge you to reconsider: Overkill / Starbreeze have and will continue to entirely change the game to manipulate players for money.

Not anymore. Overkill decided (maybe at Starbreeze Studios behest) that not only should we pay for all the increasingly lousy DLCs, but now there should be content behind microtransaction paywalls.

One of the original creators of Payday 2 (who is no longer with the company) said that there would never be microtransactions in this game. The current head of development for this game said TWICE that there would never be microtransactions in this game. Clearly he is a liar and Overkill doesn't respect their consumers.

Well, they opened a Pandoras Box with this little stunt during an event which (according to years past) is supposed to be free content only for the people who put quite a large amount of money in their pockets. WE supported them and they decided that it wasn't good enough. I, for one, won't take that. I'm done with this one and if I can dissuade even one person from ever playing another Overkill made game I'll feel like I've accomplished something good.

I was thinking Overkill was at an all time low there, but since they've said they have more than 20 months to support I thought they'll pick it up.

    How mistaken I was.

The only thing good about the black market update was it was there first ever attempt to overhaul a majority of weapons in this game, DLC and non-DLC included. But that's about it. Weapons went horribly overpowered, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The weapon skins, resembling that of the CSGO system unsettlingly, is hidden inside safes that you get from card drops. And the drill that takes to open the safes you got costs money. Real money. Worst of all, skins modifies weapon stats. So yes, this game is P2W now. And to think that the base game cost money too? This screams cash grab for any new player.

This is not healthy for the community. What we'll be seeing is overpriced +stats skins selling on Steam trade and scams everywhere in no time. Veteran players who saw the better of this game *will* leave and that drains the playerbase out of quality.

This game was good. Back when Overkill called themselves indie, they deserved it. They were engaging, ambitious, focused, and caring. Now, half of the contents is behind a paywall and if it wasn't enough you got P2W elements to even further the disparity. I will not be playing this game anymore until they attempt to remedy this situation. That is, to eliminate P2W in any way, shape or form. Almir would need to be explicit about this and not go around in circles again. This is serious.

I will be withdrawing my subscription from the steam community, and be posting the same review over there. Just so more of you know what's up. Until then, wish you luck Overkill.

Sadly this used to be a really good game. However with the recent course the developers have chosen this certainly is not a good game anymore. The game has gone from a fun experience with quite a lot of dlc to choose from to a game that has become pure pay2win. The microtransactions debacle has personally made me quit and uninstall this game.

I've been playing this game on and off since its launch. I don't have nearly the amount of time most of its veterans do, only a meager 200 hours clocked on steam.

Payday 2 started out as a fairly solid coop-experience, there was stuff to do, things to earn, it was a great game at launch and the several DLCs following. It had a very fair pricing model, only the party leader required to buy the DLC so the whole party could play. But as time went on, and more of the core founders of OVERKILL left, things started looking grim. More paid DLC was pushed through faster, often adding very little to the game. The community events started to take a turn for the worse, focusing on raising money and advertising partnerships instead of celebrating the the fans or improving on the game.

Ultimately the game became a gigantic grind, a handful of missions were always the best to run to min-max rewards. And when they promised to rework the infamy system once more, all we got were additional levels that served no use in game-play other than to distract the completionists for a few more weeks.

The final straw was Crimefest 2015, an update touted to be free to play for all, with an event leading up to its release featuring challenges and rewards for the community as a whole to unlock. Instead they chose to add pay to win elements to the game, and not only that. Ones you would have to gamble for. Unlike TF2 or CSGO where skins are purely cosmetic, in payday 2 they have the ability to roll random bonus stats and modifications. There is no trade system and some of the skins are for DLC weapons only, leaving some player stuck with skins they have paid for that they are unable to use unless they shell out more money for the paid weapon packs.

Rightfully so, the community has been outraged. The developers remain silent instead of trying to resolve the issue or reassure people its being looked into. Given the track record with the current staff of OVERKILL, it comes as little surprise they would do something so controversial. After two of the three founders of the company left to persue other careers there has been a history of lies, half-truths, and selling out the players best interest for every penny.

Unfortunately between the horrible update design, developer silence, and previous experiences, I will not be playing this game or any other game from Starbreeze studios or OVERKILL software in future. Nor would I recommend their games to you or anyone who will listen. They do not value their players time, devotion, or even money.

Now they add XP and $ boosts like those you'll find in games like Warframe. Why is this bad? Because we're talking about a game that has over $100 worth of DLC's, which are often necessary to play the game because the default weapons are obsolete. Adding microtransactions that affect stats to a game that already have DLC's that affect stats and cost $15, to further add more microtransactions and pay2win boosts means only one thing: Overkill is blinded with greed, and for this exact reason players should let them drown in it. I won't tell you to stop playing the game, but don't buy anything else from them.
I don't like extremely greedy companies, hence my personal score.

$19.99 for the base game plus $100+ worth of DLC and Overkill has the idea of including CS:GO like microtransactions, with some stat buffs, even after Almir Listo himself had promised there would never be such in the game.

Well, but here it is: Having a skin is a direct statistic upgrade to a weapon. Basically, with a skin you have better weapon stats with no cons. I know, this is a co-op game, not pvp, but still, this seems like a huge pay2win.

Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game.
