A large, gorgeous world filled with interesting things to find and defeat, that is well worth the time investment, despite the frustrating start.

Noreya: The Gold Project is a very pretty 2D platformer that attempts to instill agency and creativity wrapped in a nice, neat metroidvania package. Whether it does so or not is up for debate, but one thing is certain: The puzzles and platforming are quite enjoyable.

Noreya has some unique ideas and questionable design choices. I doubt it'll leave a mark compared to the most successful examples of the genre, but in general, it is a good metroidvania.

We’re not exactly starving for choice when it comes to Metroidvania-style games on Steam, and nothing Noreya: The Gold Project does should push it to the front of your wish list. Indeed, there are a lot of obvious flaws here that pull the adventure down. At the same time, it hits the basics well and there are a few really interesting elements that, when combined with the strong atmosphere, might just hook you.

Noreya: The Gold Project is an enjoyable enough Metroidvania but feels a little limited when compared to other titles in the genre.
