The emphasis on voice acting is clear yet with dull writing and absolutely disgusting animations Andromeda feels more like a parody/fan-fiction of ME3. As I wrote this review my score changed from a 4 to 3 because this game... even after 5 years of development has some major bugs. As a game designer I understand that there will always be bugs that will always need fixing, however the sheer amount of bugs in this are amazing, from clipping into the floor in a continuous cycle to being stuck in T pose whilst only being able to jump to move, the list goes on. Any game that is more focused on pushing a social/political agenda than entertaining it's players is going to be terrible. ME:A does exactly that. The romance options are destroyed by being romanceable by anyone rather than having particular same sex romance options that are properly written and real seeming. The overall character arc is weak, juvenile and uninteresting as are the storylines.

Maybe if it had a different name I'd be able to get some joy out of the combat and overlook the total lack of a quality RPG experience, but being that this is supposed to take place in the same Universe of my favorite RPG of all time I think a 2 might actually be a bit generous.

They really are adequate, not good, but the characters get the job done. The real problem with this game is death by a thousand cuts. Any one of them would be forgivable by itself. But there are dozens of minor problems all the way from every single aspect of design to outright bugs. There are so many annoyances, i'll list several below. I accidentally wrote this review in the PS4 section, so I'll add to it this time around. And before I poop on the game further I'll say one nice thing.. The galactic nav-system from a graphical point of view is probably the best in the series.
    Combat:
The combat is super weak and totally unsatisfying. The cover system is a major step-down from it's predecessors, and doesn't viscerally lock you in place. Compared to other cover based shooters, this game is sub-par by far. On harder difficulties the enemies can melt you whenever you accidentally break cover, which is super easy to do for a plethora of reasons. Your NPC companions are best used as distracting meat shields while you dish all the damage. Combat is by the numbers with cover playing more as an annoyance than anything else. Encounters usually boil down to dying once or twice until it randomly plays better. The player just doesn't have firm control over the battles. Cheese tactics reign supreme here. Just hide and force the AI to chase you down a corridor. The combat is just horsesh**. Coupled with inexplicably abysmal frame rates in combat I'm just not sure what EA intended to push out the door. (I'm running a GTX 1070) Saving and loading stabs me in the gut constantly, because the game is constantly killing me and erroding my progress. If you create a game that is constantly wiping your players due to unpredictable behavior, you should include a quick save/load. This leaves you having to reloot everything you just did from 5 minutes ago. The unpredictable behavior that is causing these deaths comes in the form of input/graphical lag, an inability to know when enemies have flanked you due to not having a proper 2d radar minimap, and weapons missing targets at critical moments because even fast guns have slow projectiles.
    Level design:
If you are going to encourage people to explore your maps don't create death traps and ledges that look like they need to be explored. I'm constantly annoyed rooting around for loot. Half the time I'm rewarded, half the time I die or relize a ledge or platform which should be clearly out of reach that I just got to goes nowhere or can be accessed later. It's a waste of time, but I'd rather not have to ever come back and explore the terrible levels for something I missed. They are so bad I never want to come back. I NEVER had that feeling in ME 1&2. Along with level design is the god-awful vehicle. Just give me 4 tires, is slowing to a stop like a tank every time I need to turn a feature!? There is a reason we use vehicles with 4 wheels NOT 6. The reason this is in the level design section is that there is clutter everywhere, so turning as it turns out is VERY important. Essentially your average speed could be 70k/ph in practice it's probably 35k/ph.
I have to stop this rant, it could literally never end. There are problems EVERYWHERE. This is a game in early beta. It was never polished. The best thing I can say about it, is that it never crashed one time. Which is pretty awesome, as for the rest of it....
    Conclusion:
This game amounts to nothing more than minimum viable fan service. ALL you have to do to make a successful ME game is take the best parts of ME 1&2 and turn that into an exploration game. Stop trying to make this an epic cinematic experience. These story lines are all used up. I don't need a super villain, I don't need to bang all my crew mates, just create a survival type game where I get to explore space, uncover mysteries, and upgrade my gear, base, ships etc.. Just use the ME universe, reference what you already made, and boom happy gamer (assuming you actually play test it). Please make Bioware great again. I never thought I would say this but Trump you're the only one who can save the franchise.

The only part of the game that I enjoy so far is it's awesome combat system, granted the game doesn't drop frames / lag as it tends to do in several places for no reason at all. Gameplay wise it's the old ME but better, a lot better... however the amount of issues ruins the whole experience.

This game is not worth your time if it costs 60$, I don't have to remind you that this is AAA product, and in it's current state avoid it like plague, this game is buggy, unoptimized, and feels like it was rushed.

After patches, and when it will cost 30$ you can buy it, don't pay more for this crap - it's simply not worth it.

Yup, "RW-DRB32". That's what it says.

So apparently 13th century europeans moved to a galaxy far, far away and interbred with the Twi'lek or something, who knows really. Trying to interpret any of this gives BioWare too much credit, they clearly didn't even try to make any of this interesting. When I first met the baddies and my AI tells me they are DNA-based I thought that that was a great little piece of foreshadowing, but turns out it was just bad and lackluster writing.

And lacklusterness is the common theme in this game. The dialogue is plentiful but pretty bland, my crew are pretty bland (although they do have their moments), the side quests are pretty bland, the bad guys are pretty bland, and the game in general is.

ggwp BioWare, bland/10. The combat is pretty good but if I'm only doing it for useless and boring quests then that's not enough to pull me into a game, I'm sorry.

PS: This whole game is blue/orange, what the hell. The menus, the people, their outfits, the plants, the rocks. To top it off they put a blue filter on top of the screen in half the areas, so even the greens are blue. I know it makes for good contrast but man, this game is overdoing it big time.

Then there's all the half assed little details, rocks & plants floating in the air, they couldn't even be bothered to make an animation for when you get in/get out of the nomad/mako. They couldn't be bothered to make it so YOU CAN GET IN YOUR SHIP WITHOUT BEING IN FRICKING ORBIT! So you gotta watch a god dam cutscene every fricking time you go into your ship. They couldn't even be bothered to make space travel like it is in The Old Republic, either! Where you can still control your character while flying between planets on your ship. You know, like it should be? Half the voice actors sound like they are outsourced from India, the character customizations suck (DA:I had a lot more options than this game & even that was still limited) the combat is glitchy, enemies teleport around, companions are stupid & don't use cover or just take every bullet to the face, you can no longer control your companions freely like in previous games, crafting ****ing sucks because EVERYTHING REQUIRES EZO & EZO IS THE FRICKING RAREST ELEMENT! So you can't even ever craft anything because you can't find any god dam ezo! The UI sucks, & is a big fat cluster-fark, the UI glitches out constantly, the Nomad doesn't even have a fricking gun on it, the mako had a gun! Why doesn't the "New Mako" have a fricking gun? In Combat you get stuck on the smallest rocks, the camera is too close to you, & fixing the FOV barely does anything unless your outside combat, progression is slow as balls, the "Open World Elements" involve mostly driving around scanning **** etc.

The story was written by morons. "Fix this broken computer by using audio frequencies" "We can send messages to our family we left behind in the Milky Way 600 years ago WHO ARE FRICKING DEAD & it would take a million years for it to reach them! Daddy leaves messages on planets he's never fricking been to! The Remnant are just geth & the Kett are basically Chosen from the first games. "Planets" are just flat maps that you go between like in Dragon Age Inquisition, it's basically DA:I in space just like everyone thought it would be.

This game is a ****ing joke. If it weren't for the combat (which is sub-par overall but still enjoyable) the game wouldn't even be worth playing. The game just screams "Lazy" & "Half Assed" everywhere you look. Every NPC is lifeless, & does the same animation over & over when in world hubs, same with your companions. You'd think after games like Witcher 3 bioware would bring their RPG's into the fricking next generation, but nope. Just new generation graphics with the same dull tropes of the past, if not lamer tropes. $40million dollars... You'd think with that kind of budget they'd get some actual talent to make the game.

They have a lot of balls to release something like this after the stunt they pulled with ME 3.
Did they progressively delude themselves to think it would be fine regardless of how low the quality of product is? Its as if they were sheltered people that have never played any other decent game to be able to make a comparison and see just how ridiculous everything turned out to be.

The story and mostly the dialogues were what made it special. Now both of them are terrible. The gameplay might be improved but that won't save the game. Fallout 4 pretty much had the same problem. The gameplay is improved but everything else is worse. Only that this is even a bigger failure than Fallout 4. Mass Effect has never been for the mainstream. None of the 3 previous games sold particularly well but there was something special about this game and a very dedicated fanbase was created around this franchise. Now they've pissed of the only group of people actually hyped for this game. I fear this will mark the end of this franchise. EA decided to end Dead Space after the third game did pretty bad and i see no future for the Mass Effect franchise. Should have left it were it was. Mass Effect is over. This is merely a cash crab trying to squeeze out what is left off the fanbase after Mass Effect 3's ending already pissed off many people. I definitely understand why nearly everyone from the original team left Bioware a few years ago. Bunch of unexperienced racists (look at the Twitter profiles of people working on this game) thinking they could trick people into buying their garbage just because it's named after a once admirable franchise. This is awful. Most notably, the face animations are beyond bad. It's like going back in time back to early 2000's when motion capture wasn't a thing in video games. Even graphically, the game doesn't look next-gen. The story isn't enjoyable, it's actually pretty boring and not interesting to play or watch. Perhaps this game will get the No Man's Sky award of 2017. 3/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything about this game is an absolute disgrace to the once legendary name of Mass Effect. This EA abomination has about as much to do with Mass Effect as S&M relates to M&M's. I don't even know where to begin on how awful this game truly is. It is an absolute travesty, an abomination. The characters are paper-thin cutouts who you will never give two **** about ever. All the wonderful and amazing cast from the original trilogy now have to take a backseat to disgustingly glitchy facial animations, broken camera, buggy ass game-play, boring useless sidequests, and childish cringe-level 9000 dialogue. Player choice means jack **** the entire game, there is no weight or gravity to any decisions you make.

Every design is inferior to the original trilogy. I don't care how good the graphics are, the gameplay is repetitive, buggy, and broken, while the writing will make you lose faith in all humanity forever. Mass Effect once had the greatest, story, characters, and RPG elements of any game. Thanks to Mass Effect Andromeda, the series is now on critical life support, and is fading fast.

Bioware needs to realize EA is pure evil, give them the finger, run far away from them, and then ressurect Commander Shepard in the TRUE Mass Effect 4 all of us loyal fans deserve over this blatant garbage!!! Avoid at all costs if you, like me, adore the original Mass Effect series, and want a return to form!!!

After playing the game for around 11 hours I feel that I am ready to submit a review, I never liked the ME series too much but there were some elements that kept me playing, mostly the characters and the dedicated team behind the games, there was a stain on the last three games by the end of it as ME3 ended in an horrible way,

I was hoping that the team would come back and fix this with an awesome game with strong character development and a solid core, however as I was reading into the new team I notice some of the team had never worked on a game before and that something that I can put up with but it crossed the line when I found out who these people are, some of them are pretty extreme racists and extreme sexists, or a variation of the two. the facial animator has never worked on a game before which is fine HOWEVER this woman also made a video online entitled "I hate men" as usual kotaku tries their best to defend these absurd actions, she didnt stop there she was on the news a short while ago in america talking about how you can be sexually attacked and assaulted IN A GAME (GTA 5 for those interested).

An animator that worked on this game was and still is openly racist towards white people on twitter, this is an all around shocking discovery for me, I wanted to love this game I really did but these social/ racist/ sexist extremists pushed their own views on the game purposely making the females less attractive and the animations made the character interaction the worst I have seen in pretty much forever and i've been gaming for 20~ years, from the characters and the team onto the game itself.

Now the combat feels a little less like a mass effect game and more like halo 1, lots of low-polly cover and the battlefields are fairly empty and not very interesting the combat is alright but the squads are now useless so if you enjoyed them being useful or if you even remember them being there then forget about it, they've ripped it out of the game. The worlds are barren of any kind of entertainment or appeal, the only saving grace of this game is most of the time it looks really good, it's like the had some really talented artists that just wanted to make the game for the players and the experience but was ultimately let down by a script written by a 5 year old, animations and voice acting that makes Tommy wiseau a master at delivering his lines, empty worlds, impenetrable menus, the most boring quests you'll ever see and SO MANY BUGS.

If this game stood alone I'd give it a 3.5/10 for the 40m spent on it and the time it took to come out however thats not the case due to the terrible nature of some of the team that worked on this game and the fact this is supposed to carry the torch from ME 1, 2 and 3 but honestly its not even playable in comparison.

my recommendation; don't waste your time or money on this game and go buy NieR: Automata or ME 1/ 2

What is wrong with the game (hint: everything that matters):

    1. Ridiculous, boring story that makes no sense whatsoever. Plot holes everywhere.
    2. Absolutely terrible fanfic-level writing.
    3. No even rudimentary speech-checks so you can't really fail anything.
    4. No meaningful choices and consequences.

    7. SJW crap starting from the multiple ugly feminazi running everything to the racist anti-white propaganda.
    8. Bugs galore.
    9. Terrible animations (even after the patch).
    10. Mediocre art direction.
    11. Mediocre VO.
    12. Mediocre music.
    13. Total lack of character customization.
    14. Atrocious UI.
    15 MMO type "tasks."
    16. Abuse of the certain "features" like scanning and jumping.
    17. Generic enemies that keep respawing immediately after you kill them, right in front of you.
    18. Idiotic, cumbersome crafting system.

In short, the game is made by SJW NON-professionals for SJW consumption. Epic fail.

lol, I can't believe they released this game with so many bugs. These people were banking on the franchise to just make money and I was a sucker to buy it. So frustrating to get stuck because of object interactions not working properly. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joke of a game, do not waste your money. they will penny and dime you for dlc, there is no season pass. Design team is a bunch of hypocrites, advocating social equality and racial equality yet turn around and post anti white sematic and 9/11 jokes on their social media accounts in the case of lead game designer Manveer Heir. There is no actual assortment of romantic encounters that promote equality, as a female there are only 2 humans you can romance that are male, Hispanic and African American. there are no Indians, Asians, Caucasians, ect. as the male character there are quite a few more options but there is no equality there. the character presets are absolutely horrible and the games character graphics are worse that mass effect 1. The game is horrible as it has a serious lack of emotion and there are a lot of bugs and the story is incredibly underdeveloped. This is 2017 there are so many standards that are in games now that are %100 expected and delivered artistically by every other major game company out there and Bioware should never be allowed an exception. They did not do their job and flat out wasted 5 years and 40 million dollars by selling everyone this joke of a game. Bioware Edmonton will have to take control of this game and fix Montreal's stupid social justice warrior pride statement into an actual game that is respectable. Stay away until the next one is announced or you get bored and they have actually finished rolling out the last DLC. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can't say enough to bring this game out of the sheer hole that it had dropped into. Think of yourself. You're on the precipice of a massive high point in an IP's lifespan and then you just jump. Folks weren't really happy with the ending of ME: 3 and the descent just continued from there. While this is Bioware Montreal's first endeavor, it was a flop. The animation is so poor that the first ME game looks better. The movements are jittery, the voice acting is lack-luster, and the only good feel you get out of this game is the combat and even that is lacking in many areas. Overall, while there is a long story line, it feels too basic, too blase.

You go to this new exciting place ready to explore. What happens? Oh look a galactic threat. This isn't the "adventure" that was promised. This isn't the new and exciting narrative that should of been. This is just another cookie cutter RPG splattered with a recognizable label and filled with SJW non-sense to try and keep it "current".

Yes the game has some high points. The environments look great, the lighting is pretty well done, and over-all the alien races remain true to their appearances.

But I just can't get over some of the horrible design decisions. The romance options continue to be abyssmal for same sex audiences, and the new alien races introduced look like feet and feet with barnacles. The model designers for your character obviously had "diversity" in mind, but its just so difficult to make anything that somewhat looks like a human being capable of showing emotion. The basic Sara Ryder model looks like she has high spectrum autism. The male Ryder looks like some noir M'lady or some hipster you'd find in a coffee shop in east LA.

Overall the design decisions were horrible. I can't possibly continue to berate how destroying this is for this franchise and honestly, I think Bioware and EA need to seriously consider their designers and team for well known IP's or they will continue to see a decline in their audience outside of the COD and sports crowd.

Thankfully, for multi-billion dollar monsters such as EA, people with skills can be bought and sold and put to work for whatever the corporate design demands, in order to influence the masses away from being effective.

The real-world wonder and discovery of extra-terrestrial life and technology is, most likely, filtered and manipulated by government and the aptly named "elite". In which case, Mass Effect: Andromeda does a great job as it mirrors the constant watering-down of our potential, for temporary monetary gain.

The question remains, why do key elements suffer on a $40 million blockbuster???

Starting with the worst and most restrictive character face editor I've ever encountered, it just goes downhill from there. The defaults all look like potatoes, and its practically impossible to change anything except in minor ways. No changing skin textures, eye shape, eyebrows, shape of nose, mouth, brow colour. It was only possible to create a white character by selecting the bottom preset face option and sliding the skin tone slider all the way to the left. So in effect, you've got one option. It was also impossible to save and retrieve the look of the character since the mass effect archive isn't working at the moment. Excellent.

So after that disaster it was into the game. There I immediately started experiencing all sorts of weird anomalies, with the character - neck stretching, warping and growing an adams apple(on a female) depending on how the character turned their head. For the NPC characters that didn't look god awful off the bat, there was a very strong uncanny valley effect. It just looks weird. And don't get me started on the eyes. Everyone looks like they're high on pseudo-ephedrine with massively dilated pupils. ugh. And the turians mouths with their detached flapping tongues...

Story wise, everything you've heard is true. The writing is terrible, with cliche'd companions and characters you just cant bring yourself to care about. I honestly just wanted to hand them over to the Kett or shoot them myself.

About the only redeeming features this game has is are the environments, which can look incredible, and the combat. But I'm not playing a Mass Effect game to shoot things. I'm playing it for the story, which is utter garbage. I gave up on this steaming pile after about 8 hours.

Character development and story progression (the core of the Mass Effect series) is at best average/acceptable for a developer of this size and with their wealth of experience. The dialogue is so cheesy and lame it is frankly embarrassing. The protagonist feels completely detached from everything going on, the team are not particularly engaging and there is no sense of investment and attachment in getting to know them. Although the game is large it does not feel as rich and well-crafted as other open world style RPG games that have come out over the last few years.

Graphics and animation quality are terrible with low res textures, janky movements and comically bad expressions. When compared with some recent 3rd person offerings such as Witcher 3 & The Division (and Battlefield which shares an engine with ME:A), the lack of quality is genuinely shocking.

The controls and movements feel sloppy and the user interface is an exceedingly unintuitive, overly complex mess which is irritating to navigate. The ability to control and customize squad mate combat has been removed making combat and involvement with the crew even less engaging.

Unavoidable in game cinematics when transitioning between the ship, planets and galaxy map are painfully tedious and serve as the icing on the cake that is Mass Effect Andromeda.

The AI is a mess. If the AI is bad in the first 10 hours, it's going to be bad throughout the game. There's no reason why it would suddenly magically improve later.

    5. Music/theme is okay but the timing and placement of it is BAD
    6. It has bigger open world and environment compare to previous ME's

    Cons :

    1. Player customisation is limited and horrible and ugly default face type available.
    2. The story line is predicted, shallow and boring. This is came from Inexperince writer and stupid game director.
    3. Horrible mission design which is tedious, not memorable and repetitive.
    4. Amateur and horrible camera angle and cutscene (almost 90% of all cutscene are garbage)
    5. All main characters , NPCs are all bland and unattractive at ALL, all of them. Dont ask me how i feel about them when im playing them/interact, i dont feel at all :)
    6. This game IS NOT an RPG story driven game, its an exploration and shooting game. The story is there but it has no impact on the game overall.

    - The voice acting is so bad it's almost like they intentionally wanted it to be horrible. Completely detached from what's going on.

    - SJW/brain damaged virtue signaling everywhere, absolutely everything reeks of it.

    - Insufferable cast of "look at at us we're diverse and not cis white men" jack-offs who couldn't possibly be more repugnant if the writers tried.

    - The writing is so poorly done that I don't believe it was written by anyone with any past experience.

I guess this is what happens when a team of experienced game producers quit and the jobs are given to psycho SJWs with zero past experience in the field whose only goal is to hate on white people. Turns out it makes for a pretty broken and unplayable game.

I've gathered some thoughts on this game after very negatively reviewing it and wondering why there is such dichotomy in the reviews. It seems people either love it or hate it with each referring to the other camp as "shills" presumably working for EA in the case of positive reviews or "haters not even playing it" in the case of negative reviews. I've even seen some claim that "Trump supporters" are intentionally writing negative reviews because of the SJW conspiracy. I think all these claims are largely bogus.

This installment moves ME more in the direction of a shooter with some RPG elements in it vs an RPG with some action elements in it, that's the big difference, shock for some, and welcome to others.

Now there are even more skill choices and flexibility in ME A than prior titles but skill choices does not make an RPG. Borderlands had a nice number of skills choices and too was primarily a shooter with RPG elements. ME A has more than that but is still very limp wristed on all other key RPG components.

ME1-3 were largely story driven. Even the combat was highly bound to the story - for example you were freeing the Citidel from a Cerberus takeover, you were protecting a colony from a Collector attack, you were securing a living Prothean "artifact" before the enemy could make off with it, etc... All the combat had a clear purpose and high urgency.

ME A: does not have urgency and it is exploration based. Besides the poor writing and VA, this is why the dialog and and characters seem flat, because there is little that is vital to discuss. Combat is largely something that happens BETWEEN quests and while exploring. In most places you don't clear areas, you kill some randomly generated enemies as you progress through zones and the dead bodies magically disappear and new enemies respawn as you move a few hundred yards away (just like DA I).

I think it's apples to oranges and why there is such polarity of reviews. If you enjoy a rich urgent story driven adventure where every aspect of the game, including combat, is tightly wound into the plot then, like me, you are probably going to hate this game.

If you enjoy combat just for the sake of combat, like wandering around killing monsters that constantly respawn and enjoy a little story added, then you're probably going to like this game, provided you can overlook the weaknesses such as the animation flaws, ugly characters, plot holes, poor dialog and poor voice acting.

    *** original review ***

    This game is awful.

BioWare clearly does not understand the difference between chores and compelling quests. It's obvious they went for quantity, of everything, over quality, eg. lots of stupid dialog vs less that is interesting and well thought out. Lots of grindy combat vs fewer but more exciting and more meaningful engagements. Lots of repetitive side quests vs fewer that have meaning in the context of the story line and advance it in some way.

The list of failures is long:
    - boring story line
    - flat simplistic dialog full of cliches and stupid one liner jokes
    - repetitive grindy combat (despite some fun new additions to combat)
    - removal of the situational awareness aspect of combat that made ME 2/3 combat unique
    - intentionally and severely uglified NPCs, main character, and squadmates to meet the fancy of some perverse non-gaming fringe feminist group that believes having attractive people in vid games is offensive and oppressive
    - I love the fact these games appeal in a gender and orientation neutral way but I'm not looking for vid games with PC lessons shoe-horned in, this game is chock full of it
    - lots of looking for stupid glyphs and solving suduko puzzles which are simply not fun, the econo model of quest completion from a lazy development team
    - un-creative dorky looking cliche new alien species
    - some of the worst facial animations in video game history, many faces do not move above the lips regardless of the emotions conveyed
    - flat voice acting as if they had no idea of the context of the story in which they were reading their lines
    - repetitive animations to do anything such as flying between clusters/planets and no way to skip them

I am an RPG fan and now formerly BioWare fan. This is second much anticipated (by me) game that I've gotten but will not even complete (the other being the almost equally rotten and boring DA: I). I've put 65 hrs in it and tried to like it but it is just too boring to finish.

I am done with BioWare, they have lost their way. Maybe its EA. Perhaps like Disney buying Pixar and Marvel, the edge is taken off and the corporate machine takes over, replacing art and creativity with boring corporate form.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a colossal failure and sure to disappoint!

Andromeda had twice the development time of any of the other games and a far larger budget, yet the game felt lazier, sloppier. You've probably seen the countless articles talking about the terrible facial animations but they're only the tip of the iceberg. Throughout 9 hours of playtime I had the game crash twice, countless graphical glitches (bizarre model clipping, models snapping to T-positions etc.) and sporadic framerate drops (from around 100 fps to 20 for several seconds).
Gameplay-wise, I will admit that the combat feels more fluid than the previous games, but who the **** plays Bioware games for the combat? Every side mission was a massively boring side quest. The dialogue options are completely pointless as every decision is essentially the same thing but worded differently. Some of the voice acting was VERY questionable and none of the voice actors seemed like actual professionals. The characters were very difficult to empathise with, largely due to the fact that their facial expressions never match the tone of what they are saying. I haven't tried out the multiplayer yet because I was intending to play with my friends, but none of them are willing to buy the game and I honestly can't blame them.

As someone who has 300 hours on Mass Effect 2 alone, I don't see anything that I liked in the original trilogy in this game. It all just seems like a cheap cash-in on the Mass Effect name.

Between the terrible story, boring and ugly characters, garbage plot and "villains", there is no reason to play this game at all. If you decide to do so anyways, you are gifted with abundantly bad facial animations, bugs, and graphical glitches

Continuing the multiplayer from ME3, this game put a greater emphasis on this aspect and yet still uses p2p connections. This limits the viability of playing with friends at any real-world distance and since there is no ensuring the quality of the host's connection (anyone can establish a game and can then be host to other players searching for random matches) you'll find yourself iceskating on the maps- that is if your game does not crash in one of the latest rounds. things that look like they may provide cover do not, some that do are total cheese spots and give you the magical ability to shoot through what should be otherwise impossible angles. and in reverse may just get you killed because you'll shoot the inanimate blockade you've chosen while staring down an enemy that can now shoot through aforementioned rock/wall. theres really no safety while moving in this auto cover system, because seemingly Ryder will magically have enough of this **** and just stand strait up to change directions and be met in kind with an auto aim, perfect firing line accuracy the enemy possesses from a quarter of a mile away using their smg/assault rifles .

you too possess a smg assault rifle but i think your manufacturer may have left out any type of recoil compensation or rather Ryder being an elite trained operative was never tested on how well his grouping had been. so far as i can tell, all the abilities are the exact same from ME1, 2, &3. that may be a bonus for you, for me its a rather dull repetitive experience.

voice acting seems to have been done in a studio far removed from the game dev team, being that whatever script was given to these poor souls had no descriptors on wtf was actually going on in any of these scenes. the emotional inflection or lack there of seems to plague about 90% of all game content..

IMO most of the level designs seem a jumbled mess of procedural generated assets that the devs kept randomizing until they felt the cobbled together mess was considered playable. some of this is a true eyesore. But in all i think the most telling thing of this whole cash cow "member berry" experience (that i myself am not removed from) Is the lead designer of this project, you should watch out for these type of people, and no, I'm not referring to any type of race or ethnicity. rather a moral corrupt narcissist that believes the legitimate concerns of his fan base are to be blamed on the color of their skin rather than the evidence provided that he and his development team did in fact ship us **** and alot of it.

he screams racism because you don't like the cringe worthy animations, narrow character customization, bad voice acting, graphical down grades, laggy controls and 80s action movie narritive, while without fans like you he wouldn't have had a job (and a damn good one at that), that gave him the ability to slag off a lead designer position in the first place. But just remember its not his fault, he made a good game, and if you dont think so your probably just a white racist, "writes this native american"

but don't believe so, anyone who does a bad job and blames it on everyone else, well, we have a title for them, its called **** bag". btw, aforementioned lead designer was fired from his position and now leads an indie gaming company. feel free to check out any upcoming titles from him. Lol. No. How this studio got away with putting out this broken, unfinished, half-baked, over-budgeted mess of a game is beyond me. Mass Defect. Embarrassment to the saga. I'd have considered this game retrievable if it weren't for the fact that the flaws lay in the fundamental game mechanics, voice dialogue, facial expressions/animations, user interface, lackluster story line... I think you get the idea.

I am a real fan of the Mass Effect series. I really wanted this game to be good but it just is not. The writing is the worst I have ever heard in a game. The voices are just pathetic. The Krogan should have deep bold voices but they all sound lame. I heard one Krogan who had a normal unfiltered voice. The bad animation is the least worse thing about this game. It is so bugged out.

Poorly written, badly animated, superficial and static in some aspects with nonsensical story and a good few steps backwards from it's predecessors. As many other fans I went into the fray to pre-order Andromeda but recently got to play the 10 hours access on Origin and I have to say I am very disappointed. Andromeda forgot the basics, forgot it's roots and most importantly forgot how to be the the lead defining genre game that it was in the past.

I'll have to skip this one and I'm not even sure I will pay for such a thing even when it goes all the way down to 2 euros brand new on the bay like the others from the series. Yeah. It's that bad.

    What a letdown.

It is horrible. No plot, no heroes, no action. Boring and disguisting simulatinuous.
I was ready that it will not be even close to original trilogy but when I've started the game... I don't have proper words to describe my feelings.

Please change the title of this game so that people could never associate it with the original Trilogy:

    - Very poor writing! I mean, VERY POOR!
    - Amateur dialogues. They seem so shallow.
    - Plastic appearance of the characters. I need badass epic realistic, authentic characters, not children.
    - Many characters look like caricatures. children, no badass heroes.
    - Music is very average. It doesn't give the same "KICK in the Ass.
    - Hire great musician, not ameteurs.
    - Next time hire Cris Velasco & Sascha Dikiciyan, Clint Mansell, Sam Hulick, Jack Wall and the rest of the people they worked with. They know how to the things RIGHT.
    - The real problem with dialogue system is that choice "either puts you on the same route with the same quest objective or just nets you a "come back later if you change your mind mane" response. Illusion of choice.
    - Artificial poor voice acting.
    - Akward animations.
    - Generally, lots of artificiality in this game. It feels CHEAP and Shallow!

I think EA should focus on FIFA and Need for Speed franchises and drop all the other ones. the game is a travesty. got 10 hours trial but the game was so boring and ugly I deleted it after an hour. I don't know how can a studio comes up with such a bad animation, graphics, story and game-play

DO NOT BUY. WASTER OF MONEY

It's been a 10 years since first Mass Effect came out and i cannot believe how much worse this instalment is compared to previous ones and i dont want to compare this turd to the first trilogy and by the way first one was and still is THE best SciFi opera videogame i have ever played. Anyway let's get to some goods and lots of bads:

    Pros :
    - kinda beautiful planets, thanks to Frostbite
    - combat which i must admit is fun
And keep in mind it's not the same team who made MA 1 and hell not even 2nd or 3rd one.

    (-) Horrible story
(-) Never-ending, often boring side missions which require you to progress main story
    (-) Unskippable animations
(-) Your decisions have almost no impact
(-) Bad writting, poor voice acting, awful facial animations, flat characters
(-) After a while very repeatable

    (+) Combat can be fun

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The main problem is the fact that this game focused on making money, by selling it to consoles, everything else derives from that. People that complain about voice not being synced with the lips, are dumb, because it was before release. They patched it before the release. The problem is how most characters are ugly, everyone has retarded eye lashes. Your main female companion and rival is a lesbian ugly trash with 2016 shaved on sides haircut. Why? Because politically correct Bioware. The only cute human is a religious girl, because we're in a game like ME and she's religious. And a scientist, lmao. Men? Men are hot and you can flirt with any of them as a male Ryder. Thanks PC culture. You get a turian female. Wow. Female turian?? And she's the most interesting and "cute". The asari have "fat" looking faces and thus become unattractive, they are boring and bland, unlike the previous games, where I'd chose Liara or any asari dancer, commando, over long haired Miranda and Ashley (well, girls now don't even have long hair).

Ok enough about partners and **** Chat is **** consider Fallout 4 but worse. Fallout had day1 mods because it's Bethesda. So the chat was fixed. This one is more like "retarded comment that makes you look whiny and stupid" or "retarded whiny comment that makes you look like you're trying hard to sound big, but aren't". Basically the kid of the most badass human they had, the dad gives his life for him and he's too **** stupid to be sure of anything, even if you chose the "I am sure" reply, because basically he'll say "I think I'm sure" instead. Because **** comments and long lines where you can read on your huge mother**** 4K screen, nah, we're making this for 900p consoles (yea yea bla bla, consoles have higher resolutions now, I doubt that the numbers you see there, match the actual resolution or that you can actually tell, when you're not sitting 40cm from your monitor like I am, but you are used to ****ty graphics from a distance, on your console). Then you have the issue with high requirements on your PC. Like your CPU is under high load, why? And your GPU kinda, also. Basically they added small physx elements, like the cape on some alien is slowly moving in the wind as you talk to him, to add load on your system so that your graphics aren't way too good compared to their main market : console plebs. Cuz we wouldn't want to upset them, now would we.
Before you say my PC is **** or anything, I run at 1440p maximum settings at 60fps. At 4K the drops are too annoying and the movement seems way to slow and ****ty, even Witcher 3 moves better and dropping from 50 to 40 impacts too much.
Now to the story, linear. Nothing to do, you just follow the quest. Making science and farming over military? At this point I am at, it makes 0 difference. Releasing people from cryogenic stasis? Yea it impacts a lot. NOT IN A IMMERSIVE WAY BUT **** THAT, YOU GOT PERKS LIKE IN DRAGON AGE INQUISITION, WHICH IS GREAT BUT IT'S NOT IMMERSIVE, IT'S ****TY DESIGNED AND YOU MOSTLY HAVE MILITARY PERKS. Thanks Bioware. I'd like it more if our people were stronger or you actually got **** done. Plus I love how the trading works before you meet new races: you got **** you need to pay for even though you're the pathfinder and mostly the only one doing **** or being in danger. So they have connection with independent miners and exiles and what? Are you **** stupid? Either make no traders available from the start and give free gear or **** make more aliens available to trade with from the start. Nah, that would mean they would have to invent a whole new race and a huge new story, how would they make dlc without those? Why explore a system (besides achievement and some ****ty quest) when all you **** get is 40 minerals in a huge **** 20000 km wide planet or you discover a **** vulcano and get 300 exp, a vulcano on a lava filled planet? What the **** what anomaly is that, do you understand what anomaly means?? Or how do you detect 40 **** minerals in an asteroid field or how do you explore a black hole? Basically you have a 10 light years system and your sensor are so good, you find a **** "huge deposit" of 40 **** minerals. Wow. You mine more on the ground, manually, from one vein, and there are several veins. What the **** what is the point of scanning and **** anyway? ME2 you had to get a ****load of materials and used them for research and **** now? Nope. You have a ****ty hand scanner that looks like garbage and blocks your view to scan **** for tech. Nice. The only good thing about it is the combat and multiplayer.

EDIT: They stopped support to this game. There are game breaking bugs, I had to restart my PC after a crash, nothing else would work. You need to reduce graphics just for the sake of the game not crushing and this issue was known for months. Not fixed. **** them and their garbage.

Postcard-pretty landscapes is pretty much all that there is good about Andromeda. They serve as backdrops for a boring, cliche-ridden, somewhat demented story with forgettable characters and even more forgettable missions.

Enough of the classic Mass Effect, with enough new mechanics to keep the game fresh. [Hollingworth; Issue#261, p.55]

An earnest attempt has been made to create a new identity for a series here, but the question of how to best frame Mass Effect's narrative strengths is, once again, left open. [June 2017, p.90]
