4 out 10. I feel cheated, scammed. I don't understand how people think this OK to release a game this broken and be happy to wait years for it to be fixed. Pure fraud!! Paying $60 for a game that won't run is unacceptable. CDPR has sold a Beta version at best. And I'm using it on a high end PC. I really feel for those with consoles.

Personally, I play on a high-end pc and my experience has been amazing. There have been barely any bugs and the few I've seen were visual. I understand the concerns of console players, but from my perspective, the game has been great. I love the open world, characters, story, and gameplay.

Great Game. in 3 days playing I had only small issues with bugs (eg. could not pick up an item). graphics run amazingly great on PC. You get to experience every emotion. Story is great. I absolutely love everything about it.

No, it's not just unpolished, it's unfinished. Game breaking bugs and glitches, almost unplayable on some last gen consoles, overall a technical mess. It adds insult to injury by not delivering on many things they promoted over months, even years. Extremely limited options for character creation, extremely limited romance options (you have the option between having a romance and not having one since there is only one romance for each gender/sexuality combo) etc etc. My main point is: it doesn't matter if people are still having fun with it personally, it doesn't matter that I still kinda like the game. What matters is, that it is an unfinished product, sold at full price. An early access advertised as a full experience. A product that doesn't deliver on what it advertised. A product that was rushed to get it out before Christmas . A product that was produced with crunch and putting extreme pressure on its devs. A product that is just like all AAA titles a cash grabbing, unfinished mess. And we gobble that stuff up. We buy it, we praise it, we defend it. CDPR is praised for being a game company "that listens". But even if they listen now, they will only patch up the game a few months down the road. This is an early access title with major issues, advertised as a full and finished game. And I'm sick of "AAA" companies getting away with this. They wanted to push this game out into sale before Christmas and to profit off of the quarantine boredom of the pandemic. This game would have needed months if not one or two years more to actually be what it was hyped up to be. But I don't even need a "hype" version of the game, just a finished and actually working version of the game would be nice enough.

Any game that has this many crash-inducing bugs cannot be rated higher than a 5. It's just that simple. I've crashed no less that once every 30 minutes playing this. This game is wonderful. gameplay is fun, characters are interesting, plot is interesting (for what i've seen so far), and world is nice and open. Those alone should be enough to make a game worth it, right? Normally, yes, but in this game's case, not quite. There is quite a bit weighing it down at launch.

There are countless bugs in this game. The majority of which being either graphical or auditory. There are a couple that i've heard of that are quest/dialogue base that can be game breaking. This was an issue with The withcher 3 also (CD Project Red's last game), and most of, if not all of, the bugs were eventually patched out. I assume the same will happen with this game.

Bugs aren't my only issue with this game, though. I am also having a little bit of trouble justifying the seeming lack of side content in this game. From what i've experienced in my (so far only) 16 hours of gameplay, there are very little side quests, and an even smaller amount of character interactions. For side quests, or "gigs" as the game calls them, most of the time you just wait until a quest giver, or "fixer", calls you and gives you one. These are usually rescue missions, or "go kill x" missions, which is fine. The other type of side quest (which name is escaping me) are a little longer but still not super content filled. I have one that is to go fight in some fist fights around night city, and another which is to go find some cars that were blacked out of their grid with their company, and are lost. That's about the extent of side quests I've experienced so far.

Character interactions are even worse. There is VERY little talking outside of quests. You can "talk" to pedestrians, but this is just them saying one line as they continue walking. You don't get dialogue options with them. I was hoping for something a little more RDR2 like, but whatever. Apart from that, you can also talk minimally to shopkeeps. You can't really even talk to your friends outside of quests.

Night city, while huge, has a surprisingly low amount of interesting places or objects. To paraphrase a review I read about the world, "You will see the same line of books, or the same whiteboard with the same notes on it in many buildings across the city." This breaks the immersion, which is a big no no in gaming. Sure, reusing assets is fine, but not to this extent.

While I haven't done too much exploring myself, one of my friends who spent hours exploring has found just about nothing interesting to see. No secret places or items. No "secret" interesting characters or anything. Nothing, leaving one with no reason to explore, other than hopefully getting a gig to do.

There is also a whole mechanic I haven't touched at all, because I don't see the need to. Crafting seems practically useless in this game, and the closest I get to doing that is dismantling stuff when I become over encumbered. This gives you materials to craft with, which I just haven't done.

I can't quite pin down why, but I just can't get SUPER invested into this game like I expected I would. I play for a few hours, and then get bored of the samey gameplay. The fact that the gameplay is fun doesn't stop it from feeling samey after a while. And with a lack of character interaction and meaningful sidequests, this is hard to keep me interested in playing the game for long streaks of time.

This has been a fairly negative review so far, so let me highlight some of the things I do really like about this game. First off, I'm a huge sucker for western RPGs. Bethesda games, CD Project games, etc all scratch an itch I get for gaming. I nearly hate level based games anymore. While I railed on Night city in the last paragraph, I do still love it. It's beautiful. I am also a sucker for cyberpunk worldbuilding though, so I may be a little biased. Another bias I have is the tech aspect you get within a cyberpunk world. V (the player character) is equipped with an ocular scanner which can also hack into people and objects to do different things.

When You do talk to characters, They are all interesting and individuals (other than the pedestrians). You get the sense that they all have their own desires and goals. They feel like people! The main characters of V and are very interesting and cool.

The story, for what I've gotten to so far, is very interesting and engaging. I am not going to go too much more into it, though.

Those are all the thoughts I can come up with for cyberpunk 2077 so far. The game is fun, interesting, beautiful, but ridden with problems. Will some, if not all, of the problems be fixed with patches and possible DLC? yes. Does that make the game feel worth full price right now? Not quite.

Weapons feel futuristic, but still feel punchy. Gunplay feels really solid, and generally just better than a lot of other popular open world games I've played. The Cyberpunk atmosphere is beautiful, feels gritty and interesting, but could feel a bit more alive. Not that there aren't a lot of npcs running around some places, but something about them makes them seem a bit "robotic and lifeless". The open world feels huge, I haven't seen half of it yet. Performance is good enough that I can play with a m&kb(if barely) on my Ryzen 2700x and a Gtx 1070 after turning a few options down from "high" settings and increasing the fov slightly @1080p. I honestly couldn't be happier with this game but I won't be a fanboy and I'll give it a 9. Looking forward to lots and lots of hours in Night City, and all the dlcs to come! Expand

Amidst all the chaos, I will submit an honest review. Cyberpunk 2077 is honestly brilliant. The story so far, the sidequests, dialogue, combat (except melee) & Night City itself are all great and well worth your time....in a few months. The main story is good. For that, it gets 4 points. The rest of the game ranges from forgettable to truly terrible.

In particular, CDPR should be ashamed of themselves for releasing a game in 2020 with such poor AI, across the board. It's a genuine embarrassment. Should have taken some of those trucks of money they earned from The Witcher and bought some talent from R*.

After the prologue it crashes EVERY TIME. Can't even progress any further. I'm stuck after the intro, when reaching Night City. Drivers are updated, the game is patched 1.04, I did everything I could.

While I didn't walk into this with very high expectations, I was at least expecting a stable, finished, playable product. For my 60 euros I got hours of frustration, reinstall, updates, crashes and little to no gameplay. The shooting is very laggy, the driving is clunky and slippery and the character customization is pretty shallow. The dialogues are poorly written and sound like how old people think young people talk these days. Too many quippy edgelord type lines. Everything seems superficial. There is no AI, none. The NPC's are just not finished, all twelve of them I could see in the badlands. They just stand there like broken puppets. This is early beta at best. How this game got 9's and 10's I'll never understand.

No. Just no... don't buy this! Wait six months until they fix some of it and restore the utterly broken and missing systems. Wait for a deep deep sale. I requested a refund. Spare yourselves the aggravation.

It has next to none features that's been promised, which makes its PR company just a huge load of lies. The developers should be sued for this mess that actually plays worse than games from 2000s; at this point, GTA San Andreas has MUCH more immersive and alive world than this game.

Even if they delayed this game until 2077, CDPR still wouldn't have been able to make a fun, functioning game. This is a AA game at best. What a shame. This entire game was made for marketing purposes. We all got played but I knew it was likely to be garbage just like most overhyped games.

The good: This game is a stunning blend of Borderlands 3 + GTA V. The world is immense and the story arcs feel hugely dependent on my decisions. Despite the sometimes noticeable lack of content this is definitely a well thought out and developed world. I haven't crashed once and had a single purple halo/effect bug on my screen for 5 minutes one time, and this is after 10 hours of playing. The good: This game is a stunning blend of Borderlands 3 + GTA V. The bad: CDPR simply should not have released this game for older Xbox or PS4 consoles. It's simply too demanding and those 7+ year old devices cannot handle even a toned down version of the real thing. Give it 24 months for enough people to upgrade & patches to optimize/fix bugs and add some more content and this game will be a classic. Not to mention the multiplayer mode rumored to be coming in 2022. I'd love to see revamped driving physics & more vehicles added, and more interactions with random people on the street. The messages system seems clunky to use, and the lack of auto-pickups for stuff like cash is annoying - at least give us a setting for it! Despite all of these negatives this game has incredible potential and deserves a 9/10 - assuming CDPR delivers on future updates (which I'm confident they will, given how much $$$ they have invested in it).

So the game deserves a 9 or 10.

Everything you see is merely carefully-constructed window dressing, presumably so that it would all look nice for gameplay trailers. The second you go off the rails and explore the city, the facade falls apart.

Based on the early reviews, I was expecting to have to endure glitches but was looking forward to experiencing this living, breathing city. Instead, I've seen barely any glitches, but have been delivered a gaming experience with a less-convincing world than GTA: San Andreas.

In all the futuristic cars, stylish pedestrians and neo lights, there is a feeling of "emptyness". The gameplay diverges from what is expected from an RPG and the gunfights are not as satisfying as they look. The story, although lazily written in some aspects, is interesting, and the player's decisions do have weight on the outcome. The characters aren't "deep" and some of them just feel dull, but most are memorable.
The graphics are gorgeous, especially the lighting, but there are a lot of texture inconsistencies and visual bugs.
Speaking of bugs, it is hard to play a full minute without something being off, whether it be characters clipping through walls, weird movements, late renderings or AI having manic episodes.
Although it would never match its hype, it is still a good addition to 2020's gaming.

If you loved the Witcher games then this is an amazing improvement in that style of game. Over time, the Witcher3 game grew to earn its standing as one of the best RPG games every made but it there is a huge audience that it is not a good fit for. And that is fine. I play it on older version of ps4, downloaded it on preorder time and have more then 24h of playtime so it's not surprising that my graphics of game is bad - visuals are not impressive at all (found other games that was released this year much appealing for me, game screen looks blurred and muddy. But I can't took that for negative because I do have old ps4 and I'm happy that i can play it. So let's start with exploration - open world is often fantastic, choice seams to be endless, sometimes I get lost in choices and side quest that hour later i forget what i actually wanted to do. I didn't find any bugs or glitch there.
But negative side is that I found city quite empty, there are few npc wondering in streets and even less cars so I was quite disappointed in that aspect of game. I don't see reflection of me but customise of your body is terminala (you are stuck with same hair, tattoos and similar thing's) but clothes are brilliant. I just scratch main mission but earning money is quite hard and realistic.
I have 5 blue screens and crashes of game, some bug's of levitation objects and missing objects in story missions and when I kill someone gravity is ridiculously bad. Was it worth of wait for ps4 players NO, did I expect more YES, BUT Ilove characteristics and reality of game that I don't mind first person gameplay ...

#2 That a lot of great games (Oblivion, Skyrim, Crysis(1) ect) were buggy or needed years of development in the PC hardware sector to even be playable on a PC. Cyberpunk is a game that will define the next years. Most of the reviews here so far sound like they try to win a F1 race with their old Ford Focus.
and #3 Every developer has crunch times with a lot of overtime right before release. At CD Project Red is on the lower end when it comes to crunches. Sadly crunches are a part of this industry.

The only problem I have so far is, that you can't change the visual appearance of your character in game after you left the character editor. There no barber, tattoo artists or piercer in the city. You cant even change your makeup. So at least right now you really should be 100% sure about your V before you start the game.

**This is a review with me about 12 hours into the game and halfway through the main quest. I may update this review in a few months once a lot of the issues have been ironed out and I replay it.**

First of all, this game is fantastic on some levels. It truly has a great story that is very gripping and so far has plenty of twists and turns. It’s a great dystopian story that should be experienced by anyone who is a fan of these types of things.

Graphically, it’s beautiful, very beautiful actually. The design of Night City and the outlying areas are fantastic and it’s easy to see why a game like this took so long to make, everything is dripping with detail and it’s vibrant. While it doesn’t look good as the trailers, the in-game graphics do look good on a half-decent PC.

The voice acting is incredible, including Keanu Reeves who truly nailed his role. The addition of Keanu Reeves makes it a little better because he does such a great job with his role. The music is great and has that cyberpunk vibe.

The gameplay is fun. It plays like other looter shooters/RPG's out there, like Destiny 2 and Borderlands. Some enemies can be a little Bulletspongey but I feel that if you do side quests it’s not that bad because you gain better equipment which lets them go down quicker and the progression systems are very nice.

It so far has a great story, with incredible acting, great pacing with a few minor areas of padding in the story and a very fast-paced feel to it, with great direction. The story is engaging and is keeping me wanting to see how it ends.

Now… normally I’d give a game like this an easy 9/10, with only a point knocked off for some less then stellar side quests and minor pacing issues but this is where the game takes its biggest hit for me. The technical issues. They’re bad. Day one, they were abysmal, made me consider just refunding it and trying it again in a year or so when the inevitable ‘complete’ edition comes out with all the DLC. But the added patches are helping.

Still, this game needed probably 6 more months to iron everything out. It’s appalling that they’d delay it to now to release it in this state. Sure, it would’ve created controversy but the controversy would’ve been less if it came out with no major technical issues. It’s not just graphical issues either. I’ve missed important dialog options that will affect the story. I’ve also had instances where an item will pop up but it won’t go away for a few minutes, meaning I can’t acquire any other items. I found clipping issues as well, including my character dying when he shouldn’t have. Most of the issues are graphical hiccups which I can tolerate but when it happens more than it should, that does hamper the experience. Nothing is more immersion-breaking than having to restart just to get past a glitch. AI also has issues. Cops don’t even attempt to chase you. I don’t know if it’s due to a faulty script, considering the Witcher 3 had better AI and it’s made by the same company.

So, should you buy it? Yes… but it might be best to wait a few months. Right now, it’s still very rough around the edges. The story, overall gameplay, voice acting, and everything else is great but the technical issues bring what should be an easy 9/10 down to IMO a 7/10 at best. When it's fixed, it’ll probably be fantastic but right now, they released it too early and they should be held accountable for this.

It's an action game with very linear quests that you don't actually have multiple ways of completing. Dialog choices might lead to different outcomes in some cut scenes sometimes, but the actual meat of the quests are just linear maps that you either half assed sneak through past dumb af NPC's, or just blast through the same area.

The game looks pretty most of the time. It's like playing GTA mixed with Fallout, which is fine, it's fun.. But it's not the Cyberpunk 2077 we were promised whatsoever.

WHY prevent reviews on consoles if not for the sole reason of scamming those who won't fold to scalpers of next gen consoles? How this game was certified by ps and xbox I don't know but after playing for 4 hours and trying to get a refund (that was denied because I played it.....) suddenly it all became clear. They prevented the state of the base consoles being leaked and hope to fix it in the long term, I'm sorry but I did not pay £50 to be a beta tester, If this game is for next gen just don't release it on base consoles, I was happy to wait until I can find a next gen.

Instead we get EA levels of deception, grabbing cash and not even apologising for the state of the base consoles because they know PS and xbox wouldn't be able to prevent refunds once they admit it should have never been released on these systems.

I don't see any redemption for CDPR, even if they give free content etc. They took every precaution, in the form of blocking reviews and not showing accurate footage of the base consoles so they could grab as much cash off over hyped fans. I'm glad to see their greed has back fired because most people are still on previous gen consoles and if you are going to scam millions out of their hard earned cash during a pandemic I cant say they don't deserve every financial and reputational damage coming to them.

It's not exactly perfect for a regular PS4, but it's not a horrible game. While experiencing minor bugs, it's nothing you can't get around by trying certain things. I'm really enjoying the story so far, I only just wish I got a really good view of V. Wonderful game so far!

Great game, great story, interesting world and characters, decent gunplay. This game got everything to be one of the best RPG's of all time.

But -1 for bugs and -1 for poor optimization. This hopefully will be resolved soon so the game is a 9 or even a 10.

Great overall extremely well done and for those people crying about bugs just be patient ever game has bugs and later would be fixed. we shouldn't base our reviews on temporarily bugs instead focus on the game itself.

Masterpiece of a game that will go down to history as one of the most ambitious projects ever created.

Love it. Yeah sure some technical glitches here and there, but taking a stroll in Night City and taking in the sights and the sounds makes me want to visit that city. Worldbuilding at its finest! Characters and quests are amazing, too. Driving and gunfights are very enjoyable as well.

with my system in-game fps hits around 30 fps, gunfights and RPG mechanics are fine, I was planning to go with hacker build and it's really satisfying to hack all tools and humans around your character. On the other hand, I believe they will fix this performance issue asap.

It will be a 10 if there are no technical issues. It will be a 7 if this were a different game company, I trust in CDPR and they have taken a big credit of trust right now.
If they fix the game i can give a solid 10 because I love it after spending just 20h, and I know that I will spend nearly so much time like in w3 (about 600h+)
Hope that people will appreciate the scale of this

Things wrong with this game @ 12th December, 2020

    - Some characters T-posing. I saw two characters do this in 14 hours of playing. - Too much loot everywhere, in places that don't make sense - Loot laying around that you can't pick up - Hard to see what loot you are actually picking up - Playing on hard there is a ridiculous amount of health packs just laying everywhere although

    - Too much loot everywhere, in places that don't make sense
    - Loot laying around that you can't pick up
    - Hard to see what loot you are actually picking up
    - Playing on hard there is a ridiculous amount of health packs just laying everywhere although they are not very useful
    - Side quests are just flying at your head left and right without much choice on your part
    - You also can't choose what cars to buy and when, you just are obliged to buy them through quests that randomly appear and you have to start with the crappiest one, each time moving up to a little less crappy. It takes the fun out of car shopping.
    - Playing on an azerty keyboard sucks because your movement keys will probably overlap with unremappable keys
    - Some keys don't work right. E.g. I set LCtrl to toggle crouch but it remains Hold To Crouch even though the menu shows differently.
    - Sometimes random menus like your messages or character sheet pop open and I have no idea what key I pressed to open them.
    - I haven't found much to do besides main quest, side quests and some collectables.
    - Weapon and armor mods seem to be pointless because you can't recover them and you are getting better guns and armor for free constantly so you'll probably change everything every 10 minutes. This may improve late game where you might be able to keep your gear for longer than a few minutes.

I still like the game though. It looks amazing, the action is smooth, the shooting precise, there's a lot of ways to develop and upgrade your character, the story is enough to keep you playing, the game runs great for me, it has a good soundtrack and an interesting Deus Ex-y atmosphere...

As it is today I'd give it a 7,5 but I'm sure with a few patches it will score well above 8. With some extra content and variety perhaps 9. And if people start modding this it might become brilliant. You can tell that despite all the delays CD Projekt Red still rushed it. There is much potential here. I hope that either the developers or the mod community make it what it can be. It happened for No Man's Sky, among others...

I chose to give a ten because a lot of people are giving ratings that are unfairly low and I want to counter that. It's not a revolutionary game but it's at least good and in some areas already great.

Can't believe some people still try to defend this garbage, i bet these people rarely play games, if they actually think that this is 10/10, it's 5/10 max.

Love it so far. Looks exactly what CDPR has promised. Although there are a lot of technical issues, I'm 100% convinced that in few month there will be almost none of them.

I have learnt my lesson. I am never pre ordering a AAA game again. An expensive, but valuable lesson in not believing the hype.

Super disappointed in almost every aspect of the game. Really regret my preorder and wish Steam would make an exception on refunds for this game - I tried for 9 hours to enjoy this game. It's hot garbage.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
