I passed the last 15 min. to subscribe to that site just to express myself on Diablo 3. Always peekin on release date of D3
"When will it be release? When its ready.... " Ok, I don't mind passing 5 hrs trying to pass trought the Agent. problem while uploading 1 hr files, then I've been playing 1hr, went to sleep angry, played up to lvl 10 this morning and I'm now experiencing error 32 problem. But everything there is fine for me, the problem is when I play!!! How do u make D3? U take something basic, classic, fine, pleasant like Diablo, Megaman, Mario, Sonic, HOMM3, U remove its essence, the whole fun of it.... and VOILA!!!
Ur Stats goes up the way its program to, u can't change that, pts or way ur playing... u can't level skill, every Wizard get the same skills, same strenght at the same level, u just can choose to use them or not, the weaponery system seems to be more expended, but still far less than D2... So the storyline is supposed to be better, animation, graphics, etc. I've played Terraria, MineCraft, I don't care about that graphics, gemme 8-Bits, I want depth in the control, dynamics, strategy... D2 to is not just an hack n slash, its an hack/slash/gather/hope/manage/THEN-LOOK-MINE-IS-BIGGER-THAN-URS! 7 persons were able to see mine was bigger, now only 4 at the time... I wanted to turm my mind off, open diablo, gather lot of suff with the same chance dynamics as casino dependent, and manage it an other day when I would be in that mood... now I only have linear story, leveling, control on a ... I don't know even what I've played hrssssss at D1, D2 cuz I never read the storyline... anyway hope I'll find someone that want to buy back my copy half price cuz I would rather play back to Civlization 1, or using my free up to lv20 WoW, than playing my all brand new worthless D3

This title, despite having a botched launch day (with numerous outages), is not a bad game. It is by far nowhere near the hype (as usually that is the case), but still fun to play. The storyline is predictable, cheesy, and much like an action cartoon script. That is OK, considering the game that it is, and I do not expect an epic tale. I knew the downsides from the outset, such as a no offline mode (which is understandable with the real-world currency feature), no character customization, and the go here, hack-this-slash-that, grab-this routine. Overall, I am satisfied with this game, but it is by far, not the best I have ever played. Expand

Buhu there is no offline mode. No there's not an offline mode but there is a singleplayer mode that requires you to be online because of the piracy issue and stat tracking. Blizzard isn't the first to do this DICE did it with BF3 and that game is still a game that you guys gave a high score to. You rate it down because you cant steal it yet? so to summon it up.. The negative reviews of this game are interesting. There are complaints about the story and character customization as if there was a brilliant story and a wide array of character customization in the first two. The Diablo series has never been about story or character customization, it has been about spam clicking your mouse and watching hordes of enemies die as you get loot and level up. In Diablo 2 a player would drop 20 skill points into the same skill in order to maximize its effectiveness. Now, that skill just levels on its own. Blizzard realized dropping 60 skill points into 3 skills for synergy was redundant, and changed it for the sequel. I even saw a complaint about town portal and identify scrolls being removed. You can still town portal and identify all you want, you just don't have to horde scrolls in your inventory now. I saw a complaint about stamina potions. Really? It is really upsetting to some Diablo 2 fans that you have unlimited stamina now? Blizzard essentially took Diablo 2 and streamlined it while preserving the style of game play that kept everyone addicted before. This is a very fun game if you enjoy hack n slash RPGs. If you enjoyed Diablo 2, it's likely you'll enjoy this game...unless you have absurd expectations that include either an identical game with no changes or a game that is nothing like Diablo 2. It seems like the majority of the negative reviews take that extreme. Why is this game not identical to Diablo 2? Why is this game not drastically different than Diablo 2? Blizzard definitely failed to prepare their servers on launch day, but other than that the game plays fine and is just as addicting as the first two. Expand

I my opinion it does not live up to the hype, It is an above average can which you can have fun with for a fair amount of time. A severe lack of customization and a buggy launch with no option to play offline contributes to my score. But even without the launch contributing I would still give it no more than a 7.

That doesn't even go into Blizzard's greed finally making them join with the gold farmers- or the brutal launch from a company that should know by now how to run an online game... or that it has to be online no matter what.

I'm sure they know its horrible too but as a company they will defend themselves to the end. I purchased a game advertised as a SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN with the ability to play with friends...THAT IS LITERALLY ALL THEY ADVERTISED...now it turns out i bought a multiplayer game that allows you to play by yourself or with friends...Well your servers suck and thousands cant play the game they bought so if anything let this stand testimant as something a game company will never do or follow. 2. Error 34634, Error 23235, Error 347756, Error 331356, Error 4578464.. ... The list goes on...As you play this game you'll find you can't connect due to numerous numbered errors. I bet the error number is as randomly generated as the items you pick up in the game. 3. Connection Lost, Server Timeout, Server overloaded...Please enter the queue....The list goes on... As you play this game you'll find you are forced out of the game and back to the main menu because their servers are crap. Not only is this aggrivating as it happens numerous times within minutes but you have to RESTART from the last checkpoint...I freaking played the same level 4 freaking times because of random timeouts...i swear...blizzard you're on a roll with the randomness..I just wish it was stuff i actually liked. And each time you are forced to restart the dungeons are randomly different...a couple times it was cool cause i ended up in better dungeon passages but other times i was like...wtf is this..i dont like this option.

    4. I seriously have to enter a queue to play a game I purchased? Has anyone here ever purchased a game and then realized when they want to play it they have to wait in line to play it as if going on a rollercoaster? This game should be called Six Flags: Amusement Failure because that's exactly what it feels like i did. Instead of paying $60 for an amusement park admission and spending 2 hours waiting in line to go on the rides... I paid $60 for a game and have to wait in line for others to finish playing before there is room for me...and then heaven forbid #1, #2, or #3 happens and i'm kicked off the ride..i mean game..while i'm in midair... That's a way to get killed..and the same is in the game...sometimes it will freeze and by the time it's unfrozen you've died 40 times from monsters LOL...wowwwww

    5. Hardly any magic to choose from and use. All that happens is every 4 or so levels a new ability unlocks and you can power it up with runes or what not...but it would be so much better if you could pick up abilities like you can in any other RPG or game. Stumbling upon rare magics and spells would greatly increase the amount of options a player has in this game.

    6. The list goes on... Linear game play similar to Final Fantasy 13, although Final Fantasy 13-2 greatly improved on that...guess we'll have to wait for Diablo 3-2 to come out where they have fixed all the problems gamers had. The major point is..don't do anything revolutionary if you can't handle it. Blizzard you boast the 12 years this game took to make...and honestly let's see what you've covered in the same amount of time it took to make Avatar.

---1---7 hour game on normal...seriously? you call that long? That's an average console game...okay so i wont complain..but uh...how many 12 year long developed games are only 7 hours long? Seems to me like it should have taken you the average time it takes to make a game with this crap and that's 1-2 years... In 12 years I would not expect a game 7 hours long.. Take a page out of Squareenix's book and make a game at least 20 hours long.

---2---Bugs...you had 12 years to make a perfect game and yet there are so many bugs in this game it looks like you didn't even test it yourself. If I'm not getting stuck in an infinite wormhole that keeps me locked in an area no matter which direction i go in I'm being constantly teleported back 10 feet from where i started....wow...you definitely upped the physics...in fact...you defy all physics in this game!

Blizzard should have made a NORMAL game instead of playing around with the formula. diablo 1 and 2 were amazing..this game is like UNCHARTED 3 for PS3...it's great...but the second game was the prime and from there they obviously couldnt go any higher. This should have been a single player game offline with a multiplayer component. Some people dont care about the auction house and some people may want to play this game offline...say while they're on vacation or traveling or in the military where they dont have a connection all the time, or maybe they are poor and saved up to get this game because they really wanted it only to find they need to pay $50 a month for broadband too just to play it...oh and that reminds me...

Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 had fantastic dialogue and Starcraft 2 had surprisingly AMAZING character development in my honest opinion, and i say surprisingly because I never expect that in RTS or Turn based strategy games but that doesn't seem to be a strength in D3, I mean it's not that bad (keep in mind I have only beaten the first act so my review will change this is just temporary) so far, its just,,,, average,,, the gameplay itself is good, it hasn't gotten tedious for me, but for a price tag of 60 bucks,, this game really isn't worth it.

Finally, DRM, what a load of @$$, i would have given this game an 8 or an 8.5 (considering price, lowered would be a 9 maybe) i'm sick of this, it seems that companies want to ban piracy yet it becomes more popular as the same companies release DLC that should have been in the game.

One thing my friends, Nintendo will rise again with the Wii U coming above all this DRM crap (hopefully) and Nintendo will rain once more!

Because i think people that hate DRM so much, would go to the length of buying a whole new console for their games.

Skyrim was the same price as this, and that's an absurdity that Diablo 3 can charge as much.

I was curious about one of the reviews which mentioned this is the greatest game ever. In spite of all its short comings, how can an unplayable game be the greatest game ever? This had to be joke because he rated an unplayable game a ten. Also, the person mentioned the game has an economy that needs to be protected. But we purchased a single player game, not an MMORPG.

In addition, even though Ubisoft has DRM for Assassin's Creed, if their servers are down they don't kick you off the game. They just synchronize the game later when the server catches up. For battle net Diablo 3, if their server goes down, you're booted out of the game immediately and lose all your work. Right now I'm waiting for the server to come up, and when it returns it will make me play the SAME dungeon area for a fourth time because it wipes out all my work everytime the server crashes and boots me off.

In addition, whenever there are potential plot choices, we get no say in how to respond. Our characters answer for us without giving us a chance to accept quests or opportunities to help people.

The graphics are not bad but not spectacular either. You lost a lot of the customization from the previous games. I really hope that blizzard learns a harsh lesson from this and realize that fans posting here are not trolls just out to bash the game but gamers with serious gripes about how the game is handled right now. And i do hope that people reading this realize that the high scores done by the pros are or course sugarcoated and they would never decrease the rating of this game due to it being a cash cow of publicity for them on their site since Diablo ads are plastered over most of them.

The game has its merit but i have seen way better game that got barely any praise but were as better than this. Titan Quest comes to mind! yes i said and i am pluggin it in. Want a good Diablo clone that does not force you to be online. Then buy Titan Quest and the expansion and you will be rewarded with long hours of pure fun. More than this game will ever give out without you having to shell more money to make it longer.

I can see this game die a quick death after most people have done one walkthru... i am sorry if it looks like i am all over the place with this but there is so many things done wrong with the game. It had potential but Blizzard decide to ------ this game out instead of making a proper sequel, The people who made the decision about this game should go. Otherwise Blizzard is gonna go down the drain on their other games othen than WoW.

SHOCKING FAIL FROM BLIZZARD! The first Blizzard game to TRULY disappoint on so many levels, and the reason I will NEVER "auto buy" a Blizzard game ever again.

From the moment I put the disc in the drive and was wrongly informed that my Windows 7 x64 OS was below minimum requirements, followed on by an installer that jammed on 0%, I knew something was WRONG. Googling these issues I was fairly shocked to find that these issues were in fact widespread, with many eager Diablo fans battling for hours to even get the game installed. Took the day off work to try this game out? TOUGH! Because if you get it installed, the servers are down anyway!

If you get the installer running, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the Diablo 2 theme tune playing throughout the install. The bad news is that the positives stop there. So now I'll start to list my issues with this game, which a vast majority of Diablo fans also seem to share:-

    1. Absolutely disgraceful graphics. Forget the World Of Warcraft styling (tired of hearing that?), as thats a given. The textures are low res and washed out. The colours are all wrong, it's too bright, theres no dark and dingy gothic areas you'd expect from the Diablo series (which seemingly started with Diablo 1 and promptly died with Diablo 2).

    2. Auto leveling, auto assigned skill points, stats now mean NOTHING.

    3. Auto assigned new skills at each level with NO skill tree to traverse. That's right, every level X character, class Y has EXACTLY the same skills and attributes as every other level X character, class Y. 4. Far too easy on normal difficulty and no choice to start at a higher difficulty. Fancy playing through this mess fest after you've completed normal difficulty? I DONT!

    5. Wizz-bang spell/attack graphics and mega-powered looking characters right from the get go! (and I literally mean, level ONE). Why bother scaling the spell or attack graphics/effects the more powerful your character gets? In Diablo 3 you can have a rainbow firing lightening storm of thunder crapping character right from the get go. All sense of achievement and progression RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW! I'm getting depressed thinking about the potential of this game, so I'll stop here. Why release an action RPG with all the RPG elements totally gutted out of the game? Leaving us with a rainbow colored bowel movement mess!

Overall I really don't think Blizzard could have f*cked this game up more severely. Casual gamers and console kiddies will no doubt disagree. Real fans of the Diablo franchise will be a bit more sympathetic to my viewpoint.

I guess Blizzard was trying to achieve a more fun and "refined" game. Why should they stick to a winning formula that's worked well twice before? Well, I'm about to do some "refining" myself and remove this rubbish from my hard drive.

    AVOID!

It is a faithful return to form from the previous titles, and while at times a bit too faithful (feels the same), still feels like the Diablo I grew so fond of in the past. The art style has blizzards typical impressive hand painted style, with just the right balance of color and contrast throughout the game to maintain the darker gothic style when appropriate, and the more colorful more action oriented sequences that pepper the game. The game-play is exactly what you would expect if you're coming from Diablo 2. The point and click combat is as grind-tastic, and shamelessly addictive as ever. Your motivation for grinding on is collecting the most powerful weaponry and armor in the game. While seeing the end of the game is likely your initial interest, once you enter repeat play-throughs your soul motivation will revolve around developing your character. This motivation was considerably stronger in previous titles due to the simple fact that you can no longer spend multiple points in increasing the effectiveness of your powers. The skill system is the most altered aspect of the game. Your skill tree is now more of a single branch that you climb along until you reach level sixty and have all the abilities to choose from. Once you unlock a skill, the majority of your skills will be dependent on what you have equipped, making your skills develop with your equipment. Meaning it's quite possible for a level 60 mage with base equipment to lose to a level 30 with magic equipment (although that match-up will likely never happen). You unlock runes to change the effect of your equipped spell or abilities, such as adding ice damage to a weapon, or adding another minion to a summon spell. There isn't much to mention that wouldn't ring very familiar to Diablo fans. It's a faithful recreation of the Diablo franchise, and while not evolving as far as one would hope it would, it sucks you in and motivates you to play on. With later difficulty settings allowing you to gain more powerful equipment and crafting abilities there is enough reason to grind on for most more dedicated players, but to a casual player, the game may leave you wanting a more varied experience. There is an argument that the online requirement is not DRM, but to protect the real money auction house. What that fails to account for is how simple it would be to exclude offline loot from eligibility on the auction. Just like how achievements work.

Singleplayer- 0/10 DRM dictates that I must have internet. Pathetic reasoning to explain this atrocity on top of it. D2 had single player characters that could not be used in Multiplayer games-- therefore it could have been implemented for the times I want to get my D3 on solo, wherever I want... I shouldn't have needed to connect to the internet to play alone. Multiplayer - 10/10 Playing through with a couple friends has been a blast. Nostalgia kicks in, I can ignore the visually unappealing game and just have fun.

Customization- 0/10 There is none. There is really nothing else to say about this game in that respect. Cater to the sheep who apparently can't figure out how to build a character through a skill tree. Justify it however you want other players- its the ultimate game for cookie cutter characters. Nevermind that games have been using skill tree type systems, and doing it well, for well over a decade now. Total fail in this facet of gameplay.

Story- 6/10 I may have to edit this post in the future but so far (through Act II)- a tad bit predictable. Throw me a little curve or something... anything...

    Overall - 5/10.

Basically if you want a mediocre iteration of the Diablo franchise this game is for you. Its not bad, its fun multiplayer, horrible solo, but its not mind blowing in any sense nor by any stretch of the imagination.

P.S. The number of "reviews" on this site both good and bad that have literally no arguments to warrant either a "10" or a "0" should be removed. The reviews spamming statements should be removed, and the reviews simply insulting other users should be removed. We might then see a more realistic "User Score". Until then it will simply be a war of people who blindly vote 10 vs. people who blindly vote 0, and insult/argue about why they have justified these inappropriate scores.

It is a very fast-paced game that really draws you in, in a way that I think is better than its prequel. Skills are mapped to keys to make them very easy to use, and the new potion/town portal system makes for combat that is very fast-paced, dynamic, and non-stop. Whereas in Diablo II sometimes there was too much prolonged battles where you had to go use town portals and go back to town to restock several times, this combat system is more smooth and great. Also, inventory management is easier and more streamlined, which is great. Overall, a great game that has improved on its predecessors in just about every way. And with the skill choices, the higher level you are, the more great choices you can make in regards to what kind of skill combinations you want to use. This makes for a great way to build the kind of character you want, and nothing to complain about. If you're an ACTUAL gamer that plays games for GAMEplay, then please read.
It's sad to see how many people give this game a 0 for really stupid reasons... The connection problems are not the game, that's the server, you try designing a server that can handle THAT much traffic on release day, it's impossible. Give it a week TOPS and things will be running smoothly. Complaining about DRM is just stupid, you bought the game, you paid your service, enjoy it and shut up. Now with all this BS aside, let's get to the actual game.
So far from what I've seen this game is pretty damn good, not perfect, no diablo 2, put damn near perfect:
    1) Graphics, I honestly don't give a damn about graphics... people seemed to have forgotten that games are about GAMEplay remember that part in a game? The GAME? Oh yeah, that. You want to see good graphics? Watch a movie. Besides that, the graphics were fine, pretty, cool art style, clean UI, everything looks nice.
    2) Gameplay - oh yeah! That important thing. So far, it's great, the only flaws I can see with it, is the fact that new characters are always going to be the same, you unlock skills in a very linear pattern allowing for no creativity early on, until about lvl 7-10 when you start making choices. Also the lack of attributes kinda made me frown :( Other than that, the gameplay and loot system is the same of what we know and love from D2.
    3) Other nonsense - Online play is kinda weird. I don't like that you can't play offline single player, a bit of a letdown if I do say. The Auction House thing seems cool - it's not for everyone, but I don't think people should rate it down for that. It's like if someone gave you a great game and said "here, OH and there's this extra feature if you want to use it too, but you don't have to." It's not like you NEED the auction house to get gear.
That about wraps things up. This game certainly doesn't deserve the 3.6 it has. It's not THAT bad, just people being trolls. In reality, I would give this game a 9/10 BUT because of the amount of trolls that need to be countered, I'm giving it a ten. Maybe someday the 10's will displace the 0's...

By not including an offline single player they have kicked the hornets nest of hackers/crackers. This only challenges them big time to bring a hack/crack to the masses. Only thing this game should have had was a cd check and cd key. Hackers and pirates always have the last laugh. IT is a waste of time and developer resources to craft, license and wrap a product in DRM. It is a waste of time because it drags out the development process and this dragging out does not bring anything innovative or new to the product Expand

    4. The graphics are bad? No, Diablo is supposed to have an artstyle like this. What do you want? FPS style with the flashiest game engine?
    5. The story and the gameplay is not bad. But I understand why 99% of you don't get the story when you rush through the game. Maybe you should play at a slower pace and pay more attention on detalis and lore? And the voiceacting is not bad.

Been waiting a long time for D3. Waited a long time to download it. 3 minutes in and I was already hugely disappointed. This is 2012 but the game looks worse than D2. Graphics are crap, way too linear and movement is horrible. Sorry Blizz but can't see myself completing this one. You had a lot of time to get it right and, in my opinion anyway, you completely missed the board.

Diablo 3 along with Fable 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 have taken what were excellent examples of adventure/action/rpg games and turned them into something else. I was honestly going to skip this game but my wife picked it up for me as a gift. After staring at the box for about half an hour I finally decided to install it. Upon installing the game I was greeted with a slew of errors while attempting to log in and finally gave up late in the evening on launch day. I went to bed feeling as though I should have went with my gut reaction and returned the game. I was especially annoyed at the utter lack of offline play modes. Regardless of Blizzard's reasoning behind this decision, it was a poor decision at best. This might seem like a viable idea, but I live in an area where broadband internet may or may not be available depending on where you live. Anyone who lives in a rural area, especially in mountainous areas will literally be unable to play. If I were to visit my relatives, I wouldn't be able to play due to the fact that they can really only get dial-up connections and even cell services are spotty.

The day after the theoretical launch day, I was finally able to play after work. I immediately felt underwhelmed by the graphics and feel of game play. The character movement and battle feels stiff and unexciting and the UI feels sub-optimal. I immediately noticed the lack of zoom capability with mouse wheel (admittedly nit-picky but this is really design heuristics 101), although there is a zoom button ('z') which zooms you all the way in or out. I haven't played it long enough to be certain, but it seems like a lot of the character customization appears to have been changed and or removed leaving the level profession feeling lackluster.

The lesson learned here is when dealing with sequels (or Blizzard) wait until the reviews come in or find a used copy in the bargain bin. Gameplay: mediocre
    Graphics: mediocre
    Online Requirement: dismal

I love Warcraft, love WoW, love Starcraft. but by no means would I call myself a Blizz fanboy. I have to say, the game, whilst it is slightly addictive, it is very meh and mediocre at best. Very fun to pull a million mobs with my Barbarian, stun them and Hammer them all to death, but i see myself after running the game through once, putting it aside and never playing again. To me the game is one where you switch your brain off and spam click your mouse with no real skill depth or tactics, its a very cheap thrill that should have been developed alot better as a genre redefining RPG hacknslash and not a game that feels like i downloaded it off Steam from an indie producer...this is Blizzard we are talking about, a developer who redefined the MMORPG and Strategy genres single handedly in the 90's and early 2000's.

Has the corporate giant Activision really sapped all creativty from the team at Blizzard?. Sadly yes.

And to all the people complaining about server/login issues. Stop crying, its opening day. Obviously you have never attempted to login on WoW expac release day, now that is a nightmare and a half.

All in all, im having fun, and thats all you can ask from a video game. But really, considering the hype, the legacy of previous Diablo titles and the developer, i can actually understand why the community feels let down slightly.

Well, everybody trusts Blizzard that we should be fine from here on. But let's look at the game itself. First, it is not truly a 3D game, although it is 3D modeled, the camera is locked in place. In east Asia, this is called 2.5D. And if you look at the character setting, it smells Korean. Now, let's look at the game play. It is really Diablo II or even Diablo I, exactly the same formula, you head into a dungeon, kill some monsters, loot, and sell your loot. You don't even have any choice to develop your character, everything is preset. The only random thing is what item you can find, and what you can make by crafting. Then you can sell them in the auction house. All in all, it gives you a really retro feeling. I'm like back to my childhood when Diablo I on 1024x768 looked really stunning. All these being said, why I didn't score it in the reds? Because like every other Blizzard game, I found this game still very addicting. This is exactly because the game play is streamlined and simplified. Diablo III is a GAME. You have a simple set of rules (controlled by computer), and you choose from a set of strategies to beat it. There is no fancy plots, tough choices to make. We have enough fancy plots and tough choices in our real life. Why want more? A lot of games now a day tries to be thoughtful, tries to give you another life. People likes them (including me) because it gives the feeling of another life. But sometimes, you just want to sit down and play UNO with little kids. And that's what Diablo gives you. Just sit down forget about your life and play. I think I'll sink countless hours into Diablo III just like the previous two. Expand

The new "Spell System" with the runes and everything is working quite good imo, so in PvP you wont see players with the same build as you and you have a lot of versatility in what you wanna go. DRM - really what is the issue here. In my books Blizzard is one of the few companies that support the PC so if they want to add DRM to protect their millions of dollars of investment so they can keep making PC games then it is okay by me. If you can't get an Internet connection where you live then get a pirate version because then in blizzards eyes you are not a potential customer, as you have no Internet they haven't lost any revenue from you by you getting a pirate version.

Diablo 2 was just a simple enter into the game and simply start clicking on enemies, it had nice atsmophere and great animation for its time. It's sad that one of the things i most loved about Diablo 2 was it's Design and due to MODERN GAMES they have to completly change the style of Diablo, it's like Blizzard forgot how to do a Diablo game and simply borrow its style from its recent games such as World of Warcraft or Starcraft 2. The cutscenes are a great example of this, they are so generic it makes Final Fantasy parodies look a bit original, when in Diablo 2 cutscenes where dark and full of good spacing. It's a good thing i follow the rule of "Don't worry nothing will harm or modify your opinion on the experience you had with the predecessors" Because gee out of anything Diablo 3 Is pretty much one of the weakest Blizzard games I have played. It's so much fun both alone and playing co-op with friends, but it doesn't feel unbalanced choosing one over the other. Unlike most ARPG's the story really interests me and the world has a host of back story that's a joy to discover, the lore is very well crafted. I'd be tempted to give the game a 10, however the always-online aspect slightly tarnishes its otherwise flawless image for me, but this is only a minor issue and I'd recommend the game to anyone. All these negative reviews are beyond me, I've not had a single issue since buying the game, it's so unjustified giving a game 0 because you got an error message, these reviews are meant to be about the game itself surely? So, this is a review from someone who has not played the previous 2 Diablo games. I can definitely tell that a lot of time was put into it. The lore, the art style, the music, it all fits together well and looks great. The graphics look a bit sub-par, but this could be due to the art-style chosen. The graphics are by no means bad though. The gameplay get a little repetitive sometimes, but this is made up for by different environments and enemies to fight. I love anything with loot, this game delivers. There's plenty up for grabs after defeating enemies, smashing things, and so on. I have used the auction house, I personally don't think I'll use it much but it's a great extra feature to have. Now, all that said, that all applies to when the game actually works.

Every time I have tried to play the game, I am plagued with login errors. I have had the game itself lag out due to connection issues. Blizzard has taken the servers down a few times for maintenance as well, which prevents you from playing the single-player at all because you cannot login. I have been, and am only interest in, playing single-player. Having to be online, logged in to their servers just to play the game is an extremely huge issue for me. This is the first game I have purchased with DRM as such, and I will NEVER make that mistake again. This feature, to me, renders the game broken. I cannot give a broken game a good rating. All that said, if they patch the game with an offline mode I would gladly give this something upwards of an 8... It's current state only deserves about a 3. I would not recommend this game to a friend because they would then want to fight me for making them spend $60 on something they cannot even use, and cannot return. You would honestly be better off waiting for a "cracked" version of the game that you can play offline, any time, anywhere. I do not agree with piracy at all, but in this situation I would almost encourage it. I own the game and if a pirated version gets out that I can play offline, I would download it immediately and give it more play than the version that I paid full price for.

Game looks great from what I have seen of it. Server troubles and random disconnects keep alot of us from seeing too much but I think it's getting better

Better take your sword, spells, or whatever and go there to fight evil. Just be prepared, there is much evil there and you better not go alone. 12 hours is not acceptable in the post Skyrim gaming era. They apparently took a year per hour of gameplay. Sad to wait so long and get so little. I get the replay concept, but replaying on harder difficulties does not equal new content or more fun.

A lot of 0's for 1st day's high server traffic. Today - second day - no problems connecting at all.

If you were looking for Diablo 2.5 you're not going to get it. Games have come along way in 10 years and D3 shows that. It's a shame because the same people raging are the people who said "Call of Duty 3 sucks it's the same game the push out every year". Blizzard try's to push the genre and people get pissed because it's not a polished Diablo 2. Great game to play

The story's no worse than most RPG's I've played. I'd say it's much better than Kindom's of Amular that was written by a world renowned Fantasy writer.

Remember how much fun the first Diablo was? Yeah, this isn't it. It feels like this weird combination of Lego Star Wars and the World of Warcraft character tree. It's boring and repetitive and I'm unhappy that I wasted money on it. I'd be mad about having to be online to play, but I just don't feel like playing it again. Maybe you just can't go back.

Any game that requires the player to have a broadband internet connection in his home just to play the single player campaign gets a big fat zero from me.

Even though the problems that surfaced during the first hours of the game were huge for a lot of people, I think a fair review should not give them a lot of relevance. Having said that, and focusing on the game itself, I'm very well impressed, the game is exceptionally polished, game play is super fun, the pace and difficulty is extremely well tuned (being a "regular" player you get to almost dead a lot of times, but always feel you can overcome it if played correctly).

got a 'starter key' from a friend. downloaded it and got stuck in 'updating setup files'. fixed it after an hour and then got a 'corrupted data' when the installer ran. started the downloader again and it started from 5% to download the whole game again. i'm so happy that i did not waste 60 bucks on that piece of ****.

Graphics are really good even it's not same "realistic **** graphics" like in Battlefield 3 that need way too lot power from PC but at least Diablo 3 runs very smoothly at all graphic setting maxed.
Online base single-player is good thing and bad thing, good thing is with this way they can prevent hackers and botters to ruin this game that happened to Diablo 2 (And that why i never playd Diablo 2 online because of hackers and botters), but bad thing is you can't play it without internet connection and also it make some connection problems too.
Mostly i really like the co-op system it's so easly to jump friends game, others games or make your game as public that any one can join.

Overall game is solid and really fun to play hack & slash game.

My one major complaint is that the game never feels very difficult, especially on Normal. There are frustrating moments, hordes of baddies, and increasing difficulty levels, but the same feeling of utter defeat never really happens as it did in the past.

For all the game's missteps, though, you certainly can't accuse Blizzard of phoning it in - if anything, the game suffers from the tendency to try a little to hard at times to evolve the design. [Aug 2012, p.61]

When it works, Diablo III is the best of the Diablo games. When it doesn't, all it does is make you mad. [July 2012, p.54]
