Jul 23, 2023Exoprimal is a definitely original PvEvP, with various game modes capable of ensuring ever-changing matches, although undoubtedly the most exciting are those in which there are direct clashes with the opposing team. The story is enjoyable to follow, and it would be no problem to discover it little by little, if this did not also affect the options available during multiplayer. This way, the game does not show its full potential right away, almost as if it were a free-to-play that needs to convince us to upgrade and unlock the full product. The problem is that it is a premium game, and may not appeal to those who want everything on day one.

Jul 20, 2023As a familiar-looking hero shooter with dinosaurs added in, Exoprimal is much bolder than it may initially seem. This is a game that I envision many people will play and enjoy for a few hours, feel like they’ve gotten their fill of it, and then move on to something else. But that will be an incredible shame because they’ll never experience Exoprimal’s best content, which is hidden in the back half of its bonkers sci-fi story, and features some of the most surprising and innovative gameplay moments I’ve experienced in a team-based multiplayer game in a long time. I wish it took a little less time to get to those moments, as repetition starts to creep in before they hit, but Exoprimal’s unique PvPvE formula is impeccably designed, features fun and distinct exosuits regardless of what role you play, and is a breath of fresh air in the multiplayer hero shooter genre.

Jul 17, 2023Exoprimal is a relaxed cooperative PvE action that generates a lot of momentum through indirect competition with an opposing team. Especially when you coordinate with up to four friends, it's surprisingly entertaining - much more entertaining than the pictures and videos with thousands of dinosaurs in front of rather functional backdrops would suggest.

Aug 11, 2023I can’t deny the fun factor of Exoprimal, but for this to be a great game, they need to address the shortcomings of their cross-play. So here’s the TLDR, would I pay sixty dollars for Exoprimal? No… It’s a forty-dollar game at best right now. If you don’t have Xbox Game Pass, Personally, I would wait for it to go on sale.

Jul 26, 2023Exoprimal has some indefinable quality that makes me believe it will be around for a good long while and I couldn’t be happier. The combination of inventive exosuits, tight combat and a bonkers concept does more than enough to paper over a myriad of issues that would normally put me off.

Jul 21, 2023As we said in our initial preview, there's potential in Exoprimal. The basic mechanic of blasting away dinosaurs is absolutely fun, and the presence of competent bots filling in for missing humans ensures that no one is going to get shortchanged in a bout. There are enough goals in a match that there's no guarantee about what you'll get to play, and that keeps things fresh enough if you can progress through levels at a good clip. At the same time, the lack of a campaign mode hurts when it feels like the story is better served by having one, even if it only mimics Dinosaur Hunt with bots. Since this is an online-only game, it has a definitive shelf life unless Capcom can patch in something to help prevent the game from being obsolete if the servers ever get pulled. The game is fun now, and its presence on Xbox Game Pass ensures that subscribers can give it a shot before committing to a purchase, but it'll be interesting to see if the population holds up by the time the second season rolls around.

Aug 21, 2023There's two ways to view Exoprimal. It can be one of these forgettable horde co-op games you've seen over and over again, or you can realize it's an imaginative game about fantasizing with power. It weaponizes its narrator and its engine to deliver dinosaurs in sheer numbers as a primal tool of power and genuine, unadulterated, nerdy fun. The worst part of it is it takes a painful while to do its magic, but oh boy does it do wonders afterwards. [Recommended]

Jul 17, 2023As for Exoprimal's dreaded live service elements, they are exactly what you'd expect: a battle pass filled with coins and dangly bits for your guns and zebra skins and dance emotes. A cash shop. All aggressively vanilla, but at least it's not pay-to-win, I suppose. Otherwise, there isn't all that much to chase aside from a couple of new mech suits or some fairly dull upgrades. If you're after a team based shooter where you zone out for a bit and don't care for much else, then you'll have a lot of fun here. Anyone else who's after a serious new hero shooter? Eh, it's not going to inspire anything other than mostly frustration. Here's hoping the devs at least remove the early story grind, then maybe, just maybe, it might be a path to something better... if it hasn't gone extinct by then.
