    Fantastic remake of a fantastic game. There were soume lounch issues with server (like with every online game) but they were fixed in 2 days completely, so... 10/10.

    After 10 hours played Diablo 2: Ressurected. I can say this remaster has a HIGH QUALITY! Better Graphics then Diablo 3.

    Diablo 2 is the single game I have spent the most amount of hours playing across nearly a decade of my life. D2R is a fantastic remaster of the classic game. It adds a few quality of life improvements that truly make things more convenient, such as large shared stashes, while keeping a lot of the rough edges of the original game that have been eclipsed by more modern trends in gaming.Diablo 2 is the single game I have spent the most amount of hours playing across nearly a decade of my life. D2R is a fantastic remaster of the classic game. It adds a few quality of life improvements that truly make things more convenient, such as large shared stashes, while keeping a lot of the rough edges of the original game that have been eclipsed by more modern trends in gaming. Rough edges is meant in a truly positive regard, as this was pretty much the Wild West of online RPGs. The ability to transition between legacy graphics and remastered graphics really makes you have appreciation for how they managed to make the game play exactly as it did 20 years ago while drastically improving the graphics. I look forward to many hours with this game. This is a true remaster, and this is exactly what true Diablo 2 fans will love.

    Just a little sidebar comment. The review bombs on this game are a bit ridiculous. The game did experience server issues at launch, but at most, I was unable to connect to a game for 15-20 minutes on maybe three occasions - inconvenient, but not game breaking, and it will stabilize in time (plus, its truly a remastered experience of D2, which always had server problems lol). I have had the game crash two times on me, which again, inconvenient, but its not game breaking and I trust it will be fixed in updates. All of the other complaints are just ridiculous, especially from people who stated that they played the original game!    … Expand

    Multiplayer in the game does not work 48 hours after starting the servers.
    Otherwise, probably a good remaster to try out, of course, which was not fully possible.

    The king of Looter action RPGs is back and looking better than ever. Yet I see idiots review bombing this game just because of minor server issues which is normally expected on game release.     The king of Looter action RPGs is back and looking better than ever. Yet I see idiots review bombing this game just because of minor server issues which is normally expected on game release.

    The best way of describing this remaster is puppeting the original game with better visuals and sound. Gamers can easily switch between the OG game to the current by pressing L2 and sensor button which shows the journey of the game.

    The cinematics have been revamped as well and noticed the iconic music is a lot cleaner. Controller support has also been added obviously for console and is a breath of fresh air. It can be annoying especially with Necromancer's Corpse explosion where you can't specifically blow up the right corpse and the auto aim is not strategical compared to point and click with the mouse. Although, getting to skills is faster by mapping them to buttons and shoulder buttons.

    Everything else is the Diablo you know and love. PS5 gives the option for performance mode to 60fps which the OG was known to be stuttery at times barely hitting 30. Character and weapon models have been changed and the game with HDR in play makes dungeon crawling in the dark fantastic.

    There has been a lot of ease of game issues addressed, the key one being the inventory space and shared stash.

    Multiplayer I found to be way easier on console compared to PC as you can just invite your friend in game. On PC you have to create an annoying private lobby for your friends to join in.

    Overall, I love the game. Pure nostalgia has hit, and I'll be invested to getting these 7 heroes to Hell mode and try to get a Platinum (looks at the Hardcore mode Lvl 99 with fear).

    9 out of 10 for console

    This is exactly what i was looking for in a remaster of this legendary game.

    Great graphics, sounds and those cinematic's, goosebumps.

    Even though modding has been dumped on i cannot allow that to take away from what a great remaster this is.

    Nostalgia overload.

    Reproducing the original work faithfully. Diablo 2 was an actual masterpiece back then, and exactly contrary to WC3:Reforged, D2R is quite a good remaster. Mostly because the original game is so excellent, but D2R is recommendable just by reflecting it well.

    Diablo 2 was the best ARPG ever made...Resurrected is even better. 4k 60fps ultra plays and looks incredible. 100/100 masterpiece.

    This game deserves a 10 out of 10 for being a perfect remaster of a beloved classic. Besides a few hiccups at launch day the game has been running smoothly and the polish and love for the source material really shines.

    - price is too high.

    The all time Classic is perfectly alive again! Some server issues which is normal on such a big launch. Game itself is flawless.

    At least it's not Warcraft 3 Reforged...Vicarious Visions did an excellent job here reviving perhaps the greatest ARPG ever. Love the cross-progression but where is the cross play? Hopefully it's coming. Otherwise this would be a 9.

    Better looking version of the gold oe game.... Really! It is the same game! - including the bugs. Can you imagine how screwed up this is: Selling a 20 year old game with better graphics for 2/3 of a full-prize game and not even bothering to fix game-breaking bugs. This is the state of Blizzard in a nutshell for you. Living quite literaly from the past.

If your biggest complaint with a video game is that the women aren't attractive enough, you really need to re-evaluate your sweaty, pathetic existence.

Also people just hating blizzard to hate which is unfortunate because this game was made in a totally different studio that was only recently acquired.

    I myself had concerns about some of the art direction, but that all washed away once i started playing. There are still a few bugs and issues but they are very minor and I trust them to fix the issues in the next couple months. Items don't identify in the cube, the merc screen is not accurate. Mostly just the lobby system needs a more modern update to be able to quickly identify and join the right kinds of games.    … Expand

I picked this up on the Series X and while it’s a grind, the game really starts to open up late in Act I. The game looks fantastic and I’m enjoying exploring different characters and builds. I picked this up on the Series X and while it’s a grind, the game really starts to open up late in Act I. The game looks fantastic and I’m enjoying exploring different characters and builds. While equipment and loot management can be frustrating, you quickly learn to focus on the most valuable drops versus filling up your inventory every five minutes and traveling to town. I understand the players that were frustrated at launch due to server problems, but I would venture in saying most of the “0’s” here haven’t tried the game. I saw a comment on pay to win boosts and I honestly have no idea what it’s referring to after 30 hours with the game. Although I know players develop trading economies outside the game, the game is not forcing micro transactions or passes in-game. I also don’t understand giving a “0” because you don’t like the art direction of one or two characters. Really? I hate their face, therefore the whole game is crap?! Dark Alliance got less hate than this and the game was just a re-release in 4K. This is a beautiful game that retains the historical core gameplay. It’s exactly what I wanted. Not a re-make, not a reboot, just an incredible way to experience the original game. Running the game in performance mode on Series X is a thing of beauty. This game is the top game in my console right now. It even made me go back to Diablo III as I start to understand the narrative a little more between the two games.… Expand

The gameplay, the atmosphere, the graphics, the music, the narrative, are all fantastic and top-notch. But the game has lots of bugs in it right now, and some are spoiling of the experience.     They did an amazing job!!!! Just like the old game but visually pleasing to look at! That's what we wanted!!!! This game is so much better than D3 or much of the "new stuff" that comes out these days. It's deep min/maxing. You can actually die in this game! To all the haters out there, move on. This game isn't for you.

    Very nice game, a huge nostalgia trip. There was a rough launch, but as of now it is good, bugs are minor and generally, it plays well. Gamepad support on PC is nice to have, you can finally chill while running MF.

    I love the game! I can't stop playing and thinking about it! Sends me back with nostalgia hard. Server issues on launch will get fixed. I look forward to what VV has in store next for Seasons or additional content! :)

    This is the game I remember but beautiful. While there are quality of life improvements like a shared stash this is a decades old game and it plays like it. In my opinion this is a good thing, not everyone agrees.

Some of my colleagues even lost an hour of progress. That sucks. But did it ever work for any popular game on release? Even New World struggles, keeping their players in the queue for hours, and they run it on Amazon's server cluster. What are we allowed to expect of an online game on release? I find it understandable to let off some steam. I did curse a lot. On the second day I was able to play a lot more, and during the rest of week I could even start a couple new session within an hour (for countess and baal runs). So they fixed it, at least the major issues, which found very much to my liking. De-sync still exists some times, so I'd avoid playing hardcore just yet, give the devs some time to make the game more stable.

    Antique controls: Yes, they are antique (if 20 years is enough to call it antique) because they didn't change it. They kept every mechanical aspect of the old game, and re-done all the graphics. My favorite is the running animation of the avatar when it apruptly changes it's direction. Not only mechanics, but also gear, runewords, skills, attributes and all that is kept as it was, which enables me to take an old build guide and play a class as if I was playing the old game, but with excellent visuals. I like how they changed the graphics and animations, but what I like more is that they didn't change anything else. Well, some things bug me still, e.g. getting to a portal when surrounded my enemies, but that's kept same as well.

    So if you like contemporary gameplay, go for D3, Path of Exile or similar popular isometric ARPGs, this game is for those who liked it before, and maybe those who enjoy 'antiqury' games in general. I still play Need for Speed Underground and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Dark Souls, but struggle to commit to buying any new ones. Actually I'll get Cyberpunk anytime soon, but as with Witcher 3 I usually always wait until all major bugs are accounted for.

However it seems they didn't fix some of the issues it had since then, which at times is pretty annoying, especially if you consider paying money for this game (40 Euros isn't cheap tbh).
    It's because i would have liked seeing them release a fixed version (i still have    Being a old school and long time Diablo 2 player, i will say it's the game i used to love and play way back in the day. However it seems they didn't fix some of the issues it had since then, which at times is pretty annoying, especially if you consider paying money for this game (40 Euros isn't cheap tbh).
    It's because i would have liked seeing them release a fixed version (i still have all my old and later disc / dvd copies) for that amount but unfortunately they haven't done so yet. There might be fixes or patches coming to address the faulty hitboxes and pathfinding issues etc it currently has a lot of.
    Other than that, it's a fairly stable game with a steady player base, and the entire game including expansion to keep you busy with for quite some time even for casual players..
    I'll rate it 7/10 but that's because i loved the original which to me personally is still a far better version, and the 2008 version is actually better than this one as well, no lie i can play it perfectly on Windows 10 without that much adjustment needed to run it smooth as butter and on 1080p.
    But hey, hopefully this game gets the help where it needs and afterwards i'll gladly rate it higher than a 7/10. For now, i just can't but nonetheless i'm enjoying Diablo 2 Resurrected despite its flaws.    … Expand

Even to thus day that game was one if the best games ever made. Diablo 3 was such a disappointment. All i dreamed was to see return of Diablo 2 with a bit sharper picture. What was my surprise when i launched this remaster, oh my god! It looks so good, II've played Diablo 2 as one of my first PC games in PC club back in 1999. It was a world of wonders, grim caves and red skinned demons. Even to thus day that game was one if the best games ever made. Diablo 3 was such a disappointment. All i dreamed was to see return of Diablo 2 with a bit sharper picture. What was my surprise when i launched this remaster, oh my god! It looks so good, I haven't dreamed about this kind of graphics improvement! I can't even imagine how hard it was to recreate this game in a new graphic shell.
    Someone told that this game looks just like he remembers it looked back in the day and i can relate to that. Itls a magic. Thank you Blizzard! I've lost any interest in you since StarCraft 2 release (love that game), but now i see that i could give Diablo 4 a chance.    … Expand

    Ignore the review bombing sheep, anyone whose actually played this will know it's a wonderful remaster. It's hard to believe Diablo 2 can look this good while the original game runs underneath. There are plenty of excellent QoL changes as well, 10/10

    The same with improved graphic design, thank god. Old good original diablo is one of the best-rated games here so I am confused about people giving rapidly low scores. And there is a bunch of weird people who are posting "it is the same game" comments - which should be obvious if it's just remastered.

    My biggest issue is with the lobby and server list. It should have been modernized. I don't find a way to join the same chat lobby as my friends. They still have the short server names with "O this N that R...". Not exactly newcomer friendly. Would love to have a trade channel in the chat easily accessible from a dropdown list.

    It is not possible to remaster D2 without dividing opinions. I think they mostly took the right approach here though.    … Expand

    Not being victim of this internet outrage I've been enjoying the game instead of feeling neglected because something isn't exactly like I wanted it to be. Great graphical overhaul and great quality of life improvements. Still feels/looks the part. Love it!

Monster animations are all as faithful to the original, in spite of a 2020 coat of detailing. Go ahead and press G - you can see the legacy graphics for yourself and compare how the difference in two decades are so si.ilar... ...all the while, the sounds are remastered. AI is designed from original source code. Level design is unchanged. The abusable things are still abusable. Even the loading screen is the same legacy screen! This is the Diablo 2 you remembered, and it looks amazing.

    VV's added some 2021 to the papa of "RNGesus" while staying strictly to the original design. For example, you never had things like "auto gold pick-up", or a friend's list in the lobby to quickly join your buddies, or an ability to compare items side by side without flipping between the two. Monumental additions these are not - VV changes to the D2 are helpful in the background =because= any changes in a remaster ought to be barely noticeable (Warcraft reforged being example of what not to do).

    Some will say - I don't know what to do! The game never told me! No "information book with the CD" anymore! No guidance on how to play! That's exactly why D2:R is an awesome game to play. In Diablo 2's time, it was sink or swim as a gamer. "Here's a masterpiece dungeon crawler - it's not rocket science, but it's on you to discover the details for yourself. You're going to die." Or just Google it, you dolt.

    Some will say - organizing items is a pain. Did you run out scroll of town portal? Maybe if you stopped picking up useless garbage like a vacuum cleaner, it wouldn't be so bad. Besides, this is a 20 year old game - "suck it up princess". VV even gave you 4 extra stashes, 3 shared across characters, so you don't need mules to transfer items anymore. Hey look - another nice 2020 touch, without violating the spirit of the game. That's what I'm talking about.

    The initial issues with teh servers, by blizzard standfards was managed exceptionally well, all being resolved within a day. Leaving the only real outstanding gripe that of mod suuport.

    With that out of the way, as a lifelong ARPG player I am happy to say that I'm hooked all over again with D2 resurrected. The graphics are top notch and the devs have made excellent quality of life changes. D2 resurrected is certainly a relic of the past with many dated and clunky mechanics, but coming back 20 years later you really see just why this game was a genre defining masterpiece.

    The atmosphere, character development, itemization and pacing is just excellent and d2 resurrected shines brightly even decades later. My only complaint is that they didn't do even more QOL changes but I anticipate more improvements to come.

    There have been server and database issues on days 1 and 2 of launch with a small percentage of players locked out for a week due to old CPU architectures. There are a few bugs too, however, they are mostly minor and hard to notice.

    The downside of the game content is mostly with the lobby UI. It's awkward and looks more outdated than the original and QoL features such as filters should really be present. On the plus, there are many new QoL changes in-game with more found in the options.

    D2 fans will not be disappointed, but those who haven't played D2 before might still have a difficult time simply because older games tend to be less intuitive. However, D2R is a remaster as opposed to a remake so changing core game design is perhaps unrealistic.

    Overall, the new 3D engine and art are incredible and it feels like a significant improvement over the original; Vicarious Visions should be proud. My biggest gripe is it feels a bit rushed out and hence issues within the first week, unfortunately, this is typical of Activision and most modern publishers.

    In terms of negative reviews, the most censor worthy content is female bosses and monsters, yet they are unchanged. The criticism appears to focus on female characters who were made to look more realistic. However, it seems these identities are so invested in breast size that the mere sight of reduction is enough to create an existential crisis. I think most people can likely cope, however.

    If you feel you can look past the political climate and want to experience a classic game, then D2R is an excellent choice.    … Expand

    Vicarious Visions nailed it. To everyone there: you accomplished something wonderful with this remaster. The care that went into it is evident in every part of the game. (To the negative reviewers who complained about the rough launch -- yes it was frustrating, but anyone who expected that to go smoothly had unrealistic expectations.)

I'm doing loot runs, carefully building my character with the best loot possible, planning to go beyond Normal difficulty and into Nightmare and Hell difficulty this time.     It's just amazing. It's exactly what a remaster should be. They stayed true to the setting, all the blood and everything is there and improved in some places. I hope D4 takes hints from this remaster because it's definitely a step in the right direction. 10/10.

They added virtually no improvements to lobby menus, chat channels, game creation, nor trading. The menus themselves are unfortunately dated from day one. Im hoping Blizzard will continue to support server stability, as well as improve lobby UI.

Buy it and disregard haters/whatever label we can use for this people.… Expand

Whether I disliked the boring combat, convoluted skill trees or moronic itemization ("legendary and unique" items dropping every minute, yay!) I always found myself returning to D2 even though it was outdated in some aspects.

    It is very disappointing when juvenile gamers are raiting game by its game launch and not its quility.
    Folks this is not remake it is remaster. All mechanic and content are should be exactly same that was in 2000. And this what really should be rated.

    This was on 2 first weeks of release at September 21, but now endless disconnects and queue for Battle.net (For simple playing) makes this game 2 of 10.

    Corrent issues with game are not developers fault. But yes of managers, which are salling it without providing enough computing resources for online game. They even decided to remove LAN play that even makes this issue bigger.
    Possibly proper limited sales per region in waves was preventing this issue (With correct perdiction of computing resources growing for online). And leaving everyone happy and keeping hype.    … Expand

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
