Look im a serious gamer. I own over 400 games on steam and I'm picky when it comes to quality. Listen I havent had any issues in Fallout 76. No glitches, no problems. Yes the FOV is stuck and yes i have a 144hz monitor but I cant get over 60 fps but none of these issues has done anything to stop my enjoyment. If you don't like Fallout 4 or Bethesda games

I wish somethings were better but its basically Fallout 4 with friends. Yes its missing some of the magic like settlements and NPC quest givers but honestly its pretty amazing. Is it a perfect game no. But don't listen to these haters. Try it for yourself.

Fallout 76 is a remarkable merriment for the thinking processor manifesto. Todd Howard, without a doubt, brought forth a commodity that veritable Fallout aficionados unequivocally hankered after. This is a considerably superincumbent computerized diversion in contradistinction to New Vegas, which possessed nothing but macadam and imperceptible ramparts on the extraneous peripheries.

Thank you for ruining the Fallout game series. After a good Fallout 3 and great New Vegas, the disgusting Fallout 4 came out, and now you have released it ... Around solid bugs. The game looks like a low-quality mod to Fallout 4. One of the worst games I've played.

feels and looks like a 2009 game.. seriously. ugly textures, character design from the early ps3 era, boring, lifeless, awful shooting mechanics, runs like ass, *COSTS 60$*

now Fallout 4 was meh but atleast it had some story and choices (some) it was just as ugly, but here? its all the bad parts of 4 without any of the good.

    Pretty good casual game.
In this game you can really play and have fun. But technically, the game is very bad. A lot of bugs. Very few new items and mechanic in contrast to the F4. The game is not tuned for multiplayer. I do not know what the developers have been doing for 4 years, but definitely not the work. I’ll add: terrible organization and zero support to the player

This is PvE Rust with a Fallout Skin. Rushed, Unoptimized, but it does look great graphically.

PvP is "Enabled" but you are only punished for it. 'Pacifists' Take 2% of the damage you deal, and every hit generates wanted. Once you have wanted, they deal full damage to you while remaining invulnerable.

I've yet to see anyone but my group of friends in non-pacifist mode. Once you have wanted generated the pacifists can murder you from pacifist mode, dealing full damage to you with actually no risk to themselves.

My party ganked a group of two (The group we ganked was level 10, we three were all level 8), and it actually devolved down to us standing in a triangle around one of them (theres 3 of us) and hitting them with melee weapons for 2 minutes until they finished complaining about how pvp is going to ruin this game, then logged out.

Not including the time we spent ganking them before we realized we actually do no damage, 2 minutes of constant melee damage, from 3 players, and they still just logged out to avoid the pvp (they weren't even in danger of dying). About 10 minutes later we had someone else roll up to assist us with an event, he one tapped one of our players, then returned to the event while me and our other friend who were still wanted attacked him.

He said he was taking very little damage, but neither me nor my other wanted friend even saw his health bar as we attacked him. This too, devolved to us hitting him with melee weapons to conserve ammo as he went about finishing the event. (It was a hold out event where we had to defend against waves of scorched, he took more damage from the scorched than us, but we wouldn't have known that had he not been saying it over voice, we couldn't see his hp bar as we attacked.)

After he finished soloing the event while we hit him, he turned and killed my other friend. And I just walked back to my camp that wasn't very far and logged out. This was a terrible experience, not in the slightest bit enjoyable.
I don't understand why even 'allow' pvp if you're not going to allow pvp. If they wanted this to be a PvE game, why even allow someone to disable pacifist mode?

A total money grab. Buggy and broken. Bethesda just re released the fallout 4 engine and skimped in every way possible (no NPC == less expenses). Looking at how Skyrim and Fallout 4 both have game breaking bugs known since their launches I do not expect this game to get much better. An absolute waste of money.

This game is not finished and... certainly not Fallout. It feels like some fan coded a mod to play Fallout 4 as an empty MMO. It fails terribly at single-player as there is no story. For some reason, EVERYONE recorded a holotape before they died and left it out on a table for you to find. Then you get to play a loot simulator while professional voice actors try and make the experience interesting. It's not.
There is no challenge, so multiplayer has no real point other than to run around randomly shooting respawns and looting with friends.
Nothing feels like it makes any sense and this beautifully rendered world is devoid of any immersion. This is not Fallout.
I've spawned under the world twice and I've crashed to desktop multiple times.
Always on Mics just let you hear people clicking their keyboards or hearing them argue with children or parents or spouses in their home. It's uncomfortable. I don't understand why anyone thought this would be a good idea. "Hell is other people" and why I play games like Fallout to begin with.
    This is not Fallout.
Leveling up and perks are handled in a random bizarre way and feel toothless.
Seriously feels like it should be a Free-To-Play game, but Bethesda charged a AAA price.
    With Microtransactions.

Leaving all the bugs and issues aside, it's just not much fun to play. I was on the beta, started again with a new character, so have not got past level 8 yet, so maybe it gets better. But so far it is just a lot of micromanagement of inventory, and searching around for locations to scrap junk. Very slow progression like ESO, but just not a lot of interesting stuff to do.

To everyone reading this, ask yourself this question now: Is there any element from my Fallout 76 experience that stood out in any positive way?
My answer: no. There wasn't a single positive element of this game that made me go "wow", made me excited, or immersed me completely in the moment. Not one. Onto the review:

Note: None of the mechanical or performace elements are based on the B.E.T.A.
Note 2: it's just my personal experience of the game, this won't include things like the "security" debacle that seems to be full swing (I haven't had any security issues yet)
Note 3: This game may have "Fallout" in it's title, but I won't be comparing it to other Fallout games (except the lore), it's just too different.
So let's break down each element into a summed up review:

Story: There isn't one. There really isn't.

Lore: Butchered. So much in this contradicts previously established lore. You can handle things being retconned if there is a legitimate and justified story/narrative reason for doing so. Bethesda has changed things just so that they can shove enemies, symbols and other things that tickle your nostalgia into the game for zero justifiable reasons. In my personal opinion this is the WORST part of the entire game, because it not only ruins my fun in this game, but potentially ruins my ability to enjoy the previous games because of the changes.

NPC's: There aren't any. There really aren't. You get a couple of robots that aren't utterly lifeless. That's it.

Quests: Every single quest in this game feels like a randomly generated fetch quest. It's that bad.

World/Worldbuilding: Reasonable, I'd give them a point for this if it wasn't completely ruined by the overwhelming feeling of emptiness you experience as you run around. Perhaps if there were more players, like 3-4x as many players per server, things would be better. But that's speculation, and there isn't.

Combat: Mechanically fine, one of the few things that doesn't immediately frustrate you. Not great or revolutionary though, just fine. You will however likely get totally bored with killing the same few enemies hundreds of times over. Made worse by the respawn rate of enemies meaning in the space of half an hour you can clear the same area of the same enemies as many as 5 times. It's clear they tried to fix this by adding the unique bosses/spawns, but it simply doesn't do enough as they are too few and far between.

Ambiance/Environment: good at times. Perhaps the only element of this entire game that you could say was good, and that's only some of the time. Graphical bugs break what little good environment building exists.

Graphics: antiquated in 2015 when Fallout 4 came out, now they're ancient.
-One of my friends has ultra widescreen and there's no support for it at all, meaning the resolution is forced to full still. What does that mean? The whole game is stretched on his monitor making it virtually unplayable.

Performance: terrible. I have an above-average PC and my FPS is terrible, but considering Bethesda limits your FPS to 62.5 Maximum, I'm not missing out on much. I haven't crashed yet, so that's new in a BGS game. Others probably aren't so lucky.

UI/Controls: ported from console, downright unusable at times. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I've been complaining about this for YEARS. There is no excuse for this anymore. Bethesda should be making proper PC HUDs and UIs.
-PIPboy HUD is immersive and totally fine in a singleplayer game. Not at all in a game where you can't pause when it opens. It is too slow to navigate and might lead to you getting killed constantly if the game was even remotely difficult.

Difficulty: Once you get to level 6 or 7, you basically become invincible. Not joking. Just ignore where you're supposed to go, and go kill enemies 3-4x your level. I did. Maybe you can't do this with a controller, but with a mouse and keyboard there is no challenge for me.

PvP/multiplayer: I can't even start talking about this without getting upset and going on a rant. I'll just say this: the worst PvP system I have ever seen in my life.

PvE/multiplayer: The only other redeeming quality of this game. You can pop a few beers and have fun with friends laughing at bugs, terrible writing and other players doing/saying dumb things.

The saving grace of Bethesda games up to this point is the skilled and dedicated Modding community coming in and fixing the deficits of the product. Not only does this game not have real modding capability, but it's not a base game that inspires people to spend hundreds of hours fixing things.

    Plus sides:
+The occasional fun moment with some friends, that wears off in the first couple of hours though.
+The occasional environment or ambient or setting

    Negatives:
    - Just about everything else.

Final Score: 2/10, and that's generous. As much as it saddens me to say this about anything Fallout: just save your money.

If you want to experience Fallout with your friends and enjoy bethesda's only good type of storytelling, visual and world-based, then this game has that in spades and you should get it.

Ignore the negative reviews complaining about the lack of NPCs (they're robots but they exist), lack of story (it's got one actually alright, not great but no fallout game has a "great" story, not even New Vegas. It's better than 3/4's stories at least), and bugs (There are some; personally the only one I've experienced myself that hurts the game is it muting all of the audio but fo76 on my pc, and one t-posing ghoul).

Fallout 76 Is by no means the best game in the series; that honour still goes to New Vegas, but it's not the dumpster fire some would have you believe. For starters, exploring Appalachia with your friends is a blast, but you can still go it alone. When you wander off from the starting areas, it truly feels like a Fallout game; you feel alone (unless you're traveling with friends) and diving into ruins feels just as harrowing as ever.
The new enemies are welcomed as well as the returning ones, and though some are very difficult to take out unless you're prepared you can win alone. Crafting has gone through a drastic improvement; you can craft ammo once again, and armour and weapons are leveled, meaning that when you learn the blueprint of a weapon you can craft it at a higher level. Additionally, scrapping weapons will reward you with new mods (though you will require a specific perk in the INT tree to make the better ones) for that weapon on top of the materials that make it up. The same applies to armour. Power armour has been reworked; it can be customized as in Fallout 4, but you may now store it in your pack as in 3 and New Vegas. Gunplay is slightly improved from 4, which was a grand improvement on 3 and NV's gunplay, and the weapons sound powerful; they're a joy. Without spoiling much, story is now delivered through the only way Bethesda can do it without writing Fallout 3's story again; through the environment and through holotapes and notes. The quests you go on paint a picture of a wasteland stripped of humanity, and it's up to you to find out why and stop whatever's causing it. Well, you and your friends and fellow 76 residents. You can play solo as I mentioned, but playing with friends is recommended to get the full experience; with the new perk system, you can also swap out perks with ease to suit your playstyle. Playing alone? Add Lone Wanderer and become a solo badass. Playing with friends? Grab Bodyguard and beef yourself and your friends up for the fight. With enough CHA, you can share a perk with friends. The Survival aspects make this a key feature; sharing Dromedary means your whole squad can go longer without a drink and as almost all water is irradiated or full of disease now, having that can be a boon. Still, the survival aspects aren't overwhelming to a new player; you don't need to sleep but you do need to eat and drink, though food is very common if you gather wood and kill animals. There are colourful NPCs; they aren't human, they explain why in-universe if you do some digging, but they are still fun. If you want to know what I mean, head to Grafton; you'll meet quite the eccentric character.

Overall, Fallout 76 is a solid 6-7/10 if played solo; it's not the best in the series, but it's better than the abysmal failure that Fallout 4 proved to be. If you play with friends, especially if you use an external chat client like Discord, it's easily an 8/10. Finding new places and exploring them as a group is rewarding and challenging and a complete and utter blast of a time.

There are bugs; your mileage may vary in which ones affect you, but I've experienced very few of the ones my friends have. If you're hesitant, wait a few weeks and see if the bugs get patched out and get it cheap elsewhere via a key.

If you seriously cannot stand the thought of ever meeting another player, wait until the Private servers drop in early 2019; then you can lock yourself away in a private server and be as antisocial as you want while you experience the second-best story in the entirety of the 3d Fallout series (Behind NV, but ahead of 3 and leagues beyond 4) told in a way that forces you to seek it out. Or don't; it's your call. I've played since day 1 of the beta and I'm only now getting to the main story quests. That's the kind of game this is, and if that doesn't scream Fallout to you, then I'm not sure what does.

This game is incredibly empty with no real npc's to interact with, workbenches and the like that can only be utilized by a single player at a team leading to waiting in line for the chance to do anything, player collision systems that stop players from moving through each other making it so that people who stop in door ways stop everyone else from entering the building. Monsters spawn far to frequently and attack based solely on seeing a player, meaning trolls simply lead large groups of monsters into populated areas and let them loose on unsuspecting players and also causes players to basically be penalized for actively trying to explore instead of just following where the game actively leads you. On top of that the story, if you want to call it that, is really, really lazy and poorly done. It honestly might as well not even be there. Now we can get to the best part, that the game is a buggy mess! This truly is a failure in every way. If you want a good fallout experience but have completed 4 then go back and play 1,2,tactics, 3 or NV. This game isn't

Emotional holo-tapes (some several minutes long), notes, hand-written journals, terminal logs, and sentient robots all shed light on what life was like for past, pre-war inhabitants. Many times, their grim stories will even kick off a variety of small quests. It's a far cry from other survival games like Rust, Conan Exiles, DayZ, and Ark Survival that don't even HAVE quests, let alone much backstory. From what I've seen of the survival genre, the sole fact that FO76 is NOT Early Access already has me hooked.

Overall, aside from a few graphical bugs I've encountered, I've had a ton of fun surviving, exploring, fighting different enemies, building my own mini-base, and uncovering crazy secrets on the map. Even though it's not your traditional single-player Fallout RPG, the amount of content and systems at play in FO76 is staggering for an online survival MMO and can keep you and your friends occupied for weeks. If you're into PvE and Roleplay the West Virginia hills are vast and filled with NPC monsters for hunting and looting. If you're into PvP, there are always good bounties waiting on Hunter/Hunted Station radio.

Some sage advice from an old arcade player, if you're ever not sure whether a modern game is worth it's full price, rate it at $1 an hour. If you can get 60 hours of game-play from a $60 retail game, it's well worth it in my old-school, coin-operated book.

Awesome game. Love the exploration. Love the storytelling. Love the character building. Love the world. Looking forward to playing this until Starfield or TES V comes out.

This game deserves all the hate it's getting.

A horrible buggy mess as expected from Bugthesda, they also changed a lot of the lore from this 21 year old game series. They decided to do one of the most anti consumer things you can do to a game, make it online only and it backfired. Sorry to see you go fallout, it was fun while it lasted.

I don't really understand what the intent was with this game? Like, they did everything they could to bring in elements that the community was actively shouting that they didn't want, all while ignoring taking corrective actions for all the requests the community made from Fallout 4.

Bugs that had been in 4 since launch made their way into 76. When 4 launched, most people were very vocal about their displeasure with NPC interactions being pre-recorded and bland, so in 76 they just took away NPC interactions entirely.

In favor of what? Nothing says immersion like server disconnects and some random a-hole shouting at me over his mic and punching me in the head in the first five minutes of creating my character.

There is just an absolute truckload of bugs and disappointments in this title which the community can't even fix, which is traditionally how all of those problems got fixed.

I LOVE Fallout 3 and NV and even 4 holds a special place in my heart, but this is really quite bad for a multitude of reasons. People are voting it 10s because for some reason they're so brainwashed into the brand they feel the need to defend Bethesda, but I just don't understand how they can't see how obvious of a cash-grab this is?

It's just an enormous disappointment and as a huge fan of the last three it makes me super depressed. It's more of a world I want to play in, presented in a fashion that makes me absolutely hate it.

Let me just preface this mini review by saying I've played nearly every Bethesda game since Daggerfall and between the Fallout series and the Elder Scrolls series have claimed half of my top 10 games of all time....that being said...heres what i think if Fallout 76 so far...it DOES NOT support 21:9 aspect ratios...which for me and several others i know is already enough to not play theLet me just preface this mini review by saying I've played nearly every Bethesda game since Daggerfall and between the Fallout series and the Elder Scrolls series have claimed half of my top 10 games of all time....that being said...heres what i think if Fallout 76 so far...it DOES NOT support 21:9 aspect ratios...which for me and several others i know is already enough to not play the game, but not only does it not play in my native resolution but in my case it doesnt even stretch to fit the screen, its just plays in the corner, even if i switch to fullscreen....so just for kicks i let it play at 2560x1440 in a window in the corner...and at Ultra settings, the game looks TERRIBLE, poor textures, and blurring all over everything, especially distant objects and landscape...the graphics look like it got ported from an Xbox360....and to make matters even worse, there are very few adjustments i can make to the settings, and cant change FOV, Antialiasing, motion blur, post proccessing, lighting, shadows, (other than distance) depth of field, etc...it ligit looks looks like a straight console port with no change to anything and it assumes your only using a single 16:9 mediocre monitor....maybe they will fix all this or at least some of it in the coming days/weeks, but until then i will not play this game anymore, it hurts my damn eyes its so bad...i swear Oblivion looks as good...and at least that scales to 3440x1440...sorry Bethesda, I love you guys, but until you modernize your game/s i cant play your latest one and i wont buy any more until i know you can make a proper PC game...really sucks, i was looking forward to playing this for months on end and i even preordered the Tricentennial Edition, and i RARELY preorder games anymore....the game did seem to play fairly smoothly i will so though, and the lack of NPCs didnt really bother me, or maybe i just didnt get far enough into the game to care...it just looks like garbage in 2018 and doesnt support more modern hardware. Whether you're playing this with friends or alone it defiently is a miss. The world is empty and small, impotent enemies, poor AI, and no sense of realistic survivability. The perk card system is a poor replacement on the previous perk system. The gun modification system has been greatly dumbed-down and is more irrelevant. The CAMP feature is not fun, uncreative, and rage inducing. TheWhether you're playing this with friends or alone it defiently is a miss. The story and quests are actually not there and more shallow than what one would think at first look. And the community is toxic, hostile, and overall what a racist white male community typically is like. Theres room for things to be worse of course, but I cannot see how. If it isn't it right now, the game surely will be a huge failure after a few updates. Defeiently a miss. Expand

Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
