An absurdly entertaining open world playground that’s at its best when it breaks away from script. Shame about those tailing missions.

A worthy purchase certainly, but only if you’re prepared to accept Far Cry 3.5 rather than Far Cry 4.

It also runs great on PC, where the higher potential resolution and better image quality really stands out. That's the version to play, if you have a PC that's capable of running it properly.

It's Far Cry 3 sporting a likable psychotic antagonist and a less douchy protagonist. Baby steps by Ubisoft, but steps none-the-less. [Jan 2015, p.60]

It takes what the last game did, and makes it better, but at the same time it's because of this that it doesn't break new ground.

For all its visual appeal, however, Far Cry 4 remains a shallow experience. It has loads of things in it, but having a lot of things is not the same thing as having depth. With a vapid story, activities that rely more on regurgitation than anything else, and a campaign that is exciting only for as long as you can ignore how insincere it all is, this is a game that affects a meaningful experience, rather than manage to be one.

The game is actually really good. It performs really well, and it is a lot of fun. If you enjoyed Far Cry 3, you will like this one aswell. And well, unlike AC Unity this one actually works. ;)

The main thing people are saying about it is that it's Far Cry 3.5, which is definitely not true. I have played Far Cry 3 when it first dropped, beat the story and all the side missions and collected all the collectibles and I thought it was amazing and was really excited for the next iteration, and it is safe to say I wasn't disappointed at all. This game has the best graphics I have ever seen in a video game, even better than Metro LL in my opinion. The gameplay is amazing with tons of things to do from hunting animals for upgrades to collecting plants for syringes to killing thugs for.... Justice! The environment is also the best I have ever seen, you can randomly see alligators killing deer near the lakes to wolves hunting yaks to even eagles hunting pigs AND FLYING AWAY WITH THEM! The game gives you the option for stealth gameplay (which is very polished and robust) to action packed fun. The story and the characters are the main downfall of the game but they are still serviceable. Overall this game is a must, especially if you liked Far Cry 3. Expand

FC4 is an open world shooter with emergent behaviors, and is generally fun to play.

This game seems more like an expansion of FC3 rather than a brand new game. If you loved FC3, want more of the same, then FC4 may be for you If you have friends to play coop shooters with that have FC4, FC4 may be an even better choice.

Needless to say, if you didn't like FC3 you are probably not going to like this game.

When Assassin's creed first introduced overlooks as a way to scope out the surrounding area and unlock side missions they were really cool and innovative, many iterations and several franchises later its just another tired mechanic.

The high point of the game for me was the whole tug of war between Sabal and Amita for the direction of the Golden Path. There wasn't a clear cut choice for which direction was the "right" one. Do you take the idealistic route and try to live up to the high expectations placed upon you and side with Sabal or do you take the side of Amita who makes good, well reasoned arguments and has a clear plan for the future? Unfortunately, those missions are few and far between and this dynamic between Sabal and Amita never shows up in the game in any meaningful way.

It was too easy and the hand holding was unbearable. I was going to skip Far Cry 4 and someone told me they QTEs are gone and you can disable all the hand holding items (minimap, etc...).

This game is WAY too easy, you can't make it hard. It's so easy, it's boring. I thought it might get better. Then it happened. I recovered some supplies and suddenly I have 2 minutes and 10 seconds to get them somewhere they needed to go.

I uninstalled Uplay and both FC3 and FC4. I'll keep Far Cry 2, it was the best of the bunch.
