    Minecraft is such a really fun game. I've been playing it since I was around 5-6. Sure, there was a downfall around 2015-2019 but people do not realize how much fun there is in the game. It really brings so much nostalgia to me. Thank you Mojang for creating this game.

    Really nice sandbox game, allowing one to explore their imagination. The mechanisms were a bit tedious at the start but have got a lot better after years of development.

Although the game has an ending in the form of killing Ender Dragon, so nothing prevents you from playing the game further. Minecraft is magical especially with its world that somehow has no boundaries. You can customize it at will, and that's what makes the game so special. As they say imagination has no limits and here you can make a lot of all kinds of buildings. From small houses to phenomenal castles. That was just an example. The choice is yours. The game offers several modes and these are Survival, Hardcore and Creative. The most classic one is Survival, where you have HP and the need to eat. For building you have to mine materials and just as the word Survival implies, it is a kind of survival. The second mode mentioned, Hardcore, is spiced up Survival. Same rules. Health bars, the need to eat, only the game is harder, mainly because in Survival mode you can freely switch between game difficulties while playing, while in Hardcore the game is locked and you can't get rid of mobs. And the last mode called Creative is the easiest. No lives, no hunger. Immortality and the ability to fly around the map with the ability to have every building material you want. This mode is mostly used for those who just want to do outright building. As I mentioned the most classic one is the Survival mode. You are dropped into a randomly generated world. Without anything. Your job is to survive. If you die, you spawn where you spawned when you created the world. This changes after you get wool and some wood, which will allow you to make a bed. Once you sleep in the game, the next time you die you will spawn where you slept. So once you've survived a few hours of gameplay by getting some materials to build a house and also getting some sheep's wool to make a bed, you're pretty much set. The fact that you have to have materials for a house was an example. You don't have to. You could make a treehouse. You can make a house in a cave. Underground. Underwater. I don't know... There's just so many possibilities, and that's what makes Minecraft so excellent, because every player will have their own unique path through the game. As well as building, there's also mining, which I think is such a great way to relax. You're just digging around in your cave, laying torches and suddenly... Boom! Creeper behind you and you're dead. I'm taking it back. It's not really that relaxing. There are mobs in the game besides you that spawn at night and come after you. They just want to eat you for dinner. You, of course, want to defend yourself, so you kill them with your sword, which you crafted thanks to the Crafting Table. The Crafting Table here will designate you to craft items. A few years ago, this could be quite frustrating for newcomers because there is a sort of grid that you place different materials in to make items. Previously you had to know what to put where and how to put it. Either you figured it out or the internet helped you. But nowadays the game has gone through a lot of updates including the fact that now the game already shows you what and how to put where to make the item you want. So for new players, perfect. So much for crafting. Back to mobs. You have your crafted sword and you go kill the bastards. Once you kill them, you get some marbles shining on you. You pick them up, and you see a line start to fill up at the bottom. That line is a level. Yes, your character is leveling up. Minecraft may not be a solid RPG, but you gain level here, which you can then use to enchant your items. Enchant is something that upgrades items. It gives them more damage or an unbreakable time, for example, because your weapons will be destroyed here sooner or later. It depends on what material they're made of. If it's wood, they'll be destroyed right away and won't do any real damage. But if you mine deep underground for a while and have patience, you can find coal, iron, gold, redstone and especially diamonds! Diamonds are the key here. Such diamond weapons can last a while and give the most damage. And diamonds are needed to finish the game, because with them you can make the diamond pickaxe you need to mine obsidian. You can then use the obsidian to create a portal to the Nether. Unfortunately, this is where the biggest problem comes in, and for me the only downside of the game. You'll need to kill a few blazers and then, in the normal world, a few Enderman to create the Ender Perel that will lead you to the endgame. Maybe I'm just a noob, but finding the Endermans took me a while and getting the Ender Perel felt unnecessarily lengthy. Once you have enough Ender Perels, they lead you to the End Portal, which I also had quite a bit of trouble finding though. So aside from that problematic ending for me, though, Minecraft is an amazing game that I recommend and a MUST-PLAY title for me. Expand

    Not only is it an all time classic but Mojang just keep adding **** to the point where 11 years after full release and we’re still getting plenty of welcome additions to the game. The soundtrack has always been regarded as one of the best of all time and it continues to meet those standards with every expansion. Entertaining combat, heartbreaking story; well worth anyones money.

Let’s be honest here tho we all have that weird time every month where we find ourselves in a crippling Minecraft addiction for a week, we may go off that addiction for a second but we always come back why? Because minecraft is one of the best, most fun interactive creative games in gaming history. Period. Is it a work of art story game with a tear jerking ending? No, is it a high performing game with borderling real life graphics? No, does that mean it can’t be a phenomenal game? No. Expand

    I can see why. Minecraft is a very well-made game. There are many aspects to this game I enjoy. I love Creative Mode. It was such a blast creating whatever I wanted out of blocks. (Despite how limiting that sounds, it's actually really fun to think outside the box) For example, I loved building numerous NES sprites out of simple wool. I mean, you could literally create whatever your heart desires, and I love that about Minecraft.

    For a while, that's the only thing I did until I discovered the beauty of the different servers. Mineplex and Hypixel are extremely nostalgic servers, and I played on them and a few others all the time. I still do with my friends from time to time, and it's such a blast.

    To be honest though, I never got into the Survival Mode. I know a lot of that is just me, because Survival games really aren't my thing, but I found it very slow and boring. But everything you can do in Minecraft is completely optional, and it doesn't affect my enjoyment for this game at all.

    Though, I'll just say this, I don't think the soundtrack is all that good. The only one I can remember out of the top of my head is the four main notes of Sweden. Everything else is just a blank for me. I always have the music turned off in the settings unless I want it on for the atmosphere.

    Still, Minecraft is one of my favorite video games of all time, and I'll never forget all the memories I had.

My only problem is that the game can become a bit boring after sometime due to its lack of story, and playing with some friends at first can definitely improve your experience with the game.

    ///

    Well, let's start of by highlighting that this review is being written in 2021 on the 1.16.5 update. The "Good Ol' Days" of Minecraft as an indy are long gone, yet the game stays at the top and regularly comes back up on the popularity charts.

    The game's popularity is well deserved and has everything one needs. We can easily state that any and everyone will find a gameplay suiting their interest, whether it is creativity in one's own little world, a challenge in survival meeting strangers, or a mix of both on a private server with friends.
    That alone, lets Minecraft rise among the best games in the world, and makes it very likely to provide you with long and plentiful hours of fun.

    However, being number one has a downside. Far back is the time where we used to have snapshot over snapshot over snapshot on a weekly basis and "major" updates, with plentiful of functionalities, many times a year. And for someone that knew this Golden Age, the current rhythm of added content leaves a bitter taste.
    Updates adds their fair share of content, but comes around twice a year. The price of popularity, the need for perfect stability, and extended bug-tracking we guess ? Nevertheless, getting so few content added feels a bit frustrating when you start perceiving the endless possibilities of the game.
    Hopefully, the community mods & modpacks are here for you !

    Now onto what makes you stop playing it after building a good house and a slain enderdragon (even if you won't avoid coming back to it in a year or so !): the lack of incentives. We're talking here game-based incentives: the sacralized place that the Enderdragon has, right before the credits, makes us call it a "boss". However, it is sadly pretty easy and lacks scaling to the number of players the immense possibilities of enchanting do not need to be exploited nearly to their maximum for any player to have comfortable odds of beating the boss without deaths. Same for the Wither. And once they both are down, well... You're left in the world. It would not be fair to say Minecraft ends here, rather, you now are left with your own incentives, as you have "beat the game". Possibilities are many, but the motivation now has to be intrinsic. That is why "endless possibilities" don't rhyme with "endless hours of gaming" for everyone. Achievements, for instance, are a good step towards orienting player to new challenges.

    That is why Minecraft gets a grade of 9: we did not sing praises all the Minecraft's great survival experience and room for creativity deserves, but we highlighted the two aspects that its gameplay lacks. They could make you want to exploit all the room you're left with to experiment, create and optimize, but instead you hit the incentives ceiling pretty fast and new content comes slowly.
