    This new DoD uses the new engine to it's fullest! I feel like an Army recruiter and constantly ask my friends and co-workers to pay the small amount of $20.00 for this game. I even offer to buy the game off of them if they don't eventually love playing it. The simple commands and fast action make this my favority on-line shooter. The BF games always took too long to load up, This new DoD uses the new engine to it's fullest!     A fully realized replacement for DoD 1.3, beautiful maps, fully rendered sounds and sights, two additional maps released since the game was put out and two more on the way, loads of servers to play on and continues to be supported by the developers. Needs more maps, some tweeking of the weapons to off-set an Axis advantage, and some hit-box issues that need to be addressed.

    Despite critics complaints over limited amounts of maps, this game is unbelievably great. As an player of DoD Original since its beta days, the game has come quite a long ways and on the new Source engine, only goes further. Gameplay is more fast paced, realistic, and of course more visually stunning than the Original.     Much like CS:S this is a faithful recreation of a HL1 mod, redesigned with the care and attention to detail it deserved. Valve didn't keep the British army in, but the core gameplay is the same. It's tense, although not very exciting. You get killed easily, respawn quickly, and never give up attacking.

    The gameplay isn't for everyone, but once you get into it the actual game can be quite rewarding. It feels like TF2 + CSS + WW2 setting = DoD Source. There's classes and it requires team work but unlike TF2 there is skill in aiming and shooting and there's lots of recoil. The gameplay can be addicting, but it's nothing special, though.     The best game I ever played. Ultra realistic and very nice looking. I play for 3 years now and I can't get bored. I recommend this game to every WW2 games fan.

    I think this game is way too hard.I join a server,pick my class and i would be running for about 10 seconds and i get shot.Theres no teamwork involved.The way i saw this was that everyone was just running around shooting eachother.Only buy this if you are amazing at first person shooters because i think you will be fighting alot of nerds.

    This is a great flop...nice graphics but the gameplay has been fucked over so hard that DoD 1.6 don't even bother with it. Thanks VALVe for killing the DoD community with this crap game that you guys never update. Maybe you'll invest more time into making crappy games like Red Orchestra to get more money and never update the solid games that actually have a fan-base. Goodjob, Valve.

    It was pretty bad compared to all other WW2 games out there. CoD mulitplyer is far better than this. But come on Russians, Italians, Japanise, And The British were in the war too! Boring Game Types Make This Not Worth Playing Or The Money.

    Extremely buggy, limited maps, limited weapons, but gradually (because of steam) it gets better. Tiny updates now and then help it get better and better gradually. Do I love every moment of it? Oh yes...

    Pretty bad game, none of the guns are portrayed correctly, too much recoil, runs much worse than CS or HL2, bad levels and all in all just not a fun game at all.

    Total garbage compared to the original. The bazooka class is far too overpowered due to the fact that allies get a carbine as a secondary. Weapons were taken out, and currently, models look worse than before. Valve should of stuck with a direct port, cause I know I want my money back. Search for DODC or Day of Destruction.

Some games seem to have the notion that when you fire a gun the kick forces it up, this is true, but DOD goes way overboard with kick.     Well I loved the original, more that any other game I played. While this version looks better, I`m afraid it doesn`t do it for me. It`s all run and gun, no strategy like the original. Plays more like unreal tornament than a WW II game in my opinion.

    I gave dod 10 in rating bot only 6 to dods why..? because of the weapons, i would like if u made it more lige the old where there are many more weapons to chose between.

    Random and sudden spawning enemies, weak weapons, poor collision, failed game mechanics (no value to actually jumping in) and misguided intent. this is a poor ww2 game even compared to cheap mill shooters i have actually played through. aside from good graphics and nice sounds, this is a waste of time and money. not all that glitters is gold, and this cheap game proves that.

Even more fun with Friendly Fire on and killing an enemy throwing a grenade and have them kill their own team from it. You know ya wanna buy it , go on , that's right , do it right now. Beware a of the Woody with primed nades.Been playing this for almost 6yrs and it's awesome. Best part about it is throwing their nades back at them an seein how many you can kill.     There's nothing to say about the visuals used, the Source engine is still looking great, especially with the new features updated lately. But that doesn't make up for the rather poor mechanism and lack of innovation in this game, it's probably just as frustrating as the first game first found as a mod for the original Half-Life.

    Graphics were good but game-play is less then stellar. I don't understand why you only get iron sights for only one class per team.... Either give every weapon iron sights or none of them. The original is far better despite its outdated visuals.

    Apmped IGO obviously hasn't played many games. The 'crackle of machine gun fire' and 'hearing bullets wiz past your head' is a feature included in the greater majority of WW2 games, including Call of Duty, which came out before DOD Source.

    Complete pile of trash... Man did I waste my money! Clearly those that say this is the "most realistic ww2 game ever" havent played Red Orchestra.. The DoD Original was so much better than this game, everything was perfectly balanced, now it's all unbalanced and everyone is running around bunny hopping and shooting like crazy.

    As a dod veteran, I must say the game was a particular flop. If it weren't for the source engine this game wouldn't last long. I would have definitely perferred if valve had left everything as it was and just changed the engine just for eye candy.

    Sucks!!, wish I could get my money back. Can't seem to control the weapons, hard to get a proper aim, seems to always have an annoying lag, and generally, leaves me completely frustrated!! I'm glad I have good old DOD to fall back on. At least I can do okay on that game.

    Low fps for not so cool effects, bugs ported from dod to the source version, lag like you were playing doom III on a P75, steam is the worst client ever ! (lots of RAM / poor download rate / IM down for a year / favorite server list reinitialize by itself ... ) RUN AWAY

    man this sucks i cant even play the game cuz it just doesnt want to work. every time i press play DOD a pop says "unable to read library steam.dll". i mean whats up what that i payed 20 dollars and it doesnt work? valve are worst game producers and im not buying another one of their games again cuz it'll will not let me play!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    This game is horrible, use source motor but the graphics. The sight of all the arms cannot be used, the way to act of the weapon when shooting is terrible

    Disaster, the gun damages are all screwy compared to original dod, they cut out the British and a lot of the weapons and no dod_charlie? And the hand model skins are awful. The 3 is only because the maps are extremely pretty.

    This game is the worst WWII game ever! Its not realistic at all. Some of the people who rated this 5 or up should try Red Orchestra! Red Orchestra is basically a simulation game. Its graphics are great and it has good, realistic gameplay. The only problem is the NPCs are kind-of messed up. But I do not recommend DoD:S at all. Crappy graphics AND gameplay.

    DoD : S ça c'est du jeu ! Plus réel ke jamais, il nous plonge ds la réalité de la guerre ds des batailles a 32 ou 64 joueurs ! Seul point desavantageux : il manque une ou deux class player. Bref, DoD: S c'est la guerre ;)

    Ce jeu est magnifique, mais il manque quelque chose du premier volet......Par exemple les skins des personnages sont trop basiques,tous identiques que ce soit pour l' AXIS ou pour les ALLIES...les skins des anglais , des paras americains ou des paras allemands et les maps qui les acompagnent sont regrettables.     Team based play is a must for this game,if your mg, assult or rifle,there is always a enemy to counter attack your actions,so its be quick or be dead.excellent detail in player models and maps. and the shock nade affect is awsome,what a way to flush the enemy out, in to your gun fire.

    only ting missing is bulletproof stuff and face update. tis game is much better dan counter-strike. counter don,t got MG leg zandbags or and other. plus no cover on groud. and not much radio commandts to say grannette take cover and ohter.

    Ok - so I really think it's unfair the DoD:S's rating has been hammered by poor reviews just after it was released. More maps are being released all the time and yet reviews such as "the limitations of only four maps, on which to play one game type" pull the score down. DoD was, is and always will be excelent.

    Great game! best old world game i've ever played, i even think it's better that all of the call of duty's. the music theme for when you first get into the game is the best i've ever heard.

    Great game, but I'd love to see the British team again, maybe you could add a sovjet team as well and add some new maps, would be great for the game to get 2 new teams to choose.

But its the multiplayer that sets it aside from games like killzone and even its predecessor. It has a plethora of game modes, guns, equipment and perks.     This game has great graphics, sound, and game play. It is an excellently well thought out game with awesome maps. The only to be desired is a more realistic damage system and better hit registery. I have many problems where I will fire about 13 rounds point blank with someone whilst aimed at there chest, but only 1 round will register for about 30 damage.     I was usually at the bottom of any server score list, but it was ALWAYS a blast! Loved sneaking behind the allied lines and scoping with the fg42. Best mod next to Natural Selection (get that too!)

    Day of defeat Source is underrated. The game didn´t have such massive advertising as other games but needs more eye on it. When you are into the game for a while and know where and what to do, ist better than Counter Strike Source. The only thing is, it could need more official maps.

    I think the source engine make the maps more beautiful. It Negative: Few Maps available...but there will be more... The new remaked map dod_kalt has many bugs. Also the game itselfs still has bugs.

    Pure WWII goodness! Even though some maps are in the works, like my favorite dod_charley, this game is the BEST WWII game!

    Furious gameplay that is addicting and challenging along with one of the best graphics engines out there. It'll have you drooling and hiding from friends during all hours of a day!

    Valve screwed the pooch on this one. Gamespeed was pushed to a frenetic pace, compared to the original, which is a plus if you're more into deathmatches than tactics. The graphics and physics, however, are well concieved and executed! The free mod was superior in all regards, but I still enjoy this newer version enough to give it a "thumbs up".

    best little squads action ww2 game on PC today, a little more realisticism can be obtained without the player's jumping at all but only scaling obstacles.

    may not have all the player classes from DoD but this is one sweet game....the source game i spend the most time in.

    Outstandingly beautiful, great gameplay, the first game you should buy from Valve if you like the fps action genre.

    usually in some games teamwork helps, but in this game it is necessary and in the proccess of taking over a flag, u c ur teammates around u get shot and dye or c their helmet fly off. Very Realistic

    I expect to be playing DoD a lot more than "Couterstrike: Source"... I recommend DoD:S to the multiplayer action crowd, but don't come crying to me when things start getting stale.

    While the game still needs some patching, and is unfortunately not DoD as we know it, this is still an absolutely fantastic package; those after a new multiplayer shooter can’t really go wrong with this one. Oh, and expect this score to go up over time as Valve patches out various problems.
