This game only worth if you play in coop with a friend.
Removing that Payday 2 offers you more than 80 hours of fun, upgrades, levels, and a lots of mask types, weapons and a skill tree. If you get the dlcs (incredible cheap) you'll enjoy it more.

Great Game. Played it for 31 hours and enjoyed it a lot. Coop with friends is fun and it keeps motivating to hunt for better weapons, skills etc.. I didn't even play all maps and of course not all difficulty levels and I'm still exited. I would highly recommend to buy this game!!

As a long time Payday fan, starting with the original, Payday: The Heist, I've enacted my fantasy of bank robbing, armored escort stealing, meth cooking, and even as of recent the breakout of one of my favorite voice actors as Hoxton, over and over again. It never gets dull, as the sheer amount of content being added keeps a repetitive task as farming from being monotonous and boring.

Payday 2 features many good points as well as some bad, as comes with all games. However, which each new update, all of the bad things, bugs, glitches, etc. get pushed out, at a rate that is nearly consistent. With the recent welcome approach to mods like HoxHud and PocoHud, almost any and all negatives are virtually gone.

I recommend Payday 2 to anyone who wants to enact the fantasies of the Wild West, whether it be robbing banks or extorting store clerks for money, Payday 2 is for you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's been awhile sine Payday 2 first came out. Since then, many updates have occurred, many DLC missions implemented, and many bugs and problems fixed. It is really unfair to say that "Bugs make the game to hard to play while not online" and such. This game requires real time to learn, and it requires skill. Single Player is not broken, it's the players that complain that are. Payday 2 itself is a hard game, regardless of single player or online, and it has many good features. Now, bugs are still present, but the devs from Overkill and Almir himself work on Payday 2 nearly weekly working out the bugs, which is what makes it such a great community and game. Overall, I would say this game deserves a 9, because it's a great game, but has room for improvement with new missions and updates. Expand

So Payday 2, i have played it for almost 1000 hours now. It's just awesome. Its like saying that it sucks because i have a bad computer/connection. It's not Overkills fault you guys are playing with potatoes. (Never experienced any connection issues or lag myself, 100mb up/down and my PC is an i5 4670k with a GTX 760). And why are people complaining about DLC too? The simple fact is they have people making the game as a job. They need to get their salary. And the DLC's cost like 1.50€ on sale so, its not such a big deal. (And atleast the maps played are FREE.) But overall the game is great, Only negative thing that comes into my mind is the lack of levels. There's 100 levels and 5 infamy levels. It takes you a couple hundred hours and that's it, the game's completed. Great game. I just hope all these negative commenters would come and change their review when they're not playing on a potato with their mobile phones internet. Expand

3.4 user score is based on a huge **** made by Overkill a bit over a year ago. It was 100% deserved. However, no one really cared enough to retract their ratings (Including me, until now) when this **** was fixed. What I'm saying is, the negative ratings on this site isn't a representation of the community's feelings on the game. It's way, way better than that as of now.

I am disappointed by all of the negative press from the fans this game has been getting. Yes, the micros were a bad idea, but they don't ruin the game. Okay, lets start off with what I like:

Unique mechanics that put other co-op wave survival games (mostly L4D2) to shame, and keep the gameplay fresh.

Soundtrack. The soundtrack. It is amazing. Intense and fast-paced it WILL get you pumped for the next onslaught of cops.

Extensive gun customization that makes each weapon feel unique (For the most part), and allows some weapons to have totally different functions, despite being the same, when they are modded differently (I have 3 AK rifles, all with different statistics and functions).

ADDICTIVE gameplay that'll keep you coming back for more. Sure its a core gameplay loop, but RNG elements and enemy spawns will make the experience different every time, or at least for longer and harder heists.

Interesting classes, that play differently, yet aren't restrictive (I.E. the geneius [technitian + mastermind] and fugighost [ghost + fugitive]). Sure there are some metas but those aren't really required on anything but DeathWish. The perk decks also build on this.

Continuous support. This one is self-explanitory, and comes in both paid and free DLC, which are released on a monthly basis.

Some new mechanics like bag moving and drills, which set it apart from the typical L4D-style shooter, building on the objective-based wave defense.

    Now for the bad:

TOO MUCH DLC!! This is probably the biggest community issue. And the micros don't help at all. AT ALL!!!

Limited stealth mechanics. Goddammit, the stealth sucks. Sure, it has interesting ideas like pagers that limit the amount of guards you can kill (that was inspired by Metal Gear Solid I assume), but stealth is really frustrating unless playing with a crew of friends who know EXACTLY what they are doing.

The community. Remember how I expressed my disappointment in the community's reaction to the micros ? Yeah, they threatened community forum moderators. VOLUNTARY community forum moderators. You know, the ones that have nothing to do with Overkill's business decisions. Yeah, not the best community. Pretty fine on the Wiki forums though.

Useless weapons. While most of the weapons have uses, some are just clearly superior to others. THe Blaster 9mm is clearly superior to the L2A1. A lot of weapons are practically clones of each other now , and that means that a lot of weapons are just clearly better than others (usually by way of ROF, mag size, or modability).

Graphics. While the sound design is spot-on, and the graphics are a big step up from the games predecessor, they still are mediocre. The game needs a new engine, and it shows as bright as day. While first person animations and models are mostly fine, third person animations are severely limited and graphics are meh. Not a huge complaint, but it still is an issue.

Ultimately, a unique and enjoyable, albeit flawed game with interesting mechanics. Will keep you occupied for multiple hours if you enjoy the core gameplay loop. If not then don't bother. Also look up some videos for which DLCs you should get (Ex. Gage Weapon Pack 1, Gage Mod Courier, and Hotline Miami DLC are all good investments, but the Alesso Heist and Chivalry Pack are not).

Final verdict: 8.5/10 (Rounded to 9)

Expand

Payday 2 is a fast paced FPS where you play as a heister in the PAYDAY Gang, a group of criminals who rob banks, jewelry stores, and mercenary organizations. But despite this, I would say this is one of the greatest games of 2010-2019. Not only can the game and nearly all of the DLC be purchased in a bundle for 20 dollars on sale, but the scale of this game is staggering. 66 unique heists, a ridiculous amount of different weapons, and just... so many masks. I notice so many people claiming the game has microtransactions, however there are no microtransactions anywhere. Just the DLC that you can get for 20 bucks, and increases the longevity of the game tenfold. Now I'm definitely biased, because I've sunk more time into this game than I would like to admit, but this game is just fun, plain and simple. If you bring along some pals, it can be some of the stupidest fun you could ever have. I can't stress this enough, if you have the money to spend, get this game. The characters are so memorable, the gameplay stays fresh hundreds of hours in, and the soundtrack is truly one of the greatest soundtracks of any video game. I would like to have choice of being able to play a ghost in some maps and a techforcer in others but that is not a realistic option here without having a 2nd steam account with a 2nd copy of the game. Another complaint is that the game is basically unplayable solo because the AI teammates don't do anything but shoot enemies and revive you if you're downed. They can't fix drills, carry loot bags, etc. Any mission that requires returning multiple bags to an escape vehicle becomes tedious if not impossible. Yes, it's a co-op game, but I would like the ability to try out missions solo before I jump in with a group of people where everyone knows what they're doing but me. Expand

I'm rating this game without having played the first. If you are a TL;DR person and asking me if I would recommend you the game, I can give you this answer:

I do recommend the game to you, if you happen to be a person who enjoys cooperative multiplayer games online. If you are a player preferring singleplayer games, I cannot recommend you this title. Read below why:

Visuals 9 out of 10 The game looks smooth and the filters it uses can be turned off. Textures are clear and ingame objects look very convincing. The game definitely is a beauty.

Sounds, Soundtrack and Voices 9 out of 10 The voice actors are authentic and fun to listen to. The weapons sound convincing and the electronic soundtrack emphasizes the actions taken by the player. Is the player not discovered yet, so will the music reflect that by playing slow beats and opposed to that the music is fast and upbeat when the police storms into the bank. It even builds up to those moments. For some the soundtrack might be too repetitive, though, as there are relatively few tracks that will be repeated every other mission you play.

Gameplay 7 out of 10 First of all, it's important to note here that Payday 2 is a multiplayer game. It features a singleplayer variation, but make no mistake. The single player mode is barely functional as the cooperative AI for your 3 teampartners is too rudimentary. It's virtually unplayable. Payday 2 is played best with 3 friends of yours that you can rely on. If you don't know other players you will have to bite the bullet and play with random other players. My personal experience here has been very mixed, from egomaniacs who kicked other players for no good reason (such as a low level or wrong equipment chosen) to charitable and friendly players who coordinated via chat and went through the several missions of the game smooth and in short timeframes.

Whether you will meet the former or latter kind of player will depend on your own luck. That aside, the gunplay of the game feels smooth, different weapons and upgrades give enough variety to personalize and choose from and the four different skilltrees are well balanced and diversify characters nicely. With the right people you will definitely have a great time.

One characteristic of this game that might put you off should be mentioned The game features about 30 different missions or even more, however it uses a fraction of that amount as maps for these. This means that in various missions you will be put into the same level with items, entry points, saves and lockers, barricades, player and enemy spawns and other such points of interests shuffled around. While that does change how every mission plays out, some seem to feel that it leads to a lack of diversion and replayability. How you judge that is up to you.

Last but not least, a comment on the difficulty. The game has 4 different difficulties and a "Pro" modifier for each mission. Normal, hard, very hard and overkill. Picking one of these changes the enemy spawns as well as the rewards. Normal spawns ordinary cops and few armored units. Overkill spawns more, tougher and better armed enemies who will soak your ammo clips up like sponges the water. Additionally, you will also face enemies with special traits in the higher difficulty levels, such as "bulldozers" that literally take hundreds of bullets to kill and other such friendly surprises. The difficulty levels in-between feature upgraded cops and fewer of these special enemies. Finally, the pro mode. If you choose to play a pro mission, you will only have one try for all the levels of the mission. If you fail the mission at any point, your mission and its progress will be terminated.

Technical quality 6.5 out of 10 There are few bugs in the game, but when they happen they can be annoying. After playing a while it might happen that you lose connection to a host and your game will crash few minutes afterwards. I've had it happen to me only once after a long 5-hour gaming session, but it should be noted anyway.

Also the shadow maps of the levels seem pose a problem, as they are in a 4096 resolution that cannot be turned down in the options menu. If you don't have a top notch PC, you will need to mod the game in order to fix that and play with acceptable frames. It's possible, but it requires some extra work on your part.

Overall a very satisfying game with minor issues that can detract from the fun.

If you kick players with skins just because they paid for them, you can kick me for buying the DLC.

The game is extremely fun if you have friends who are about as experienced as you are. Playing with new players can be a pain, since you don't remember to warn them about everything and heists usually end up being restarted.

Gameplay is awesome and the game has relatively few bugs, though some bugs are extremely annoying. Cloakers keep knocking you out from inside a rock or behind a wall for example.

One of the best co-op games and doesn't cost much during sales. Loads of DLC which I recommend buying in sale and getting the GOTY-edition which has some in it.

The only major downfall is that you have to get the mission you wanna play on a dynamic map that change all the time, and many missions only pop up a few times per hours and for about 4-5 secs.

Also you run out of bullets quite fast in harder difficulty modes. And the weapons accuracy is very low.

This game will obviously feature a tons of DLC, and I will likely revise my ratingf based how how they price them and if you can play with your friends who dont necessarily own those DLC.

The gameplay was new for me and seriously loved it. Each mission has it's own set of variations so you have to prepare multiple scenarios. (Plus you can choose between silent or brute way to get the loot which is another plus point.) The community is great in my experience. Most of the players are "well-educated" (low number of rage in the middle of a session, low number of verbal harassment).

The graphics is average in my opinion but this is all right. I can play this game on my laptop with no problem. Honestly, I really don't care about the graphics if the game itself is awesome (which is true in this case).

One thing I actually don't understand that's why i can't buy weapon extensions unless I've got it randomly. Level lock would be better than lottery.

Although there are many bugs, many lost connection, missing Steam overlay or random crash I think the developer will fix those as soon as they can. Therefore the points I'll give is 8.

The maps i personally feel are very good and really in keeping with the genre which is really in a league of its own. Although there are not a massive amount of jobs, they feel right, snatching jewelry and stuffing it in a rucksack while in an intense police standoff feels so exilirating and they have the atmosphere just right.

The map dlc's are good, but my one consern is paying for content like guns without additional maps. that takes no effort in part from the dev team and is aimed at empying your wallet primarily, shame on you.

other than the obvious money grab. the game is really good and you wont be able to stop playing it once it bites you.

There are a few minor bugs, nothing that ruins the entire game and myself and my co-op partners have not had any of the connectivity issues that have been noted by other users (and we are in New Zealand so being unable to connect to servers is a usual annoying issue for us down here). The game is designed for Co-Op however so don't be surprised if its not nearly as entertaining for one player but other than that a solid game.

The contract givers don't have much to say, and the small amount of dialogue available does a solid job of making you feel like you're planning a heist. If you're hoping the criminals you'll be playing as are entertaining, then you'll be disappointed as the 4 main criminals are one-dimensional and only have about 1 paragraph of background found in the crime.net menu. Even though Payday 2 is weak in plot and characters, it excels in gameplay. 2/10

Gameplay: This is Payday 2's strongest aspect as the gameplay is fun, intense at times, and rewarding if you complete the heist with all the loot available. Even though the level design is small (with invisible walls), I was still able to enjoy what little areas the map let me used. At the start of most heist, you start off in "casing" mode. Here you're mask is off, and you'll be able to scope out the area and plan out what you and your crew will be doing (just make sure that when you're casing, you don't bring any big guns or armor if you and your crew are trying to complete that heist stealthy). Once you and your crew are ready (or one of you gets detected), casing mode is over and the heist begins, and if you've seen any heist movies, you'll know what to do. Get as many hostages as possible, look for any saves, vaults, or other important items, fight off the police as they try to stop your heist, grab the loot, get to the escape vehicle, and get the hell out of there. However, if you have a good crew with excellent communication skills, you'll be able to complete the heist in stealth mode (no alarms, no civilians calling the cops, etc.), and when you complete the heist in stealth mode, it feels so rewarding (especially on the harder heist on a high difficulty). The gun play and customization are also really good. You can customize your gun with different barrels, sights, stocks, etc., and you could customize your mask with different materials, patterns, and colors. When you get into a shootout, the guns feel powerful and actually have recoil in them, forcing you to be accurate (this game isn't called Rambo: the Bank Heist). Just like Borderlands, there are 4 skill sets to choose from: Mastermind-the guy who does crowd control and manipulating any guards or cops who get in your way, Enforcer-the guy who is the tank of the crew (charging in with a shotgun, and using saws to be a menacing threat), Technician- the guy who handles C4s, trip mines, and sentry guns to open saves and fend off against cops, and Ghost-the guy who uses suppressed weapons, answers pagers, hides bodies, lock-picks saves, and uses jammers to avoid cameras and alarms detecting him. You get exactly 120 skill points once you hit level 100, and buying all skills would take up 580 skill points. So just like in Borderlands 2, you'll have to respec (reset skill points) if you want to experience what all skills have to offer. The A.I. in this game however, act really dumb most of the time as they have to rely on strength in numbers to be challenging. The are a good amount of enemies in the game (10 to be exact), and one of them in particular (the Tazer) has got to be one the most annoying enemies I've ever played against in a video game (you'll know who he is once he tazes you). Now we get to the 2 biggest problems with the gameplay: The single player experience, and the unlock system. Just like Borderlands, this is a Co-op shooter, so if you don't have anyone to play with, then you'll have to deal with 2 stupid A.I. teammates who only act as bullet sponges rather than famous criminals. The other thing I dislike is the unlock system. You can purchase guns as you unlock them like in Black Ops, but if you want to unlock new mask, attachments (especially sights), or mask customization items, you're going to have to complete a heist, then you'll have to choose between 3 cards, and whatever's behind that card (attachment, mask, mask customization item), you're going to have to keep it, no buying anything, just complete heists (for farming unlocks, just replay "Ukrainian Job" by spending offshore cash). Overall, the gameplay is great, even with some issues. 8/10

    Graphics:
The game looks good at max settings, but nothing will amaze you. 7/10

    Sound:
The gun shots sound realistic, and the soundtrack is solid with some good tracks in the background. 8/10

    Multiplayer:
This games Co-op is just like Borderlands. 4 people at max (recommended each person has a different role), and all of you complete heist together. When you go loud, it gets chaotic and fun (just don't play solo). 9/10

Verdict: This game is essentially Borderlands 2 with heist, and it's a ton of fun to play. If you have 3 friends you want to rob banks with, then get this game. If you like to play solo, then you might wanna ignore this game then. Solo rating: 5/10, Verdict: 8/10

This range of emotions is part of the draw, a heist can be planned to perfection, but unravelled in an instant.
The reason for my lower than average score is the amount of game breaking crashes prevalent in the released version.
In the beta, it was fairly clear to see that the talent trees and crafting was to be the backbone of the game, what gave Payday 2 it's replay value.
With release there have been issues upon issues with crashes that really should have been weeded out months ago.
At this moment in time, you can complete a heist of epic proportions, depending on the efficiency of your team, this can take up to an hour of hard focussing on the job at hand. Upon finishing you are usually presented with all the usual rewards; Experience, Cash (the market currency) and the chance to attain rare and powerful weapon modifications or eagerly sought after mask parts.
Unfortunately there is a large prevalence of this screen being omitted altogether and the game force closing itself in response, losing all progress made since the last auto save point.
Overkill's response to the issue? Restart Steam.
Does this help? No, not really.
Does it get your rewards back? Nope, try again.
Is there a fix in the pipeline? Well, Overkill haven't admitted that they have a problem, so there hasn't been an acknowledgement and/or plan of action presented.
Until then, it's up in the air as to whether at this moment in time, the in game elements represent value enough to risk sinking time at full retail price into a game which is so fundamentally flawed in a vital place.

Payday 2 indeed took the original gameplay from the first game and expanded on it. I gave PD1 a 9/10 and said: "The only reason I do not give this game a perfect score is because, regardless of how good it is, it could have been better. I would like to have seen more content in the game, and could come up with a huge list of easily implemented ideas that would have heavily deepened the game-play."
Overkill certainly deepened the gameplay, however, it lost something in exchange for what it gained. They drastically changed several different mechanics, whether it be gunplay, character motion, or depth of field gfx effects, and though arguably all are improvements, combined together they create a feel that is drastically foreign from the feel PD1 gave.
Regardless, those are all things that you can eventually get past and adapt to the new feel. They improved and expanded on many mechanics from the original game like customization and deployables. However, Payday 2 introduced, in my opinion, a few horrendous flaws to the game.
First and foremost is Crime.net. Without getting overly detailed, though Crime.net was an amazing and intuitive idea in theory, it has been a complete nightmare in practice. Crime.net needs to be replaced or drastically reworked. It is not doing what it was intended to do.
Second is the completely random number generated loot system. You have absolutely no control over what you receive as a reward for completing jobs. This just results in many players, including myself, getting extremely frustrated after a few days. All I want is an extended magazine for my .45 and after over 50 hours of play, I have over 15 million in spending cash and not a single thing I wanted to use it on.
Because of these two simple things, I have been finding myself playing other games instead of PD2. I don't want to deal with the tediousness of Crime.net in order to play a match, and I don't want have to continuously gamble on my bad luck for an item I have no power or control over getting.

I heavily look forward to being able to edit this review after they change Crime.net and make small adjustments to the loot system. The game is amazing, but offers some tedious irritations because of crime.net and completely random loot.

This game has one of the best tutorials I have ever seen, not boring and not forced.
Lack of variations of the heists make this game get boring after a while though, the map plays the same except like 20% of it, while in the first game you could have surprising events and many variations. Also the lack of heists makes you probably get bored of it before you hit Exp Level 100, and you can basically get everything after Exp 50, also the heists don't really feel like you are watching a movie compared to the first game. DLCs and updates are planned though that will probably make this game longer, as it should have been from the start.
This game is being updated sometimes, 6 updates were released 11 days after launch.
For the PAYDAY veterans, this game could be so easy even at high difficulties. Hopefully a new difficulty level will come out soon or later.
It is worth 30 bucks, and I also recommend the first PAYDAY game for a complete experience.

Guards sometimes seem to have eyes on their backs, the online play has synchronization issues between players and enemy hit-boxes don't quite match up with their model while an animation, such as staggering, is being played on them.

The guns seem pretty generic, but there are some that are very enjoyable to use. The ability to take a saw as your primary weapon and grab a submachine gun to go with it as secondary is awesome. Some guns lack the feeling that they actually deal damage because of their sound. Weapons can be customized to a great degree from silencers and sights to stocks and barrels. Almost anything you would customize in your favorite weapon, you can, except for visuals.

Mask customization is a big part of the game, too. After each successful job, you get a payday that consists of money, experience and a card draw. From this card you can get masks, weapon parts, money, materials, patterns and colors. Materials and patterns can be put on your mask and colors can be used to further customize the patterns. I would criticize the developer for the fact that you can only customize a mask once, but it adds to the longevity of the game. Once you have finalized your customization, you need to acquire the same mask again to switch a pattern or material, or both.

Unlockable abilities are a great mixture of something you would expect and things that aren't found in most games of its kind. There are many things that they kept from the original game, but also many that are totally new to the series.

Payday 2 is a strange game with which I have a love/hate relationship. I love it because once you learn the many intricacies of gameplay and have a posse of criminals behind you that know what they are doing, it is fantastic; a smooth and often exhilarating thrill-ride of burglary and murder. Unfortunately, I also hate it because figuring out exactly how to play at the start is extremely difficult and therefore finding a posse of fellow players that know what they are doing is problematic at best. There is no tutorial to speak of which is in itself ridiculous considering that the mission objectives, stealth system, inventory system and interface are all complicated enough to demand one. This means the only way of learning how to play is by jumping into a mission with a few randoms and learning the hard way.
When I first started playing, I was the ultimate liability to my criminal team. Not knowing what I was doing, I would frequently stuff-up and attract the police, turning simple ‘smash and grabs’ into highly dangerous fire-fights with SWAT officers. Most of these missions we would lose and my team would be naturally quite jaded with me. I was lucky enough to benefit from the community as my patrons took the time to explain where I went wrong and how to improve. But take it from me, unless you all know the complexities of the game, chances are you’re going to the clink!
“When you go into a Jewelry store you need to put on your mask by pressing G, but not near any guards, then enter the room and point your gun at everyone you can while pressing F to put them on the ground, then find the security guard in the crowd and take him out by either pressing E while close to him or simply shooting him with a pistol but only a silenced pistol because the noise might alert civilians down the road. Then you need to go to the guard’s body and find his pager and pretend to be him talking to his dispatch to signal the all-clear by pressing F while looking at his body. While this is going on, others will be avoid cameras, using EMS jammers, going through the roof, dropping ammunition bags, medical bags and other bags in special spots in case the police are alerted. If you have the thermal drill press G to deposit it on the ground near the safe then press F on the box next to the safe to Ahhhhhhhh!” And that’s just the beginning of a jewellery-store heist!
The game is too complicated and not reflective enough of real-life to exist without a clear step-by-step tutorial designed to quickly educate new players. Three of my friends were jaded by the experience in the first few hours because there was no support. So there it is, a great game with enormous potential let down by the absence of a tutorial. And any game which becomes more or less fun based on the skill of its player base requires a tutorial.
Great game once you get into it. Well worth the purchase price. No glitches, fairly good looking, smooth and effortless multiplayer system integrated well with Steam. Buy it.

Single-player it has close to no value. the bots are soo stupid it makes single-player a no go for me.
It's when you team up with your friends the game comes to life. trying to rob a bank or even infiltrate an FBI building stealthy takes allot of coordination and if you break your cover!
it takes allot of firepower and teamwork to escape without getting caught.

I like the first Payday, is a fun game to play, but it has problems. This sequels improves almost everything! You can craft masks and guns, have a lot of maps to play in and an improved gameplay. I still think they should try something with the hostages: you should be able to move'em to a certain point while aiming at them.
Still, a fun experience to play with friends.

The only problem is that the economy needs a good balance, because after around level 40, you have more money than you can possibly use, and that the heists available get rather boring after you've done them 300

There's the new stealth element that actually gives you the option to not mindlessly fight hordes of cops.
The only big problem I have with the game is the AI. Not just your AI teammates, but also the enemies feel really sloppy at times.
Some examples include: bulldozers going trough walls, teammates not reviving me at all and stop moving once I'm downed, and many more situations like these.
I'd give this game a 7/10 before all the updates.

My heart was pounding as the guard moved just a little closer for the stealth kill. I felt my body fill with adrenaline when another guard spotted us and called the police. I had my entire body shifting forward as I shot at police, the superb musical score relentlessly beating in my headphones, hostages' cries filling the air, the drill breaking again. I felt the sadness and tragedy as the FBI descended on us, the vault slowly opening as the smoke finally cleared.

The thing I find most annoying is how you get items in this game. In the old game the way you got items was leveling up and getting achievements. You still unlock things when you level up like guns, supply things and bullet proof vests but, when you want something like a mask, something to paint you're mask or an add on to you're gun to make it better you need to complete a full heist and then it gives you a choice to pick 3 random cards, this process can get annoying when you get stupid add ons for guns you don't like or just get bad paint or designs for your mask.

This process makes it annoying when you want something and you can't get it because of this lousy card system and doesn't make it fun.

I also found this getting a little bit repetitive and that's why I couldn't play it hours and hours on end without getting bored.

I do recommend to buy this game on sale.

PayDay 2 impress you since the first minutes thanks to its fast-paced 4 players co-op gameplay. But that's not just kill the bad cops and take the money.
It offers 18 total heits and they go from the classic bank heist to steal paintings inside a museum or to bring a senator into a bad gate made of coke and scandals you have to create or share to the public.
It has nice graphics, even if not shocking, but it does the job thanks to filters and the engine can put the game to 120-135FPS with many cops on the screen even with mid-end hardware configurations. Just AA is missing but filter usage covers it quite well.
Cool sound effects, adrenaline is set to the max with assault soundtrack, get together with a nice co-op oriented gameplay. Basically, no matter if you choose how to complete the mission, or the day (in fact missions can be made of one, two or three days at present), if you co-op you rock, if you don't you fail, or get arrested if you prefer. Missions are dynamic, so point of interests can change in location and make it harder or easier. Rewards are based on the difficulty level you choose and it increases if you make the job at "Pro" way, in which if you fail you can't retry. Stealth is also the best way, when possible but often it is, to complete missions without killing tons of ordinary and special cops.

Online mode (I won't spend words about offline mode, that is definetely not the mean the game has meant to be played), called CRIME.NET, is clean and well organized. Just lobbies are a little bugged but when you play everything runs extremely fluid. The game is ourtsince few days and it has already got several patches so it seems support is good too. 5 DLCs are planned for this year. Pay day has come, time to get your reward, FUN!"

Graphics are good but blood still looks weird and because of the amount of bullets and bodies bullet holes and bodies quickly disappear with constant updates and dlc you will find yourself coming back to it again and again its repetitive but addictive and fun. 8/10 Expand

Sometimes the AI for the enemies seems like it cheats. This is only really when you are walking behind them or hiding and they see you anyway. It's ruined more that one heist for me, though it's still fun to shoot your way out.

PAYDAY 2 brings back the characters from the original and they are back on a crime spree.
This time you can access heists through a dynamic map displaying heists (which are called contracts and can span from one to three days) alongside their difficulty levels and who is playing them. New contracts (which are not in play by anyone else) pop up all the time and there are many different contracts to choose from (around ten maybe more at the time of writing). The higher the difficulty of a heist, the higher the XP and cash gain. Each difficulty level introduces new enemy type(s). There are a huge amount of different masks to choose from, over fifty, which can be customized with colours and more which are sometimes gained after heists I'll get to that later. The contracts in the game contain bank-robbing, jewelry-robbing, mall-destroying, meth-cooking, art-stealing, bag-hauling and more, alongside controlling civilians and, of course, shooting guys with guns. If you're into a game having a range of weapons, rejoice there is a mighty range of primary and secondary weapons un-lockable through your 'reputation' level and then bought with cash. Just like there are many weapons, there are many attachments for them.
One of the biggest features in PAYDAY 2 is the skill tree system with four different trees: Mastermind, Enforcer, Technician, and Ghost. Masterminds have a med kit and can take control of a situation, allowing you to make guards cuff themselves, civilians help you up and people to do as you say. Enforcers have an ammo bag and are the 'big guns' of your squad, being able to carry bags quicker, deal more damage and have more health. Technicians have trip mines and sentry guns and can deal with equipment faster and more efficiently. Ghosts have an electronic jamming device and are about speed and agility, being able to sprint in all directions, take much less fall damage and pick locks faster. You don't have to invest yourself in one skill tree you can choose whatever skills you like.
Whenever you complete a contract, you and your crew can each choose a card out of three. They are face-down so you don't know what you're getting. With these cards you can obtain extra cash, weapon attachments, masks, colours, materials and more.
Unfortunately, after a certain amount of time, repeating the same contracts for more cash to buy, well, most things in the game becomes repetitive and shooting wave upon wave of cops becomes monotonous. Luckily, there are different ways to approach heists, there usually being a plan A which involves being stealthy or controlling people without the police getting involved, or plan B which is what usually happens when the alarm is raised and it's shooty-shooty time. The developers also promise more content and so far they have delivered there are occasional free updates with items, masks and heists, but also DLC for those who want it. Another issue is the not-so-great AI. If you are using AI teammates they will do a great job of being a bullet shield and reviving you, but they cannot complete objectives, which can make things difficult. The enemy AI can be odd sometimes, you might find them looking at a wall or being generally idle and soak up your rounds. This is not a common issue though, most of the time you'll be relentlessly rushed, flanked and have your objectives halted by your enemies. The last main issue which becomes apparent later on is that there is a certain level of grinding that must sometimes be done to buy that one thing you wanted, or unlock that skill you've been working towards. This is not a major issue but is sometimes complained about.
Overall, PAYDAY 2 is a brilliant, fresh and exciting co-op shooter that is at its best when played with friends. If you're considering getting this game... do. You almost definitely won't be disappointed.

I tried out Payday 2 during a free weekend on Steam and soon after decided to add it to my collection. Payday 2 brings a fresh style of cooperative gameplay to the first person shooter scene and that is likely why it stands out so well.

Gameplay: The primary objective in Payday 2 is to successfully enact a four-man heist operation. These operations can be approached guns-ablazing or stealthily- whichever your team prefers. Several different heists can be attempted and you are given the ability to play with friendly AI or in a multiplayer matchmaking setup. While these four-man teams are extremely interesting to play with, the connections are unsteady at times and disconnections occur periodically. In addition, each time a player joins your heist mid-game the action is paused while connecting.

Graphics: In terms of visual appeal, Payday 2 does not go above or beyond- even while using max PC settings. The in-game graphics are somewhat comparable to those of a recent Call of Duty game. The only visual effects that stand out are some well-detailed masks and weapons.

Customization: Perhaps what draws me in to Payday 2 the most is the collectibility of items and perks. The game offers a rather large array of masks, body armors, weapons, attachments, and graphic materials to add a personal flair to each. I find collecting masks in particular to be enjoyable, but it feels kind of grindy at times to wait so long to unlock a certain weapon only to have to spend the entirety of your hard-earned cash on it (at least in the early-game).

Replayability: Payday 2 turns out to be a strong multiplayer game- when connection issues don't persist. I could see myself coming back to this game over a large period of time, and I do find myself going from heist to heist in order to unlock new items.

Overall, Payday 2 presents an original twist to the FPS genre and luckily the idea is well-executed. If the game were a bit more polished, it might be able to grasp at a 9, but even now it holds a strong 8.

The item/mask drops after each mission make it absolutely addicting to play.

That being said, if you do not have friends to play with its hard to recommend. The AI bots cant help out on stealth missions and are pretty much useless when police starts to head in.

If you have ever watched bank heist movies like Point Break or
The Town, Payday 2 is the Video Game adaption of all those sweet
police shot outs or stealthy ocean's eleven like jobs. The game
is built for 4 player Co-op letting you build a team of friends
or if you don't have any of those, strangers. To take you pick from
tons of "Jobs" If you have enough patience you can stealth some from
beginning to end. Others require a more direct approach, But that
lets you use the large amount of guns to pick. From LMG's,Shotguns, Sniper Rifles etc
and mod them to the point where it is just about a different gun.
Once you have spent your millions of stolen money on new guys and
have nothing left to buy, you can spend the rest of your empire on
making custom masks to show off to all your friends. They have added lots of extremely rare and awesome masks to keep people going back for more. So collectively Payday 2 is a great game but if you don't play online or you hate human interaction you will be missing out on a big part of the game. Payday offers hours and hours of game play with DLC coming out all the time as well. If your a fan of robbing a bank blind I recommend this game.

Update removed microtrans! Fun heist game that gets updated with new heists pretty often. With some more polish it could be a real gem but even as it is it's good fun in small dosages. Controls feel good and graphics are decent, soundtrack fits atmosphere well.

Probably the most fun i've had with a co-op game in a while. Payday: The Heist was kind of meh. But Payday 2 is insanely fun if you are willing to get your hands dirty (In the game). The guns feel extremely satisfing and have an oomf to them that few other games have. Do not be fooled, robbing banks is not the only thing you do. You rob diamond stores, as mentioned previously, you make meth for a drug baron only to take out the rival mob family, on the same job mind you, and you even escort an old friend that makes a return from the first game. If you enjoy shooters, and robbing stuff you are going to enjoy this game. Especially if you like grinding. Expand

This game is a very big improvement over the first PAYDAY. PAYDAY 2 has great co-op, requires you to be smarter and has less excessive forces of police enforcers. While it does suffer some flaws from the first game, it is still better than the first.

PAYDAY 2 now has the 4 heisters, which are all different except from Wolf and now the addition of Old Hoxton in Washington. With new heists, improved graphics and overall better gameplay, I can easily say you should get this rather than the first game.

PAYDAY 2 has greater combat, improved graphics, new and exciting heists, the addition of stealth (Even though you could stealth Diamond Heist and No Mercy, this is a full on mechanic now) and the guns feel a lot better to shoot. The guns not feeling good to shoot was one of my complaints in the first game and they have fixed that with better animations and great sound effects.

The music in this game is great, but I prefer the first one as it actually sounded more criminal. The sound in the first game was grinding and sounded very menacing, like a criminal. PAYDAY 2's music is quite high-pitched and is more just generic dubstep, with the exception of Big Bank.

One flaw that PAYDAY 2 has is the interactivity between the heisters, and I don't mean online actual people but I mean AI. The crew used to communicate to each other a lot more in the first game, they barely do it now in this game. If you told someone to follow you, they would say "Yeah! I'm coming!" which made it more immersive.

Another flaw that PAYDAY 2 has is that it gets repetitive very quickly. Whilst new heists do get added, they take time as expected therefore after you have completed every heist once, you will get quite bored. I do not know a fix for this other than just adding more heists from the start and I do not blame OVERKILL but I do not play the game that much due to this problem.

Overall, you should get PAYDAY 2 even though it suffers from bad AI and repetition. It's fun to play, especially with friends but not as exciting when you are playing with random people that you meet on the internet.

Graphics are a bit dated but the game shines with fun coop, even with some sync issues.

Only have some 380+ hours logged in this game, sure some heist are bad and not as cool as the heists in Payday 1. but Rats, Hoxton, Hotline, Firestarter, Watchdogs, Framing Frame, Big Oil and Big Bank are fun and the game has somewhat fresh content added overtime since launch. Guns. Lots of guns.

Guns. Lots of guns. well there is probably games that has more guns than this game but the Overkill has done a ok job in keeping it somewhat interesting while leveling up, thou once you reached end game you will notice that your running the exact same gun with the same mods as everyone else. yes endgame is pretty cookiecutter atm, something they are working on.

Community, yes amazingly Overkill actually talks with their community, they might not always listen but they do on occasion an that is really sweet, they are often good at announcing coming patches/dlc but when delays happen they are really silent and generally have a bad handling about it, but that is something they can improve. and they really tricked us thinking that something really cool was coming to Payday only to announce a Zombie game. thanks for that Overkill... good luck with that damn tricksters.

There has been loads of controversy around this game after the 4th Crimefest (Overkill makes an event of every year Payday2 has it's birthday) With microtransactions being added to the game as locked safes for weapons skins. These safes needs a key (drill) to open. That wouldn't be a problem for most people, but there is also stats boosts to these skins. Now how ever you feel about that this is a PVE game the stats boosts does not in anyway destroy your game. The stats boosts does not make you a god in anyway.

Overkill has since also backed down a bit on the microtransaction skins, and you now can also get the drill as a reward after a heist the same way you get the safe.

Now then would i recommend this game, i have played 1000 hours hell yes i would. In a group of friends it is one really fun co-op game.

Overkill has put the blame for the microtransactions on 505 studios, bought them out, sent them packing and removed the microtransactions. We have our game back.

But because of the many broken promises over the years, it will take time and absolutely no more lies, to fully earn my trust enough to purchase the already announced Payday 3.

Gameplay in Payday 2 has pits you and 3 other players into doing a heist. You and 3 other players need to work together in order to pull off the heist and you will all individually earn an even cut of the money. As you complete different heists you will also gain XP and you will climb your way through the different ranks and become the ultimate criminal. Each heist has a different difficulty setting and in order to pull some of them off, some will require casing the place before hand. I like this sort of feature as this game could have easily just made a generic shooter where you need to rob a bank but it didn't turn out that way. They let the players decide how to play so it can satisfy different players go through these heists in different ways. You can case the joint, pinpoint where the guards and cameras are, take them out quietly and go in quiet and stealthy or you can go in guns blazing. One certain thing that I don't like in the game is just one certain part. One of the first heists me and my friends did was a car dealership heist where you need to steal some cars from a dealership and sell them. It was going well and we always did well until we got up to a certain point and that was driving the cars to the pickup point. The driving controls suck. Me and my friends kept on crashing our cars on the most unlikeliest things and the cars moved awfully stiffly. Apart from that there isn't much to complain about.

Graphics aren't exactly anything to write home about but they aren't bad these are good graphics but I can definitely tell Overkill went for gameplay over graphics, which is something the devs of "The Order: 1886" need to learn. I'm not saying the game is ugly to look at or anything these are good graphics but I think they could have been better. These look like graphics you'd get in a 2008 game not 2013. Sound is a mixed bag. Most of the sound is OK but some of the sound seems out of place and weird to listen to. When you get the game you will know what I'm talking about. The OK sound is... well OK but when you hear the weird, out of place sounds, they will stand out like a sore thumb.

You will never get sick of playing Payday 2 as it's the sort of game that you can play the same heist over and over again and still find it difficult and challenging, even after 100 attempts. Me and my friends found this out at the car shop heist.

If you want to try something different, something challenging yet enjoyable and to really test how well you and your friends cooperate with each other, this game is definitely for you

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
