    This game has great graphics, sound, and game play. It is an excellently well thought out game with awesome maps. The only to be desired is a more realistic damage system and better hit registery. I have many problems where I will fire about 13 rounds point blank with someone whilst aimed at there chest, but only 1 round will register for about 30 damage.     This game would be a 10 if the player could Lean left and right and scrool the weapons without the need to left click on them. This would make a Huge Difference in the gameplay.

    I play DoD:S all the time. It is a very strategy oriented game while still focusing on the individual skill of the player. There are a few flaws, but I am willing to look past them. To get the full experience from this game you need to search for the right server. Playing with the right people makes all the difference and enhances the gameplay in many ways.

    This game it good, and for peaople who say this game should be more realiticly paced, it would take 5 to 12 days to take a village like the one in kalt. 12 friggin days of sittin on a crappy chair in yer 2 bot 9" moniter (depending opun how awsome you are) By the way, kalt means "cold" in german.

    I recommend this game to WWII game lovers, both newbies and veterans. Pros- 1. It is easy to grasp when you start playing 2. The weapons look and feel good. 3. Playing with friends is great, but using teamwork with complete strangers is just as good. 4. Graphically the game is great, but to play at all high settings you may need a beefy computer. 5. The level design in the default levels I recommend this game to WWII game lovers, both newbies and veterans. Pros- 1. It is easy to grasp when you start playing 2. The weapons look and feel good. 3.     Ok - so I really think it's unfair the DoD:S's rating has been hammered by poor reviews just after it was released. More maps are being released all the time and yet reviews such as "the limitations of only four maps, on which to play one game type" pull the score down. DoD was, is and always will be excelent.

    Best online game I played so far. I love this game more than Counterstrike : source. For the moment there is only one game that still could beat Day of Defeat source; Red Orchestra. Looking forward to play that game.

    WW2 multiplayer action at its best. Fast paced action, awesome source engine, and realistic weapon behavior make this game a real winner. bullets really hurt in this WW2 game. 2 or 3 shots will kill you. not like other games where you can get hit 20 times, live get health packs, and then keep on fighting as if there is no tomorrow. Kudos do Valve, who have done it once again.

    I LOVE IT! Only thing I miss is that the game should have more Nations (Russia, Japan or GB) and that you should can find some granates in boxes on every map.

    I would say its a 7.5 but they dont have it. this game is very intense and i like the blood :) the reasion i gave it a 7(or 7.5) is because WHERE ARE THE IRON SIGHTS!!! I WANA AIM DONT MY SIGHT ON THE THOMPSON AND BAR!!! this gfame would be perfect if u could do that

    I know it's just a game, but everyone has to be getting tired of getting stuck in door jams, bottle tops, weeds, etc. etc. etc... Generally someone went out of their way to make the game as tedious as possible. Tedious is not fun. I think everyone is tired of getting shot through walls, around corners, etc. I never understood why I can be shot from someone that can see me, but I I know it's just a game, but everyone has to be getting tired of getting stuck in door jams, bottle tops, weeds, etc. etc. etc... In CS you can go out by yourself and survive for 4-5 rounds alone. In dod source if you go off by yourself you will die and not get anything acomplished but a high death and low kill score.… Expand

    This is one of the most fun games i think i have ever played. Smooth graphics and funny rag doll physics make this game good, but great gameplay, good controll and authenticity make it freeking sweet. I am buying ASAP!

    man this sucks i cant even play the game cuz it just doesnt want to work. every time i press play DOD a pop says "unable to read library steam.dll". i mean whats up what that i payed 20 dollars and it doesnt work? valve are worst game producers and im not buying another one of their games again cuz it'll will not let me play!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    The best WW2 mod available due to size of maps and the array of weapon choice. The HL engine runs the greatest out of all FPS. Battlefield makes a close 2nd to this game.

    Complete pile of trash... Man did I waste my money! Clearly those that say this is the "most realistic ww2 game ever" havent played Red Orchestra.. The DoD Original was so much better than this game, everything was perfectly balanced, now it's all unbalanced and everyone is running around bunny hopping and shooting like crazy.

    I don't see any advantages of the source game engine, because all in game simply rush with too big speed. The graphycs in game on an average level. It's looks like a generic arcade, I can't play this after CS:S. CS:S - really good production.

    This game is nothing short of pukker... Its current 80 rating is unjustified. I played it on the free weekend and literally played it all weekend. It is hard to start with as sniping is a major part to the game however whereas in CSS its frustrating and hard to find cover going prone and crawling for cover is all part of the intense fun. If you want to leave the ' bang bang your dead ' of CSS and play a tactical ' multiplayer ' game this is it.... Thankyou steam for the free weekend... I am now off to buy it.… Expand

    It was pretty bad compared to all other WW2 games out there. CoD mulitplyer is far better than this. But come on Russians, Italians, Japanise, And The British were in the war too! Boring Game Types Make This Not Worth Playing Or The Money.

    DoD was the best WWII game I have ever played, and when DoD:S was released using the new source engine, wow it blew me away, it's much better then any of the WWII games on the market right, I even just tried Red Orchestra, and wow that game sucks so much compared to this, graphics, gameplay, sound and all.

    only ting missing is bulletproof stuff and face update. tis game is much better dan counter-strike. counter don,t got MG leg zandbags or and other. plus no cover on groud. and not much radio commandts to say grannette take cover and ohter.

    Team based play is a must for this game,if your mg, assult or rifle,there is always a enemy to counter attack your actions,so its be quick or be dead.excellent detail in player models and maps. and the shock nade affect is awsome,what a way to flush the enemy out, in to your gun fire.

    Low fps for not so cool effects, bugs ported from dod to the source version, lag like you were playing doom III on a P75, steam is the worst client ever ! (lots of RAM / poor download rate / IM down for a year / favorite server list reinitialize by itself ... ) RUN AWAY

In general making comparisons, it is far better than most of the steam games. The general game play i found to be very accurate, not like most games where you shoot someone with three magasines and they are alive.     Great game. Just barely lives up to the original, but still a great play. Nice to see them release regular updates for the game, adding new maps and game content for free unlike some other games. Great team based play, a good team strategy greatly helps, and the game is usually most fun to play with groups like clans or guilds.

    Apmped IGO obviously hasn't played many games. The 'crackle of machine gun fire' and 'hearing bullets wiz past your head' is a feature included in the greater majority of WW2 games, including Call of Duty, which came out before DOD Source.

    Great game, though I'm laming FPS The only negative point is that you really need to play on a server with the MG's & snipers limited, because when team is losing they all go start laming with snipers or mg's

Second all around the game play is fun and exciting listening to the realistic sounds and other features. But the only fall backs of this game are minor details.     Sucks!!, wish I could get my money back. Can't seem to control the weapons, hard to get a proper aim, seems to always have an annoying lag, and generally, leaves me completely frustrated!! I'm glad I have good old DOD to fall back on. At least I can do okay on that game.

    Definitely one of the most overlooked games around. Admittedly at release it was lacking, but now that it has many maps and updates, it is an incredible game. You feel like you are fighting in a real conflict, like you have something more vested in winning than "pwning n00bs", with that and respawning, it offers many things that CS and CS:S do not.

    Quite simply put, Valve took everything that made the original great, and chucked them in the bin. I dont like this. I dont like this one bit.

    One of the more underrated FPS's in my opinion, it has good balance with the player classes. It doesn't really favor being a sniper or a machine gunner, or assault classes by giving them more special abilities. I also like the fact that you respawn pretty quickly too.

    I expect to be playing DoD a lot more than "Couterstrike: Source"... I recommend DoD:S to the multiplayer action crowd, but don't come crying to me when things start getting stale.

    While the game still needs some patching, and is unfortunately not DoD as we know it, this is still an absolutely fantastic package; those after a new multiplayer shooter can’t really go wrong with this one. Oh, and expect this score to go up over time as Valve patches out various problems.
