  1. Yes, yes, no doubt Valve will release more maps soon and the community is already churning new content out, but are we expected to pay for an updated mod that was free which offers less content than the original but that’s supposed to be ok because the community will fix it? Huh? That’s logic I can't wrap my head around.
  2. Love it or hate it, DOD's war is an apparently contradictory compulsion.

At $20 a la carte or bundled for cheap with other Valve products, anyone who enjoys this kind of game should easily get his money's worth.

Taken with the limitations of only four maps, on which to play one game type, all too soon you can find yourself in a mechanical rut playing them over and over. And that's something that the original didn't suffer from.

I think this game is way too hard.I join a server, pick my class and i would be running for about 10 seconds and i get shot.Theres no teamworkI think this game is way too hard.I join a server, pick my class and i would be running for about 10 seconds and i get shot.Theres no teamwork involved. The way i saw this was that everyone was just running around shooting eachother.Only buy this if you are amazing at first person shooters because i think you will be fighting alot of nerds. There's classes and it requires team work but unlike TF2 there is skill in aiming and shooting and there's lots of recoil. The gameplay can be addicting, but it's nothing special, though. Personally I prefer this to CSS. The movement and controls feel more smooth, and the recoil is massively exaggerated for better balancing. Each gun feels VERY different so picking the right class at the right time can make the difference between victory and loss. The problem this game suffers from is the lack of decent servers. I mostly played custom "orange" maps for more gun on gun action because the standard maps do suck (apart from dod_avalanche and dod_colmar). It manages to feel realistic but still keep gameplay simple and arcade in a way. Full Review »
