Even with new things once in a while thrown at you; there were the same objectives in each room feel to it repeated over and over again. Thankfully the different enemy, and the area map looks provide a bit of change, but not by much. For a pick up and play and walk away distraction Hexodius fits the bill and is a solid arcade game.

The story is boring, the action not fast-paced enough. And in the end even the good ideas like the boss fights, the upgrades and the nonlinear dimension structure are all in vain.

If you have a hankering for some twin stick fun on the PC go play Geometry Wars or Waves. They're far much better than this game.

Hexodius is the kind of game that you’re likely to forget a week after finishing it. That is, if you're not bored to tears by the time you do finish it. Trust me when I say that there are many more experiences that are better worth your time and money, because this is the kind of game that will make you ask yourself “Why did I buy this again?”

The addition of the utterly pointless narrative and the run-of-the-mill gameplay just make this game unnecessary. Sure it kills some time and is, on occasion, enjoyable, but if it had dropped the dead weight it could have achieved much more.

Hexodius’ dungeon sections aren’t involved enough to offer interesting choices or exploration, but last just long enough to qualify as clunky menu screens.

Usually games that recommend the controller before you even start playing, really grind my gears. However, With this one after trying both settings. I'm glad I got that message for a change, because with keyboard and mouse it was next to impossible to play.

The game is great fun and highly addictive, but from what I can see, not very popular on steam. I don't know why this is as its a fantastic game. You have a story mode, and a traditional arcade mode (with leaderboards everyone. Yes. You can own your friends). The story mode follows a very basic story and has several objectified missions to get to a dimensional portal at the end of the zone. There is plenty to do. And you get rewarded for exploring all the map with bonus unlocks and bonus health items.

Your ship is also fully customisable with whatever powers you desire from the menu, different combinations will give you different pro's and cons of course, but work out whats good for you.

The soundtrack to this game in my opinion is rather good, but gets slightly repetitive when you've been in the same zone for a while.

All in all, Hexodius is a great and addictive twin stick shooter, and there is a lot on offer if you try to give it the time of day. I give Hexodius a 8/10.
