I am quite disappointed by the fact that the game felt so unpolished and crashed so much.
-
Dark Horizon is one of those games that make you mutter, “been there, done that”. One gets reminded of old classic games like Wing Commander, but sadly without any novelty bonus. Be sure to check out the demo before picking up the title from the store.
-
When I first heard about this game, it sounded like a cut down version of Freelancer or Starlancer two of my favorite space shooters of all time in the gameplay department. While it was a good attempt to give the genre another go, this is one game that did not even give it a good old try to re-invigorate this dead genre.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Slightly above-average, this space shooter builds its playability on frenetic dogfights and detailed tuning of the vessel. Poor visuals of the surrounding universe reduce the overall impression. [Nov 2008]

Dark Horizon is a game that should be seen, not heard. Whether it should be played depends on just how empty your life is.
-
BoomtownIt’s just average. It doesn’t push the bar in any way with nothing revolutionary appearing in it. The best way to describe this game is safe.
-
So, Dark Horizon isn’t a horrible game. It’s just not a very good one, either. While nothing about it is particularly offensive, it still absolutely fails to generate any interest in a genre that, in most people’s eyes, stagnated a long time ago.
