    A very awesome and challenging game,but when it comes to cheaters it really sucks.80% of the counter strike servers today are non-steam so you will find a bunch of 12 year old cheaters.

    I've played this game since 2000, I even still have the retail disk's sitting next to me, i love this game it's one of my favorite games i have ever played in my life time, if your into counter terrorism or just here to have some fun you will love this game as it provides custom mod servers to play on.

    This game is so well balanced, maps well guilt, gameplay still stronger than any other shooter out there. It deserves to be bought right on steam. I have been playing cs for 10 years since its release date, and i will always love this game. Pretty much my childhood :] and im not a virgin for u queer dicks reading this saying "nerd".

Telling you not to shoot too much and shoot your gun steadily. You may suck at the first time you play, but it's part of the game, your never good automatically, you have to GET GOOD. The only thing i disliked about Counter Strike are the hackers and cheaters, but it's a rare chance to see them, and the AWP Magnum sniper being so strong but expensive. The game offers a large variety of maps, guns, and if your sick of that, there are tons of Modded maps, Skins, and Mods for the game like Zombie Mod, Surfing, Jail Break, and even Deathmatchs.… Expand

    One of the best first person shooters of all time. This game has survived the ages, despite Condition Zero and Source being released. Competitive and casual play never get old. Easily my most played games ever.

    I don't understand why Counter-strike is so popular. I loved every Valve game to date, except counter-strike. I played Team fortress classic when Counter-strike was so popular. Recently I decided to buy it from steam. I found it bland, boring and repetative. Always the same: plant the bomb shoot the counter-terrorists, win/lose.     I have been playing this mod for 10 years now. Every time I play a new game, I always come back to this one. This truly is revolutionary game. The game play is like no other FPS. It is intense and addicting. My ALL TIME Favorite FPS game and one of my top two favorite ALL TIME games PERIOD.

    IS a really great Game the best for me in first person actually the problem is that valve sux a lot of people use cheats :S so i dont know what to think about it . is valve doing hes job ....     Counter-strike is the best game you can play online its so good. If u dont have something to do just play Counter-strike and you will be happy. Well this is something i just have to say we all start as a noob then we go Pro.! The awsome thing is you can even make money out of being a great player.

    This is a very good game with lots of servers with all kind of people. It has its several mods from Super Heros to the lastest Pokemod. This is one of the rare cases where its an old game that will continue to advance in time without it being forgot.

    Great game, physics seem realistic if you've ever gone running around with an ak 47 the recoil is accurate, its a very very cheap game to buy and you get way more than your moneys worth. If there was an 11 on the scale of 1-10 id give it just that.

    Been playing Counter-Strike since 2000. The most amazing game I have ever laid my eyes upon. Still to this day, 9 years later, as I have grown up with counter-strike through the years, we continue to live on together. Amazing. My kids will be playing this game in no time. Counter-Strike Source, as new as it is, doesn't even match up to this!

    Counter Strike 1.6 is the best of Counter Strike. Period. The game play in 1.6 is unparalleled in the FPS world even by its own successors. The fact that CS:S and CS: 1.6 are even comparable rating wise is a mockery of any rating system that exists. Look at the player stats for both games. Enough said.

    this is the best GAME ever made. I have played every FPS game out, nothing compares to this game. the graphics are still very good for a game that came out in 2000 and the mechanics and gameplay doesn't compare to any other game. all other fps games are a HUGE dissapointment. CS IS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE.

Although if you're playing the game now and you consider yourself any kind of gamer, make sure you download the update and disable the vitachambers so you can actually die. If you don't, any and all challenge is removed from the game because you can never really die. The good news is if you disable the vitachambers, you can still save at any time. So while I died a lot while I figured out how to take down some baddie or group of baddies, I always had a recent save to fall back on so I could try again. Back to the game. Atmosphere. Story. Gameplay. THis game has it all. I so love the crossbow with the bolt trap arrows.. Brilliant! And to Chris R. comment below, yes, you use the wrench a fair bit early on, but as you get the better weapons, the grenade launcher and crossbow, and especially once you find the terminals to upgrade them, I put my wrench away pretty much for good. And the plasmids are great fun too. And the camera, so shooting pictures of your enemies which allows you to learn more about them and kill them better, brilliant. If you haven't played this game, you owe it to yourself to try. I don't truthfully expect the sequel to be this good, especially since it's a different studio doing it, but you never know.     Let me be clear that this 5 rating comes from an average of two specific things. As a game that (I believe) revolutionized the FPS and Multiplayer genre, it deserves a solid 10/10. It is a technical marvel, it plays flawlessly, and is insanely addictive. Once you own it you just keep coming back for more. It doesn't matter what other games are out or will come out in the future, this Let me be clear that this 5 rating comes from an average of two specific things. Most of the time teamwork is not needed, but here (1.6) you need to practice strategies etc. Yes, there are hackers but if you think everyone is hacking then you clearly just suck.     This game traveled along time into 1.6, and now CZ, and then today, CS:S arrived. If you like CZ or CS:S DO NOT forget about CS 1.6--1.0 It is like the creator of CS:S and CZ, Hope they make a another good cs game! NO CS ONLINE I HATE IT BADLY!

    The perfect online fps, nothing comes close, nothing at all. You will not find a better fps that literally requires the same amount of skill and tactics required to play this game. Twitch gaming at its finest, forget counter strike source, 1.6 PROVES gameplay over graphics will prevail.

    Dude, this is a game that came out over 10 years ago and is still going strong with the online community. Even with all its newer versions and upgrades, the original still hasn't been beat. Simple shooter action but done with perfection and to the tee precision.

    Bro it is the best game eva yes it need a bit of updating to do but it is a wonderful game which brings ppl together one of the best games i ever played been playing for 5 years and still loving it peace of cs users.

    Every so often a game in a genre comes around that seems to be the peak of the genre. CS is like that with multi player shooters. Its better than anything before it and everything after it just adds un-necessary additions like better graphics or new "features" (like prone position, duck and cover) This is a pure shooter, the michael jordan of the genre.

    One of the best online multiplayer games to ever come around, will not dissapoint anyone who plays it. Fast paced, fun, easy to learn, and multitude of variety in game play.

    This game is really good even though it was made in early 2000 its still good in 2008. I never get tired of playing this game or the newer version. Its one of the few games that requires enough skill, but not so hard it frustrates you. People who think this game is bad or too hard just are too used to easy games where you spray all the time.     Starting to play and love it since 2000, and still addicting even it is already 8 years! I agree that graphics are outdated and I also hate that we can shoot through almost all walls, that 2 minus points make me rate 8 rather than 10. And the plus points are many,many internet servers available or create your own via dedicated server and if you buy via steam, you get Condition Zero also

    a very good game !it's a long time that i play counter strike and i play again not like wow or another game that we play just some month and we stop. The default is people say bad word everytimes.
