From the laughable 'RPG' aspect of the game to strange arcadey driving or the complete lack of interaction with the city / NPCs. The boring sponge-shooting fest that gunfights where you'll empty magazine after magazine into mindless AI, and shovel piles and piles of the same looking gun to clog up the already cluttered and horribly designed interface. The stealth approach is just an exercise in frustration and simply does not work. Most of the items you pick up are completely useless and only serve to make money or 'craft'. Aside from the main & side quests there is simply nothing to do in Night city.

Overall the game tries to convey a sense of complexity and depth but after the few hours playing through the prologue and completing a few quests you soon realise it was all just smoke and mirrors and that the game has the depth of a puddle.

I do not think any amount of fixes or DLC content can make this game any better than just 'mediocre' which is a shame considering the potential that the game's universe had.

To start this review, I want to point out that I am an avid RPG love, meaning that I can overlook only serviceable graphics/mechanics if the game is able to draw me in with its story or world.

I gave the game a 6, but it can potentially go up to an 8 if the bugs are sorted out. For reference, besides numerous non-game-breaking bugs (textures not showing, objects floating above ground, T-poses, etc) I also had 6 crashes, from which two resulted in blue-screen with save file corruption.

Besides all the bugs, I feel the addition of GTA style gameplay does not bode well with an RPG. It results in annoying situations that break the gameplay flow. For example, while driving towards a mission, you will sometime hit civilians; this results in the police placing a bounty on your head, officers spawning out of mid air; at that point you would have to hide for a while for the officers off your trail so you can start the story mission. While this does not bother me in GTA, in Cyberpunk is extremely annoying as here I am expecting to be able to roleplay my character without this type of interruptions.

The story is very engaging and does a good job using cyberpunk themes, but at the same time it feels overly-linear without many opportunities for the player to influence it. I do know that all games offer only the illusion of choice, but for me other games do a better job at this than Cyberpunk.

Although we are now creating our own character, this is purely visual, don't expect to get a blank slate like in Elder Scrolls series. V has its own personality and comes with its backstory in which you do not have much input even during dialogue choices - if someone asks you if you used a tech before, you don't get options to confirm or deny it, V will respond automatically to this. This did not influence my score, but I think is relevant for the review.
What is disappointing are the life paths. At the start of the game you can select your origin, but the related missions only last for about 15-20 minutes and afterwards it is barely acknowledged during the rest of the game.

Secondary missions are split into "side jobs" and "gigs". While the side jobs are fun, similar in style to Witcher 3's secondary missions, gigs are boring, you gain them just by going to a place on the map and are completed automatically (via a phone call).

The combat is fun and there are many ways to advance your character. Some are level/xp dependent - attributes and skills, but some depend more on the amount of money you have (implants). One small criticism I have of the progression is that most perks are boring "X% increase in damage if using a rifle" type. One thing I like, is that you do not gain perk points only at level up, but also via performing certain actions - using shotguns will give points for shotgun/LMG tree.

To summarize, I think once the bugs will get sorted out, this will be a good FPS game with solid story missions with GTA style open world gameplay in between. But, going in expecting a good RPG there is potential for disappointment and overall I think is a step down when compared to the Witcher series.

For me, the two biggest complaints is that I don't like any of the characters. As well as the fact that everything it does has been done just as well, if not better, by something else. The Outer Worlds did the hyper capitalist corporatocracy aspect better; Dragon Age does the role playing video game aspect better; Fallout and the Elder Scrolls do open worlds better; GTA has better driving; and while I don't know of any cyberpunk style games, any cyberpunk anime does it better.

Over all, its a very average game that was marketed and hyped FAR over what it delivered. Lower your expectations if you still want it.

Firstly let me say this game in its current state feels more like an alpha or early beta with the amount of bugs. Some are just immersion breaking, others completely ruin aspects of the game. If I was giving this game a rating based on how it currently is it would be a 2. I’m going to try and overlook them to rate the game based on its story and gameplay however.

As far as an RPG Cyberpunk is severely lacking. It has similar cause and effect as something like Red Dead Redemption 2, with the game mostly being exactly the same bar a few minor differences based on dialogue options, and a few different cutscenes. Outside of that there’s almost no RPG elements, limited customisation, a superficial empty world with zero interaction, and an awful loot system. The story missions are fun, but I find myself not caring for the characters and it all feels quite rushed. The writing is nothing special and often I’m confused on what is really happening. Graphically the game is fine, nothing amazing, but it doesn’t look bad either. There are many better looking games out there. (And there are plenty of graphical bugs)
There’s almost no feel to Night City, locations have no backstory or lore, side quests just send you to a building and you kill everyone inside, that’s it. Overall this game is disappointing, lacking features and definitely shouldn’t have been released in this state. Despite that it has some fun elements, so a 6 is justified. Pick it up when it’s on sale as the game is big enough for some hours of fun but just don’t expect anything to really get your teeth into.

Every second you are doing looting, which it starts to become very irritiating and annoying. After the first 5 hours, when you continue looting and checking which item is better, it starts to be like "MY GOD. NOT AGAIN !" The rest is good.

Shortly, The game potential is very good. Better than the most of games out there, for real. It even has the game of the year potential, but not with this technic problems and looting problem. This game tries to implement great features from other games, but it didn't do it very well. The game is overall is 'meh'. Do not expect much from this game, just go into it with an open mind and you will be satisfied, but not in the good way... more like "that meal was ok, but what should I plan to eat tomorrow?".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. -Gameplay (Driving, action, control):Apart from the gameplay promised by the producer firm, Cyberpunk has been a game with an average level of gameplay compared to the year it was released(2020).
Driving mechanics were (really)below average and combat mechanics were mediocre.it is an FPS game, CDPR should been give more effort to combat mechanics. The variety of weapons is very much but their mechanics are very similar.
Character control good enough. We have various physical upgrade our character and their adaptation to the gameplay has very successful.

-Graphics and Design:The biggest part of the game. Each object has been taken care of and the design of the city is truly magnificent. It is a game with above average graphics compared to the generation. The biggest factor that saves the game is success in graphics and design.

-Musics and Sound Effects:Another point that I find successful is musics. Their music contains offensive language similar to the atmosphere it is in, this detail is nice. Radio stations are also varied and numerous.
If we look at the sound effects, some of the characters have successfully voiced , while others have not been cared for. The sounds of the cars are very similar to each other.Sports cars and heavy vehicles could be better distinguished.
By the way, they distinguished the gun sounds very well. The sound effects during the combat are good

Story,Side Quests,Mission Design and Dialogues:They wrote an interesting main story, it was a story with a plot suitable for the period in which the game took place.
The side missions should definitely have been done with more care. The number of quality side missions is really few. There are really many repetitive missions.
The mission design depends on your gameplay. If you want stealth, you can hack the enemies but if you want fight with them you can start gunfight. The game has given you an opportunity to create the mission design yourself. It was a really nice feature.
The dialogues on the other hand are too much, but not sufficiently original. Texts are gushing all over the game, there are hundreds of chips in the game but very few of them contain interesting text and dialogues.

Technical(Physics,Gunshot effects...):The physics engine of the game is really bad. It has a very low level physics engine compared to a AAA game. Car crashes, NPC physics ... Let's not talk about it.
I didn't like the impact in the game. Limb rupture is a nice detail but the impact of the sniper and gun is the same, and this is a very bad feeling for me.Also fight mechanics not good too. Very artificially designed.

İnterface:The interface was neither good nor bad. The part describing the weapon features was very mixed, but the cyber hardware part was plain and nice. So some parts were good, some parts were not.

-CDPR was crushed under self-generated hype.
-It's not good enough for a game that has been actively prepared for 4 years.
-I didn't mention bugs and glitches, but these are important shortcomings.
-Cyberpunk 2077 has not been a good experience for CDPR as expected, I hope they can get back to it.

The dialogue is good. The characters feel genuine and endearing/threatening and intelligent (in the case of villains). But if you go into this game expecting to have choice across the board, you will be disappointed. I think it may be the nature of a fully voiced game, but you do not really get to craft your personality. Your choices in dialogue seem to boil down to two things: which person to side with (and consequently who do then piss off) and how many questions do you want to ask before you let the story continue. As for choices in gameplay, you have two: shoot deadly weapons and swing sharp swords, or shoot nonlethal weapons and swing blunt weapons. Stealth doesn't work well, and there are not really any options to act rationally and diplomatically. If like me you expected to make a slick talker who can get out of any jam with his wits, you will be disappointed. You are a gunner/slasher and that is what you do. If you don't invest in combat, it's going to be a heck of a slog. 10 bullets to the head to kill a man... anyway, the writing really saves this game from the above and other unmentioned issues i had. Just do your research and know what game you are getting into. If you want roleplay and stealth done better in a sci fi shooter, try the metro series. Bonus: they actually run decently.

This game can be aptly described in just one phrase: The "allusion of immersion" defines this game. Night City appears deep and lifeful, so long as you don't try to interact with any of the NPCs. Night City appears deep and lifeful, so long as you don't try to interact with any of the NPCs. The police appear around the city in general gameplay, but try to fight them and they turn into omnipotent, teleporting deities that just spawn behind you in ever greater numbers until you're dead. The NPC shopkeepers don't have any interactions available, don't expect to be buying and eating noodles from a street vender unless they're explicitly marked on the map. In essence, this game takes the NPC AI from the Witcher 3 and transposes it into a Cyberpunk world. Walking, talking, skin-deep robots that have no interactions beyond "press F to say a one-liner".

And don't expect much more from the enemy AI, either. Stealth is summed up as "stay out of their cone of vision, walk slowly, and hope that nobody notices you as that triggers *every single other enemy nearby* into a combat state". It's, again, skin-deep and barebones. Enemies don't try to flank you, they don't try to swarm you, they don't try to take any combat techniques more advanced than "sit behind cover and shoot if you have a gun, rush them if you have a melee weapon".

The combat is where things begin to improve, albeit only slightly. The gunplay offers a bit of variety, with the ability to choose between rifles, pistols, shotguns, and SMGs, all of which feel fairly unique and interesting to use. The "quickhacks" add another layer of interesting mechanics, allowing for an extra avenue of damage potential, alongside the intelligence they can provide. These systems overall mesh into an interesting feel, something that feels a bit like the Witcher 3's combat with its' variety of spells, weapons, and potions to use. And even if the cover system leaves a lot to be wanted, combat is fairly well-flehsed out and an interesting mechanic overall.

The story is where this game truly shines, though. In true CDPR fashion, there is a wide variety of interesting side encounters to be had, from crime-fighting missions to collection missions, to assassinations. While these may feel a bit samey after a while, they offer a way to become immersed in this world considering the absolute lack of outside worldsculpting, and give players ample opportunity to spend their time. The main story is well-written, with its outcomes being determined by the side quests you take, and gives the player the opportunity to apply their background and skills to allow for easier progression.

All taken in, Cyberpunk is a beautiful, if not skin-deep game essentially modeled on the Witcher 3's successes. The skill tree truly allow for a wide range of playstyles even beyond what the Witcher offered, and makes combat much more unique. But, the downright abysmal NPC AI and police interactions drag the immersive feel of this world outside missions *way* down, and given the lack of even basic shopkeeper interactions, can leave the world feeling empty and stale at times. I still have a lot of content to be worked through in the storyline, but I'm fearful this game will turn bland and empty after the story is complete in a way that other open-world games like Fallout, GTAV, and RDR2 manage to avoid. Overall, this game is well-suited to fans of other more shallow open world games, but leaves a lot to be desired for fans of more crafted open worlds like those found in Rockstar games.

I am aware of the bugs and glitches which I have experienced myself, but that's the least of my concerns as it can get fixed (Sorry for you console bros out there).

The world and its aesthetic looks fantastic and is filled with interesting stuff, but at the same time it feels so empty. The NPCs AI are all so basic and makes San Andreas look complex. The Police AI is a joke and is actually worse than any Rockstar game (Yes, even GTA 1). The street vendors, food stalls etc are mostly non-interactive and makes you feel like you're only a spectator of the world.
There are not a lot of cars or people in the world for being a large metropolis (Probably due to FPS drops). Random events in the world is basically non-existant. There is so much, but yet so little.

The storyline is really interesting with great characters. It' trully is the greatest aspect of the game and in my opinion is the true beacon of light. I would go in to depth of the characters, but I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible. Let's just say it won't dissapoint you and would in my opinion be the driving force for you to continue playing. The issues I have are the variety of dialogue choices and V's life path is not important whatsoever.

The gameplay itself is decent. Some of the combat feels clunky, the shooting is what you expect from a FPS shooter. Stealth is less than avarage, and the same goes to when you need to take cover. The driviing is slow and can feel a bit awkward. I find the RPG element interesting, but it's not really a lot to it. I'd say the RPG element is okay at best. The physics of the game is okay, not amazing. All in all, it's a decent FPS game with some RPG elements to it, and that's all it is. It's decent at best.

The customisation in the game is pretty bad. You get to customise your character in the beginning, and that's basically it. No customisation to your body, hair, vehicle, weapons or anything like that later in the game. It makes the game feel much less personal and interactive. There are no garage or parking lots for you to save your car. There are also no meaningful construct of a personality to the character.

This is a game that is very good in terms of story and world, but at best avarage on almost everything else. I wish I would like it more than I did, but it never really delivered the immersion that I expected. Disappointing experiece.

I went into this game with low expectations. The hype was through the roof and I knew the game couldn't be everything people wanted it to be. But it is so much worse than that.
Worst part is the performance. There was no official footage of consoles or lower end PC prior to launch and just as expected, game is extremely buggy and badly optimized. I have PC with specs somewhere between minimum and closer to recommended settings. I didn't expect high settings, but even on the lowest settings, game often dips under 25 FPS.
Bugs are frequent. Most of them only immersion breaking (textures not loading, clipping, NPC talking over each other,...), but I experienced some that forced me to restart the game (unable to pick up items, npc not reacting,... ) and of course game crashes. It was very deceptive to show the game only on the best hardware and only on PCs where they knew game will run great.

Night city was promised to be "the most believable city in an open world game to date". So that was a f.cking lie. People in the city are absolutely soulless. They cant be interacted with, only respond by running away a little bit and then just standing still or simply all crouching down simultaneously. They talk to you with their one line of dialogue and that's it. "Random events" are very underwhelming. For example scavengers bullying homeless man is just few people standing around crouched homeless man, not doing anything and if you kill them the saved man doesn't move at all.
Police AI is laughably bad. If you kill anyone the just spawn nearby and more you kill the more they spawn. Wanted stars don't mean anything expect for number of spawned cops. If you run away even a little bit, they won't bother chasing you.
Driving AI is same story. Like I said cops just spawn behind you, they don't drive cars. There is small number of predetermined paths that NPC cars follow and that's it. If you block a road, they wont deviate even a little bit to continue their path. Driving within a mission is better, but only because missions can be defined more precisely.

Shooting is ok, nothing groundbreaking. Inventory management and equipment could use and overhaul, especially when you're forced to choose between good stats of the thousands of items you pick up and roleplay of what your V would wear and wield.
interactivity in open world is sorely missing (transmog, game machines, shops, garage, apartment and body customization, barbershops, tattoo artists, interactions with objects,...). A lot of these features are found in RPG games more than decade old. It doesn't have to be all of them but even some would bring life to this visually beautiful yet empty city.

I didn't beat the game yet, only about 8 missions so I won't touch on story too much. The cyberpunk aspect of game touches only the surface of cyberpunk genre. From what I seen and heard from people who beat the story the game doesn't explore the themes and goals of cyberpunk too much. Dystopian shooter with androids is not necessarily cyberpunk. I may be wrong (it doesn't affect my score too much) and might change this after I beat the game. It's distressing that there is a generation of people for whom this will their introduction to cyberpunk genre. This should have been revival of cyberpunk and instead we got lukewarm corporate friendly "cyberpunk".

Musical and art direction is beautiful. It's the only redeeming factor really. People working on this side of the game deserve all the credit they can.

I might revisit the game after some time, when things are fixed and with better hardware and then revise my score. But now, the game is only playable on PC with the best hardware and even there it doesn't deliver the experience promised.
Let this serve as a yet another reminder for Gamers™ to not trust corporations. Who am I kidding, they don't care. Flashy game with sexy androids is cyberpunk enough for them.

Driving- Again, it's "fine". No where even close to as good as GTA V, way better than Watch Dogs 1.

    The bad-
Buggy, poor performance, pop in issues, audio crackling

Immersion- There's very little immersion in the world. You can't interact with arcade machines, sit and get a drink at the bar, etc... this would go in the mediocre section except for the fact CDPR marketed this as the "most immersive open world game ever". BS.

Customization- Outside of the initial character creator(which is "meh" at best anyways), the only customization is clothing, which you can't really enjoy since the coolest looking threads have poor armor ratings, and no transmog. Can't get a haircut, can't repaint your nails, get cyber contacts, can't decide to swap your dick for a cyber-vag.

    AI- Garbage, plain and simple.

Civilian NPCs are lifeless. They just do their pre-scripted actions and thats it.

Kill a gang member that HAS A BOUNTY? 5-10 Cops appear out of no where to murder you. Be in the general vicinity of a cop? They attack, and then 5-10 Cops appear out of no where to murder you. Kill just about anyone outside of a mission, even if you're miles away in the badlands with nobody around? 5-10 Cops appear out of no where to murder you. Somehow run away with your life after 5-10 Cops appear out of no where to murder you? Cops completely give up the chase, there is zero car chases outside of missions.

One of the big complaints with Witcher 3 was the lighting engine downgrade, which had ripple effects through many other aspects of the game. Textures and geometry were also downgraded, sometimes significantly. That is not the case here. Textures look stunning. The lighting is absolutely excellent. The one minor complaint I have is with rain. Rain that falls on surfaces, like windows for example, looks good, but the actual rain itself isn't the least bit impressive. A game that did rain correctly was Arkham Knight. The rain in Cyberpunk is more like a flat, semi transparent white sheet. There is no refraction present, so I am not sure if it's a large texture sheet or clustered (or individual) raindrops. This is likely a tradeoff made to not worsen framerates. I only mention the rain because it's sort of a staple for Cyberpunk as a genre. Everything else I have seen however, looks phenomenal - including RTX features - with the downside being that RTX absolutely tanks performance. This might not be as big of an issue had we not seen what was essentially paper launches from both AMD and Nvidia - but judging from people with those cards, they are faring only slightly better.

Optimization is atrocious. I say that knowing full well that "optimization" doesn't happen with the press of a button. It takes time. Unfortunately, CDPR didn't take enough time. GPU utilization ebbs and flows on the low end for me (2080 Super) anywhere from 25-40%, while CPU usage (3900x) is hovering nearly maxed out. RTX randomly slows the game to a crawl on a 20 series card, regardless of if I am running in 2560x1080 or 3440x1440. DLSS manages to keep the game from dropping down into single digits, but I experience regular and persistent drops into the low 20s. There are countless other issues as I mentioned earlier - NPCs floating, weird physics, disappearing or magically appearing cars, light rays flickering, light sources like muzzle flashes visible through walls, etc. These are the types of issues that, like it or not, have become baked into large AAA launches. I won't be too harsh about it, because ultimately, I fully expect that these performance issues and bugs will be addressed - and done so pretty early on. Nothing can compare to Arkham Knight's disastrous launch on PC, where WB actually pulled the game off shelves and Steam for the better part of 2-3 months, at least I hope.

Some of these performance issues however seem to be tied in part to crowd density - which brings me to another point of contention: Just what the hell are these NPCs doing? Very few appear to have actual routines. Many are spawned in from nowhere as you enter the surrounding area and despawned when you leave. Turning around and going back and you will see completely different NPCs occupying the same spaces, clipping through each other. There are relatively few vendors that you can actually buy ♥♥♥♥ from or interact with. Contrast this with Kingdom Come: Deliverance - another game that runs rather roughly even today. KC:D's NPCs all have functions. They all have routines and jobs. Very few here do, and while the variety is far greater than what we got in Witcher 3 (with parts of faces, hair, eyes, mouths and clothes swapped around in a half dozen different configurations), it isn't difficult at all to see identical NPCs standing right next to each other.

Furthermore, this problem affects gameplay. Cops spawn in from nowhere. Shoot someone in a closed alleyway, and watch as NCPD magically appears and starts blasting. Contrast that with KC:D, where guards would actually come from guard towers, where crimes actually had to be witnessed. The AI is also notably unintelligent. A cop can get blasted, laying on the ground, while another cop stands there bored. Shooting in public will make half the NPCs cower down, while the other half walk about like nothing has happened. Can we really call this next gen with a serious face? I understand that implementing any sort of real solution to a game of this scale would be problematic, and I am confident that I don't have a solution - but Cyberpunk's multitude of issues with NPCs and AI should frankly be an complete embarrassment for CDPR. Even worse than that is that it isn't something that will likely be fixed quickly (or possibly even at all without official modding tools, as that would require some major AI and scripting changes.)

As such, at this point, I am honestly more inclined to say wait a month and see how things progress.

Great story, and has a lot of potential, but has a few glaring issues. The lack of any kind of AI (driving or otherwise) that is at least on par with any other open world game made in the last 10 years is incredibly immersion breaking and takes me out of the experience. Also sad the train system is not usable :/

PC version after 30+ hours of playing. Running On GTX2060 6GB, Ryzen 5 2600. From launch game worked fine for me, running stable 60 fps on high after 1.04 hotfix.

Game is visually interestic and pretty, probably prettiest game i've run on my rig so far. I noticed few bugs in this field with dissapearing vechicles. Some objects in game (fe. food on tables) are really low res. Character animations are rarely unpolished, but happens: clipping through things. Night City is diverse and colorful, keeping diffrent schemes and ideas in diffrent districts.

Audio is One of the Best parts in game, but its sometimes buggy. I had many NPC dialog bugs, making random NPC characters speak from places which are empty, looping same dialog, speaking after being killed. Otherwise audio design is really good, ambient in city improves immersion, great choice of radio stations and songs in them makes driving an activity you want to do more often, action music while entering combat are all really well made.

Gameplay has many pros but some cons which make game less enjoyable. Starting with combat, which there is a lot in game. Greatest aspect of it are diverse options you have while approaching each confrontation with enemies. You can play however you like and level design supports diffrent play styles. Strenght, Intelligence, agility are all equally aviable. Shooting feels good, weapon feeling for me is somehow comparable to Apex Legends. Weapons so far offer diffrent approaches to how you move and utilize battlefield. Although i play on hard difficulty, combat sometimes feels too easy due to stupid AI. Stealth is unbalanced, making some confrontations too easy and some unstealthable because of enemies seeing through some objects. Hacking is fun and provided options for both stealth and open combat.
Equipment is at this moment the second worst part of the game. I found multiple UI bugs in equipment panel, not letting me equip gear w (for example when i opened head slot, shirts showed up).
Crafting is easy, but wasnt explained anywhere.
The worst part for me is constant change of equipment. Each enemy drops thier gun and sometimes armor (which is cool), but they are usually better than what i have on myself. It pushes player to change apparel and weapons after each fight to have highest dps and armor equiped. You don't bond with any piece of equipment, and i didnt need to upgrade anything through crafting. Very often it doesn't make any sense, for example you find epic rarity balistic vest, but half hour later you change it to common t-shirt because it dropped from higher level enemy thus it has better armor. Perks and are fun and makes many playstyles aviable, but most of them are combat oriented. There are only few for world-oriented activities and most of those are for crafting.

Story, world building and significant characters are the steongest part of the game. I could write a lot about it, but to keep it short i will say it's the first game in which i feel my choices matter, changing both outcome of current mission, but also story in long run. Main story feels compelling and one might play only it to see what happens if not for side quests. The amount of side quests in unbelievable, and each of them provides short story, simillar how it was in Witcher 3. Some side jobs are more meaningful than others, but each provide some interesting background. Story characters have diverse personalities and you can feel that they pursue their own goals. On the other hand random NPC citizens are horrible, their AI tends to glitch out in response to players interaction with enemies. You have practicaly zero interaction with them, which leads to another problem the game has.

World interaction is minimal, limited to scripted activites. It's probably most dissapointing for me and probably many other players.
Character customatization is non existent after character creator, there are no tattoo salons, hair salons, as said before player is somewhat forced to use random clothes because they provide better stats. Game is lacking role play animations such as eating, drinking, smoking, gestures. You can't use gym equipment and other arleady existing features.

The worst part of the game at this moment is physics engine. It's most bugged and glitched part influencing all parts of the game. Cars collisions can send you flying, many objects have missplaced hitboxes etc. Its generaly in really bad shape right now.

I highly value writing and design, which overshades bugs and undevelopes in game. If you're more demanding in technical aspects of the game than me, i'd advise to wait until game is properly patched. For now, Cyberpunk gets 6/10 from me with potential to be solid 10+/10 in the future. I believe that CDPR hears our voices and will continue to work hard on the game, fixing RedEngine problems and adding missing features. They haven't dissapointed in the past, and I hope it won't change this time.

If we ignore the bugs, this open world is one of the most lifeless I have ever seen. There is 0 AI behavior for NPCs. If you shoot, they crouch in place and do nothing. They don't run like other games. There is no vehicle AI either. If you are blocking them by an inch they won't go around you like in GTA because all the cars in this game are on rails it seems with no mind of their own.

You literally phase through NPCs while walking by them. You don't physically bump them like in GTA or RDR2. You can't knock them over either. Overall they just feel hollow because of this.

Police in this game is horrid. They TP near you even if you are running away in a vehicle. There are NO POLICE CHASES. All the car chases in this game are scripted events.

Now for the good stuff. The main story is the only reason to play this game. It is actually really good with lots of big Michael Bay moments. The side quests are decent but not as good as Witcher 3 IMIO. Overall my final verdict is that for one this game should have been delayed dude to bugs, but also it seems that the budget went straight to visuals instead of deep game mechanics and an interesting open world.

It's absolutely shameful that reviewers can drop a 10 point list of flaws and still award a mediocre game like this with a 9 or 10 score. There's no way this game is even an 8. The bugs are just a surface level distraction from how empty and soulless this game actually is.

Compared to the way they marketed the open world of Cyberpunk, the end result is a empty husk with no substance.

Compared to the way they marketed the open world of Cyberpunk, the end result is a empty husk with no substance. They've put make up on a pig and "professional" reviewers eat it up for god knows what reason. This game lacks very basic features that you need for an open world game. I'm talking bare minimum stuff. One example of this is the lack of an actual AI for traffic. This game has no actual traffic Ai built into it. The drivers in this game are bots with predestined routes, no actual behaviour built into them. They drive from point A to point B and when you obstruct traffic they stop functioning and wait for you to remove said obstruction. There's no honking or switching lanes, things you'd expect from real life traffic. Things that are implemented in other open world games. GTA has had this since it's 4th installment, probably even earlier.

The way the player interacts with the police is another obvious tell of how empty this game is. There's no chase. You commit a crime and suddenly a cop teleports behind you and kills you. Again, similair games with open world structure that also have police in them have had believably interactions with police 2 generations ago. Why would a 2020 game made by one of the most respected developers not have this? There's absolutely nothing to do in this so called open world, the game would function better on rails in its current state.

Putting the lack of very basic and bare minimum AI aside, this game lacks customizability which should be a red flag considering the setting. This should be a massive opportunity for players to express themselves, but instead you get an overwhelming character creation with no means of adjusting your appearance later into the game. There are doctors that will implant you with cybertech but good luck getting a trim, cause the technology for that hasn't hit Cyberpunk yet.

What a failure of a game. I seriously doubt that this mess can be patched up.

I personally love games that allow the option to focus on stealth and coming up with alternate strategies. The core stealth mechanics of this game are practically non existent. If you want to play a game focused on Stealth, Hacking and cyber implants... play Dues Ex: Mankind Divided.

I also love FPS games and sometimes there is no greater satisfaction than going in guns blazing. The core gunplay mechanics are clunky and underwhelming. If you want to play an FPS "Action Adventure" play Far Cry or Fall Out.

I also love driving round game worlds and immersing myself in the lore and atmosphere of an open world RPG. Although, the game is now labelled as an Action Adventure it was marketed as an RPG the world is empty and entirely superficial. If you want to play a great RPG play, Skyrim, The Witcher, Assassins Creed or GTA.

Finally, I love the feeling of constantly earning better and more powerful loot that affects play style in a meaningful way. If you want to play a great looter shooter, play Borderlands instead.

This game takes aspects from many types of games but fails to deliver anything more than sub-par on any of them. I am keen to play the story all the way through to experience it, however I have no intention of returning to the game for the foreseeable future in the hope that it can changed into something remotely similar to the next gen game it could be.

In my opinion, wait for the Steam Summer or Winter Sales, as this game is nothing close to what a £50 AAA game should be.

There is 0 character customization after the initial creation window at the start of the game. No barbers, tattoo parlors, transmog system, body enhancements (besides cyberware). Stuff that has been in open world games for more than a decade.

Graphics are great when you don't see huge FPS drops randomly.

The story seems interesting thus far (about 10 hours in) but they rush you passed your first months in Night City, only giving you a spare cut scene to show how your character established themselves. From a game that is supposed to be an RPG, seems a little silly.

With another year or two of development, this could be a masterpiece. At current, its just a bunch of false promises, bugs and not up to par with the gold standard of open world games GTA V. Some of the RPG systems seem solid but most others are severely lacking.

    Wait for the GOTY edition.

I’m going to start by saying this game is not GOTY nor do I believe it’s game of the decade or even will be that memorable in 5 or 6 years; unlike the Witcher 3.

What I will say is it is a good fun game. I’m enjoying the game and happy with the purchase. However, I did not have the hype expectations that others had. Here’s my breakdown and very early impressions.

This is a narrative driven game, that must be emphasized. What that means is the world you will be hearing a lot about in reviews and discussion takes a back seat to the narrative. Most of what you will be doing is talking to important characters and progressing multiple story arcs. I’m not saying that in a negative way.

The hype: The hype for this game was overwhelming. I was one of those people that didn’t have very high expectations for this game. If you did come into this game thinking it would be revolutionary or change gaming for years to come you will be disappointed. I will say, from my perspective, it was cool to play a game on launch day that had so much hype. It’s cool to get in on the ground level of a medium like a season premier of a beloved show or hotly anticipated game such as Cyberpunk and experience it along with millions of other people in your generation. It was a first for me and I truly did enjoy the moment.

Now, I did not believe going into this game that it would be what everyone was praising it to be. I was not disappointed. My expectations were realistic coming in.

Gameplay: The gameplay is average. It’s honestly a fun game but again it’s nothing groundbreaking. Let’s talk about combat. I find the gunplay to be fun. It feels responsive enough for an RPG. It doesn’t do anything special and it doesn’t critically fail in any arena. Just as a side note so you can compare my perspective to your own; my favorite FPS game for the past few years has been Escape From Tarkov.

Onto the driving, It’s not atrocious but it can be a pain in the dick with mouse and keyboard. I find driving in first person very difficult while driving in 3rd person is manageable with some time. I refuse to play games with controllers but if you don’t mind and want a smoother experience while traveling around it may be worth it and may bring a more positive experience to your time with the game.

The AI is not the most ferocious of adversaries and their driving is pretty abysmal so just watch out.

Bugs: I’m sure you’ve heard so I’ll keep it brief. Yes, I’ve experienced a fair amount of bugs that left me scratching my head as to how some managed to leave the testing space. Some were game breaking and required reloads or even restarts.

Graphics: Looks good and plays well. I’m running a system that I would consider High end even though my hardware is outdated at this point. I have a I7 6770K - paired with a 1080 TI and 32 gigs of DDR4 at 3200. I’m missing out on the RTX but the game runs well with settings at the highest settings. I have a high refresh rate monitor and experience smooth gameplay.

Atmosphere: This is probably the most talked about aspect of this game. I don’t agree with everything people have said about the atmosphere of the city. It has been lauded for being the most livelike city people have experienced. I disagree with this. It’s a very cool looking place don’t get me wrong but the NPCs in the crowd feel like NPCs from any other game you have played. I would even say that the crowd structure of this game doesn’t do anything different than a game like Oblivion or Skyrim. It’s cool, but I enjoyed the narrative experience far more than I did being in the world itself.

Awesome game, brilliant story and mechanics bud damn is it filled with bugs... So disappointing, texture pop-ups, npc appear out of thin air, reflection that shift.
Not to mention I got stuck behind a door I couldn't open because an npc was in there and no longer could get out, had to reload to a save game at the start of the quest..

    Pity :((

Buggy and graphical issues on my base ps4. I was walking towards one NPC and suddenly fell into the ground and died. Loading screen appeared, got back onto the game and fell into the ground and died again. And it kept repeating until I restarted the game. Gameplay and storylines are good. It would be better to enjoy if it doesn't make me feel like playing through a blurry eye.

It has issues and lots of bugs, the game needed at the least another year more in development. I'm honestly shocked that it was released in the state it is, it's literally APB:Reloaded the MMO with light rpg features. I'm playing on high settings 1440p with no raytracing. Now to my main points.

Let me start by saying that modern hardware is essential to play this game, don't even bother if you're not on a newer PC with at least an ssd/nvme, 6 core cpu, and a 2060 base edition card/AMD equivalent or next gen console. This game is very poor in optimization, don't bother if you don't have the hardware.

Second, your character is fake you're literally just the guy/girl on the box, you will NEVER see your characters face again outside the menus. Character customization shouldn't be in this game they should have taken a Witcher approach with this one. However, I enjoy V his voice acting is good I just don't see the point in customization for this one.

Third, the combat is very difficult and rewarding. Stealth gameplay especially is very fun. The melee weapons are a bit clunky but still very fun. Melee combat is excellent. The hacking portion of the game is forgettable.

Fourth, the map itself is gorgeous and the areas are distinct. Each area has its own unique enemies/ gangs, clothes, vehicles and fixers to work with. It's very pretty but there isn't really anything going on in the world. There are VERY few "encounters", they are almost all marked on the map with a question mark so it's not like they're hidden. The most notable one I've had so far was a man with a robotic reproductive organ that had gone haywire who needed you to drive him to a doctor. There are some small encounters like hearing a repair man talking to a vending machine with an AI throughout the world. Past this there is absolutely nothing going on in the world besides radiant quests to go shoot up gang members.

Fifth, the quests for the most part are very enjoyable. The main story quests so far have been action packed but with almost no existent impactful choices. This is especially disappointing as Cyberpunk was marketed as an RPG (Think Fallout 4 but far worse). The side missions or "gigs" are enjoyable and take your across the map for various different things. They're fun and rewarding all around.

Sixth, romance and sex are almost no existent. There are 8 total romances in the game most of which are gander locked limiting you to 2-3 at most. There are only two prostitutes in the entire game counting towards this total of 8, this is very odd as there are brothels and strip clubs everywhere.

To end, its not a bad game but it really needed another year or two of development. Most of the hype and the features that were supposed to be there aren't. Otherwise it's still enjoyable just not what it was hyped up to be.

Character development in the meaning of perks and stuff is a little meh in my opinion. There is a lot of perks about damage and stuff but only small % of them is about unlocking new mechanics because you are so good at something. But certain levels at something unlock more options in the missions which is really nice.
Driving cars and motorcycles is stiff.
Shooting is not bad but could be done much better.
Character movement in my opinion is really stiff and clunky. Some controls are really unintuitive. Some moves are not available. But it is definitely playable.

After all. CDPR always were really good at writing stories and they did this as good as always.
It is their first game like that and it's not a masterpiece. But it was expected.

Do I recommend this game? Definitely. This is a great story, they will fix some bugs and it want be THAT bad. Is it a masterpiece? No.

Its not a 1 or a 2 or even a 4, but neither is it anywhere near the level I think most of us were expecting. This feels like a game that just couldn't deliver what it promised, probably because of too high  ambitions from the developers. And possibly even too high of a workload.

I'm going to keep it short. Graphically this game is a VERY mixed bag. At times it looks borderline CGI, but in other areas it can look unbelievably flat and almost like a ps2 era game with a 'shiny filter'. With that out of the way:

The story starts off strong but then I feel like it gradually just loses pace and starts feeling uninspiring. Mind you, I'm only about 10 hours in and I've done quite a bit of side stuff (here's to hoping it gets better). The combat feels very clunky and more irritating than it feels fun. AI is TERRIBLE most of the time. They'll literally just stand around at times. And they are absolute bullet sponges, borderline frustrating at times. I understand the combat has rpg elements and has to factor in hit points, armor, resistances, etc, but it still feels a bit too much when I have to empty a clip to take down a regular enemy at close range. It just doesn't feel satisfying to take'em down - more like a chore that you just wanna get over and done with.

And this is all not to mention the cavalcade of bugs present even in the latest 1.4 update. It's an absolute buggy mess. Not quite game breaking, but borderline. Over all this just feels like a messy above-average game. Which is a shame because I LOVED the Witcher 3 and I love CDPR. And I really tried to love this game too - but I just think its average after about 10 hours of playtime.

I cannot understand why and how people set the expectations for a game so high that it is even more hyped up than the F**king second cuming of Jesus. It is not the most groundbreaking game ever, it has bugs definitely but we also have to keep in mind where this game is coming from. TW3 was the first BIG game for CDPR, they have done nothing like it before just look at the first two Witcher games and then imagine to completely change your style from medieval fantasy to retro-futuristic. I bet it wasn't the easiest project in their life and IMHO the game could have been longer in development, at least 1-2 years but also imagine the outrage mob going after the devs with death threats and the usual "I am consumer I want now" **** The game is good everything that says anything different plays on console or has either a **** pc or unreal expectations and should evaluate his priorities anew, which I think is the problem here.

I say 8/10 I love this game so far starting with the driving and ending on just farming stupid gang mobs around the city. The story is good and engaging so far and I bet it keeps on coming.
With future patches and updates this game will be a gem and I personally trust in CDPR even though they are corpo and did with their game what everyone does in the game. Sell it..

On that note c ya in Night City and don't try to get your brains fried ;)

EDIT: finished the game now and I am slightly more disappointed than before. 20h in before now 60+ and yeah.... What to say? The ending is rather underwhelming... wherein 2 of them are basically the same endings with slight differences on the way to it...
Also as some others probably realized while playing they completely forgot that there is basically 0 level of customization outside of clothing, which IMHO isn't that bad as some people say.. If a combo looks **** then don't wear it. I didn't cause nobody forced me to and 2 points of armor more? Please got other problems..

Dunno what to say... just came out of all the endings and I feel weird... it is at it's current state a 6/10 max...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m a huge RPG fan and I love the cyberpunk aesthetic and fiction, so this game is right up my alley. I did not keep track of promises made about the game before it came out, so I can’t say I was disappointed by the lack of things CDPR promised. However, I can say after playing about 35 hours that there is a lot of potential for this game that didn’t come to fruition. And holy god, the glitches. There’s constantly floating palm trees in my face, making it hard to drive sometimes. Some items won’t allow me to pick them up. Guns and limbs get stuck in containers or the ground. Random strangers will all be crouched on the sidewalk, covering their heads even though nothing dangerous is happening. It’s just bizarre and messy. I can’t say I’ve ever played a more unpolished game. The environment of Night City is cool and I love the look of the fashion. Weapons look cool as well. The music is... ok. Both the radio stations and the score. Sometimes the score, when in combat, can be too loud and brash. I’m not a prude by any means but why does every ad in the game have to have someone’s ass in it? There is very little branching in the storyline and it makes you feel like your choices and actions are for naught. I hate the endings. Even the “best” one, where V’s alive and it just ends without you knowing if she’ll ever find a cure or die, just felt depressing. The idea of Johnny Silverhand taking over her brain is neat, but I didn’t like the character of Johnny much. He seemed like a washed-up has been. Maybe that was the point, I don’t know. Graphics are really nice, when they function correctly. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. I’m really hoping that since CDPR now supports mods, players will be able to add things into the game that should have been there from the start. Like I would have loved to be able to experience brain dances that were unrelated to solving mysteries, but more like seeing a movie, as they are depicted in the lore. I would also have liked to see food stalls and bars offer more things to do and interactions instead of just an npc you can buy snacks from. Think more like GTA, offering more mini games and opportunities for V to gain relationships with people around her and develop her character more. Expand

But I'm personally having a lot of bugs in my game. I'm playing on pc with a RTX 2080ti, i7-8700k. Typing this on my phone I'm gonna have to come back later and finish this review can't see what I'm typing.

Barely decent game, too much Hyped. Let Rockstar Games make a rework of it.

The good thing about this game is it is visually stunning and has a really good story line.
Now on to the negative sides even if i exclude the bugs and glitches there are lots of issues that you might have already noticed. As an open world game it felt like it had very little to offer other than the main story lines and tons of side quests. (Some sides quests are really fun tho tbh)

What I meant is as an open world game for example when we play games like GTA (as a whole franchise, not just any specific GTA game) there are tons of fun stuff to do other than doing quests, as an open world rpg fan I have spent tons of times exploring Skyrim and Oblivion even after finishing the main quest line. Even not so successful first Watch Dogs game has many good things as an open world game. There are fun arcade mini games, random events, poker games stuff like that. Even CDPR's Witcher 3 had gwent, which was really fun, I have spent hours roaming all over the Witcher 3 map to find new npcs to challenge and collect new cards like many other players. But for Cyberpunk I didn't find anything that than can suck me into the vast open world that they have created, not too many place of interest in this game. Specific pubs and stuff only available for players and there is nothing to do even if you go there, so no point going there other than questing.

NPC AI is non-existent, even oblivion ai looks far better to me compared to the npcs' of night city. At least they would start random conversation among them which was and still is great meme materials. If you attack them some might run but others will attack you back. Even old games like GTA San Andreas npcs' react in some way when you hit their car or themselves, or when you try to rob their car for your quick ride. To me it felt like they put these npcs to just fill the void of night city.

Crafting didn't feel like that alluring to me either. I remember I spent hours collecting all the diagram of armors and weapons in Witcher 3. The whole process was fun and rewarding at the same time. But here I did not feel the need at all and finished the whole game with what ever the drop I got from enemies or missions.

Cyber upgrades are also not that charming either, there are some good upgrades and help you become strong but I started upgrading them pretty late in the game and didn't feel it was mandatory in early game while you can feel how important augmentation in Deus Ex game.

And more than that is there anything unique or new this game offers? This game looked like a blend of many games to me. Games like - Remember Me, GTA, Watch Dogs, Deus Ex, Fallout etc. But I didn't find anything so that I can say, "Oh this is Cyberpunky" when I play other games like I said when I saw those cyber upgrades "Oh this is Deus Exy" or when I saw brainstorming I said "oh this is so Remember Me ish"

Other than bugs and glitches I don't think these problems will go away. Bugs can be fixed and cdpr looked determined to fix them with several hot fixes, which is good. So I will take it as a story telling games, once the story is done the game is done kind of game. Won't count this as a long term playing rpg like Skyrim or anything or just for having fun doing stuff on open world kind of game like Just Cause. This game could have been the best game of decade, it really had the potential but with these many flaws it is just another game, play, enjoy till the main story ends, uninstall.

Only reason I gave it 6 ratings is because of the story. I enjoyed it. The character build up is also good. At least that much is expected from cdpr and they did not ruin it on this part. I do not care about console, so no reason to give it 0 for console gamers' sake.

    Open World: 2/10
    Story: 9/10
    Music: 9/10
Graphics: 7/10 (would've given more if not for those glitches and rendering issues)
    Gameplay: 4/10
    Overall: 6/10

A buggy mess is my main take. The framerate with DLSS off is very unstable. The audio indoors has some weird inside a tin can effect. Toggling crouch works when it wants to. Unable to pick things up off the ground. Unable to remap the F (pick up) key. Characters clipping through walls. We better not talk about the AI. What CDPR failed to realize here is you can create a open world, but when you have these types of bugs which are so jarring, it pulls you right out of it. It reminds you it’s just a video game, and a buggy one at that. Again I say, 8 years.

Performance? Forget about it unless you’re on the latest and greatest. I’d say my rig isn’t a slouch. Certainly not the best, but definitely not a pushover. Settings in this game cripple it. Ray Tracing? Unless you’re ONLY using the base option on medium, get ready for a hit. And as stated above, turning off DLSS at 2160p or 1440p will TANK your FPS to 30 or sub 30. Only after a couple of hours tweaking was I able to maintain 60+ in Night City at almost all times. “Almost” because you’ll still get drops seemingly out of nowhere.

Now I will say this; compared to the console version the PC version looks much closer to what CDPR showed us all those years ago. Unlike its console counterpart, the city is vibrant with NPCs making it feel alive visually. And the art direction really is great if you’re into the whole cyberpunk aesthetic. But the dialogue feels try-hard. Beating you over the head with slang and lingo. It just tries so hard to show you how much of an edgelord it is. If the Hot Topic t-shirt wall was a video game? Well this is it; Cyberpunk 2077.

Combat I mean I guess you could play sneaky? Stealth and hack your way through, but not sure what it really gets you aside from personal enjoyment. So far I see no real need to do it as you can just faceroll enemies with guns and melee. So unless you just want to feel all sneaky and spend way more time during encounters? Not sure the value of playing it without going in guns blazing. Maybe that will change further along, but sure hasn’t here in the first few hours. Combat feels chaotic, clunky, and at times claustrophobic.

I know. I know. How can I give it a review if I’ve not beaten it or spent 1000000 hours on it. And I’m not admitting to having beaten the game yet, but being several hours in up to this point now I can say that Cyberpunk 2077 is feeling like all flash and no substance. At its surface it looks like a world brimming with possibility. But at every turn you peel a layer back and see that it’s paper thin. No depth to the world. And after the initial prettiness of the world wears off? You’re left with what feels like a hallow world devoid of any real substance or depth. Only thing keeping it from one star is the art direction and some of the voice acting which at times was solid, but the lines can be cringy.

CDPR really aimed high with this one and landed well, well short of the mark. A soulless game full of bugs that could’ve used more time in development and stronger direction. Next time they should just stick with what they are good at.

Wait for a sale and/or for SEVERAL patches. And even then, lower your expectations dramatically. This is NOT the future.

CDPR has received death threats and backlash for delaying the game, if they delayed it once more people may start mass cancelling their pre-orders, so of course they had to release it early. Now for people who say this was in development for 8 years, don't be retarded. it was only teased in 2012, it wasn't being developed at that time. it started development after the Witcher 3 and all its DLC finished, at max they developed it only for 4 years. And that's not enough to make a game the size of cyberpunk 2077 (watch dogs took 5 years). Wait for a couple months and let them patch the bugs and fix the AI, please. if it doesn't turn out well you have every right to crap on me. Also for the retards complaining about the ps4 and Xbox one fps, what did you expect you're running games on 2010 hardware max. Its still gonna lag with optimization. Expand

Very poorly optimized. Full of bugs and glitches.
From an objective point of view, this game is unacceptable. Story-wise it is not something new or very good. I can say the story has original bits but it is kind of mediocre.
Cdpr was making crazy marketing about every detail in the game. I can't believe they release the game like that. It is a kind of robbing.

And I'm not even talking about the times when you fall down under the world.

And even though, I do have enthusiasm for this game, I still want to play it (even though it's a disappointment mostly on a technical level) but for now it's just nothing but a whole bunch of bugs of all kinds. But I feel like this game has something to prove and I'm still waiting for all the fixes because I'm actually interested. The atmosphere got me. Actually, if you close your eyes on all the bugs, you can see a decent product, but you can't close your eyes forever.

The general concept of 3 starting options is a bad decision , in the end you play the same game with minnimum dif.
Can add , that this is a new experiance for the devs, for this I give extra 1 point. - Story is mediocre, nothing too interesting that will make you wonder or leave you thinking about it after playing the game
    - RPG elements are very light, it doesnt really feel like an RPG game in the first place, dialogues are very simple and in almost all cases leave no choice how to handle them
    - No way of actually customizing the character, except for visuals, the way your character acts, the choices he makes all feels predetermined, even the way our character speaks is annoying and cannot be changed
    - City looks great but when playing feels like an empty shell, very few activities that are available, basically only vending machines and rarely an NPC that can be talked to, almost all NPCs are not interactable and almost all doors are closed
    - Car physics are abysmal, GTA 3 had better ones
    - AI is pretty bad, enemies often will not take cover but just stand and take hits, esecially the melee ones
    - Combat is mediocre, typical bullet sponge enemies, everything feels calculated and artificial
    - Plethora of bugs and glitches, both visual and sound

    Pros:
    - City looks great, captures cyberpunk aesthethics pretty well
    - Graphics are good (but still not as good as hardware requirements would suggest)
    - I like the item system, theres a lot of them scattered around and you can customize the character looks pretty well with the outfit
    - Voice acting is mostly good (playing English dub)

All in all its a mediocre game, Deus Ex Human Revolution is still a better game in every aspect except for graphics and city scale even though it came out in 2011

So, truth be told, or they lied about the requierments, or the game is not prepare at all. And this for PC, the consoles is even worst. So yeah, is a fun game and a nice idea, and if u have money to buy a 2k+ (probably more than 2k since only 3090 is 1,5k€) is a rly funny and amazing game. If u dont have that kind of computer, w8 to buy another game, or just buy another game but this one is not for u. And who should we blame? probably devs, etc, and players for hype, for rushing with the launch date etc. Delay the game 1 or 2 years would have been even worst for ppl with a NORMAL economy.

Then there are problems with the game i have from a gameplay standpoint:
    -Cars drive like ****
-Minimap is zoomed in way to close so you always miss your turn if you are going a bit faster.
-There are a lot of details in the world but you can hardly interact with any of them.
-You can buy braindances but not watch them?
-I can "talk" to NPCs and they answer some generic line but i never even said anything to them.
    -AI is totally **** braindead.
    -Crime doesn't result in pursuits.
-Missions are structured a bit unlogically at times.
-You can find TONS of weapons but almost no ammunition which means you sometimes have to simply run through enemy fire instead of fighting them, which works pretty well actually but just feels totally stupid.
-Stealth is not really enjoyable and often just doesn't work.
-And a lot more small things that just rub me the wrong way.

But then there are the good things:
-The world is brilliant. It is absoultely huge and offers a lot to explore. It feels vibrant and alive, though not as much as a Rockstar open world.
-Characters are mostly pretty interesting and seem more or less "human"
    -Voiceacting is pretty good
-The game looks awesome, even without RTX

Would i recommend buying this game? Well on PC maybe if the setting is for you. On consoles HELL NO! People report terrible things about it there. Honestly i would wait a few month. Enjoy the game without the bugs.

Is this game game of the year worthy? Nope. Plain and simple. It is just not as great as anticipated. But that's probably the crux if you hype something for 8 **** years. You will never fullfill peoples expectations.

Anyways thats my first thoughts after playing for a while. I will update this and write a more thorough review once i've finished it. Though to be honest the game doesn't quite pull me into it's ban enough unlike say RDR2 which i simply only stopped playing to eat, sleep and work.

I’m playing this game on PC and I’ve got nearly everything on ultra in 4K and also ray tracing is on. This is with DLSS 2.0 turned on. I’ll come back to this.

I’ve got about 25 hours into this game now so it’s a good time to stop and deliver a pre completion verdict.

The good. This game looks good. Like really good. Ray tracing is something nvidia keep banging on about and saying how it’s the next step in gaming etc but in reality there are less than 20 games that support it. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of them and wow it works. The lighting in this game is absolutely sensational. Night city comes into its own at night time for obvious reasons. Wet rain covered streets and neon glow everywhere the eye can see.

The game starts with a fast pulse. Story getting thrown at you to pull you in. Sadly though this is where it starts to go downhill. The tutorials come and I’ve played a lot of games and I can honestly say this is not a good tutorial. It barely explains what you have to do and just expect ms you to kind of know already.

After grinding my way through the 4 main tutorial sections I got back into the game. More action... well. More running around looting stuff. I’ve spent more hours looking at the floor picking stuff up that anything else. The precision needed to pick items up is something that only a highly skilled marksman would have. It’s arduous to say the least. So what do you do with all the loot. Well... most of it is junk. By the time I found a shop to sell and buy stuff I started to realise shops are almost redundant in this game. You will pick up so much stuff you’ll have no need to buy weapons etc unless it’s specific items needed for missions etc.

This brings me into the character appearance. At first I kitted my character out to look cool as anyone would in might city... after a few hours I found myself looking like a clown dragged backwards through a jumble sale. Why? The clothing has armour points attached. So unless you want to die within one shot you’ll have to slap them hot pants and rain coat on. Don’t forget your slippers and straw hat.

The weapons aren’t much better. It’s a constant upgrade or the enemies will be bullet sponges. I found myself pumping 10 rounds into enemies heads before they’d go down and that with weapons I had only just swapped in a short while ago. The shooting is poor too. This isn’t a FPS but there are games with a similar viewpoint like Farcry 5 for example that absolutely wipe the floor with it in terms of shooting ability. I’ve mostly been exploring night city on foot but occasionally it’s nice to drive places a distance away. Well that’s what I thought. The driving is possibly some of the worst I’ve experienced in an open world game. The cars and bikes handle so badly it’s really laughable. You can crash cars at full speed and. I thing happens. You can exit cars at full speed and your character will just be planted stationary in the position you exit the vehicle. This is very poor. The map is almost unusable with thousands of icons littered everywhere. The GPS system in open work games is never good but I found this on to be like a big city taxi driver taking me on the longest route possible only to drop me off at the back entrance with no route in. Now when I worked out how to use the map and select a mission I thought I was gone clear... wrong. Missions are constantly popping up in what feels like a minute by minute basis. I can’t go anywhere without my phone going off alerting me to a nearby mission. There are billions of them and they want you to know that all the time. You can’t move without getting a new one pop up on screen.

The visuals and story are what keep this game going but they are not without problems too. I’m playing on PC and like I mentioned early I’m using DLSS 2.0 to run this game at a higher frame rate. DLSS is known to cause some burring at times so I thought I’d turn it off just to see... wrong. The game dropped to about 5FPS. It was like stop animation. My graphics card sounded like a black hawk. I quickly turned it back on. While the console versions have been absolutely riddled with bugs I’ve gotten away quite well on PC so far. I’ve got Cyberpunk 2077 installed on a hyper fast m.2 ssd so thought I’d have no popping or loading issues but still I have cars popping up in the background and occasionally NPC’s vanish or appear in front of me. Like I said most of my bugs are minor but still annoying considering it’s a game of this magnitude.

This is a game I really really wanted to love but sadly it has fallen way short of my expectations. It feels like a first person RPG looter where looting is the main goal. 6/10

Love the game, been playing 4 days non-stop, but game-breaking bugs decrease my rating by 2.

edit: after finishing the game on day five I have to decrease the score by another point for such a wasted potential: i thought i had so much to do still, buy then it's all over before I even visited like 80% of the city. I did many sidequests, but if you really wanna get your moneys worth, i

The world is cool, the depth of it is nice, the NPCs however make it shallow and dead.

Combat, other than quick-hacking, is boring. Enemies are bullet-sponges, and the cover system is an utter joke. The story is pretty good, though predictable at stages. For $90AUD, this game is completely not worth it. The NPCs do not even hold up to GTAV, a game released 7 years ago. The combat,

For $90AUD, this game is completely not worth it. The NPCs do not even hold up to GTAV, a game released 7 years ago. The combat, which is the biggest part of the game, gets really boring. Which sucks, because after 8 years of development, one would expect the game to be pretty fantastic. However, CDPR have failed to meet expectations.

Sucks, but the fanbase also makes this horrible. Any negative comments on the game can get shut out by a fanboy army stating you're wrong. What can ya do.

Ignoring all of the technical issues and just rating the game I think I'd give it a 6/10. One of the key things I try to factor in when judging a game is when it came out and what it does to push gaming forward. This game brings absolutely nothing new, and doesn't even live up to other games that came before it.

I was sucked into the game, It seemed like the most ambitious game I've ever played, while Cyberpunk 2077 is ambitious its overall underwhelming, driving through the city isn't as enjoyable as you'd think, the cars themselves handle ok, but driving through the city isn't satisfying except for the in game radio stations, the soundtrack is pretty good. Cyberpunk 2077 has everything you'd expect, and that's about it. Nothing really new and interesting. I dragged myself through the ending of the main mission which was left in the air. This game offers multiple play throughs and different life paths, but honestly I don't see myself playing this again. Perhaps with future updates it will be something worth investing more time. I'm happy I experienced this game, it's not all bad, there are some amazing playable cutscenes, the vehicles look awesome to be Frank. The city's design is pretty cool for the most part, but it still felt underwhelming, there are plenty of NPC's, but overall this game feels entirely half baked. The writing is decent, but the overall story was interesting at first but my story's conclusion was lame and left in the air. Dialogue isn't as in depth as I hoped, with few dialogue options that don't actually affect the plot, but offer a bit more lore or information. Cyberpunks main missions are by far the best part of the game, as underwhelming and fragmented the story is, there are some cool missions that really suck you in, only to be let down by the rest of the game. Side missions are pretty generic, find stuff, kill people. There is plenty of clutter in Night City to waste your time. Overall it's well polished, but a turd nonetheless. Expand

Main story is a little short. But side quests are amazing. Beside, have so many bugs in the game. So many that will make your playing experience become so bad. But i think CPR will fix it in the future

First off, i'm loving the story, and visually the game is stunning visually, literal eye candy if you've got the pc that can power it...

For me, i think the biggest letdown is the amount of customisation and clothes / armour options... for a game set in a world where style and cool are the most important things, the fact there's only just over 70 distinct items of clothes for the player

Character customisation is pathetically limited... i've seen free to play games that have more thought about the character put into it than this does sadly. The 'cyberwear' you get to chose in character creation is 14 transparent images that go over your face and basically act like tattoos.

They could have done something truly amazing with cybernetic arms, legs, and really brought it to a whole new level... but it all got completely ignored and replaced with a 'cookie cutter' creation system that's not even as in depth as 90% of free to play MMORPG's out there online

The storyline is great, the voice acting is amazing, and the design of the city and layout are truly something fresh and new... it's just the RPG side of it that is seriously being let down... treat it as a standard action / FPS game with story and you're fine...

If you're expecting an actual RPG like the game was advertised as, with customisation and a character you can truly make your own and grow with, you're going to be sadly disappointed.

Overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.

RTX270S - i59700k --- Graphically - good, not amazing. The detail of the world - amazing. The NPCs - not good. Car control, meh. FPS - good, but controls are meh. World realism - meh, blame NPCs, look, movement and random generation. Weapons, meh ... I just thought it would be cooler. Bugs - they are there. Some game disturbing

Its an amazing accomplishment, and I think it pushes the idea of game design... there are so many underappreciated details to this game... but at the end I just feel like it could be more.

I wanted this to be so much better than what it is. I think the hype, and the idea of what it could potentially have been were too high. It almost feels like a game that would have been amazing in 2014. As an open world comparison GTAV actually does a better job in creating a realistic feel.

I never felt compelled to write a review, but this game just deserved it.

The only thing truly "next-gen" about Cyberpunk 2077 are the visuals. The city looks absolutely incredible. Cyberpunk is the next Crysis in that it will be the ultimate litmus test for gaming PC builds.
Unfortunately, the game isn't very fun. The combat is floaty and lacks the crispiness demonstrated by modern loot/shooters like destiny and borderlands. Driving is OK. Hacking and stealth

Hacking and stealth mechanics are incredibly boring and uninspired. The NPC AI is so ridiculously terrible that it completely breaks immersion w/ Night City. Most NPCs are just statues, molded in place going through routine motions.

This was pulled from my steam review which I edited a bit for professionalism and such.
    So here goes;

The perk system is cool and this is where it becomes apparent that the game is truly TRYING to be an RPG, one of it's upsides for sure. In fact certain mechanics are locked behind these perks which is a good idea for the purposes of really making you choose your play style.

Level-gating is kinda ehhhh, I don't mind skill checks if they serve a purpose however bullet sponge enemies are not so in for good reason. It does somewhat make sense in the context of cyberpunks with reinforced skin/armor etc. But yeah this needs a revisit.
Crafting system and loot system is kinda your typical looter shooter, keep stuff, throw it away once you get something better, maybe utilize the pretty generic crafting system. This isn't a huge problem so to speak but doesn't evolve much beyond what we have seen before on a pretty basic loot/craft system mechanic.

The traffic and pedestrians in this game is just embarrassing. Vehicles and people will change literally if if you do a 180 spin. People and vehicles spawn in often right within eyesight. They have some weird fake draw distance thing going on where you'll often see cars in the distance but not in front of you. This is especially cringe when you are in the badlands.

Not much in the way of tutorials which I don't personally mind but some people might initially be a little confused on their first steps outside of the main plot/story.
Ahhh yeah the branching story line? A joke, things coalesce pretty quickly. Not say it's not a good story, just not what was promised. The corpo role specifically is a bit of a joke since you don't actually do much for corpos, introducing V as former corpo for that role could hand-wave that I suppose. I fully went into this hoping I'd be able to do some shady **** but I kinda realized something was up closer to launch when it was apparent your story was closely connected to the same characters, of which many are interesting and well written.

The voice acting is top notch. There are however A LOT of improper audio cues that can take you the hell out of it pretty quick, while the story is great and all I literally can't go 5 damn minutes without seeing glitches, clipping, or some immersion breaking nonsense.

The gun-play is fun and the guns themselves feel proper and powerful. You can meta around a bit if you feel so inclined, but unless you turn the difficulty up you'll probably mow through stuff anyways

I also took notice on the menu/ui for crafting that the bottom middle circuit part that corresponds with skills normally greys when you hover over it. Not a huge deal but this is one of the things that make you go, why? What is this? Placeholder for something else (you shouldn't put these front and center if it is the case)? A skill that didn't get worked into the game? Something broken? Cut content (most likely)?

The graphics performance is just atrocious compared to some of the stuff I've played recently. Pop in, cars that transform when you do a 360, hell sometimes they'll change right before your eyes. Often times you can see the spawn in points for pedestrians and cars. It looks really really bad. Compared that to say RD2 you look off into the distance and see something, chances are it'll still be there when you arrive.

What are some good things? Well the game does look good when turned up and I envy people who are people to play this with RTX. The story is solid and character building is what you would expect of CDPR. The soundtrack is also an absolute banger so huge props on that.

It doesn't take anymore than a simple google search to see that CDPR is on record, and not through some word of mouf bs, I'm talking literally video interviews etc. discussing mechanics and such that would in the game. There is an abundant record of evidence that CD did not deliver with their promises on this game. It also clear they lied about the state of last gen, which will naturally hold up progress on addressing the above issues and yes for us PC players too. In addition to this, while you can generally actually play the game, your experience will be riddled with bugs, glitches, performance issues and problems that will effect your experience. Bold statement but this is easily top 5 botched launches this decade. If you told me this was the same devs as the Witcher 3 I would've declared you a damned liar.

    TLDR;
good story, world, soundtrack, graphics, nailing the basics, big reductions for failure to implement promised features, non stop bugs, poor performance, and an extremely deceitful marketing campaign

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
