We started playing but lo' and behold, we don't have a lot of time to play ( we both work during the day so play a bit during the night). So well, we decide it's time to pack it up, log off and continue next evening and what do you think happens ? Everything we discovered is flipping gone ! The map is black again so we had to run the **** boring super-easy content again, and again and again and again and again and again, wtf ?

I will not even mention that the game is flipping laggy at times and it feel like a chore to play it but today it took the cake for me. I am in the lunch break so I decide to play a bit solo with the witch doctor and see what that's about but guess what ? THE FREAKING SOLO GAME IS SO LAGGY THAT I CAN'T FREAKING PLAY ! wow ! So I decide to play a bit to wash away the stress of a half work day and Blizzard got me really pissed off, and all that because I was retarded enough to spend 120 euro for their ****

Now, why does this game have any inventory ? Considering that all character management is gone, vanished, bye bye and that the game currently is kind of a mindless : gather 10000 crap white 2 gold items, go back and sell, rinse and repeat ten folds and that any gold drop above 30-40g will be worth like 20 things in your inventory ... why not remove it all together ? this way you just get rare stuff which gets auto-equiped and that's that, no need to have a useless feature.

What happened to Diablo 2's randomly generated stuff ? We are just in ACT I but until now everything looks the same and stays the same, even the Cathedral is largely the same with not much variation, you can guess where the exits are most of the time - I guess this is how people finished the game in 12 hours or less ? Meh.

There is more stuff but I can't be bothered to put it in, if you don't believe me, the guys @ Rock Paper Shotgun and a lot of other people here feel free to throw your money out of the window and let me know later what you believe.

    Have fun.

Everything that made Diablo 1 and 2 great are removed. You were actually building, customizing, and bonding with your character. But now with every skill available to everyone, your wizard is same as everyone else's. And can't choose attribute points either. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Storyline? Act 3 was exact copy of LOTR Two Towers.

Diablo 1 was the first game I stayed up all night for. There are only 2 other games that made me do that one being Diablo 2. Maybe because I'm 16 years older... or maybe because Blizzard is 16 years older and are not the same people developing games anymore... but this one just doesn't have that same addictive gameplay as the first two. Fact that I got off line to write this proves that. I don't miss it.

Always-online DRM is terrible as it is, but it makes the game unplayable when the servers are down (which they have been alot). This is completely ridiculous - in no other consumer market would it be acceptable to pay $60 for a product that only works 25% of the time, for no ostensibly good reason (they could easily turn off the always-on DRM).

Not to mention, digital downloads don't work

Not to mention, digital downloads don't work until retail versions do, which makes even less sense. This is like if Itunes MP3s could be downloaded (AND PAID FOR) but not played until a specific date... completely senseless.

The game itself is just a clone of Diablo II, no real changes other than a slightly improved skills system. Completely disappointing.

    Sound 6 out of 10
On both our machines (my wife is playing as well) we experienced unbalanced sound. Sometimes the voices are loud and clear and sometimes you cant hear what NPCs are saying. I also had to change the effects level down to 25 percent in order to hear a bit from everything. What you hear is average. The music mostly known from Diablo II and some tracks sound like theyre taken straight from WoW. Everything fits though so no big deal. Only negatives are the voice actors and recordings from the angels...they sound like speaking into a bucket. Not really speaking freely more like reading into a bucket.

    Gameplay 8 out of 10
This is simple. Once you found the class that suits you the game is pure fun. If you liked Diablo I & II you will like Diablo III as well. Theres 2 reasons for me though why it aint got a 10 out of 10.
When you level up for the first time you'll notice you dont get any points to spend. This kills a lot for me. In Diablo II for example I could create any character that I want. Just put some strength to your mage and he can weild a 2 handed axe. In Diablo III the axe is simply not available for your wizard and you cant spend any points. Want to create the ultimate dodging barbarian? Sorry but you cant. I dont see why this got removed. I find it kinda sad that theres a trend to games that everything is automatically done for you while spending points on your character is one main feature of a true role playing game. In Diablo III you cant do anything wrong but you cant do anything better either.
The second point is the online single player. Although youre playing alone you have to queue for a server slot? When you get one you might still experience lag as data is permanently sent and synchronized in the background. This is a no go in my opinion.

Normally this would lead to 7 out of 10 review but there are so many things wrong with the game at the moment.

-315300 possible errors that you can get.
-No free server slots (for your single player game!)
-No access to the game when battlenet is on maintenance.
-Auction house problems bugs and bad design.
-Bugged Achievements (everybody loves achievements :D)
-The well known non-existent customer support from Blizzard.
-Faulty CDs when you didnt buy it online.
-Faulty installers when you bought it online.
-No cow level...ok the Cow King is there but he takes you to Care-Bears LSD trip level where you slay rainbows and unicorns O_o'
-Real money auction house will end up in items only being available for real money. Who is responsible for droprates? Who earns money with every single sale? Blizzard! I guess this model will lead us into a new era of gaming models where you pay for virtual goods. And who tells us that Blizzard themselves wont put auctions on there for real money?

Overall its an unfinished product in my opinion and thus it gets 0 out of 10 from me. Dont get me wrong its an awesome game but the only power that we have (I doubt that Blizzard will care) is to let our frustration out in some way and if that means 0 points for a great game than thats your part you can do.
Lets see how long it takes them to finish the game but knowing Blizzard it will take loooong. Its a great game dont get me wrong but it needs to be finished fast.
If you buy a new car and it has as many faulty parts as this game you simply return it and ask for a new one. With software its different since you cant return it and Blizzard doesnt have a new one, all their versions are faulty ;)

Blizzard decided to make the game more streamlined. You may like it more or less, but it's fine.
I found unacceptable the fact that this is a single-player game that forces you to have a constant internet connection ALL THE TIME. Some games require you an online authentication only you start them at the beginning of you gaming session. D3 requires a connection every single minute you are playing. Diablo 3 is NOT an MMO. It's a single player game (as much as D1 and D2) that also gives you the option to run a dungeon next to 3 other players. It's not a persistent world either.
However, in order to play not only you need to log-in, the game will also constantly send information back and forth with Blizzard server. The same way as an MMO, except that this happens in your single-player game. I have a very good gaming hardware and a good cable internet connection. However, I experienced connectivity lag in my single-player game many times. The character would start moving in slow motion while the latency increased.
I played many MMOs and I have always accepted the drawbacks that came with them. On the other hand, I enjoy the freedom that single-player games have. You can pause the game, play it wherever you want regardless of internet, go at your own pace, etc.
One very annoying thing is that the game will kick you out if you pause it for too long even in single player. This happened with my game many times. One time I was playing the game and my phone rang. I paused my single-player game and talked for 30 min or so. I afterwards made myself a coffee and came back around 45-55 mins later. Blizzard server kicked me out of my game and I had to explore all the area again. It turns out that just like an MMO I had to start thinking were to pause my single-player game if I suspected I was going to be away for more than 30 mins. This is unacceptable in a single-player game.

I bought the hard copy from Amazon and will likely return it Monday for a refund claiming game is junk.

All I wanted to do was play the single player campaign like I had done in the past. Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom (err greed)should never made it a requirement to play this game on-line. Obviousely I am not the only one that feels this way. The majority of reviews for this game have been less than stellar. Some heads need to role at Blizzard over this catastrophe. Guess I'll wait for Torchlight II release.

You don't completely alter a sequel so that you can't even compare it with the original. That's what new franchises or spin-off's are for!

    My gripes:

Blizzard must have had only one thing in mind when they made this game. And that thing is MONEY!
All design choices made in Diablo 3 supports this conclusion. They have removed pretty much all things that would make you consider this a game and replaced it with grinds. This is made so that you're more akin to spend money in the real-money action house. This game shouldn't be called a game when it's more like a part time job. (Or full time for some)

There is no difficulty curve in this game at all. Instead you just mow through all content with ease on the earlier difficulties (which is unbelievable boring) until you're hit by a stone wall the size of Mars when you enter the final difficulty (Inferno). From there you have 2 choices. You grind for several MONTHS, wading through piles upon piles of useless items hoping to find upgrades OR you you simply open your wallet and buy what you need. But why anyone would spend money to get items is beyond me as that would completely remove the point of playing the game in the first place.

No character development what so ever. No skill points or stat points to allocate. Instead everything comes down to items, which happen to be bland and boring. All classes require the same kind of stats and items except for 1 primary stat. So that means that everyone is pretty much looking for the same items. Most skill are useless (especially for the witch doctor) and as un-epic as they can get so everyone not only looks the same but everyone uses the same abilities too. In other words there's no variety at all.

All this makes Diablo 3 the biggest disappointment in my entire gaming "career".

A $20 game at best but sold for $60. Outdated controls, bland gameplay even by hack n slash dungeon crawler standards. Online only really made things worse. There's a lot of negatives about the game and they greatly out weigh the positives. In the end it's a $20 game that they tried to charge top dollar for and that plus some big blunders in design and planning have caused a backlash.

The little of the game I was able to play was horribly squandered on dealing with lag for a SINGLE PLAYER game. Since disbanding Blizzard North, Activ-Blizzard has really gone -south-. The DRM makes this game honestly not worth it, for something with a $60 price tag, you would think the game would be a complete product. I'll be getting Torchlight 2 and wishing about what could have been.

Permanent online requirement (Not a problem until Inferno when Elite 1shot you during sudden lag spike), Now your Single player char is at risk of being hack, which force you to purchase Blizzard authenticator. Poor Loot systems so rare items can be sold in AH for cash transaction where Blizzard will take a cut. Char level until 60only max, expect future "expansion" that probably cost another 10USD.

It feels that Blizzard put so much effort and ideas of milking all the possible penny from us, that they forget the core important of making Diablo 3 a good game.

You can't play the game offline, even if you just want to play single player. I've been stuck in the same dungeon for hours because I keep getting disconnected and have to start back at a checkpoint. I can't save. I don't care if they fix their server problems, my network drops occasionally. I don't care that my network occasionally drops. That shouldn't be a problem for a single player game. But it is for this one. Don't get me wrong, the Blizzard servers aren't coping, but even if they were I'd feel ripped off. If they somehow patch this to allow for offline single player I'd give this game maybe 8/10? Maybe 8.5 (based on the few sessions where I've been able to play for a while without getting dropped).

Even if many 0 votes are too harsh it is clear that Diabla did not live up to many people's expectations if you actually read what they write next to their grade. Blizzard would do well to listen to what their game serie's oldest fans actually want.

My biggest problem with the game (PC):

+ Subpar graphics for this age on PC. If you max out the graphic settings you won't push any modern card, even the cheapest ones. They should be ashamed over this, considering how big Blizzard is. I can blame the consoles for making the gfx so low but it's not an excuse, the gfx should have been made for the PC and then scaled down for consoles.

+ Internet requirement. No **** arguments for it, it is just plain bad. We don't own the game we're holding in our hand, we have a license to play it. Even says so in the "agreement" during installation.

+ The built-in marketplace. Did they really have to recommend people to cheat? What happened to the satisfaction of finding good stuff yourself? Now you are supposed to just grind for money so you can buy stuff that other players have found OR just aquired easily on the Inferno difficulty. It completely takes away the compare-yourself-with-a-friend aspect of the game as well, since there's no way of knowing how much he has just bought in the market. Using game-money in the marketplace is just a step-stone towards using real-world money that the greedy Blizzard wants you to use. By buying/selling items with game-money your are putting real-life-worth on virtual items, worth that will eventually bubble into someone spending real money. Shame on you Blizzard, SHAME ON YOU.

In a way the marketplace issue is even larger than the Internet-connection issue. At least the actual gameplay is not ruined when you are required to connect to their servers.

This made Diablo 2 unique and enjoyable for a long time. For example, there is no sense having now 2 barbarians. With this "strategy" people will play far less this game. What was the logic, thinking that young "modern age" kids playing mmorpgs will join this game? You also know that everyone has all the skills that you have (if they are your level), and it's just a matter choice, depending on what has been put in the short-key bar. There are "runes" for the skills, which are a kind of upgrade, they are also unlocked by leveling-up. The game has been made so easy. Even no identification scrolls/town portals. You deleted so many things, which were the uniqueness of this great series! The voices are not even barely similar to Diablo 2, and are so so bad. All in all, if you are not a fan of Diablo 2, and if you enjoy games from this type - Sacred, Titan Quest, you may like Diablo 3. The only increase you will get is blue and useless yellow items. They actually tried to promote that there is no limit to the magic find hinting that Diablo 2 was limited.

You will be around second act of hell mode when you realize you are 58-59 under geared and that the experience dulls because of the level cap of level 60 when you have to grind 1-2 million gold per piece of equipment to be able to have any kind of fighting chance to make it to Diablo in act 4 hell. This actually would have been remedied if the level cap was 99 like it should have been, then you would be able to experience becomeing more powerful instead of struggling against thousands of bosses just to grind enough gold to buy 1 object in the auction house.

The story line was a huge improvement by about 1000 times, it's just a shame most of it is in books you need to pick up, which you will not pay attention to and only pick up for achievements.

Diablo 3 is the perfect example of Capitalism gone crazy to make sure that you 1. go back to WOW and keep paying $15 per month until the expansion comes out.

I have been waiting over 10 years for Diablo 3 to come out and they didn't even make it full 3D. I feel very upset and cheated that they only tried half way to make this game a wonderful experience yet underhandedly reserving 80% what it should be to pad their pockets later.

DO NOT purchase this game! it is a huge slap in the face to loyal Diablo fans and is only meant to make addicts of the next generation of players, while discarding the old school players.

The whole feel of the game is that you know some executive little weasel is sitting in a throne some where undermining everything wonderful about the original 2, setting a stage to make you buy expansions of long waits to unlock little pieces of what diablo should be in 2-4 expansions of years of wait, to make sure you go back to WOW and pay your monthly fee and get ready for the next expansion.

you are also not permitted to comment on battle.net about diablo 3 if your WOW account is frozen.

The lack of character customization is a let down as well, yes they wanted to focus on loot for customization, but the loot is boring as heck. In diablo II and other clones your character's unique nature was based on builds, stats, and gear. Every player could tweak as needed which added a bit of depth. Diablo III only allows customization with loot. You don't have to make permanent or semi permanent decisions about your build. Now as loot is the only true unique aspect of your character, you'd think it would be relatively interesting. Not so much. It's so random that it is basically meaningless. A wand could be a strength/dex wand while an axe could be an uber weapon for int users. Even unique items or "legendary" have extremely random stats making some of them completely unusable by the intended user. Then there is the stats themselves. There are so few of them that choosing between items requires 0 thought "oh this one adds more damage or health, it must be better". There is no "should I get the item that gives you a chance to freeze enemies, or should I get the item that gives me health?" decisions. Of course there is also that huge issue of having no SP offline or mods, and the AH. The game is balanced around the ability to buy items instead of farming for them, making it a lot less exciting when something good drops, because you mine as well go buy it on the ah first. I tried playing the game without it, but you can't keep up without it due to the terrible itemization and lack of gear dropping. In general game is meh, couldn't make it past the first 2 acts because of boredom, and the entire time I would take breaks to look up better diablo clones because im in the mood for a hack n' slash but DIII was such a let down. Previous Diablo was really addictive, this one is not at all. I'd say word "generic" really sums it up.
Auction house?!?! You ought to be ashamed even to mention this sort of thing when talking about the game. Positives? Looks nice although I still want to say that it's a bit kitsch.

Sadly it does not. Diablo III is not a bad game in terms of "start too end" story line, it's just whats in between those two points, that undoes what could have been a truly epic game. It never was going to be anything but a tedious game doing four, yes four runs to get too Inferno (Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno). The epic fights I looked forward too against what I hoped would be legendary demons with unbridled power and tricks up their sleeves. Sadly it turned out to be attack, run away, attack, run away, attack, oh you're dead. The only thing I like, is my monk's ability to keep everyone bubbled and healed and still being able to deal out damage making my need to be in a group essential. Sadly some players fail to understand monks need monsters too beat on too regenerate their spirit to keep said players alive, and so they kill the monks target and then they die and blame the monk, because they didn't get bubbled or healed. LMFAO at these noobs.

Character development. Skills are great as long as you read very careful exactly what it does and what will be impacted by choosing something else. Monks are very badly screwed over by the need to use spirit to do anything cool let alone helpful. Constantly being drained of spirit and not regenerating it fast enough can lead too alot of deaths. I spent alot of time, circling monsters. singling one out away from the pack, move in, strike a few times, build some spirit up, circle away before the rest of the group has time to land too many blows. The other classes are OP and don't appear to have too much trouble with large groups. You get runes to enhance your skill, each rune adds a different type of effect too your skill. In my case I went with everything that increased my spirit regeneration. I have soloed Diablo and managed to revive my team mates for the final killing strike simply by biding my time, keeping myself bubbled and healing myself and Diablo away from their corpses. Power of the runes.

The story line is not very robust. Receive quest, go here, kill this, get this item, give it too this person, next quest. It's a rush a job. Blizzard seemed to have spent far too much time drawing pretty pictures than filling in the lay of the land, side quests of historical value and creating decent movie sequences. I'm sorry, but cartoon videos indicate you ran out of money, not that you wanted to impact the Asian market place. One decent video sequence is all your going to get folks. Side quests are laughable, some relate to current characters, most seem to be there as part of the achievement system. The storyline should have been carved into atleast three stages and money spent on refining each stage. Instead we are delivered a rip off of Titan Quest. Which again was too damn long but your fighting creatures from antique, which is cool!! I know there is an expansion pack coming, that much is obvious, you will see it if you know what too look for. Value for money. No, not really. Blizzard knows that, that's why they gave it away free for a 1 year WOW subscription. Diablo III gets a 4 out 10. Subsequent expansions won't save it. Better to go straight onto fleshing out the story line for Diablo IV.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you are from Oceania, then you will get 2 second delay; Blizzard has made no secret (or effort) to aid, assist or communicate to players about the issues of the latency. There is no plans for an oceanic server at all, and with the trend the company is taking it will only get worse.

That is only part of the issue; I could go on about how poor the story line is, the lack of game play, how over 80% of the maps ARE NOT randomized; the elites are far to over powered in inferno, how 2/5 classes are almost unplayable in Inferno and how the others have about 6 viable builds each..

In General, this is the most dissapointing game I have anticipated in the last 10 years, I am finding it hard to compare it too anything, maybe not having Suikoden 6, but then again D3 just brings tears to my eyes. Another thing I have to say is that Blizzards lack of empathy and customer service is beyond disgusting; to the point where you ask yourself are they even trying to be professional, or just sweeping players under the carpet hoping that the addiction of gaming will keep them quiet...

Well in this case, the gamers have spoken loud, and in volume. Check out the PRO CRITICS, they are all bought off by Blizzard and probably do not even play the game beyond the first week. BUY THIS GAME AT YOUR OWN RISK - and if you want a reason to stop gaming RPGS and go back to study, training or another real life activity, then D3 can give you that incentive! I took up MMA and cant even bare to log onto my once prized Blizzard games

Before I went to buy the game I did some research on the first two games because I had not played either of them, and read reviews and decided that it would be a good idea to buy the new one. I start the game up after the VERY long installation, very excited to play the very anticipated game only to get an error. I checked the forum which basically said I had to reinstall the game. When I tried to reinstall the game, the process wouldn't even start until a few hours of constantly re-trying. Finally I got the game to update and pressed the big beautiful glowing "play" button only to be told the server is offline. The next day I was able to get online only to have dozens of error messages, most of them not listed on the forums. What little gameplay I was able to experience was decent but nothing special, just the typical item farming of most dungeon crawling games of the past. I months after I had bought the game I decided to see if there were any fixes only to find out that my account was hacked and all my items I had worked hours for were gone. My first thought was "HOLY ******* **** where is my stuff!!!!???!!?!?!?!" my second thought was "I can't believe I spent $60 on this piece of crap game" The reason for this is, all of your accounts information is stored online, including characters for games their games. Since all of your loot is stored online, and not on your computer (even for single player), your items can be stolen much, much more easily. In short, the game was a highly anticipated, bland, boring, error, "server is down", and account hacking fest, with very little potential to be as good as its predecessors. Expand

I played because I wanted somethign to do while hanging out with friends online. This game is not the successor of Diablo 2 (D2). I've played D2 for many years and only recently stopped to pick up D3 in hopes that it would be a worthy successor. In short, it is not. The always online DRM kills the experience if you need to take the game with you somewhere. Good items are impossible to find and botters have caused the price of gold to become near worthless, which means you'll only be farming forever to get a good drop. Legendaries don't drop as much as uniques did in D2 and you'll be hard pressed finding them at all. Content is extremely repetitive and I felt that I wasn't really playing the game because it was fun and this is especially true of the new inferno mode. Although I was able to clear all the content prenerf in early June, it still left much to be desired. The game resembles somewhat of a WoW style game and not the D2 we remember. Gone are the days of stat allocation and good builds. Now its all about having THE efficient build and farming as much as possible because you never know when you'll get a piece of acceptable gear. I should mention that in the 300 hours of playtime, I've never found a single upgrade on my barbarian or "hit the jackpot" so to say. In fact all of that gear had to be bought from the AH in order to clear inferno at all. Be wary of this game and if the user scores don't warn you already. Well, you've been warned by my review hopefully. Expand

This can be seen in the dumbing down of the stat system and the persistent manipulation of skills done every through updates. The stat system doesn't allow you to dump points into any of your attributes, instead it allocates your skill points into attributes based on your class, which disallows for true character customization. The updates are constantly manipulating the skills so that players are more likely to play a character in the "way they were intended." These points alone would be enough for me to conclude that Diablo 3 is a lackluster RPG. Combine it with the a short and sub-par story line (that you will likely have to play several times for gear) and a multiplayer with a "thrown together" feel, I would have to recommend anyone considering buying Diablo 3 to save their $60 and look into buying a different game that actually has RPG elements and a half decent storyline. It is outrageous to play the game for 250+ hours and only have one item on you that you found yourself. This destroyed the community, and made wallet warriors the kings of D3, I refuse to pay for items, so I here I stay, a mediocre player endlessly farming for controlled items I will never see. They made the game have **** drop rates so that you would have to pay out your pocket for better items. It has been a huge waste of time and a social experiment. I had to pay $60 to get this game, electronically might I add (I still think E-games should have the packaging and shipping costs discounted, so more around $50, or at least $55) and on top of that, if I want to have good gear I have to spend ridiculous amounts of money on the AH. THE WORST OF ALL IS.... THE GAME IS LAGGY AS **** It's the DRM along with the Dev's fault. I play on a 2009 Macbook Pro, let me outline the shocking performance from this game. V 1.00 - Whole world logs on, freaking terrible leg. V 1.01 - Nothing really changes. V 1.02 - Still pretty bad .
V 1.03 - GODS BE GOOD, the game actually works and runs like butter! 60+ FPS :D V 1.04 - GODS BE GREAT, the game still works, and they buffed legendaries :D V 1.05 - False Hope. Blizz increased drop rates which was amazing and a huge step in the right direction, yet what they didn't disclose is that they only increased rates for the **** items. Still the AH dominates. V 1.05 Continued. The worst thing to come of 1.05 was that the games performance plummeted across both PC and Mac. I watched my framerate go from 60-75 FPS, to 20-30, and it dips to 6-9 a few times a minute. WHAT THE **** HAPPENED? DID YOU SPILL PEPSI ON THE ****ING CONSOLE? It's been over a month of laggy unfixed **** and Blizz refuse to answer questions directly but tip toe around performance issues. HOW CAN A GAME THAT WORKED PERFECTLY (atleast for two V's 1.03/1.04) deteriorate to this crap. I PAID $60 for a working game, and this does not count. All my friends are affected as well, we all have frame drops now and have been recording record low performance for over a month with no incoming fix from Blizz. And don't blame my internet, in V.103/ early 1.04 I was playing on a connection that had 112 Ping and getting 60FPS. I now play on a connection with 11 Ping and receive 20-30 FPS. It is server side, not player side. If you are planning on buying this game, wait! There is still hope, maybe this AH experiment will end one day, maybe they will also drop the DRM. Maybe then some modders can come in and save the day, for now, avoid this game. :(

Blizzard failed to deliver what they promised and to think it costed them 12 years, no just NO.
Bad Blizzard, graphics outdated and gameplay nothing special.

    - A primitive, dated, and pitiful MMO style chat window and random public game finder designed as a substitute for nameable lobbies and a completely customizable public game search engine (both features available upon release in the game's predecessor over a decade ago).

    - Drop rates tuned for play in conjunction with an auction house. Put another way: the AH/droprate combo denies players the satisfaction of finding their own gear and thus lowers the incentive to play-to-improve while raising the incentive to pay-to-improve. It's more fun, fair, and addictive to find items (even lower level items of legendary/set/unique quality) at a higher rate than it is to supplement your gaming experience and sense of character development with somebody else's via an Auction House. The "they find an item you want, you find an item they want and the AH is the mediator" argument is valid only because of the volume of players D III currently has. If the game experienced a sharp decrease in players, the AH would experience a sharp drop in items posted, and players would be left with a game where it is near impossible to gear their characters to the standard they expect or deserve for their time investment.

Unless they scrap the AH, overhaul the entire loot system, and re-tune legendary/set droprates to more rewarding levels, then any future updates or expansions will amount to nothing more than polish on a turd.

I'm writing this review just now, I bought it with high expectations the same day it has been released and I was and I am still disappointed. Just saying, I bought TorchLight2 for play with friends and yes, it's chaotic, in cooperative mode you do not understand what's going on on the screen but it's still more enjoyable than Diablo3. My one major complaint is that the game never feels very difficult, especially on Normal. There are frustrating moments, hordes of baddies, and increasing difficulty levels, but the same feeling of utter defeat never really happens as it did in the past.

For all the game's missteps, though, you certainly can't accuse Blizzard of phoning it in - if anything, the game suffers from the tendency to try a little to hard at times to evolve the design. [Aug 2012, p.61]

When it works, Diablo III is the best of the Diablo games. When it doesn't, all it does is make you mad. [July 2012, p.54]
