After spending 70 hours, i realized that destiny is just a fancy package over bitter candy. Game is pretty, guns feels good, so does combat and balance of sub classes. However all that is being greatly overshadowed by the negatives.

    1. Game has no social system. there is no LFG tool, there is no search for clan tool, voice chat is bugged for half people. regular chat work in such a bad manner that people never use it, or even see messages. Like you sit in your main lobby, asking questions in general chat, but than it's just you, no one sees it, because chat is always hidden.

    2. End game content here is PVP (which is alright) and raids and dungeons (which are pretty much raids for small groups). These raids and dungeons are pure mini games, like jumping puzzles, riddle solving and etc. They have no noob difficulty where you would go into a guided raid, learn mechanics and etc. Nope, none of that, if you suck at solving riddles or jump puzzles, that's it. Lower difficulty only means mobs have less hp and less modefiers, but why would you care for it if you still cant complete the mini game in time.

    3. PvP, mean while it would be fun, but they removed match maker, so now there ton of skilled PVPers griefing on people who dont play pvp, or play a little just for fun. So yeah, go ahead and have your butt kicked.

    4. Game is not region locked, meaning that at about midnight, you will meet mostly Asian players, Asain clans, like from Korea, where gaming is a job. God forbid you want to do some pvp.

    5. Game has WoW style gear thread mill, meaning that you grind out your item level to the cap available in current season, when season ends, all that gear goes to hell and you have to regrind it over.

    6. campaigns are bad, specifically they have barely any narrative, or what you would call a good story. basically, you run up to campaign NPC, he than talk to you (havent seen mouth move or any thing, just voice). Than you accept the quest (campaign) and watch 15-30 seconds cinematic, after that you go grind outposts or kill juggernauts for 30 minutes, come back, hand in quest, rinse and repeat. This is literally boring.

    7. Game has no viable navigation. after tutorial you're swarmed with bunch of quests and bounties (literally another version of quests, just different name). from that point on you dont know what to do. game doesnt tells you where to go, how to advance, what is important in the game (yes important because old content's loot almost entirely obsolete) and etc.

    8. lastly, there are ton of bugs which still sprout out of no where, thats in a 2 year old game, like genral bugs, like calling character menu with bind wont work, quests glitching (wont let you complete) and many others.

    9. ah one more thing. like in every game there is meta, which is fine. but guns that dont make it into the meta, are obsolete, to the point that teams wont take you into the raid if you dont have specific guns. Needless to say, in pvp people with "right" guns will always kick your ass, simply because their time to kill is way better than yours.

I feel bad as i already spend money on pass and 2 DLCs which ended up being trash, i cant get a refund as i played too long and i've only played for 2 weeks. I'll finish this season just to get my money worth and will part with the game.

I have gone over the reviews in here and all I could see were critics done with the knowledge of one moment of the game. So, I take it upon myself as a veteran player to really explain what Destiny 2 is.

Destiny 2 is an MMO RPG Looter Shooter game, with an open world filled with different loot and challenges to chase. It is a very grindy game. You WILL have to play ALL of the game to get ALL of the loot. You CAN'T only play in team, and you CAN'T only solo the game.

With that out of the way, here comes MY opinion.
Firstly, it is necessary to undersand that D2 works in a cycle. All Septembers, we get a great expansion that puts the game in an amazing spot. Then follows an average season, then a poor season, then a great season. You can choose if you play this seasons or just wait for the expansion.
I think this format of giving content, while it is quite annoying, is necesary, as Bungie is working all alone in such a gigantic game, with so many overlapping pieces that makes it extremely difficult to work with.
Secondly, the classes, subclasses, etc. I think the idea behind the powers are original, but I still miss the old customization settings from D1.
Gunplay: I have never played any game in which the guns feel better than in D2. All weapons are amazing and unique. Exotics are the best, of course.
PvE content: If you're actually playing it and not speedrunning it to get to the raids (as many players I've met do) the game is rich in complex lore, mysterious character, beautiful landscapes, complex mechanics, and so on.
PvP content: PvP is, by far, Destiny's worst aspect, as players tend to stick tremendously to the META or hack to win. Nevertheless, it is undeniably a fun experience. In PvP, you have to learn how players respond, how you respond to players, how guns work, how abilities work, and so on.
Loot: If anyone tells you there is no loot to chase in D2, tell them to start playing seriously. D2 is filled to the brim with loot of different kinds, sources, rarities, difficulties, importance, etc.

In conclusion: I believe Destiny is an extremely under-rated game by the players who expect to have everything served to them in a silver plate. Destiny is no easy game, you have to play to win. And if you find yourself unhappy with the current state, i suggest you either take a break or play it anyway, because, in the end, content is content.

-Pure grind, seems people were leveling too much and too fast, so they made it into a chore like grind fest.
-Lack of story, just 2 minutes clips of nothing
-Any story in the game is filler until the main villains arrive (seriously don't get to see the main bad guy until years later in Destiny 2)
    -Cheap gimmicky events
-Majority of the game's loot is behind a microtransaction store
-The majority of the loot that can be acquired in the game pretty much has no worth.

This game has the potential and definintly all the elements to be a top notch game but that's far from what it acrualy is. The game just gets boring after just 10 hours or so. It is very repetitive and the plot is certainly very shallow. Would definintly not recommend.

Your a lost cause and a loser company. If you want to play this game prepare to play their way, based on what weapons are broken and classes at the moment. If you go warlock you are supremely phucked. Do not waste your time. This company doesn't know match making, game balance in any way and does nothing but patronize you when you complain. This game is nothing but Asian hackers and guardian services paid carry/players. Right now you can already order flawless runs on every website in the world and all are testing their autoaim and cheat bots in pvp play. GARBAGE game. I have devoted the remainder of my gaming days to killing this damn game and company any way I can. IT IS THAT HORRIBLE. Oh yeah get ready to have people hacking your PC since they cant even setup their own servers and everything is 1990 peer2peer connections. I have my internet disables 10-15x a day from DDOS attacks from this game. Anyyone rating this above a 2 is a 12 year old who goes from free game to free game or hackers with website carry services. There is ABSOLUTELY 0 reason to play this. Pursue X weapon that is useless garbage or broken and once done with those you stand there because there is no other content to this game. Bunkie manipulates XP, loot drops, even hit registry in PVP so 1 game your good and another 9 shots do not register over and over and over. You will never have fair matches. Average is 50+ point gap between teams. If a blue moon does appear and its a good game don't worry because Bunjie will immediately at the end throw all players into a pile and start over with the imbalanced teams. My 9 year old could devise a better system then this archaic, ancient garbage system they use. Fun part is when they whine about "its so much work for us to do". They cry to us at least every 45-60 days about how we are so mean and need to understand how much work they are doing making the next garbage expac that doesn't fix any issue whatsoever. Expand

For instance the Main Quest, something you'd expect to be some sort of epic story, is "Complete activities… to acquire gear and raise your level." I looked at all the planets and didn't see the word "strikes". I got bored and left. Because of this aimlessness you won't feel invested. If you do take a break, even for Christmas or a family holiday, when you come back chances are your character will look like crap because the armors and characters are so ugly so there won't even be that to give you some sense of investment. You'll find characters with guns and so many missions each that there'll be no focus to carry you forward, which was why I stopped playing for a while in the first place, but absence doesn't make the heart fonder, it just makes it worse. I wish I'd never wasted my time with it. Uninstalling. Expand

If I was a new player I would not get any idea what's happening in this mess of a game world, which is now just a bunch of simplistic activities with no soul.
Class progression was removed for some reason... New power level system is a slap to all veterans who grinded tens of hours...
The only positive moment - it's is free on Steam...

After Warframe, this game can neither hook me nor interest me. Graphics may be a bit better, but it’s not the main thing. Feelings of battle and shooting seem constrained. Great decision for Bungie to leave Activision. It's now free on Steam so trying it without spending a dime is not an issue. Great shooting mechanics, but that was expected from Bungie. It is an 8 out of 10 game right now but I will give it 10 to offset 0 rating trolls...

GG. One of the few games my friends can all agree on. Combining multiple genres, you can shoot, you can loot, and there is a healthy dose of theory-crafting. Lots of hidden guns, achievements, and fun to be had.

As long as you're into PVE, it's a good game. If you like PVP, be prepared for a bunch of sweaty, tryhard virgins who haven't seen sunlight in months as they kill you with The Recluse, teabag you, then insult your mother.

The only problem with PVE is anytime a great weapon comes along, Bungie nerfs it. Other than that, PVE is very fun.

So, when Destiny 2 came out I know it was time to get back into it.
I will try to list all the pros and cons I've experienced over the years in this game. Bear in mind I have logged well over 900 hrs into D2 according to wastedondestiny (Ironically I don't consider these hours wasted).
    Pros:
-The game is gorgeous and runs well even with old i7 and dated 1070 @1440p 144 hz monitor. Optimized well.
-Thorough graphics adjustments and field of view sliders
-deep and intense lore and world-building if you're into that
-There is SO MUCH TO DO in this game, it can almost be a considered a con for newcomers
-Seasonal content keeps things fresh, while not happening so often that you feel guilty for taking a break (to check out other games)
-Year 3 and Shadowkeep is on the horizon and looks better than ever
-PC has in-game chat and clan / guild system. MMO-feeling
-Plethora of PvE activities to fill all your alien-headshotting needs (and explosions, grenades, space magic)
-Solid gearing system with transmogs on the horizon in shadowkeep (for the fashion endgame)
-Clean and mostly easy to use menus.
-The music and atmosphere is amazing
-The movement and shooting systems are TOP NOTCH. Easily the snappiest 1st person shooter I've played. It just feels right.

    The cons:
-The story is OKish at best, and at times very boring and cliche.
-Loadtimes can be brutally long, even on SSD
-As mentioned earlier, there can almost be too much to do. You can feel overwhelmed at first. As I understand, this will be streamlined a bit in shadowkeep.
-The game can be very random at times concerning weapon and armor drops. You might get the item you want, but it has the wrong stats. This can be frustrating when there are few direct paths to the item you really want. Some people however might consider this a pro.
-Mistmatch between community wants and Developer goals. This happens in all live service games eventually and is not exclusive to Destiny.
-There is an ingame real life cash shop. It is purely cosmetic. However I do understand that some people are put off by "the coolest things" being behind a paywall. This is however very subjective.
-The game has for the most part been balanced for both PvE and PvP in paralell. This means that things might get nerfed for PvE when they were only a problem in PvP (and vice versa).
-PvP has been rather shallow for the last year. There are special events every now and then, but it feels rather stale after a while. If you're mostly into PvP I would not bother at this point.

Finally, I would like to say that this game has been a great comfort to me over the last few years. Sure, it has it's bad sides. Yeah I was tired of it during curse of Osiris. But I always returned. It always served as a nice escape from everyday stress. I could always log on and shoot some badguys and get some sweet loot. Or I could be more of a sweat and team up with other guardians through bungie's looking for group website and do the harder dungeons and raids. It's all there for you if you want.
I have recommended this game to all of my friends who are into looter shooters, rpg's and spacey sci fi stuff. All of them have liked it, but at times the content drought can get too much, or the main campaign is too long and you just wanna play with your friends. Hopefully this will get fixed in shadowkeep and "new light" when the base destiny 2 goes free to play.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in the game.

PS. I would like to add: if you asked me for a review of Destiny 2, 2 years ago I would probably have rated it a bit lower - maybe a 6 or 7. It has steadily climbed over the last year.
Conversely, I would say that anyone that votes this game lower than a 5 at this point is basing their review on old facts and an old state of the game that is no longer representable.

The reviews on the user section are not the best representation for this game. They are based on old reviews (when the game first came out) and before it became what it is today, which is a fantastic game. Bungie really upped their game and made this game a whole lot better. Don't use the user score of 3.8 to determine its quality now as it has dramatically improved.

Game aesthetically looks nice but is held back by MMO BS, if Bungie created a game that wasn't based on leveling or crappy MMO mechanics they would do great. Play this with friends PVE but don't expect much out of the PVP, Trust me. Lots of Gameplay and extra content hidden behind their expansion pass.

You get 0 matchaming, pvp mode that is gear dependent in game where there is 0 gear or class balance. You have classes that can sprint and survive 5 headshots and 1 shot melee you, you get one class ult hitting a another in melee for 4 times and still dying 1 shot explosions, you get granade-launcher spawn everywhere.

It does not necessarily suck, but in no universe could this ever be considered fun. After (for some stupid reason) putting 150+ hours into this game, I have not once played a single match of pvp without feeling the urge to pull all my hair out. The meta is so strongly defined by equipment that either comes extreme endgame or hours and hours of grinding a single mission since the drop rates are so obscure. To put it simply, until you obtain these game-breaking items, there is no way you are ever going to have a good time in pvp. Out of hundreds of weapons and armor pieces to choose from, you are guarenteed to see maybe 3 different ones in play in pvp and even pve. It's unbelievable, and the developers sure take their sweet time between patches, leaving players with a mediocre experience for months at a time. It is a huge problem when players have been asking for changes and complete reworks to many of the games essential elements such as the ammo economy and supers. Supers are completely overpowered in both pve and pvp. They go from granting your entire fireteam invincibility for a long period of time or completely eliminating the need to reload. In pvp supers are going off constantly, and if you don't have a super to counter one on the enemy team, you are completely hopeless and will sometimes be killed more than once by the same guy in the same super. I can safely say avoid pvp at all costs. Unless you enjoy having a miserable grinding experience with terrible story progression for a price that this studio has some serious audacity asking for, I strongly advise avoiding this game and all its expansions until you find one hell of a discount. It is a good shooter, but its a bad service. It is positioned as a game for hundreds of hours, but it doesn't have so much content to actually fill those hours. After completing the story, the side missions, probably some lost sectors, trying out PvP, playing though every raid (maybe even a couple of times)... there is pretty much nothing to do. Running around the open environments randomly killing enemies doesn't count, simply because it is too boring for such a shooter. And all the things listed are generally completed within around 30-40 hours. Buying the expansions can prolong that by another 20-30 hours (that is inaccurate). However, that is not enough to get fun for hundreds of hours.
Another issue is plot. And here i'm talking about both the main story, and stories for side missions. You can forget about the latter - it's simple "the enemy is doing something bad there, go there and kill everyone". The main plot can be rated 5/10.
All in all, it is a decent science-fiction Doom. Nothing more.

If taken as a whole, there is very little technically wrong with D2. So why does it tank in reviews? 2 main reasons really(IMHO):
    1, its competent but bland.
2, Bungie have alienated the D2 fan-base with some pretty shady practices. Maybe this was due to it's former partnership with activision, as appears to be the case. Firstly, let me just say I'm not going to needlessly drag a game

Firstly, let me just say I'm not going to needlessly drag a game because I personally feel let down by it. Game play is fluid and reliable. It is a vast sandbox with plenty to see and do, for the newer player - and there in lies one of the problem. It is a big, glitzy and glamorous experience, as any AAA game on the market. However, whilst doing everything well, there is little that jumps out and "wows" you.

One area that flops entirely is: Comms. You would think that a game that requires you to team up with other players for 70% of the content, would have some well thought out communication system? Well no. Bungie has opted for an extremely ill thought out, or more likely a safe, approach. To avoid the possibility of anyone saying anything that might upset anyone - they've gagged everyone. Want to team up? Good luck doing that in the anti-social "social hubs". You will need to do any comms through a third party app like discord. And this is a massive deterrent for the newer player. All of this content, and they're locked out of it. If by some chance you do find and active clan, more often than not, they will already be established and direct noobs to one of the discord LFGs(looking for group), because they won't be able to inflict damage in raids etc, until above a certain light level. Putting usable communications alone would have done wonders for the game.

Bad faith season passes and content drops: really gets my blood boiling. I am older and have the disposable income to buy a game or two, when I want unwind with friends. But, when some kids has saved up for D2, only to find themselves having to shell out more, every few months. Because the game has adopted a "games as a service" model. Isn't exactly fair to them. They don't pay? They get locked out of new content, and cannot progress to the levels those who paid do. And several months down the line, when Bungie release content that they do want and can afford? Well... they have to buy the other junk content first. This is what I mean by shady practices. I'm not going to get into the Eververse fiasco. No, D2 screwed it's player base 3 months after launch with the "curse of Osiris" release, and saw the numbers tank. It was garbage, that very few liked, on a lonely desolate tiny map with no redeeming features. Since then there have been some great content releases, but the damage was done.

Since the "curse of Osiris" fumble, most content releases have been tepid at best; mainly centering around cheap PvP maps. Bungie still haven't got the message about D2 PvP. Many other free to play games do PvP much better. They have also become a victim of their own massaged figures. Those that play D2 for PvP and or Gambit modes, are a tiny percentage of players, and youtubers/streamers, showcasing their skills. Most players(and all solo players) don't care for going into a PvP map to get fragged by a team, or pro team, sitting "team shooting" them from across the map - and only play these modes because they are forced to complete their weekly milestones. Yet, Bungie, seeing the player count on PvP, think that this is a popular mode. IT IS NOT BUNGIE. It's an awful "click fest" on a cramped map, that you have told them they need several hundred kills on, for a quest step. But, because they are solo queuing, and getting team shot, takes them forever. Bugie then takes these "forced attendance" figures, and thinks, "they must really like PvP, we'll give them more". They don't! They're hostages lol. Making death match levels for doom and quake(years ago) was something we did over night to play with mates the next day. The assets already exist, you just plug them together, test it, and bingo - free content. We didn't take 3 months and charge each other £20 for it. It's lazy, and an insult to paying customers. Remove the need to play PvP for these quests, and you will see the real numbers.

Most of the players today are wanting to explore the world, find new stuff, Lore, and love the story. They can clearly spot when a character from the lore has been shoe-horned in as an excuse to provide a low effort, cheap, recyclable content to charge extra for. You ask them to solve some amazingly difficult, and well thought out puzzles in raids etc(that Destiny does better than anywhere else), but think they can't see this? I hemorrhages players, and is exploitative to the younger player. Don't rob kids for heaven's sake. Then have the cheek to harp on about equality, diversity, and inclusion. You cheapen those meaningful terms for profit.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like the game, the campaign is fine, PVP is fine but what really makes me like the game is the soundtracks and how they use them in the game and they are epic soundtracks but only when used correctly basically if Bungie put a soundtrack at a random time where its dull and nothings happening its useless but when you put the right soundtrack at the right time you feel excited and ready for anything, for example, the mission where you reclaim the subclass that you used at the first mission aka the one where you spawn in front of a place with a lot of fire or "Homecoming" you used (gunslinger for hunter, voidwalker for warlock and striker for titan), so back to the point in that mission a soundtrack called "inner light" plays and I think its a great soundtrack used in the right time but if you used it in orbit it will be useless so that one of the reasons I gave this game an 8 and if I was critic I would give it an 80-85. This game is a total waste of money. Bungie just doesn't care about players. We can always hear from them: "WE'RE GONNA LISTEN, WE'RE GONNA LISTEN", "WE ARE LEARNING A LOT". No. They are ignoring all the feedback from their players, because they think they are right and they treat us like we are stupid.

No. They are ignoring all the feedback from their players, because they think they are right and they treat us like we are stupid.

Balance in this game doesn't exist. Shotguns, jotunn, shoulder charge, spectral blades etc are ruining all the fun in PVP because they are easy to use. Why do snipers have flinch, because they are easy to use? Look at jotunn and machine guns, they are MUCH easier to use and they have almost 0 flinch! WHY? Because Bungie doesn't care about balance in their own game... If you're masochist, crucible is perfect for you, enjoy!

]Updates? Hmmm... One update every 3-4 months? Really Bungie, are you that slow? Btw great job nerfing shotguns in PVP, they are exactly as powerful as they were before, good job. Now we wait another 4 months and they will "nerf" it again! Maybe let's buff the damage and reduce the ammo reserves! Great idea! (no :))

DLC? Annual Pass? You mean just so much long, tedious grind? Oh yea! That's content for Bungie! When we ask for a grind NOBODY WANTS TIDIOUS GRIND. NOBODY. But you - Bungie, always think about us and give us those long, amazing grinds, and you want us to do stuff and play missions that we played a thousand times already, then we have to get some 200 glowing **** by doing 500 strikes or 1000 public events or jump 50000 times inside of patrol, BECAUSE THAT IS FUN, RIGHT? Amazing work Bungie. Good job again. AND thank you for the best DLC "Grind Armory" btw.

Bungie don't care about anything in their game. The forge matchmaking is a joke, sleeper nodes are **** enhancement cores are a cancer, op weapons at crucible.

I can"t belive I paid for this. Its just a big "enjoy the game or f*** you" to all the players.

If you enjoy that game, good for you! I'm happy that someone can enjoy this. But as long as I stand on this world, being a D2 player with more than 500 hours in the game, I advice you to stay as far as possible from this terrible, terrible game, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don"t repeat my mistake, if you'd like to have a good, balanced game that you can enjoy playing, then go and buy something else.

Destiny 2 is a good game, that's a fact. Although the story doesn't bring many new things to the genre, Bungie delivered a good playable campaign. Classes are fun to play and somewhat diverse. The amount of actual PVP Quick play and Competitive players could all fit in a small map. Its pretty small to a point if you wanted to block some players bungie would not let you due to the very limited pool of players.
But if you don't play PVP then the PVE is neat, its kinda dead right now, the season of the drifter doesn't give much to the pure PVE based players since Gambit is the stupidest game mode ever created. **** bring back TRIALSS if you really want to please people. I know a lot of people who took this season off due to lack of anything PVE, and even PVP is lack luster.
Just take my advice, try if if you want, but if i could take back all the time i have spent in this game and played something different i would, in a heart beat.

Game menus and UI are so clunky its borderline unusable. Its just a rushed shell of a game designed to nickel and dime and milk players. Oh forgot there was a story, its terrible and utterly forgettable, some religious cult bs.

Some parts of the game are really, really well done. Good graphics, nice shooting gameplay.

The main problem is the company behind the game. At every step you know that their main concern is money and that they are willing to let the game suffer because of it. They are willing to lie to their players and treat them like **** And then you ask yourself: Is the time I invest in this

Answer: No, it's not. Not even for free.

    Also: Yay, lootboxes!

Activision/Bungie: You are paying for those extra profits with user ratings. I think you will find that in the long run, it's not worth it. Just ask Ubisoft.

the port was amazing with the same solid gunplay as in Destiny 1, but the publisher held this game back far from its full potential. They again should have waited a year before rushing out an unfinished game. The trick to getting your money's worth with Destiny games is to wait a year to buy the full game with all the extra content for $40. They burned their day 1 supporters twice in a row.

    - Poor physics
    - Bugs in the tutorial, so I could not finish it, but it is mandatory -.-

Under no circumstances I would recommend buying this game.
I haven't even played this game thanks to battle.net always killing my download and then it just keeps initialising the download but nothing ever happens. No fix I found is helping and the support seems to doesn't even try to help.

    Good :

    - graphics
    - prologue
    - very dynamic

    Bad :

    - the solo campaign is in fact a MMO : in each area, events keep repeating, enemies keep appearing in order to gain XP and there are other players in the same area you don't interact with ! If I want to play a MMO, I buy a MMO !

While Destiny 2 has a solid foundation and a robust story campaign, its endgame content feels a little lacklustre. The sandbox doesn't have a whole lot of depth, and plumbing each of the hub worlds for secrets doesn't feel that rewarding. Grinding Public Events, Raids, and Strikes with friends is definitely a lot of fun, but there's a huge disconnect between content being cleared and your character strength increasing. There's still a lot of room for Destiny 2 to grow but, for now, it's still got a few kinks to work out.
