Exoprimal is an online, team-based action game that pits humanity's cutting-edge exosuit technology against history's most ferocious beasts - dinosaurs.
Exosuits are grouped into different roles, and players will pilot these exosuits to hold firm against overwhelming dinosaur swarms in online-only, team-based action game modes.

Dino Survival, the main game mode, sees two teams of five players compete in a variety of PvE and PvP missions. Players will be transported to the scene of the latest dinosaur outbreak and follow Leviathan's guidance to complete objectives. The team that completes the mission first will emerge victorious.

Whether players are engaging the other team directly, or fighting alongside them against a common enemy, the aim is to accomplish objectives as quickly as possible. Missions vary depending on player skill and other factors, meaning no two matches will unfold the same way.

Another mediocre-downright horrible dinosaur game to add to the large pile of bad dinosaur games. I couldn’t even stomach 5 matches. Here areAnother mediocre-downright horrible dinosaur game to add to the large pile of bad dinosaur games. I couldn’t even stomach 5 matches. Here are my issues:

-Boring and undercooked combat. Shocking seeing as this is the same company that has both the Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry franchises. -Restricted to only a single queue that has only a few mission types: killing dinosaurs, capture points, and escorting payloads, with sometimes some player killing involved. -Missions are heavily punishing. Bad teammates result in the complete reset of the objective you’re on, allowing for the enemy to steamroll ahead in progress. This would be better if the PvE side was an actual PvE mission and not a speedrun challenge against other people like PvP, just with no combat against other mechs (unless you become a dinosaur). -I’m not even going to bother investing into the story. Both the story and its presentation are bland and uninspired. -Battle pass system is given to us as if this game is a Free-to-play game. Loot boxes drop from the battle pass, but at least they aren’t purchasable as far as I know. Cosmetics, “starter packs”, and a premium battle pass seem to be the actual micro-transactions for this game. A real shame coming from a $60 game. -Although a more minor point, the underwhelming character and playable mech customization is disappointing. Monster Hunter has more character customization, and you almost never see your hunter because they’re covered in armor. Ark has more customization, and you almost never see you survivor because they’re always covered in armor. Whatever game you can think of that has character customization, it probably does better than Exoprimal. -Another minor point, but as a paleo nerd I’m disappointed to see the creature design be almost completely resembling the likes of Jurassic World’s creature designs. Overall, this game feels like a mobile game, or a game made by a smaller studio/company. Yet somehow, indie dinosaur games have more content and (mostly) better monetization. For all of its buggy and unpolished mess, I’d still rather play Second Extinction again than have to slog through another match of Exoprimal. At least a dying indie game has more to offer than a game from a AAA company such as Capcom. It’s beyond disappointing to see so little come from the same company that has Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry.

Exoprimal is stylish, creative, well made, but is kneecapped immediately by its boring gameplay loop and live service multiplayer nature. The game wouldn't bad if it weren't for that awful off-center camera. Character needs to be in the center of the screen.
