Although Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have an interesting story with interesting characters, I cannot recommend this game in its current state due to poor PC optimization. I have been playing this game on what would be considered a "high-end" gaming desktop with the following specs:

    i7-8700K CPU
    RTX 2080 Super
    32 GM RAM

Even with these components, I am struggling to maintain a framerate of above 60fps consistently, even with Nvidia DLSS enabled in the settings. I have tried multiple remedies for this issue, from completely lowering the in-game settings, to messing around with the Nvidia Control Panel settings, to following guides online to manually edit config files.

I am sure that with time and updates from CDPR, this will become a great game with decent performance, but having bought it on day one, I am extremely disappointed with this game. It is frustrating that many "Triple A" games that release these days are shipped with a "Release now, fix it later" mentality.

Average game, pretty but dead city. Even now that the major bugs have been ironed out, it is still such a dull immersive sim.
I’m glad if players enjoy it, but feeling like I’m in a world is super key to me. I want to feel like I’m in a world, a living breathing world, not an anomaly wondering if npc’s will actually react to things happening and seeing how often they’ll repeat the same

The game is great, the combat, the voice acting and also the ending of every lifestyle you pick as a player. This open world rpg game is very disappointing lot's of invisible walls, i have to wwit for every 20 seconds just to fully rendered the area where i just got. Gonna rate this a 5 becaise of the poorly graphicd in consoles, cd projekt red do better on the release. Expand

PS4 Pro So, there is a terrific game in here, but not on a PS4 or a Pro. And, by all accounts, not on the XBox One or mid range PCs either. On the Pro, the awful technical issues reported on the base PS4 aren’t as bad, but it isn’t good, either. Forget it being buggy, which it is, the world feels empty and lacking in texture and flavour. To make the game work they’ve depopulated Night City to the point that it’s an empty sandbox. It’s a fantastic city, beautifully designed. But without the horsepower to do it justice, the PS4 version feels hollow. All the graphical flourishes that bring the world alive? Forget it. It looks like a game from the early 2000s on a last gen console. The eye popping visuals are limited to the top 5% of PC spec. Everyone else gets “functional” It’s a shame as the CDPR magic is here, their strengths are all on display, but they should have just bitten the bullet and made this a PC/PS5/XBox X title. I will say, though, that this is a role playing game in name only. Apart from a quite involved skill tree, there aren’t the world changing decision trees in this game. Some of the dialogue options have one choice. What’s the point of presenting me with a single choice dialogue tree? Do they think I will miss pressing a button every couple of minutes? And there is a mission that’s basically a platform level. If I wanted a platform game I would buy an old Sega Megadrive and plug Sonic the Hedgehog in. The old hardware can’t cut it and they knew it, why else did they withhold console code from the reviewers? The way to play this is either on a high end PC or wait for the next gen console versions. CDPR should take a reputation hit for this. They’ve released a game onto a format that can’t do it justice and tried to conceal the shortcomings for short term profit. Any claims to being customer-centric die here. Expand

The game has tons of bugs sure, but that isn't the worst problem.
The worst problem is how this game was being touted as the next generation of open world games, and a new level of immersion.
The whole game world feels dead, pedestrians and traffic around the city have no awareness and does not react properly to what happens around them, as if there is no NPC AI at all.
GTA San Andreas had more advanced NPC's than this.

Everything in this game is an illusion.

You get the illusion of traffic being continuous, but really there is a circle around you and the traffic just dissappears and then ther are far away traffic that's out of place after that. (https://youtu.be/0ZQokhkhHrQ)
You get the illusion of choice, but most times the choices does no matter at all.
You get the Illusion of a living world around you if you never look at it or try to venture into it.

The story is a solid 6/10 though.

There just isn't anything to interact with in this world apart from the quests and vendors, and those quests are super repetative.
Should not have been an open world game.

The marketing is misleading and it's ironic that they made corpos the bad guys, yet here we are with bought out reviewers and misleading advertisement. It's a disgrace really.

I played the Witcher 3, and that game had passably fun and clean combat and generally serviceable gameplay that at the very least did not distract from how much I loved, loved, loved the story and writing and etc. But this game commits the single cardinal sin that I just can't bear: the gameplay is **** enough that I don't care able the story. This is sincerely and genuinely the worst melee combat I can recall having played. I think TES4: Oblivion had better swordplay than this. And sure, you might say, "well it's really a shooter," and yeah maybe but also they literally give you a katana from the start and mantis blades are like the most iconic weapon in the game so they seem pretty explicitly to be saying, "hey you can melee if you want " but you can't, or at least I can't. The only feedback that you've really hit an enemy is a pathetically ugly splash of blood effect. Trying to power attack is just awkwardly lurching around the battlefield only ever feeling like your character is maybe 50% under your actual control. why is it so **** hard to tell whether I've been hit? Why does it feel like the game isn't totally certain where my character is so all my movements feel like I'm spongily drifting through jello, only maybe partially contacting the physical objects around me? Attempting to dodge is an exercise in questioning your sanity and whether your fingers ever really touched the keyboard at all as the game refuses to give you any feedback on anything you try to do. This is a catastrophically monumental step backwards from literally CDPR's previous game. I mean, that game is literally a sword-based game and feels perhaps a hundred times better than this. And like I said, even among games with first person combat this is bad. Oblivion and Skyrim are not praised for the depth and fidelity of their combat, rightly so. But even they make this game feel...I mean frankly? Amateurish. It feels like CDPR focused all their energy exclusively on polishing the writing and visuals and animations and tuning the engine to 11 and then outsourced the controls and main character work to a bunch of college students they paid in juul pods. The gameworld is undeniably gorgeous, the character writing felt pretty good while I could endure the gameplay, some of the animation and gesture work on the characters is downright awe-inspiring and makes you feel like you're looking at a real person. I haven't even really had any bug issues! But the way your character interfaces with that brilliant beautiful stunning world feels like drunkenly driving a car from the passenger seat, they simply made the actual game part of the game too awkward and uncomfortable and frankly unpleasant for me to be willing to fight through it to get to what they did so amazingly. There's a lot to be impressed with if you fight through the **** but I don't have the time and energy to be willing to fight. Expand

There is no customization, there is no interaction, there is no minimum layer of depth in how you interact with the city, which should be the protagonist of any open world game.Another problem is the AI, which is mediocre at best, and non-existent at most.To that we must add the dozens of promises that never appear in the game.Even as an RPG the game makes outdated decisions in its design, which is a contradiction to what it's trying to tell.In the end we have a game that graphically looks like the future, but plays like something from 15 years ago. It's a mediocre game, and not even removing all the bugs will solve that. When it finally released i stayed up all night to download it and play it. Ive played it more or less non-stop since release now and i just finished the main story and i actually dont really think the game was THAT good. I understand that its hard to live up to The Witcher which was a great game, and i think all of you people overhyping it made it really hard to not get overly excited for it for no reason. The game was good dont get me wrong but i found it really tedious. Looting was wierd and didnt sit with me well. Guns didnt have any real personality or interesting perks. Animations in dialogues was stiff and unatural. Some sound and voice bugs here and there but i can live with that. VERY annoying vehicle handling, was not fun driving at all. Bad AI. Barely anything to do in the open world so i just stuck to the main story. Map was not really that impressive. So i think the game was a little bit of a let down, especially at the end, very unsatisfied with the ending. Ill just wanted to give my honest opinion about the game. I was afraid that this would happen after all the unfounded praise this game got from people that just spammed "GIVE CDPR MONEY THEY DESERVE IT!. This game is on the whole, brilliant. The story, the delivery, the mechanics, the gameplay, the everything, anything, was beyond expectation. Well, at least that was the case until I saw dicks poking out of V's pants.

Overall, I was slightly disappointed about how a game that was developed after 8 years and multiple delays came out so unfinished and so short of my expectation that even Jesus christ can't help with this. Bugs aside (which is a **** obviously, but this is the norm for a Day One experience), there are so many problems with the game that are just hard to like it over the good stuff, including, but not limited to:
+ There are barely any interaction or lives in the supposedly crowded and "vivid" Night City. NPCs are a lot, but there are little that can be done with them, and some part of the city are just illogically there even after weeks of in-game time (for example, the cop asking 2 dudes in front of V's apartment, still there before the prologue and after it, wtf?).

    + The combat system is dry, with barely any mods or customization that you can do with them, and especially with melee combat, it just sucks;

    + the driving system is too sensitive and weird for keyboard users;

    + the shopping system is lacking and too straightforward, no interaction whatsoever with the seller, and there are not many variety of stores at all;

    + there's no dedicated walk button;

    + activities on the street are repetitive and lack creativity and interactivity (most of the times just kill a group of enemies, go around collecting "evidence" and that's it);

    + interaction with normal NPCs are just receiving insults from them when pressing F;

    + the clothing system is horrendously created, with military grade pants having lower armor than some **** legging and so forth, and if you just can't balance fashion with effectiveness, since, like I said, horrendously created;

+ the player customization is just, again, lacking, but I guess it's better than most game (also, you can't change your appearance after the initial setup).

And the list goes on. And I haven't even touched bugs yet.

On the bright side, the story so far for me brilliant, with great delivery and great start (prologue takes 9 hours, which makes me feel even more excited going deeper into the story). Nonetheless, it's sad to see such a brilliant story has to pile in with a bunch of unfinished system and craps that are bundled together for shipping. However, I am positive that in the future CDPR will be able to fix all of this game's problems, add more contents and make this game great, like how I had perceived in the past years of waiting. But for now, a 5 is a generous score for this CP77 at it stands now.

Another brilliant thing is the sound, the dubbing is 10, the music, the setting, in general all the audio is very successful.

... And so far the good.

The game's main playable mechanics are pretty mediocre. Gunplay is basic, basic, even though they try to adorn it with some technical details that you end up not using like bouncing bullets or smart bullets, because basically they are not needed, the combat feels like any standard game in the industry. last decade. It has no personality. And the worst thing is the melee, you do not feel the contact, you just hit the button 3 times to do the combo, rest and repeat, flat animations, no blood, no reactions to the blows, nothing. And these technologies have been around for years.

Driving is disastrous, really, it does not make sense, there is no sense of speed, there is no sense of control of the vehicle, collisions are a joke and you end up avoiding accidents so as not to feel embarrassed, and turns, it seems that you rally when you are not even at 30 km / h. To summarize, the driving physics are non-existent, it was enough to copy already created models like the GTA, without giving it a further twist. I think they've had plenty of time.

Walking through the city becomes tedious, gangs everywhere that if you shoot first, a police will join them as allies spawned out of nowhere. Really, they appear on your face all of a sudden. If you also run over someone, or kill someone in absolute stealth, a crime will be reported automatically and the police will appear on your back out of nowhere.

And artificial intelligence, well, it doesn't exist directly. It has a very basic pattern, far behind current standards, but it is also downright stupid. She charges you head-on while you shoot her, she doesn't use the covers logically, she doesn't try to surround you, nothing. . And they are things that are already done in many games. They also forget that you have killed a partner of theirs within 5 seconds.

Character customization is also very, very basic, choose between X faces, X hairstyles, colors and some piercing, all pre-designed and very much seen. So much trouble with the immersion that they have not pampered this section, and also then you can not even see your character unless you go on a motorcycle or give him to see you in a mirror, because be careful, your character is not reflected or in crystals or anything, only when you see yourself in a mirror (?)

Anyway, one starts to think that they have invested so many years of development, to release a game that does not innovate in anything, that does not improve, or even equals, games of the past generation in many of its core mechanics . A game that is only saved by its setting and its narrative.

PS: The choices you make end up being practically irrelevant, as well as the selection of your character's background.

Poor performance aside, the game mechanics and systems are half baked across the board. It has the heart of a good game but it feels like a lot of the actual implementation is just a placeholder.

So much food stands but you can't even buy food or play arcades machines. The AI is the one the worst things in this game, their reaction from crime is atrocious and do nothing a normal person would do. Life choices don't mean nothing. After the prologue scene at the beginning, everything remains the same throughout the game. Crafting? This was added just to say they have more features.

Only 4 romance options 1 male and female for both genders. Only 2 prostitutes to interact with in the ENTIRE city.

You can't cut your hair because for some reason there's no barber in the entire map.

Don't even start with the insufferable amount of useless looting you'll have to do. There's no picking up everything button.

Aiming require a bit of changes in the settings to feel right. The UI at the beginning was tedious to look at. The screen was almost covered.

I played this on PC as well, so don't blame people that they need to get a new gen console or a PC.

Completely disappointing for a game we all waited for 7-8 years. We were lied to what CDPR marketed the game as the, "New generation of open world games".

Rockstar remains the king of Open World.

If you want the game to run better, I heard downloading the NVIDIA drivers makes it perform better. Also there should be a new patch that was released.

The map is massive and the city looks incredible. The graphics aren't the worst but isn't anything special. The driving is alright, the music is the best part. Voice acting is great but some dialogue are cringe.

This game needs few or several months of patching to do. But even then, the game feels like a soulless experience ruined by the limited interactivity and bugs in the game.

But it does not work for a city filled with what should be interactable people, locations, activities, etc.

The lack of compelling AI, likable characters in a shallow story with little player impact, and a hollow, open-world make this a bit bizarre. Melee combat has no weight. Gunplay is just at the bar of playable. The UI, keybinds, etcetera are a total mess. And the RPG elements might as well not exist—the whole game reeks of something that needed another year or two. It has some nice graphics if you have a beefy rig.

But even then, much of the gloss and glimmer appears like tacky neon-lit plastic. It's disappointing. Still, it's a mostly playable game (I have had around 4 crashes across 20 hours, one of which forcibly shut down my machine, which for having an i9 / 2080 RTX is somewhat crazy).

I would not recommend it in its current state as much more than that. A barely playable amalgam of hopes and dreams without the punch of a great story or flare of a dynamic, thrilling cyberpunk world. What good it has is squandered by hollow spectacle without much depth.

The combat is less complex than witcher but more fast paced and has much more variety. All of the gun types feel very different and experimenting with them can be enjoyable on its own. This is not a shooter and is more similar to the Fallout games than Call of Duty. If you go into this expecting a shooter, you will be disappointed. The combat is satisfying as the perks and mods along make a noticeable impact, and you can feel some progression going on. Driving feels a lot like riding Roach, but less "on rails." This is NOT GTA, and it's not supposed to be. Driving is merely the primary way you get from place to place, just as Roach was the primary way you moved around in witcher. The story and missions have so far been great, and all of the sidequests have little stories to them, similar to The Witcher 3. Overall, if you enjoyed the witcher 3 and aren't expecting call of duty or GTA, you will probably enjoy this game, but stay away from the salty ass subreddit for a while until all the whiners go away (or check out /r/lowsodiumcyberpunk instead)

There are some obvious bugs but I haven't encountered anything gamebreaking. I've soft locked myself twice but always had a recent autosave to fall back on. Given CDPRs reputation and history, I expect they'll fix all of the issues along with adding more content in the future. If I could rate this out of 10 I'd give it a 9. This is closer to a 5 than a 4 to me, so I'm giving it a 5 here.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's very hard for me to admit this because I love this game and have played it for ~20 hours so far, but it is painfully average. No, I'm not just talking about the technical issues (bugs, glitches etc), those can be fixed in time and can be forgiven by the majority of players if the game is good. I'm talking about the core RP elements that are nonexistent and/or missing, some of which should've been in the game but were clearly taken out because of its current state.

Personally, I think CDPR shot themselves in the foot when they decided to go 1st-person view. Because in 1st-person the focus is heavy on animations and immersion, many of which are lacking in this game. I'd guess another year of development would turn this game into the RPG we were promised, but that's just an opinion. Furthermore, I have full faith in CDPR to turn this into a masterpiece, long as they don't give up on it.

So, what do I mean by nonexistent/missing core RP elements? well let's go through a list I compiled using sources from reddit threads. All credit goes to reddit. Also, I'm excluding the scripted RP elements, such as story mission elements.

    Quality of Life:
    - Missing key remapping for many elements.
    - Missing key separation for many elements, such as dash, crouch and skip dialogue.
    - Missing the ability to respec attributes, not just perks.
    - Missing loot by area and autoloot features.
    - Missing 'stash all' key.
    - Missing 'tabs' in character creation window, currently all options are ordered as a list.

    Immersion:
    - Missing body slider customization, such as height, weight and muscle mass.
    - Missing animations for eating, drinking, picking up items, installing cybernetics (limbs and chips), opening doors/windows/boxes, and also missing many interactive items such as chairs, benches, toilets, gym equipment, showers, smartphones, taxis, dumpsters, dancing floors, arcades and gaming tables. You might consider those redundant, but for a 1st-person perspective they can help a lot to immerse you in the character you're playing.
    - Missing vehicle and/or apartment customization.
    - Missing cosmetic slots and/or transmog.
    - Missing garages and/or parking lots.
    - The main character, V, has a lackluster personality and it's very hard to construct a meaningful one. As a player you get to make choices that affect the ending, but as V you have no persona.
    - Missing appearance shops, such as barbershops, tattoo parlors and plastic surgeons.
    - Very few character reflection elements in game, such as mirrors here and there.
    - Missing preview option for wardrobe and weapon purchases.

    Gameplay
    - I haven't looked into this, but apparently you can only own 1 apartment? so I guess, missing variety and quantity of apartments that you, V, should be able to buy and own. Feel free to correct me on this.
    - Npcs and crowds have almost no reaction and awareness to the world, except cussing at you or running away. Furthermore, there are very few interactive npcs outside of missions and side quests.
    - A huge lack of non-action, story oriented quests that go deep into the themes of the Cyberpunk dystopia.
    - Perk trees are, for the most part, redundant. They don't introduce game-changing features, instead most of them are just numerical improvements to combat.
    - There is a short amount of dynamic events and triggers in the game world, most of which are also not varied.
    - There is no ownership of items, besides the items that you, V, own. You can steal everything without any issues. Furthermore, there is no prison and/or crime system to complement that.
    - The 'wanted system' is underdeveloped, NCPD spawns out of thin air to attack you when you are wanted and disappears after.
    - Current sets of cybernetics lack variety that can alter the gameplay, except for the limb weapons most cybernetics are numerical improvements.
    - The lifepaths are brief and irrelevant. They have little impact other than some dialogue choices and your V is the same character regardless of chosen lifepath.
    - The loot system is overdone and uninteresting, you can find somewhat better items almost everywhere and you can't form an attachment to your weapons and fashion choices.
    - The stealth system often forces you to commit to frontal assault, instead of sneaking your way through.
    - The 'verticality' is quite lacking, most buildings are closed and there are few options to flank your enemies from different directions using verticality.
    - Train infrastructure is visible, yet there are no trains that I've come across. Correct me on this if you have.

That's it for now, feel free to add your own. I hope this review gives you an idea of the game and hopefully we'll see some changes from CDPR in 2021.

Beneath all this is potentially an incredible gaming experience. It is hard to see through the above issues I've mentioned. I experienced a progression breaking bug early on where an object didn't render during dialogue and I could not progress the conversation, had to reload from an earlier save to continue. The game world is also very sparsely populated in comparison to earlier looks at the game and because of this the world just isn't believable.

I expect it's a better experience on higher end systems but I personally feel that CDPR should have cancelled the Xbox One and PS4 versions out right. The 7 year old hardware just can't hack it.

Either wait a few months for a lot of fixes or get the PC/ next gen versions

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Currently playing it using my PC so my frame rate is around 40 - 50 fps depending on the location. But the difference in the frame rate is quite huge and will definitely impact the gameplay. Good thing tho, I never experienced any crashes during my play time. I tried to explore every streets and buildings that can be interacted with. I am extremely excited to pre order the game and when it worked in my PC, I played the game for 28 hours which made me finish only the prologue. I grind my way to Night City just to see all its glory and experience what is it like to live on a cyberpunk world. However, considering the amount of bugs and glitches that I have experienced, I then realized that this game is not really at its best right now. I understand that glitches can be fixed but what disappoints me most is the actual gameplay such as cops are instantly spawning beside the player, broken crime system and many more. Story wise, it doesn't really worth investing since the game narrative is kinda bland. It's kinda hard to connect to a protagonist in a 1st person perspective. I wanted to see V's reaction and facial expression instead of just choices I selected that he voiced out . Inability of remapping map, inventory, character keys. No mouse sensitivity slider for menus... cursor moves so damn slow, the game for whatever reason overrides windows setting, and it cannot be changed anywhere. I can't even unequip clothes my character wears cause the button assigned is not registered by the game (in every other game it works fine), and I can't remap the damn button!! cause there is NO option for this at all. Buttons that can be remapped just reset on their previous value at a random time during gameplay... you do not even have to reload save for a button like crouch randomly reassign to hold instead of toggle. Steam version is an afterthought at best..in another words it's a console game.
Performance is horrible. I play on i7 4790, RTX 2080s, 16Gb RAM, installed on SSD... it is exactly recommended hardware for 4k ultra... for 30 fps. If you want more, which of course you would, DLSS is the only option to get you closer to 60, cause none of the setting really affect performance. There are occasional frame drops to 12!!!! fps when entering a main quest conversation. DLSS is must have here, otherwise it's pretty much 30 and less frames no matter the settings. Indoors I have 55 - 60 most of the time, outdoors 35 – 55 (It just jumps all over, and if you save and reload it sticks to 60 for like a minute, and after that drops into fluctuation again) It does not matter what setting I use 720p or 4k, everything low/off or ultra. The only setting that matters is Raytracing which I honestly did not see any effect of when turned on.
As of the game itself, in fairness I only spent about 20 hours, so take it with a grain of salt, but it feels bland (Insert Gordon Ramsy meme).
It looks gorgeous, and gunplay is fun for some time... but I am already kinda bored with it, though you can play the game in various ways, do not expect it to be like Deus Ex with all its take different routes etc. You can chose how to approach some main quests, but it felt that the choice does not matter at all, I refused the deal with a certain character, yet after I completed the mission this character appeared out of nowhere and acted like we had a deal.
Insanely boring side quests. Ubisoft like. It's embarrassingly bad. Do not expect anything near as good as Witcher 3. Someone gives you a mission, you go and kill a guy... no story, nothing, characters in these missions are all just npcs to kill, there is no connection between any side quest, or their characters like it was in Witcher 3. New side quest givers just call you on the phone, it is not explained of how do they know you. Just imagine if some guy called you and said – hey you don’t know me and I want you to do an illegal job for me..wtf??!! So do not expect there to be standing npc questgivers, it’s all Fallout 76 style.
Characters in the main story are boring. Main character is boring, I do not feel any interest in the character as I felt with Geralt. It is a massive step back from Witcher 3. Although I still feel compelled to play it just because of how damn good it looks, and the atmosphere of the world... but there is nothing else behind it for me... Although I really like just to walk around the town, there is no reason to do it, I just do not feel the same excitement and intrigue as I had with W3. Loot is complete ****
No third person view... ARE YOU F**** SERIOUS???!!! considering you can see your character on a bike from 3rd perspective, technical aspect is already there, you just need to expand it to gameplay, it looks so damn better in 3rd person... it is so easy to add it as an option.. just for out of combat when I explore!!! Such a missed opportunity… numerous times I’ve been catching myself wanting to switch to 3rd person because of how much sense it would make, alas no matter how quick and easy this mode can be implemented, CDPR refuses to add this highly requested feature that will enhance the game, for the reasons unknown.
You cannot change your appearance after you created the character... yeah, another thing is character creation is so damn simple... you can't even chose hair color that you want, only from presets... why the hell can't use rgb value??? Options are extremely limited, very hard to make an attractive female, majority of choices are mixed with male protagonist.
To sum up this game in its current state - it is a disappointment. Although gorgeous world is compelling me to just walk around, I am not really interested in anything else there, so I guess that interest is going to wind down pretty quickly. Hopefully cdpr is gonna fix buggy side of the game, performance, and luckily add an optional 3rd person mode in at least some form.

Graphics is really good, but lack of optimisation forces even high-end PC to chug.
Leveling system feels superficial and aside from few handy perks and stats is unnecessary on any difficulty below "very high".
Gunplay is "OK" at best. Can't really describe it, but "the feeling" of guns is mediocre.
Enemies are bullet sponges. Not a fan of such design.
AI is garbage outside of battle.
Hacking is mostly useless. Disable cams, steal some cash, maybe use other default abilities 10 or 15 times throughout the game.

Most of the people rate the game so high because there are not that many AAA releases this year + hype + enormous expectations.

I mean, I'm not that big of a fan of Witcher 3, but it's better than CB 2077 in every aspect except graphics (mods can fix that).

So 5/10 right now, 7/10 when and IF they fix problems listed above and release DLCs.

    - Awesomely made huge city and game world with a big focus on details.
    - Yet, only two missions were quite entertaining and had a really good story and ideas. The main story arc is pleasant and works well, but the majority of story goes to side missions whose are, sadly, really bad.
    - Driving through various weather and day cycles in the dystopian city is really enjoyable, but from that point, it seems like a showcase game.
    - Character creation is good and both bad at the same time. There is a huge amount of unnecessary things, but while you can't have purple hair or a smaller tattoo, for example, because all of it is taken to the extreme. But hey, you can edit your genitals, even though you won't be able to see it, so that's cool... right?
    - Huge attribute and skill tree with a lot of different actions to unlock.

    Cons:
    - The story differs for each faction only for the first 30 minutes of intro, then it gets exactly the same for all the factions.
    - Horrible AI for all NPCs. Their responses to your actions are honestly worse than in GTA San Andreas (they don't even drive away when you point a gun at them, just casually continue what they've been doing, which is the smallest problem - the police NPCs in missions gets stuck in a loop or their behaviour resets and keeps acting like you didn't help them and starts shooting at you.)
    - After a while, the basic gameplay gets really boring, most of the missions turns into the repeatable task of ''kill this and talk to this'' and so the city full of zombie NPCs loses its glorious shine.
    - Stealth gameplay doesn't work that well not only due the NPCs, so you mostly end up just rushing in the room with weapons ready, which is kinda disappointing.

Conclusion: The thing that got us hyped was all about the 30-minute intros. After that, it's not worth playing for now, at least in my opinion. Will wait for updates and give it another try in a month or so.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game play is pretty good for the most part. Combats good. There are glitches here and there but over all that's good.
The story has lots of issues. You would think after Mass Effect 3 AAA companies would have learned not to make game endings that invalidate everything the player has done with a "You lose. Good day sir." In every ending your character dies or finds out he will die. The second half of the game has been for nothing. Then to break immersion they put you back in the game right before the final mission. On replay I've discovered you cannot reject the ontial quest or kill the fixer who sets you up for ultimate disaster. You can even leave the area of the city you are in without accepting what ultimately becomes a suicide mission. Choices don't matter in this game. It's a linear suicide rpg.

The character archs feel very rushed, especially in the first portion of the game and new quests are just dumped on you with little to no motivation for them outside of “go here shoot these guys make money.” A lot of it just doesn’t carry the emotional weight The Witcher 3 did. It's hard to tell who is to blame for this game being in the state that it is, I see a lot of people blaming executives and I tend to believe that. Lets get one thing clear, the bugs on console are astounding; not so much on pc but there are still some.

The glaring problem with this game is the lack of, well, an actual game. Story wise the game is acceptable, there are a lot of characters in this game you'll enjoy and who's voice actors did an exceptional job. Keanu does a decent enough job portraying Johnny Silverhand, in some ways the sections where you play as him are some of the best. Gameplay is easily described as a looter shooter rather than what the game was originally promised as, which was an RPG. Virtually all RPG elements have been stripped from this game leaving a husk of what was clearly once meant to be a 10/10 game.

This game is average at best, and it's depressing to think about how much time this was in development and in public eye. It portrays where the gaming industry is and where it's headed, so many people preordered this game on goodwill and that goodwill has been destroyed in an instant. I'd go as far as to say that this doesn't even feel like a CDPR game at all, it's nowhere close to how Witcher 3 was. Though it does share some of the same quirks as Witcher in the sense of the combat being repetitive. The AI (when there is some) is incredibly easy to get around and exploit, sometimes even just standing on a box will prevent the AI from doing anything to you. You've probably all seen the driving AI and it's terrible, all of the cars are on rails and will not change lanes to avoid anything in the road. They don't honk either, the AI don't seem to care about something in the middle of the road.

Overall, the game is disappointing, this was meant to be the game of the year and to set a new standard for open world games. It didn't, all it did was remind me of how good Red Dead Redemption 2's world is. Night City, while looking absolutely fantastic; is so lifeless, soulless and empty.

Edit: Game is a 5, not a 6. This game is so forgettable, I stopped playing for a few weeks and I've already forgot just about everything in the story. The story is honestly so throwaway and doesn't leave any impact on the player whatsoever. Unironically just don't buy this game, it's sh*t.

Before the game came out many reviewers claimed that the main story was only a small part of the game and that the side quests will be where the real meat of the game is. But, after beating the game and playing through the main endings as well as completing all the non-gig side quests (other than finding all the graffiti) I can say that this is 100% false.

Before the game came out many reviewers claimed that the main story was only a small part of the game and that the side quests will be where the real meat of the game is. But, after beating the game and playing through the main endings as well as completing all the non-gig side quests (other than finding all the graffiti) I can say that this is 100% false.

Completing all the side quests takes about the same amount of time as the main story. However, many of them are glorified gigs. And, the one's that do have a story do not rival the main story in any way. If you expected side quests similar to Fallout or Elder Scrolls then prepare to be let down.

There are a number "main" side quests that revolve around: Terry (Johnny's band member), Judy, and Panam. These are longer than all the others since they are the start to quest chains. But the chains are short for what they are. Then, there are 3-4 side quest chains with only 2-3 parts. And, the rest of the side quests are one-off quests that can take anywhere from literally only 1 minute to 20 minutes.

The side quests have slightly more choice than the main quest line. But, the choices have almost no consequences. It really doesn't matter what you decide or how to talk with the characters. Usually, you'll get a happy or mean text an in-game day later.

So, the game has: a good main quest with terrible endings, about 20 mostly boring side quests with only a few turning into quest chains, no impactful choices, and very little RPG elements in terms of life-path, attributes, and perks. Atleast, the map is really cool. It's a shame they didn't use so many of the cool areas they created for something other than pointless and repetitive gig quests. Next time you're driving in-game: look around. Look at all the cool places the designers made. Do you know how much of it is used to tell interesting stories? Almost none of it. What a shame.

TLDR: Buy the game if you think you'll really enjoy the main story. Don't buy it for anything else. The side quests, world, and lack of RPG elements will disappoint. Hell, even the main story's ending may disappoint.

Graphics are lacking apart from character and maybe gun design, but the world focuses too much on flashing lights, a lot of useless npc's that don't even load in and cars that spawn in after you hit them. There is no beauty of the simple in this game
Combat is a boring mess, guns feel alright but the spongy aspect of your enemies make you feel very weak while your enemies are happy puppets. Stealth is in the same spot, with no take down from the front and from the only one animation they have for it, I would just leave it and go guns "blazing".
The story is boring so far, they showed soo much content that the prologue just feels like I watched it completely on youtube.
Because of the reasons I've stated above and because of the bugs and optimisation issues I feel like CDPR has betrayed their words many times and this is a game on early access that must be worked for another year before it is finished. The fact that I still am hyped for the game is only because of the mods that I think may fix this... it has a 5 for me.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
