With Destiny 2, the game has excellent graphics, maps, and in some ways the new plot like raid, strikes and with new features, such as search groups are great.
However, the one thing that greatly disappointed me about Bungie and/or Activision, is the misleading behavior. Not just misleading, but plain lies to us, the consumers. The following are just examples:

    • They misled the game community with the XP rewards.
    • They misled us with the overall reward logarithm, e.g. three of coins
    • The initial s block of previously purchased game content from players that didn’t bought the new DLC, curse of Osiris.
    • Micro transactions through Eververse. Most of the cool rewards are behind this character. Probably, it may give some advantages in PVP to players who spent additional money purchasing through Eververse.

These are examples of a company who doesn’t care about ethics, its customers, quality control etc. On top of that, the new DLC curse of Osiris for $20, which in my opinion, is not a DLC. A DLC that can be finished within a couple of hours is just proof of the rip off.
I understand that Activision wants to make money, but lying and ripping off its customers it’s just not right. Unfortunately, I purchased the game with its DLC expansions. But, not in the future, I’ll never purchase any Bungie’s game in the future, just like I did with EA.
Activision and/or Bungie has adopted an overpriced with the minimum-development model at the expense of the game content. To be fair, I give this game 5 out of 10.

This game optimises every bad part of the gaming industry.

    * The Menu and Party UI is the worst of any game I've ever played. In our attempts to try humour the game we would often spend 15 minutes trying to work out why the game deemed us unworthy to join as a group before giving up. * DLC: Jesus Bungie take me out to dinner before you **** me. * DLC: Jesus Bungie take me out to dinner before you **** me. There's a special level of arrogance for a game as boring, mundane and repetitive as this to feel itself worthy of DLC. (More on this in a second), let alone DLC that becomes ESSENTIAL to the game. Was £45 not enough for your Shooter inspired loot simulator?

    * The game is not fun. It's clear Bungie created a nice game engine with some good shooting mechanics, put a lot of thought into how to maximize revenue from the game then released it. I'd love to know who the first was to realise they forgot to actually develop a game in the middle of all this.

    * The Story: Literally the most boring, uninspired **** I've ever had to endure.

Seriously **** this game, I've never felt as cheated out of £45 in my life. I will never buy anything associated Bungie, their developers or their developers children ever again.

Lack of content and lack of hats is just overwhelmingly horrible. If you like to play extremely casually, this may be your game. If you are looking for interesting game to play longer than few weeks, ignore this instantly, don't think about buying this.

This game was a disapointment. I was hyped and the game was hyped beyond anything realistic and also game magazines or online journals have rated this game very high (88 here). So I expected a game that is keeping you motivated playing it. The story is weak, linear nothing unpredictable any turn. So a 1st grade could have written the story.
Also the story is the only thing worth playing

Also the story is the only thing worth playing in this game, then you may have some fun in getting to highest power level. Thats it then - you are done and nothing left over to do anymore. The loot shooter or in more generic looter concept has been hidden behind paywall and does not make any sense in a looter. You want to find loot and feel rewarded for the grinding. However the game modes does not support this. You do not get anything rewarding from strikes or from PVP or from Raids. So why bother playing it and grinding over the same mission again and again and again? It is just booring and you simply do not get all the outfits and loot and weapon increase you would expect from a looter. So that is where the whole game fails.
Bungy does make the same mistakes again, that has been done with Diablo3 in the early years - trying to get money out of a looter by putting the main principle within a real money store. That does not work, cause there is no reason to play it anymore.

Beyond that, ethically questionable to put more then 50% of all items behind a paywall within full price game with DLCs . Also limiting the possiblity to get this items for free in a looter does not make any sense and is pure greed.

Destiny 2 promised a lot. After playing through most of the games, I can say that I expected more. The characters are horrible - all trying to be funny constantly. It would be fine if it was Cayde-6 only, but it isn't. How am I supposed to take a game serious if it doesn't take itself serious? The graphics are good, and it is a well optimized game. The gameplay is boring. It is the same over and over. You run through a similar, small map. Enemies appear. You shoot the enemies. Your ghost or some of the characters says something cheesy. Enemies appear once again. You shoot them once again. And it just goes like that. I have finished Destiny along with it's expansions, and except for the graphics, Destiny 2 shouldn't be a new game. They have a lot in common, not just the same atmosphere, but also the same gameplay, enemies, map system, quests and all that.

On top of that, the game is a cash grab. Just look into all the frauds the developers have made. For example, they reduced the amount of XP you would normally have received for activities in max level. And they kept it hidden! Why? So it would take you longer to get those bright engrams (loot boxes), and that would increase the chance of you buying them for real money.

So yeah - I am disappointed.

I'm sure console players must think there is a lot of content but there isn't. The whole game feels bland. The PVE is a lot easier on PC due to m/kb controls and graphic advancements so you can outrange enemies easily. I think PC players were once again fooled into thinking that this would be something great on PC due to PC trailers. It's sad that we can no longer have trust for Bungie - another studio lost to their own greed and pride.

This is one uniquely kind of game, that is relatively good looking but has such a crappy aftertaste in almost any aspect (totally incoherent and blundered story, bugs, design faults, willful programmed obsolescence, deceitful game mechanics etc etc etc), that you can not stop the urge rinsing your mouth with powerful disinfectant, as with every new bite and extension you want to vomit more out than you already ate. DO NOT BUY THAT CRAP.

It would not be fair to give that game a 0, because it can be fun playing it initially, yet after a short while (yeah the so called story line is rather quickly done...) and when one has grinded long enough to get the character classes and sub-classes to max, one quickly gets the epiphany that that was it. One raid in the endgame with a prestige mode that does not really get you better stats loot, repetitive strikes and heroic strikes and nightfall activities that result in no big loot gains but having ridiculous features in it, so you only can play them more or less with pro players only because of some really bad modifier combos.

That game with all its bugs and design failures, and with the implementation of unseen and unscrupulous monetization mechanics, that just aim to squeeze and squeeze more and more money out of you - the buyer- , and all the game gives you is that bitter aftertaste in your mouth, as if you licked a load of dirt; it is a game that will get you on the long run into that depressive state where you pull and pull the lever of the one armed bandit of game mechanics and loot boxes and hope for the win and satisfaction that never comes. Just more crap more or less openly dumped on you.

If you are a masochist that enjoys pain, then that is the game for you. It will keep you grinding for nothing. It will give you crucible matches you constantly yell about and scream in anger, because Bungie implemented a peer to peer model so they have saved bucks on their infrastructure and server capacity and optimized their cash flow.

Yes, the cash flow that goes from your pocket to their managers bonuses being so innovative to sell you AAA priced faulty and buggy software, that gets you to vomit and yell on a constant pace like Linda Blair in the Exorcist.

Below are the issues I have.
    - 60FPS in game but 30FPS on cinematics.. makes a difference when the switch happens.
    - Leveling is done way before the end-boss of original content. LVL 20 is max in base game and 25 for Osiris expansion.
    - Sparrows are pointless in this game as they make you beat the game to use one (unless you earn one from a bright engram) This creates large areas where the game goes from a FPS to a walking simulator.
    - Items are small in quantity with new ones that were in original Destiny being brought back only not as good. Unique items such as skins, sparrows, ships, class gear, special event gear, come from Engrams which are earned every faux level after max level.. or purchasable with Silver which is the in game micro transaction currency.
    - Communication is horrible.. There is no general chat, clan chat, or easy way to get anything going in a MMO FPS game that focuses on PVP, Raids, and Strikes.. Oh but wait Activision and Bungie must love Nintendo because they made a mobile Destiny app that allows you to find that special clan and chat with them.
    - Bungie kept the aim assist in the PC version which combined with the 60FPS and Keyboard/Mouse combo makes this game easy to do whatever.. I died the first time well after beating the main story during the raid.
    - Still the same lame concept.. kill wave after wave and then any enemy you see in world.. know there are 3 of them.. Bungie can't seem to do things in random numbers.
    - The planets seem much small in Destiny 2.. I never use sparrow unless I'm doing a strike or something where people avoid enemies and just try and go fast through the content.
    - The farm is a great place but like the first game you eventually get a big city which is basically just a big walking simulator which contains just pointless halls and needs to be 90% smaller.. think farm or PSO lobbies.

Also I can't stand the fact that they already have a expansion which I also played and it sucked.. Smallest planet and it makes the light level achieved during Leviathan Raid pointless. This accompanied with the low content level shows Bungie and Activision hide content behind paywalls.

Good game and while I still play its mainly to do Milestones and Crucible matchmaking.

I was pretty fond of the first Destiny, though it took me some time to warm up to it and there are things about it I never liked, most notably the scummy way they handled the Taken King release and the exceedingly awkward controls on PS3. It had a pretty great soundtrack though.

The thing is, what I like about Destiny 2 is pretty much entirely the fact that it has a PC version. Aiming and shooting feels appropriately smooth and responsive, and load times are much improved. Past that, If i didn't have friends who play it I probably would have abandoned it already. As it is, I received the game and first expansion from a friend and haven't spent one red cent on it. Said friend is also the sort of person that aggressively defends every aspect of a game they like, even one with such an obvious myriad of flaws as this one.

Here's the ugly details. For every thing they sort of improved, there's ten boneheaded things at every level of this game's design, more then I could possibly fit here. Every time I play I discover something new and even more stupid. I can't say I find its low user review score here on Metacritic surprising. There's so much that I'm just going to summarize.

    Pros
    - Primary weapons were improved considerably. They're now, well. PRIMARIES. As in, your main weapon, the thing you get kills with. I've heard complaints about this on reddit, but I like what they did with them. Especially the Vigilance Wing.
    - Less compartmentalization of content. Story and side missions are now properly integrated into the exploration zones.
    - Many more color options for gear.
    - Auto rifles were buffed. This was badly needed.

Cons. Where do I even begin?
    - Though it's hardly terrible, the plot is still very thin, even for an FPS. It's at least more focused and coherent then the first game, but it's written a little too plainly, making Cayde's silliness feel a little too on-point. The extensive background, in particular the obscure literary references offered by some of the Exotic lores, suggests an epic of science-fantasy, grand adventure and the power of friendship. What we get is little more then an episode of a cartoon- admittedly, one that might run on Toonami.
    - On that note, they make even less use of their own lore then the first game did, if that's at all possible. I've never seen a series so afraid to revel in its own worldbuilding.
    - Twelve players in the first game's Crucible PVP was bad enough. But eight? I am so tired of this trend of steadily shrinking player counts in versus games. If I wanted to duel players I'd play a game that has a dual mode. This small team crap is boring. Combined with the disparity in effectiveness between many of the guns, god awful map design and complete lack of any kind of skill bracketing in the matchmaking, you will lose a majority of matches, sometimes to such crushing odds that the match will end early out of pity. Also, it shamelessly rips its gametypes from Call of Duty and Counter-Strike.
    - Why the hell is it only on Battle.net? Did Gabe Newell crap in Bobby Kotick's corn flakes?
    - Also, matchmaking. It's as dumb now as when it was first implemented in Halo 2. It has no place in a PC release.
    - Handcannons were nerfed. This was NOT badly needed. At least not where PVE is concerned.
    - Where the hell is the Last Word? Why ommit any Exotics from the first game at all?
    - You're likely not to get a Sparrow until after you've completed the man story. That's asinine.
    - The Warlock Glide is completely screwed up compared to the first game. I'm not sure what they did wrong but it frequently does not get you to where you need to go.
    - The ledge grab maneuver would be a welcome addition- if it worked 100% of the time. As it is, it's rather finickey.
    - Individual Strikes are no longer accessible from the Director or for that matter from the exploration zones as they should be. Instead, there's only the Strike Playlist. This strikes me as more odd then annoying, but still.
    - In order to increment the Rat King quest, someone else on your team needs to have the quest or the weapon. This isn't mentioned anywhere.
-The ships still don't do anything. They should do SOMETHING, I mean, come on.
    - Three players is still a weird party size. This rule of three thing they have is a bit much.
    - The NPCs at the tower are much more spread out then they were in the first game. You waste a lot of time running around.
    - The Prometheus Lens. Good lord, what were they thinking? If you don't know what I'm talking about, It was a horrendously overpowered laser weapon made available by Xur the first weekend after Curse of Osiris released. that made it so that if you weren't using it, you were guaranteed to lose crucible matches. And even if you WERE, you'd probably still lose, because almost everyone else was using one. It was then nerfed to the point where no one used it anymore.
    - Shaders are now single-use consumables. What?
    - Shadowshot is still next to useless.

This game is a huge step back from the first one. The only thing that has improved is more cut scenes, but they offset this by literally destroying the established lore, and its pretty clear they have no clue where they want to take the game. 2.It is a game with microtransactions in the form of "loot boxes", randomized reward crates that you can buy for real money designed to prey upon people with addictive personalities.
3.And finally, it is a game that removed content that anyone who bought the game already paid for and now it forces players to pay up again if they want to access it.

Even if you think the game is good, and that's fine if you do, I hope you can agree that we, as a community, should not tolerate the exploitative practices being pushed by Destiny 2.

Boring shooter. You can't even imagine HOW BAD single player(or coop) company is. Lots of grid without any point.

I normally don't post game reviews, but seeing all the 0 or 10 reviews I'm hoping that people can see what I feel is an honest review. I played Destiny 1 from the very beginning all the way to the end and picked up Destiny 2 for PC on release. I also play Warframe and consider Warframe and Destiny to be completely different games; it’s like comparing Devil May Cry to Call of Duty.

I also play Warframe and consider Warframe and Destiny to be completely different games; it’s like comparing Devil May Cry to Call of Duty.

    Pros
-Visually a beautiful game. I often find myself just stopping and admiring the scenery.
-The gunplay feels really good. I love first person shooters and everything about shooting feels really well done to me. Yes, it is very upsetting for my rocket to barely miss the enemy because he lifted his arm up, but great that it’s not just one big hitbox where the enemy is.
-It’s fairly easy to progress. There aren’t any random modifiers on items; if you and a friend both find the same gun they will be the same gun. No hoping for the best rolls on a drop; once you’ve got the item, you’ve got the item. Evens the playing field, no more complaining that your teammates doing better with the same weapon because they have better modifiers on theirs.
-For Destiny 1 players: you can fast travel to select locations when doing patrols. Definitely beats running around the whole area just to get to a certain area. I was really happy not having to run around the dreadnaught all day to alternate between Court of Oryx and finding all the calcified fragments.
-Destiny 1 had an upgrade system where you had to “level up” your items and required additional materials to unlock the upgrades such as relic iron and spinmetal. You could find and collect these resources spawned in random nodes on planets, by doing patrol missions, or by turning in a special currency called legendary marks. If you loved having a large variety of items like I did you would be farming a lot just so you could actually use your items to their full potential.
-You can actually get emotes from bright engrams which you get when you level up. In Destiny 1 if you wanted a specific emote your only choice was spending silver, which cost real-life money.

    Cons
-Features from Destiny 1 didn’t make it into Destiny 2(yet). I’ve heard it was because that once Destiny 1 was released the team who made it went straight into development for Destiny 2 and a different team did the rest of the content for Destiny 1. Strike specific loot, choosing the pvp mode, replaying story missions/strikes at will, daily heroic story missions, and secret patrols are all missing from the game at the moment just to name a few. They’ve recently reintroduced heroic strikes again with the first dlc; no scoring, medals, or modifiers though.

-Pretty much no customization for abilities compared to Destiny 1. You get two skill trees for each subclass. Destiny 1 had many nodes you could mix and match with to create a more unique playstyle with for your character which also affected your stats. In Destiny 2, you can only change your stats via your armor.
-No general chat and the ability to receive whispers is disabled by default. Makes it pretty difficult to find groups if you aren’t dedicated to searching for groups.
-You can’t buy specific weapons/armor from vendors besides 1 item during faction rally. You’re at the mercy of RNG for most items in the game now. No more buying hung jury to wreck PVE content.
-The story isn’t very engaging in my opinion. At least it was better than Destiny 1 where the story upon release was just a mess.
Neutral(These can be seen as pros or cons depending on the players)
-Pvp is much more teamplay focused than Destiny 1. The amount of players in a pvp match was also lowered from 12 total to 8 total so it also feels a lot slower to me.
-Shaders are a single use item that you individually apply to gear to change its color. Similar to Chroma from Destiny 1. Some people complained about this system but I love it. I play about 8 hours a week and I have a ton of shaders. Since they can be individually applied I can make myself look like a great neon rainbow of colors. The only shaders I miss from Destiny 1 are Glowhoo and Ascendant Plane.
    Some other notes
-Destiny 1 had the same amount of strikes on release as Destiny 2. It really sucks that you can’t choose to play individual ones and play through them at random; but it is the same amount as Destiny 1 on release.
-To me, the game is the most fun when you play with your friends. I enjoy challenging myself and soloing the nightfall and the raid entrance; but I really have the most fun doing patrols, strikes, and pvp with my buddies. There’s not a whole lot for solo players in my opinion but that is kind of blanket statement; I think most games can be fun when you have friends to play with.

    Too long; didn’t read
-Destiny 2 is more casual friendly than Destiny 1. No grinding for hours a day every day.
    -Gunplay and visuals are great.
-Not a lot of content for more dedicated players.

    Pro: Smooth, crisp, satisfying play.
Cons: Artificial advancement system where a power level 50 and power level 300 deal the same damage to the same enemy when they're standing next to each other. Also, negligible endgame content.

Worst of all, they removed content from the original game and put it behind a DLC paywall!

When i first bought this game, I accepted that $60 would buy me half of a completed game, with the rest being locked behind expansion paywall. That's just how this BS gaming industry is now. Now that expansion 1 is out, I feel like I got about $5 of extra content, when I essentially paid for $15 since expansion bundle added $30 for 2 expansions. This kind of makes sense because this expansions was released two months after initial release on PC.

Let me repeat that: Activision and Bungie released a $15 EXPANSION 2 to 3 months after release of base game.

Okay, the DLC is short and doesn't add much. Let's accept that. Oops, half of the vanilla $60-half game is now locked behind DLC paywall. Good.

People who were fortunate enough to not fall into the season pass trap now cannot access prestige-level content that they once had access to. They are honestly the true winners here since they now have a very valid excuse to finally drop this sad excuse of a AAA title.

Other things that make this game suck.
    No chat outside of fireteam/squad.
No true ranked PVP (although they said they will prioritize this in 2018).
    No in-game stats.
Shader system built around microtransactions. (Shaders are consumable PER ARMOR PIECE). Want to buy specific shaders? You need to wait for it to be on rotation as well as use special currency that you get from loot boxes.
Boring endgame, nothing to look forward to since everything is so easy to get.
    Raid is boring and pointless.
    Leveling feels so dumbed-down.
Story is written for children. It's so cheesy and generic, the dialogue had me cringe a couple of times.
    Token system is no fun.
Long TTK in Crucible is to promote sticking with team, i get it. But team-shooting is the only way to win and it makes PVP so predictable and boring. No longer do we see exciting 1v3+ clutches. Crucible is basically follow your team or you'll die. There's not even teamwork since there is no tactic involved. it's just 4 people grouping up and catching enemy lone wolves.

I give this score 1 point for the amazing graphics and soundtrack. I would give it 2 points but good visuals and audio are basically nothing if the game is not fun and is a scam.

Please Bungie, i fell in love with Destiny 1 three years ago on PS4. I told all my friends to get this game, and you really let all your fans down. It took me 2 months to finally admit that this game is a disaster. Thank you for scamming us all.

I also want to give Bungie two big thumbs up for having the balls to deliver such a beautiful scam to contend for the epitome of the pinnacle of the mother of all scams: EA's prized jewel in which i don't want to name.

Almost none of the tons of weapons I use seem to stand out. The class progressions are also too short for me.

Also, they quietly put exp cap to milk players' money via lootboxes. Very sneaky. Glad

Beautiful to look at and the guns and specials feel great to use. Those are the only things I can say positively about this game, beyond that it is a hollow shell of a game that is focused on players buying bright engrams (Their version of loot boxes). This game is not worth your money or your time.

Returning players know how poor of an effort developer bungie put into this game, tons of features are missing from the core game that were in the original. One of these missing features is heroic strikes, harder missions that are meant to challenge the player in the endgame grind we all loved in the original. They are now selling this as a new feature in the DLC Curse of Osiris (another horrible effort), this DLC was planned for three months after initial release, about a month after the PC release. When destiny releases DLC they lock all of the good features from the core game behind a paywall making the core game almost unplayable.

They have a ton of recycled content in this game such as the famed exotics, don't get me wrong I appreciate classics being brought back but as the best features of the core game is just lazy. The most important gun in PvP is the MIDA multi tool for instance, without it you don't really stand much of a chance in PvP. They told us our vaults and all the old equipment was destroyed and now the new meta is a gun we all had in our vaults... that is so disappointing in a sequel.

When playing the other content such as the raid and public events it just feels like a boring grind, the enemies are too easy, its like they just stand there and wait for you to kill them. Wave after wave you grind the exact same mechanics from the original game and it all for nothing, maybe a token or two. Turn those in and the odds of you getting the same thing you already have are very high. You rarely get anything cosmetic that is very good because that is all locked behind the bright engram system.

The bright engrams are what rattle most of the community to its core, they are blatantly rigging the system to get you to buy them (don't believe me? well, they admitted it). Once you hit level 20 every time you level up you get a bright engram instead, this is a very slow grind however. So slow the community complained so bungie introduced a double XP weekend making them easier to obtain but then secretly slowed down progression the more you played. A user on reddit exposed this and sent the community into an uproar, they apologized and "fixed" it but they actually doubled the amount of XP required to level up and where caught again. A lot of the cosmetic gear is again recycled from the first game, this system is disgusting and should not be tolerated from any game. Three pay models, full priced base game, paid DLC that locks out content a couple months after release (another to follow in another couple of months) and engrams that cost real dollars to buy, this is the sad low point the industry was trending towards.

I will give credit where it is due, this game is beautiful, one of, if not the best looking games out there for sure. The guns feel really great to shoot and player movement is really great. It is just not worth it though, the loot systems, gun mods, changes to PvP and absence of quality strikes make it feeling like it is lacking any real quality gameplay.

Destiny 2 is a failure, a failure to build off of what ended up being such a great game and a failure in providing anything significantly new to what should be a proper sequel. It feels like bungie exploited its old fans loyalty and excitement to make a ton of money with the hopes they could grab a new, casual players to make even more off of. Its great to look at but thats probably best done through screen shoots in this case. This game should be a hard pass for anyone thinking of buying it.

    The positive:
    Awesome graphics! Cool weapons!

    The negative:
Horrible story! The writers must have gotten really used 5 mins to create the whole story. Horrible gameplay with endless slaughter of "sheep". After playing 1 hour I was really bored and glad I only had the demo and not bought the full version.

End game is horrible, gearing is horrible. Enemies always scale by your scale so you never feel powerful or never feel the growth. After one month of tedious gameplay you're required to pay more for few more light levels and NO real endgame solution. Skip this garbage game, worst purchase I've ever made in games.

It's a really good game IMO. It has beautiful graphics, story line is not too long, nor the short. The quality of the game is very good as well (no irritating bugs). I can see how some people may find it lacking content but when I play it for around 15hrs a week I find it very good.

The game pulls you in and you feel like you have to at least complete it in hopes of some big payoff.. but it doesn't exist.

Much like real life, the journey is the real reward - but in Destiny 2, the journey is boring as hell, and literally as interesting as vacuuming.

Yes the game is grindy after completion and yes the itemization and overall customization is a little sub par, but Destiny 2 looks incredible, runs completely smooth, and is continuing to offer a fun multiplayer/co-op experience with BattleNet friends. The music is enjoyable as well and matches up with the several different planets available to explore, which as stated are unique and very pleasing on the eyes. Combat is somewhat tedious at times but is very fluid, and although weapon variety is somewhat lacking the guns available are likable and fun to use. The story is not strong, rather mediocre, but with the continuation in DLC and the main focus not being the story I still think there is potential here because the world is mostly lively and fun to travel about. Overall I personally enjoy Destiny 2 but even though I was surprised at the negativity, after reading many user reviews I somewhat agree about the complaints in price and continued cost of soon to be released DLC, it would have been better if all the content was released at once. The gameplay is very arcadey and involves fighting off hordes on a regular basis. There's a number of various baddies, but the gameplay is incredibly easy throughout the game. You could pretty much watch a youtube video of gameplay to find out whether or not you'd like the game, because if the gameplay doesn't look fun to you, then you won't like it. For me though, it's because of the constant hordes of enemies that I'm able to enjoy it, because it keeps me engaged. But it certainly won't be everyone's fancy.

The baddies have weak points, (mostly headshots), to give you the extra gratification of landing your shots. And when they die they tend to explode in a manner that's similar to the grunt birthday headshots. There are some bullet sponge bosses, which I generally find boring to fight, so I tend to avoid them when I can since they're mostly tied in to public events you can do simply to level up and get loot.

The graphics are for the most part, pretty damn good. They're certainly not hyper realistic by any stretch, but they're generally gorgeous to look at. On a 1070, I'm able to play the game at max settings at 1080p with over 100 FPS on a mere I7 2700. So I consider the game extremely well optimized. I rarely ever encounter significant frame drops.

As far as weapons go, there are a ton of them. And I've really been loving that. It keeps the game interesting by having different means to eliminate your creeps. I find they all look pretty cool and most of them sound pretty satisfying. Balance seems to be all over the place though and can be tough to gauge in the campaign since you can get drops that yield some pretty significant differences in DPS values. The higher level weapons can also have special perks which sometimes provide significant bonuses to a weapon. You can also collect and wield special weapons like rocket/grenade launchers, sniper rifles, swords and shotguns, though you need special ammo to use them that only drops on occasion.

The main campaign and story is the main source of disappointment for me. The story, in my opinion, is just really, really lame. You play as a guardian who due to space magic known as 'The Light', is capable of coming back to life after every death. This is a major frustration for me, because it cheapens the plot and dialogue. Whenever people start talking about any sort of risk or uncertainty all I can think is, "I'm **** immortal. It doesn't matter. The job's gonna get done one way or another." It's basically having 24/7 god mode. I don't have any issue with it as a gameplay element, it's just that as a plot device it completely nullifies any sense of vulnerability or danger. And naturally there's a villain who's trying to capture the light for himself so he can be an unstoppable, immortal tyrant over the galaxy. Cuzz, duh. That's what cookie cutter bad guys do.

As far as the levels and actual missions go, it's a format somewhat similar to mass effect in that you can go to different worlds, (there's only 5), that you can travel around freely in, which are filled with various adventures and a campaign mission on each of them. The world's certainly aren't massive, but they're a decent size. They're designed in a way that makes the combat mostly close to mid range.

There's a varying number of players you'll find in a level that you can interact with. They're locked out of campaign missions and certain quest parts, but you can do public events with them. I find it pretty cool, but with even a few other players the public events are absurdly easy mode, especially with the unlimited, low cooldown respawns.

The multiplayer is where the real replayability is at. It's essentially Halo PC with a bunch of extra features. You can bring guns you've collected from the campaign into multiplayer with you, but they don't come with the DPS stats, so everyone's weapon is the same in that regard. However, you do get to take advantage of whatever special perks you weapon has. Some weapons are much stronger than others, so you do run into disadvantages if you don't play as much or get lucky drops on certain guns. For the most part though, different guns come with different strengths and weaknesses.

You can also use you special weapons, but you require special ammo that spawns at opposite ends of the map with a timer. People mainly use rocket launchers, which are essentially 2 free kills. If the enemy gets both power weapon spawns, it's often very frustrating. Supers, which usually unlock only once per match, are jacked abilities that can net several kills in one go. When the enemy gets 4 in a row, before you can be death locked by chained insta kill combos.

I'd personally prefer the game much more if it had a mode without power ammo or supers, as I believe they cheapen the skill/competitive component by granting free, easy mode kills in quick, chained succession.

this game is bad. reviewers compare it to vanilla D1 which makes absolutely no sense. the developers clearly haven't learned anything in the past 3 years, and that is depressing. The story is atrocious. just because it is "better" than destiny 1 doesn't make it good. that's like saying since shark tale for the pc has a better story than sonic 06, its the best game ever made. The coldheart pre order bonus is cool, but you don't actually have to pre order the game to get it. as long as you get any of the "editions" you'll get the gun at the end of the game. speaking of the endgame, there is none. there are three different things to do after the disappointingly short campaign: the raid, the weekly nightfall, and trials. All of these things require you have multiple friends who play the game and haven't stopped already because of how boring it is. the raid takes up a ton of time and trials is extremely frustrating if you don't have the same load out as everyone else in pvp. Literally the only thing I like about this game is the music. It's so **** good if the actual game wasn't even included and it was just the soundtrack I would give it a 10/10. so get your **** together sonic team, and go back to making knack HD.

I love co op games, Borderlands, the Division etc. Recently being destroyed by focus on PVP etc. Dest. 2 has limited PVP but luckily for me is more akin to borderlands meets an mmo. I love it! I bit like division but first person/scifi/fantasy/post apocalyptic.

I use discord and other things and have not been banned, that's BS. Devs even admit it, there just blocked from working in

Also, the low reviews just seem like salty gamers wanting things perfect in their own terms. If you want a game warranted of these zeros, see the new SW Battlefront. I dig destiny 2, a lot.

DO NOT BUY! The game is cut in half! Main story extremely short!

I was one of the naive ppl who believed all the reviews telling games this is a polished Destiny. Well everybody forgot to mention they cut this game into little pieces and now they are reselling the rest of the game via DLCs!!!! This is a BS!!! I can't believe I paid almost £45 for 1/3 of a game. Any more words would be

I honestly expected much more grinding and time spent in this game, but after a week I've hit a wall where the only way to level is to do raids/strikes or grind public events and the game has lost basically all appeal. It doesn't feel like a grind, just a boring repetitive schedule.

However, I will give this a 5 because the gunplay itself is so solid and I did actually enjoy the raid/strike moments of the game but being able to crush a weeks achievements in a day just doesn't work for me - I'd rather have a huge task that I will struggle to complete than something simple I can knock over in a day. Like everyone else has said, feels a lot like more of the same ol' Destiny, can't see myself bothering with expansions.

I played hundreds of hours in Destiny 1. In many ways Destiny 1 is still a much better game.

There is no endgame beside the raid which I played through once, but none of the loot feels unique there's no incentive to do it again unless you just like the cosmetic look of the gear to collect.

The PVP or Crucible game modes are terrible. Your lvl doesn't matter and there are only 2 playlists. There is no ranked matchmaking you cant see any of your stats its just mindless shooting. The servers are awful (They hide this fact by not even showing anyone's connection quality) and because the way the weapons/game are balanced you will just run into the same team fights over and over again. The only "fun" I had was playing Trails of the Nine where you try to win 7 matches in a row to get access to a secret social space and better gear, because it felt competitive and you were actually working towards some goal.

Conclusion I spent $90 on this game plus the 2 future DLC's coming out. I love Bungie I played all of the Halo games since I was a little kid and I loved all of them, but I honestly feel scammed buying this game. Maybe my expectations were very high but I felt like I would get a year of content and enjoyment out of this game. Instead they made a washed down casual version of Destiny that isn't really interesting or innovative. 3 points just because the environments and the graphics are good and the game is well optimized.

So after leveling two characters till very end of game (raid phase) I can say that this game is average as it can be. I mean, it can be fun, it can be tricky and frustrating, but all this end with big boredom after you finish all activates available for single player . What else can you do if there is no social mechanism in MMO game?!

Game is too expensive for what i offers. 50 pounds for base game and 30 for DLC? Just to get 20 hours of gameplay out of them? I don't have the time to get into clans and do the raid with them, and there is no matchmaking either so there is no endgame for me at this point. Regret making my purchase.

Destiny 2 is a game with a weak single player experience, weak main story, underwhelming gunplay, but entertaining cooperative and PvP content. Unfortunately, that good stuff comes all at the end game and you'll have to dredge through the 5-7 hour story to get there.

Destiny 2 is a game with a weak single player experience, weak main story, underwhelming gunplay, but entertaining cooperative and PvP content. Unfortunately, that good stuff comes all at the end game and you'll have to dredge through the 5-7 hour story to get there.

Destiny 2 plays like a cross between Borderlands and Halo. It's a story driven shooter with repetitive level design, samey reskin enemies, and randomized loot. As you progress through the game, you'll travel freely between different planets in the solar system. Each location has an open world area with public events and side quests. When you start a story mission in these areas, it's instanced. When you reach level 20 (max level), you'll return to these same areas to complete daily and weekly activities and challenges for randomize loot rewards. This can all be done cooperatively or solo and none of it presents any real challenge to a seasoned FPS player.

Player movement and enemy animations/behavior is very similar to Halo. Jumps are long and floaty as if there's low gravity. What's disappointing is character movement doesn't factor into class abilities or combat with one or two rare exceptions. It's simply there to serve as a way to navigate weak platforming sections. Enemies will sometimes juke to the side or drop a shield, but this doesn't increase their threat to the player. It only serves as an annoyance to increase the time it takes to kill them. Most enemies seem to fire the same slow moving energy projectile weapons. While enemy factions are thematically different in appearance, it quickly becomes clear they are just different models for the same type of enemy with similar abilities. Weapons variety seems weak. There's a sufficient variety of weapon types, but not a lot of options within those categories. Many weapons simply feel like reskins of weapons in the same category with no sufficiently differentiating characteristics.

The story is incredibly weak and predictable. Having not played the original Destiny, I had no grounding for who the main characters were or why I should care. The writing for character dialogue vacillates between self-important melodramatic posturing and hipster tier cringe (I'm looking at you Cayde-6). All I could gather from the story is that Guardians are religious zealots who worship a giant sphere which has visited earth and granted some people magical powers and immortality. In short, the Cabal did nothing wrong.

End game content and PvP are pretty fun. Strikes are Destiny's version of raids where you and other players go through much more challenging levels and boss fights to get better loot rewards. Revisiting some of the open world story mission areas to do side quests is sometimes entertaining, too. Doing these gives you tokens you give to a local story character for, you guessed it, loot rewards.

Destiny 2 is not worth full price especially considering there are going to be at least two paid DLC expansions. If all you want is a good coop game with your friends, Destiny 2 isn't a bad choice, but it may not have long term value for you. Don't buy it for the story.

put this one right in the middle for "meh" status. I was a big fan of Destiny 1 and couldn't wait to see what kind of innovation they would create in Destiny 2. It turns out, almost none. after beat the game, if you dont have 4 friends same time for raid, you cant play this game. I mean theres no reason. Nonsense, fix this end game content. Focus single player rewards or add party finder for raid.

While Destiny 2 has a solid foundation and a robust story campaign, its endgame content feels a little lacklustre. The sandbox doesn't have a whole lot of depth, and plumbing each of the hub worlds for secrets doesn't feel that rewarding. Grinding Public Events, Raids, and Strikes with friends is definitely a lot of fun, but there's a huge disconnect between content being cleared and your character strength increasing. There's still a lot of room for Destiny 2 to grow but, for now, it's still got a few kinks to work out.

In a nutshell, Destiny 2 for PC is the same outstanding game we played on consoles, but even more enjoyable thanks to spectacular visuals, masterful optimization and much more suitable controls. [13/2017, p.75]

Play this great shooter with your friends, it pays off. Then it will offer hours and hours of great fun without the stereotype. But be prepared the endgame will thoroughly test your patience and willingness to grind. [Issue#280]
